We were happy to get a reservation at Whitebark given the ideal snow and weather conditions which have made this a bustling week in Mammoth. We were seated quickly to a nice table. Drinks took awhile to arrive but pleased the children and parents alike. The pour on the wine was 6 ounces unlike the Lilliputian serving at Side Door in the village. This fairytale ends here. The food took perhaps 25-30" to come. - Angus burger: 2, thin patty, non toasted brioche bun, cold fries + Salmon: nice crust, good flavor + crispy chicken: crispy skin, flavorful, creamy mash potatoes - seared Ahi tuna salad: very large portion, delicious but resulted in - Tagliatelle: interspersed with hard sticks of an herb - Frizee salad: live worm, weird wads of goat cheese Service: Mike was pleasant, out of sparkling water. Slow Overall, the menu was hit and miss where the hits were pretty good but the misses were pretty bad. read more

10/1/2025- Review #1900 Staying in the hotel and realized I didn't have any cooking oil to cook green beans for dinner... Decided to order the beet salad.. Charged to the room and hostess had the order ready.. I did want the strawberry brownie but it was not on the menu.. Update: 10/2/2025- Stopped in for a quick breakfast.. so glad we dined in vs to go.. Impressed with the Eating well menu- Plus soy and oatmilk available - Went with the strawberry kefir smoothie- Yummmm-.. definitely going to make when I get back home- Got the yogurt parfait-.. very generous portion and priced right- Oatmeal wasn't ready-.. The fried zucchini was so good. Crunchy. Not soggy. Great dipping sauce. The beet salad mixed with arugula and feta were plenty full and great pairing with arugula. The beets were cut in circular shape. Tender and soft. The elote had a great kick it was nice with side of nachos. The shrimp and grits had to be retuned bc it was literally so salty and soupy. The wait staff was nice to take it back and not charge me and gave us a free dessert of our choice. Which we chose the brownie sundae. Brownie was super dry and tough. Should call it White Barf. Worst food and service we have had at a Westin. Our server Erica arrived after quite some time to take our order. We had decided what we wanted - it took 40 minutes to get our food. She never told us there would be a delay or the kitchen was behind. She never checked back. We had to ask her about timing - she snapped "the kitchen is busy" and we said we would leave if it took longer. Well we should have left. The food arrived after we asked. Erica began to auction off the food "chicken, who has the chicken?" she shouted. Wow for the prices we expected way more than this. Well it got worse. The frisée salad was awful. Missing the goat cheese and was a pile of off color lettuce. Terrible. The salmon ($48) was overcooked but somehow cold. The chicken was in a white sauce in a tiny plate. Once again cold - after waiting almost an hour. She then asked who had the kids meal - it was two sliders from the appetizer menu for $22. We had not ordered any kids meal. The regular burger was $24. By this point we had enough. We spoke to the manager. He graciously took care of it. We gave back the salad and the salmon. We were too hungry to return it all. Ended up going for pizza in the village. That was great service and good food. This place needs serious help. Total disappointment. The manager agreed that it shouldn't be an auction house with cold food. Run away from this expensive lackluster restaurant. The one star is for the manager. read more

Went here for dinner and two breakfasts. It's convenient when staying at the hotel. The ambiance is ok. They have nice views and some TVs and a bar. But the place could use a refresh for sure. They have some odd lounge chairs and low tables that are awkward for dinner. The placemats are falling apart. The staff are friendly and attentive - especially the breakfast ones. The breakfast items that were great are the chia seed with fruit, the breakfast burritos and the veg omelet. I'd pass on the Cornbeef hash. It's not bad but it's not the traditional version. The toast is ok - I would go for the fruit instead. For dinner we had the halibut and the chicken skewers. They were both good. The sides were over seasoned - asparagus and mushrooms - and over priced - $10-12 each separate from the $42 halibut. They have happy hour drinks which we missed. I think worth a visit. read more

Ambiance is the only positive. Having stayed here twice for multiple days and ordered more than 1/2 the menu from morning to night, the reviews about them being able to ruin even the most basic things is 100% accurate. Insult to injury is that they're charging "fine dining" prices for some lettuce and a dry overcooking chicken breast or an over salted hockey puck on a bun. The first time I've ever had to send a burger back due to it being burnt. Even the soda taps at the bar were flat. :( read more

