Stop here for a bite to eat if you don't want to go all the way down to on of the lodges. They have pretty much anything Canyon and Main lodge would serve. Getting a spot viewing the top of the mountain while having a beer or hot chocolate is what make McCoy Station a go to. I will say the new AI system to check out was pretty finicky and couldn't differentiate between a soda and a hot chocolate made the checkout process harder than it should've been. read more

Honestly that was a good sandwich. Grilled patties, caramelized onions, Pastrami. It's rich and balanced. Fries were good too. Crispy and well seasoned. Thick cuts. But 23$ for that sandwich is insane. Probably will go back to starving on ski days. read more

Awesome spot for lunch! Seemed like it was going to be bit of a trek for a beginner skier like myself to make it from Eagle Lodge area, but it didn't end up being bad at all. Just a small section of blue to get between Eagle and Canyon, but otherwise had green run paths from Canyon to Mill and then up to McCoy's. The coolest part of McCoy's is the view! This station is halfway up the mountain, and you can also get to it from the Main Lodge area by a panoramic lower gondola that you can ride up and back down. From McCoy station, you can also take the Upper Panorama gondola to ride up all the way to The Summit for spectacular views and either ski down (advanced) or take the gondola back down. The upper gondola was closed when I was there (poor visibility and lots of snow/wind), but I am glad I have been able to take it up on a previous trip because it is very worth it. We got lunch at the McCoy marketplace. While the food options weren't as expansive as at Canyon, I thought the food here tasted the best. We got chicken tenders and fries (like children haha) that were actually so good (and ranch + ketchup on the side). I saw someone else get a giant loaded baked potato that looked amazing. As ski lodges go, McCoy Station is a good one. It's easy to access, has plenty of ski racks, and clean restrooms. I stopped here a few times during my last ski trip. It wasn't too crowded during lunch and the lines were short. I had the chili twice, which at $10.00 a bowl is a good price. Well for a ski lodge anyway. The chili was really hearty and had just the right amount of spice for me. It was a good sized serving and really hit the spot on a cold day. I rarely, if ever leave 1 star reviews but unfortunately McCoy station has earned it. Up until pre-COVID, McCoy Station was a solid 3.5 stars. You could get decent pizza, soup, chowder, burger,etc. Me and my buddy always ate there when skiing Mammoth (perfect location). Then something changed, and not for the better. The pizza went to these pre-made weird oval shaped servings instead of a real pizza with slices, the burger and chicken sandwiches became weird and the choice of drinks went down. Me and my ski buddy got ski on the pizza in the past and now, recently, the chicken sandwich made me queasy. Now I'm afraid to try anything else. Note that the staff is very nice, the location is still great and it has a really nice view. But if you are going to do your rest stop there, bring your own food. I really hope management realizes soon they need to change back. Please make quality decent ski resort food again. read more

My usual stop for a break from boarding. They have a large seating area which is always full, but also a downstairs section that usually has space available. When the weather is nice the outside patio is great. They have a large cafeteria style area with lots of options and big portions. I don't like to eat to much on my breaks so I usually share a meal to get me through the day. I love the salad as it is build tour own, but the chicken is way to dry. The hot chocolate though is a must! Sometimes I only stop for this and it never dissapoints. read more

The food is 3 1/2 stars if you are just a person that doesn't ski/snowboard. If you ski/snowboard, the food and drink there is a really great refresher. My personal favorite is the clam chowder in a bread bowl. The soup in the bread bowl being only 10$ is a really good price. MY ONE COMPLAINT: PLEASE ADD APPLE PAY. I had an incident where I didn't have a credit card, and I couldn't buy the food for about 30 mins. Thankfully, the cashier let me eat the food and then pay after. There's always plenty of seating downstairs. I wish all ski resorts had a downstairs, I always feel like I'm searching for a seat when I have lunch when I'm skiing. Go to the Asian station - it's pretty tasty and you get a good amount of food without having to wait in line. And don't miss the Bloody Mary's!! They sell them at all the lodges and they are my favorite Bloody Mary's. The food is overpriced and the grill line is always way too long to wait in. I don't ski, so I seriously came here for the views and apres ski. Now, reviewing a ski resort dining area is truly a first for me! Well, considering that this establishment is located on a mountain that you must either ski to our take a gondola to, the views are out of this world! Score: 5 stars Drinks: The bar area has a wonderful variety of hot and cold cocktails. My group of 4 all ordered the Mammoth Mocha to warm us up. The cocktail was delicious. The wait for drinks was longer than expected and didn't taste like there was enough booze in it for the price. It was a nice, delicious warming drink to savor while we also drank in the views. The food court has a bunch of types of grub almost all of them overpriced... the secret deal of the day is the small chili cheese fries for under $6 and totally filling but extremely carby... otherwise the $9 pile it as high as you can salad bar salad is likely the best deal. They have bathrooms upstairs and downstairs. There never seems to be a line for the downstairs bathrooms though... The main floor also has a starbucks/coffee stand/gift shop randomly and yeah you can even buy some new special ski sox if you need them there... None the less its a spot to netflix n chill... if you like it cold and in front of a huge massive crowd... otherwise stop in when you need an overpriced nibble or a quadruple venti hot chocolate or some hot buttered rum... read more

