Entrance to store with line out the door!
    Jay T.

We had been to the store in Bishop, and the one in June Lake, so had to complete the Eastern Sierra ice cream trilogy we had started! We came in the evening, and the line was out the door. Fortunately, it moved fairly quickly, and we had our ice cream before we knew it. After getting lavender twice, I decided to try the banana chocolate chip, which was very good, but the lavender is still better IMO. They have a few tables outside facing the main road and we got a seat there to just hang out and enjoy our ice cream. My mom got lavender again, it is confirmed both our favorites, although we haven't tried them all, yet...

Flight was bigger than I expected! Loved the Speculoos flavor. Toffee Coffee flavor was also good. Raspberry Sorbet was tart but refreshing. Employee was very busy but had a great attitude. Small dining area, but has outside seating.

We have been on an ie cream kick lately. Handels just came to Reno where I live and I wasn't expecting Local Scoop to be as good as Handels, but it was even better! The flavors were very good and balanced. I liked the ability to get a flight, even though the flights were super messy they were a great way to try all of the different types of ice cream that Local Scoop offers. There was a line when we went, so I can't say I am the first to find this place truly amazing. There isn't really inside seating, and the outside seating is just two picnic tables. With how good this place is, they should be there the next time you are in Mammoth. Give them a try, I know you will like it. Also, SO cool that they offer a free lactaid!!! GENIUS!!! The prices are a little steeper than some places and a little less than other places I have been, but the quality of the ice cream was very good in my opinion. My favorite was the Black Raspberry Chocolate. But the lemon one was really good too. All in all my wife and I tried 13 different flavors over the two times we went. Each one was spot on GREAT!

First timer here, saw the other posts and I knew I wanted to try a flight. I got rainbow sherbet (so good) , coconut (so good), mango (had pieces), and coffee , Carmel, some local favorite (did I say so good?) I couldn't finish it. Don't let the size fool you, lol The two young ladies behind the counter were friendly and helpful.

After a busy day of hiking and exploring, we were in the mood for a good scoop of ice cream. We were delighted to stumble upon this spot with dozens of flavors to choose from and ample outdoor seating. The service was fast and friendly, and I thought it was so thoughtful of them to include free lactaid for those who need it! We tried cookie dough, speculoos, mud pie, and black raspberry chocolate chip (right to left) and they were all delicious- very balanced, not too rich and not too icy. If you're ever in Mammoth, highly recommend getting the flight here!

This place is a great addition to the community. The staff is friendly, the service is top notch, and the ice cream is outstanding. It's a must have when we visit Mammoth, even in the winter. Where else can you get an ice cream flight?! Keep up the good work!

We came here Thursday night around 8 pm and it was very busy. There was only one girl working, with a huge group of about 10 people in front of us, our group of four, and two couples behind us. We were very patient and used the wait time to fully decide what we wanted, especially since there's a huge variety of flavors and options. I really felt for her having to handle the rush alone and understand how overwhelming that must have been. Once she finished with the large group, my boyfriend ordered a milkshake and she loudly exhaled in frustration and gave him a look, which caught all of us off guard. It was uncomfortable, especially after being patient and ready to order. Because of that reaction, the rest of us kept our orders very simple and just got ice cream. Flavor wise, the mud pie was the group favorite, and I got the coffee ice cream which I really enjoyed. It is a bit on the pricey side, but I did enjoy trying a new ice cream spot in Mammoth. She was kinder by the time we were paying, and again, I truly understand the stress of working solo during a rush. Overall, the ice cream itself was really good and I appreciate how hard she was working during such a busy night. While the service moment was a bit uncomfortable, this felt like an experience that landed somewhere between 3 and 4 stars.

Very cute local shop! There are a lot of unique flavors like banana chocolate chip, cinnamon churro

I forgot to take a picture earlier :( So yummy I finished it

Quite literally the ONLY good food spot in Mammoth!! AND I'd give it a 5/5 because we will be visiting again. So yummy and they let you try any flavor! Expensive but everything in Mammoth is expected to be expensive. My boyfriend and I BOTH got the banana chocolate chip. So good I would highly recommend. If I could describe it, it is the baskin robbins chocolate chip ice cream but banana flavor. The banana flavor is so subtle, almost like it's banana/vanilla!

ok so despite the crazy line we waited on for this, it was amazing!!! Shoutout to the girls manning the counter as they were hustling to get everyone their ice creams as quickly as possible. This place is super cute. Very decorated in an ice cream theme. They have larger than life jimmies along the wall and counter. Bright complementary colors that bring on all the happy nostalgia that a scoop shop should. Their logo is so amazing and perfect for an ice creamery in Mammoth. In terms of the ice cream they have many of the typical flavors you would look for and expect but some fun ones thrown in. I was so excited to see they had a lemon poppyseed as I had not found this elsewhere. It was absolutely true to taste. I ultimately opted for a shake since we would be walking back to our hotel two blocks over. They will let you mix flavors for the shakes. I combined the lemon poppyseed with their speculoos(cookie butter) and it was incredible. Still getting all the lemony poppyseed goodness with just a hint more of the butter baked good sweetness from the cookie butter. Can't wait to go again on my next trip!

The food is decent, it's never going to absolutely wow you but it will be sufficient and well priced. This time I tried their mac and cheese, it was cheesy and I liked the type of pasta noodle they used that allowed it to get extra crispy and crunchy with the spiral texture, however it was a little dry and on the blander side for mac! The ordering system is great and straightforward, you order and pay on your phone and then food appears straight to your table! Genius, convenient and perfect for groups as there's no splitting the bill awkwardly at the end. And the dog friendliness is so clutch, our pups always enjoy the sunshine and rest. Our party of six had been waiting to be seated when another party of six arrived after us. Eventually, someone from their group asked about the wait, and the male host said, "We have a table," and waved them in. When we asked about when we would be seated since we arrived before the previous group, he claimed he had already called our name. All six of us had been seated, listening and heard parties being called--our group was never called. Kayla did apologize for the mix up, since she was aware we were waiting before the other group. Since we have been going to The Stove for years, we decided to give it another try, so later in the week, we pre-ordered three pies several days in advance and later added a fourth (Kayla added the fourth). When we arrived, only one pie (the one Kayla put in) was available, and we were told we could come back in two days--even though we were leaving the next day. The male staff member insisted we had changed our order, but the handwritten order sheet in the clipboard did show what we had originally requested. The other host was apologetic but told us the mix up was because Kayla (who wasn't there at the time) made a mistake and didn't complete the order. We explained that the male host took our order. We appreciated that she discounted the one pie we did receive. Instead of eating there, we went to The Warming Hut down the street, where the service was friendly, the food arrived quickly, and our food was good. We understand mistakes happen, but it was the dismissive and rude customer service of the male host --not the mistakes themselves--that made this experience so disappointing.