Very good service and food. Had a nice ribeye steak dinner and the servers were very accommodating to allow us to split the entree rather than getting two entrees. I'll admit, I didn't listen to the reviews and decided to give White Bark a shot anyway. Unfortunately, I probably should have heeded the warnings. On the plus side, the atmosphere was relaxed and inviting, and the staff were extremely friendly--those factors alone earned them the 2 stars. Where things went downhill was the food. I started with their chicken noodle soup, which sadly was a total miss (0/5 stars in my book). It tasted off and I had to send it back. Next, I ordered the turkey sandwich, which looked promising on the menu. It came loaded with all sorts of tasty ingredients--but it was served on thin, untoasted bread. The moment I tried to pick it up, the bread fell apart before I could even take a bite, effectively turning my sandwich into a messy open-faced creation. All in all, while I appreciated the pleasant staff and nice ambiance, the food left a lot to be desired. I won't be returning anytime soon. read more

The breakfast was super delicious and we love everything. I got a breakfast burrito and a latte with soy (or oat) milk and added vanilla syrup and it was 5/5 for me. We had such an incredible server as well, her name Kristel. She was super sweet and very attentive to us, considering we had a party of 8. The beau and I stayed at the Westin and this was the restaurant inside. We got complimentary breakfast here in the morning. The portions were big and the food was decent. We ate here for dinner once and it was excellent. I got the steak au poivre and it was really good. I don't expect much out of a hotel restaurant but I was pleasantly surprised. The service was excellent as well. The worst part was that on the coldest, snowiest day of the year the restaurant closed for a "plumbing issue" which means we had to go out in the snow. The ambiance is pretty nice and fancy/comfortable. The service is always poor. Friendly waiters but timing is always way off and they are always forgetting things. The last 2 times we came here steaks were over cooked or under cooked and thats always super disappointing when the steaks are $78. Chimichurri is more like a smoothie not a chunky sauce. Ordered poached pears which was a good desert last time but after waiting 20 minutes we were told they were out. Mushrooms were flavorless potatoes pictured were not great. Nothing was really great. Not worth the almost $500 bill for 4 people and 2.5 hours. We won't be back soon. ALSO... the front desk staff namely Jessica and Duncan were extremely rude. We tried joking with them and being friendly but left with side eyes and snarky remarks. We asked for a receipt and were treated like we were from a different planet. Stay away from here. Not sure why the reviews are so low for Whitebark, but we renjoyed our brunch from here. We got the Denver Omelet for $17 and got a side of roasted potatoes with our omelet. The omelet was a sizeable portion. Easily shared between two people. It was packed with protein and loaded with cheese. It was very good. I ordered the special for that day which was Hawaiian halibut. The execution of cooking the fish was exactly how I would have done it!!! The precursor to the fish was an exquisite carrot-coconut soup that activated the bright points of my palate which set up the fish perfectly. I had the side of white rice and seasonal vegetables which were excellent with the buerre blanc sauce the fish was served with. David was very kind and relaxed towards me. I mentioned to him that I was interested in possibly attending the bluesapolooza festival happening in August and he had a lot to share with me about blues music! After I finished with dinner, he invited me to go to the bar and meet the bar tender, Kindy, who made an immaculate lemon drop gin cocktail! I can see why this restaurant has less than 4 stars. Whitebark is located inside The Westin Monache Resort, which is completely pet friendly, so you would only assume their restaurant INSIDE the property would also be pet friendly. Not to mention, it also states the restaurant is pet friendly online as well. When we arrived for our 6pm reservation, the 2 staff members greeted us & did not mention ANYTHING about our dog being with us. It wasn't until the hostess came to seat us that we found out their restaurant isn't pet friendly. WHY wouldn't the 2 staff members that saw us enter the restaurant have said that? It would've saved us time in looking for somewhere else to eat. Also, it's understandable that this restaurant did not allow dogs, but we weren't even offered a table outside of the restaurant where there were clearly tables & chairs. Our 5-10 minute experience at this restaurant was enough to ruin a perfectly great weekend & experience with The Westin. read more