This is a huge mid-mountain station that has a large food court and serves as a good resting area to avoid going to the overcrowded base stations. That being said, this place is jammed pack too. If you're coming here for lunch mid-day, make sure to come in by noon to avoid the 12:30 rush of people. Go Mammoth! Daou Winery had a pop up tasting at McCoy Station. The decoration was amazing. And it was nice to ski up to the lodge and enjoy a free wine tasting. They shard three wines. Two that can be found locally, like at Costco. And a Cabernet you can only get in Paso Robles. I have been to the winery before and it's fabulous. So it was a wonderful surprise to taste. McCoy is definitely my favorite place to take a break or chill while riding in Mammoth. It doesn't hurt that it sits right next to my favorite Face Lift Express lift. Kickin it at mid-mountain is the place to be on a sunny bluebird day! There is plenty of indoor and outdoor seating and it's super cool when they have a DJ outside playing some tunes. Also, there is a bar inside if you feel the need to take it easy for the day =). All the food here is overpriced and is usually hit-or-miss. I wouldn't recommend the hot dogs with chili even though they are pretty delicious after a good number of runs. read more

If you don't want to deal with the crowds at the base of the mountain, work your way up to McCoy Station for lunch. Don't get me wrong, it's crowded, just less crowded. The food is OK with a variety of choices. I had the steak burrito which was standard fare, C+. You can also get something cold or warm to drink. The cost per person is about what you might expect, just shy of $20 for food and an adult beverage. Ps. Got food poisoning from this place yesterday. It wiped out my second day of skiing I went up to the soup and potato bar. I asked for clam chowder, big mistake. I was served by a Latina lady who had a bad attitude . My friend got sick at the same bar same day with a different soup. I will never eat at McCoy station again. Too risky That was a $10 bowl of soup that cost me a $200 day. For all you health conscious people it doesn't take a microbiologist to figure out how contaminated the food can be when they're pushing so much through per hour per day. Beware! As of June 2018 the manager of McCoy station cafe fired this Latino woman for being careless and getting people sick including myself. This is my favorite lunch spot on Mammoth Mountain. There is a variety of food options (Asian, burgers, soup/chili, Mexican, pizza, salad bar), a great bar (Steeps) with sports channels on if you just feel like chilling out, and plenty of seating. As with most ski resorts, lunch ain't cheap but you are welcome to bring your own lunch if you like. The outdoor patio on a sunny day is rocking! The best thing about McCoy Station is the easy access to the mid-station gondola to get you to the runs at the top. A great spot to meet up with friends :) read more

Our favorite mid-mountain stop for apres-ski, during-ski, before-ski, etc. We love to get a beer (Mammoth Brew Co, of course) and a bloody mary and spend time on the outside deck when the weather is beautiful, as it so often is. It can often be hard to find a place to sit, but people want to get back on the slopes so tables turn over quickly. Please be courteous and bus your table when you are finished! There are separate lines inside for Mexican, Soup/Potatoes, Grill, and Salad. The tostada salad was surprisingly good, with the vegetables not too soggy and the meat not too salty. When you are the mountain you do not have many choices. For a world class resort like Mammoth, this is the most disappointing experience. Come on guys, you want to be world class and compete with the Big Boys - get the food up to par. We want items like fresh sushi and sandwiches, move the cookies to the cash registers and use the space over there for fresh healthy choices. Even the sandwiches at the grill are on hamburger buns, where is the whole wheat or healthier choices. The soup is never hot enough, although it does make it a challenge to tackle the microwave in ski boots and carrying a tray. Let's get on the same scale as Deer Valley or Vail, we deserve it and so does the resort. Rethink, rearrange and get out of the cafeteria mode. Two weeks ago we stopped at Main Lodge instead of McCoys and they were just taking out frozen burgers and dried up chicken breast at 12:30pm.....who does this on the weekend. If you're a Mammoth season pass holder like myself, then you know that McCoy station is the place to lunch after intense morning runs on the mountain. Being mid-mountain, McCoy Station gets less traffic than Main Lodge or Canyon Lodge so it's not as packed. Fortunately, it's large enough that it has all the food options that are available at the lower lodges. You can get Mexican, Asian, Italian, salad bar and waffles from the wafflewich bar. But like any amusement type of park, the prices are ridiculously overpriced. Be prepared to spend $15 on a meal. Two fish tacos will run you $10.50. Crazy! read more

This place has the best convenience as well as some of the best food. Great place to stop for lunch! ACCESS: you can get here from almost anywhere on the mountain. Even the non-skiers can hitch a ride on the gondola to get up here. For everyone else, it's right in the middle of the mountain. SEATING: Probably the largest dining area on the mountain. There's an outside patio by the bar, an inside bar, a large main floor, and a huge area downstairs for overflow. Great for groups to find a table together. One day I had the chili served in a bread bowl, the next day I had a slice of 8 dollar pizza along with a homemade doughnut. The food is about what I would expect for a slope-side restaurant and the prices are as well. I hate paying 8 dollars for a piece of generic pizza with mediocre taste but they got you by the balls there. The alternative is 32 bucks for an entire pizza, so what can you do. After hitting the slopes on a cold, windy day or even a warm, sunny day, I always look forward to lunch at McCoys. This is definitely one of the most popular places to eat on the mountain for lunch. Usually, finding seats on the main floor is hard since it's always packed. However, there is always plenty of room downstairs. Be warned, the downstairs area is significantly colder. McCoys is located on the middle of the mountain so you have to ski down to it. You could also take the gondola up from Main Lodge. My guilty pleasure is the chili cheese fries-- so filling and unhealthy. A basket is enough to share amongst two people, or if you're feeling particularly indulgent you can devour it yourself :) I usually get something from "The Grill" or the Soup and Potato bar. The pizza is meh, and the "Asian" selections are gross. They have a myriad of drinks. Seriously, the drink selection is great. Still, the prices are wayyyyy too high. Then again, no matter where you go to eat on the mountain, it'll be expensive. I'm still not exactly sure why I like McCoys over the other eating cafeterias on the mountain. Maybe it's tradition.