Bartender staff is wonderful, this review is not a reflection on them. But the rigid policies of a HOTEL restaurant and blatant rude attitude of the manager at this establishment is really horrible. Have never experienced this at any Westin property we have stayed at. Definitely will not choose this location again. If you are located in a hotel, you need to be flexible and accommodating. This place has not been since the minute we arrived and brought the complimentary hotel champagne into the bar, was immediately yelled at to leave. We were ordering other items. As a paying customer of the expensive property, a titanium elite Marriott member at that, and someone who will frequent the restaurant the next few days, this behavior by the manager and staff is unacceptable. I have been here about 6-7 times now and without fail there is always something wrong with the service. Sometimes the kitchen is understaffed and takes almost 45 min for the food to come. Most times I've come here, something in the order is completely wrong which means having to tack on more time to correct it. Sometimes the front house is gone. Getting the check usually delays us by 10-15 min due to technical difficulties or no one around to ask. I'd say if you're trying to hit the mountain in a timely manner do NOT come here - however if you have a lot of time to kill and don't mind the aforementioned hiccups then it's an okay-ish spot. The only redeeming quality here is that the food is pretty decent and the only reason I didn't give a 1-star. read more

It was another fine dining experience. Connor our server was excellent. The calamari and Brussels sprouts were our appetizers, both were perfectly prepared and oh so flavorful. The beet salad was fresh and delicious. For our main dishes, we had the Beef stroganoff, chicken mezze, and the burger. All were delicious and cooked perfectly. Highly upset. Valet was great. My boyfriend and I wanted to grab dinner and this location was the only restaurant in town that had reservations. We booked it for seven thirty. They did not mention that their New Year's Eve menu was prefixed. Prior to booking. We show up and they mentioned it. She hands us the menu. I start to read it. It has about six-ish options. The host is telling us that it's 150 or 115 per person. Not an issue. The issue was the escargot, a certain soup and some type of duck plate were all on the menu. So there goes half the menu for me. I specifically mention that they did not state this online prior to booking. She gives me the "I knowwww". Here's the thing. I'm used eating at nice locations. The one thing I do not tolerate in any industry is having my time wasted. I know I'm partly to blame for booking last minute but my mammoth trip was also last minute. I'm used to lowering my expectations when it comes to food quality anytime I go to a "Moutain town," but to hit me with food options that are not my cup of tea and then tell me I'm forced to pay X amount not including tip. Etc. is BS. I should have spoken with a manager. My boyfriend was trying to get me to stay just because our options were limited but I refused to give service to a location so unprofessional. Figure out your marketing and your reservation system. It's obvious why this location has three stars. read more

I ate here twice today. I'd say I'd give lunch a 5 and dinner a 2, so it ends up being a 3.5. I'm rounding it down because dinner ruined our mood to what would've been a nice family dinner. The short of it all is that the food can be decent, but the service is really bad. Like they try really hard to avoid their patrons. Please find more people like the waitress at lunchtime. Otherwise, we should just use iPads lol - LUNCH - When my mom, baby, and I came for lunch in the afternoon, there were a lot of open tables. Our waitress was really nice to bring us two chairs for the carseat since the booths were too narrow to fit the carseat. She was very attentive and answered my questions about dinner service and certain menu items. I ordered the Fried Chicken BLT sandwich, half Caesar Salad, and a Matcha smoothie. All of the items made a good impression on me. The sandwich was well balanced with a well-seasoned and crispy chicken, fresh greens, and bacon. Most of all, I loved the slices of pickled green tomato at the bottom and I don't even like pickles!! They gave a good amount of fries with the sandwich, and I actually quite liked the fries. The half Caesar Salad looked quite plain at first, but it is a solid salad. Fresh greens again, sufficient amount of cheese and dressing, and a thin slice of crouton bread that you could break and mix into the salad if you'd like. The matcha smoothie was interesting, it was actually a blend where you can individually taste all of the ingredients. When I saw the combination on the menu, I wasn't really sure it would work ... but the ingredients were balanced out well. The waitress helped my mom take a picture as well. I had read the reviews about bad service before coming here, and this waitress made me feel that they weren't true. Overall, my lunch experience was what motivated me to return for dinner (and I really wanted to try the brownie ice cream dessert). - DINNER - I typically expect dinner service to be better than lunch, but this wasn't the case. There were several more tables around dinner time, but not as busy as other restaurants at the Village. Still plenty of tables, so definitely good if you don't want to leave the hotel for food. But you're not necessarily saving much time by eating here. My party ordered the Shredded Beef Poutine to share, half rack of ribs, halibut coconut rice, and the pork rigatoni. As Canadians, we have a very high standard for poutines. At first, we could tell that it didn't resemble the poutines we grew up with, but we were surprised that it was still a very solid poutine. There _were_ cheese curds, which is good. The shredded beef was tasty. The fries were crispy even when covered in gravy and cheese. It was good until I found a hair inside a cheese curd. I told the waitress and she took it back to show the kitchen; we later found out that she had just removed it from our bill (without telling us though). Out of our entrees, the half rack of ribs was the tastiest (maybe a 4), the pork rigatoni was okay (a 3), and the halibut was so dry (a 1). Halfway through the meal I tried a bit of the halibut, and found that it was incredibly dry. We tried to tell the waitress but then she went MIA, for a really long time. At some point, the rest of us had finished all of our meals, she still didn't show up. We started trying to get the attention of other waitresses. After the waitress took the orders of the table next to ours, I tried to get her attention by saying "excuse me", repeatedly louder each time because she was walking further away, and I was just straight up ignored. I knew she could hear me because the restaurant wasn't that busy/loud and table further from her turned to look at me because I was trying to flag the waitress down. Anyways, we eventually got a hold of the host (person who mostly just directs people to the tables)--we told her that our waitress had been missing for a while and that we wanted to say that the fish was really dry. She asked if we wanted another fish and we said no, and that we just wanted to give the feedback to the kitchen. She took away the fish to show the kitchen and disappeared. Moments later, our waitress returned and asked if we were done (we were done a longggg time ago), we ask her for the bill and then she starts taking away our dishes. I had a moment where I still wondered if I wanted dessert (again, I wanted to try the brownie ice cream dessert), but we had just about lost all of our patience. Then we had to wait over 15 minutes to get our bill. It was so bad that my husband had to get up to find someone to get the bill, and he has never had to do this before. Do yourself a favor and do not waste your time or money going here if you have kids. They might as well add a sign "no children allowed" unless they are grown. We had the worst experiance ever dinong here last night 1/15/2024 at 7:50 PM.. Main reason was due to the Assistant General Manager "Mannada Eanes". As she calls her self whom should not even hold any position that is customer service related or people related. She is beyond rude, disrespectful, uneducated and has no people skills. Her discrimination agains kids is beyond words and comprehension. Its a shame that this Westin resort is even affiliated with this establisment inside their hotel. My whole group is speachless as to what they witnessed last night. We checked into this beautiful property and went down to grab a quick bite with our friends and a 2.5 year old. At the door Mannada or (name she have us AGM) immediately told us that we have to sit in the lounge because there we did not have reservstions. Mind you the place was completely empty but fine no problem we wanted a quick bite anyway. Did not offer a high chair for the toddler but did bring coloring menu without color pencils. When we asked for the color pencils they brough used unsharpened colored pencils that were previously used by other kids (so much for cleanliness and safety). Simple order of fries took over 30 mins to get for my toddler.. By this time he is hungry and bored. Without a high chair he wants to go explor and walk around he made 2 circels around the table and was just looking around. Mind you NO ONE WAS IN THE LOUNGE SIDE.. COMPLETELY EMPTY except our group. Mannada or what she calles her self came to my husbad with smerk on her face with attitude to tell him that MY 2.5 year old is a "THREAT AND DANGER" to her staff?? First we tought she was joking with us. Like are you serious place is empty and even if it wasnt there is a more nicer and polite way to say this to a parent. My husband looked at her and said what is he doing thats dangeroua he is just walking around the table.. She proceeded to say we need to keep him at out table or she can pack our food to go? Excuse me how about you calmly come over and say what is the problem without making a scene. Isnt your job to make sure customers are happy and to tone down any situation without escalating it further?? You are disrespecting my child, our friends and my family. My child is very well behaved he is not distuptive, he does not scream nor yell. He has traveled the world with us and skiied at some of the worlds most prestigious resorts and we NEVER EVER HAD AN ISSUE WITH HIM AS A BABY OR TODDLERS. This is when I asked her for the first and last name from the waitress who was more than appolgetic and kind. So called "Mannada"comes over with a pieace of paper from the thermal register tape with a name and "title" and start to argue with me again. When I asked her for her business card she said she is new and didnt have one.. At this time she proceddes to ask us to leave the establishment or she was going to call the police??? Call the police for what for 2 year old getting out of their seat and you coming over to argue with a customer..Our waitress came over and just kept appologizing to us and asking if she could do anything.. Bless her heart!!! At this time someone else came over trying to calm us down not sure whom she was assuming the manager.. So Mannada wants us to leave yet she is sitting and arguing insted of bringing us our bill so we can leave. I guess its more important to cause a sceen than get us the check but again maybe im crazy for even paying the bill.. Or was she maybe hopping for us to get physical i dont know.. This woman who claims to be an AGM should not hold any customer service jobs positions. She needs some serious training on etiquette, and basic people skills.. There will be consequences for this. Walked in and asked to be seated at the bar, which is first come first serve. We were hoping to start off with drinks and then progress to a meal, but it all went south when we met the bartender. He was m-i-s-e-r-a-b-l-e and was not trying to hide the fact that he hated life and didn't want to be there. My husband and I were a little in shock and chuckled that this was how we were being served, but we went along with it for a sake of a cocktail and decided to get dinner elsewhere (Vulcania at the Village). 3 stars because our cocktails were actually good and stiff lol. read more

I only wanted to try this place out because I was staying at Westin Monarch. Don't come out of your way to come to this restaurant, not worth it. I came on the day after Christmas and they said they were "super busy" with the 9 tables they had. Most of the restaurant was empty, but they didn't allow anyone else to sit. We waited for approx 1 hour to get seated and they were still saying they were super busy. I understand that no one wants to work and they only have 2 servers but they had too many people waiting for hours on end. We came back the next day at 7 am when they opened and we finally got seated. Food was mediocre. Coffee was machine made. The stars are for the poor waitress that was too kind serving us that morning. Management needs to step it up and recruit more employees and improve overall rating of this restaurant. read more

Whitebark staff, I write this review through the lens of being a fellow server and part of the hospitality industry. My husband and I travel around the United States and internationally for his work, and we stay at a lot of hotels (especially Westin properties) and I was pretty shocked by the lack of service during breakfast service. To the management who is reading this, the following review is being posted in the hopes of improving the status quo and to increase the training that is so desperately needed, not to get anybody fired. Breakfast servers: 1) Keep your cell phones put away while you are working. Your eyes should be up at all times scanning your tables to see if your tops need anything. Don't wait for a table to ask if they need hot sauce or ketchup or more water, you should be constantly roaming, anticipating their needs. 2) When you go to refill coffee at one of your tables, you should offer coffee to all the tables even if they're not your tops. Watching one server pass by our table no less than 5 times without offering to refill our coffee or water blew my mind. 3) Check in with your table after the food has been served to see if everything is OK. My omelette was incredibly bland and I wanted to request Parmesan cheese and hot sauce but I could not get my servers attention to request it and I couldn't get the other server to stop at our table. Our server never once came back to our table between dropping the food and the bill. 4) When see a table has been sat, but it's not yours and you notice that the other server isn't checking in with them, touch base with that table and let them know that their server will be over soon. We sat for almost 10 minutes without having anybody check in with us, offer us, coffee, or anything. 5) To the busser/server assistant's who had one ear bud in during service, take it out dude, you're at work. We tried Whitebark last night for dinner since it's so close to where we are staying, and the menu looked pretty decent. Upon arrival, we were seated promptly for our reservation. The restaurant wasn't too busy because it was still on the earlier side (5:45). The server came to the table with some small glasses of water about halfway full (with no ice) and asked if we wanted to put in any orders to start off with. My husband asked for a Diet Coke and I ordered the crab soup as a starter. We asked a few questions about the menu, put our dinner order in, and the waiter said the soup would be out shortly. Cut to 40 minutes later and I'm still waiting for my soup. They finally bring it out with our daughter's dinner and the soup has a skin on it from sitting out so long and it's barely warm. It tasted fine, but warm crab chowder is not too appealing. After another 10-15 minutes, my husband's poutine and my ribeye came out. The ribeye wasn't great looking but I ate most of it anyway despite it being a pretty poor cut of meat and definitely not worth $65. My husband said his dinner was fine, but he regretted not getting a hamburger instead. Mind you, we've received zero refills on our half full small glasses of water at this point and we've been there over an hour. All of our glasses were empty (including the Diet Coke) and the waiter was totally MIA. I kept looking around, hoping that someone else working there would see that we were in need of something and would offer to help. Nope. I finally had to stop someone as they were rushing by our table to see if we could get some refills. So, the hostess came by and refilled our drinks. The hostess! The waiter never came back to the table. Not to check on the food, see if we needed anything...nothing. The hostess bussed the table and we asked her if she could have the waiter bring our check. The hostess actually brought it and then took it to run our credit card. Seriously?! Where is the waiter?! We paid, and as we were getting up to leave, the elusive waiter finally came by and said he hopes we enjoyed the food (meh) and to enjoy the rest of our stay in Mammoth.
