TOP. TIER. COFFEE. My family and I were making our way to Mammoth Lakes and made a pit stop for some caffeine. This cafe is ~5 min drive or ~10 min walk from Erick Schat's Bakkerÿ. Parking was fairly easy, located in the back of their shop. Upon entry, you see an array of items ranging from stickers, postcards, their merch, and their coffee beans. There was no wait & the baristas were polite when taking our orders, they had ample seating inside and outside, and there's a restroom adjacent to the building but you need to ask for the key. This place was so good that we stopped by twice, on our way to Mammoth Lakes and before we made our way back home. Both times we ordered iced lattes with their house made syrups and milk alternatives (Total for 4 larges w/ milk alternatives & syrup add-ons: ~$27) and we took home 2 of their bags of beans. They had food options as well, but we didn't take a look at them. Very sad that we live so far away, but good for my wallet or else it would've been empty from daily visits. read more

Very tasty matcha and coffee for a reasonable price! Banana bread latte was great and the staff even comped one for us because they made an extra by accident! So sweet! This was a real find passing through Bishop. We had a Dirty Hippee, and the homemade chai was so good I bought some to bring home in Pasadena. The pastries looked good and they had breakfast burritos as well, but didn't try any food. The place had such a mellow vibe for a coffeehouse...I looked at all the photos of climbers on the walls, the bulletin board...I'm not even local. The art for sale was so awesome I bought a smaller version (cards) by David Kirk. I even bought a unique handmade sugar spoon carved by a local craftsman from a piece of wood gathered in the Sierra Nevada. It came with a mini crocheted bag made by the barista. The worst cold brew I've ever had. Service was terrible. Cashier had an attitude. She then forgot my pastry, forgot my girlfriends drink then Dumped it out when she didn't know why it was behind the counter. We Finally got it, tried to drink each one but they were undrinkable. While passing through Bishop we decided to check out a local coffee shop. Black Sheep Espresso Bar was a cute little coffee shop with tons of seating inside and a large patio area out back. The staff here was extremely friendly and pretty quick getting out the coffees even with the decent amount of people here. We decided to have a fruit croissant and a ham and cheese danish. These were pretty tasty, but the real winner was the Banana Bread Latte from the Fall Specials. It literally tasted like a fresh homemade banana bread straight out of the oven! read more

Cute little coffee shop nestled away in Bishop. We were looking for some hot bean water while charging the car and we always try to stay with small local shops. This one did not disappoint at all, the service was great, they even put up with my wife calling a medium a grande..... for a second I thought we were getting kicked out. Jokes aside, this place has killer ambiance and the decor is really fun to look at. They also have lots of small things on sale that you could bring back home with you. We got 2 pastries, not the absolute best but for what it's worth they were tasty and filled us up. The standout here was the special Banana Bread Latte, that thing is KILLER!!!! A really great coffee spot in Bishop that opens early. I almost missed the store, but I found the entrance in the back where there was parking. Service was very friendly. From the first sip, your mouth is blasted with banana bread flavor which complements the espresso well. I really liked the mural behind, and parking behind is easy to find with lots of wide spots. Black Sheep Espressos Bar prides themselves on the quality of the beans that they use for their coffee products. The coffeeshop itself is a nice comfortable space that looks like it would be a great place to sit and network or study at. On the menu are espresso drinks, teas, freshly bakes items and breakfast burritos. You can purchase their coffee beans to take home in the merchandise area. We stopped in the day after Christmas and had a disappointing experience. While waiting for our drinks, a man came in around 10 minutes before closing and waited at the counter for several minutes to place an order. When he was finally acknowledged, the barista told him that there were too many drinks ahead of his and that they would be closed by the time they were finished. The customer explained that he had been waiting and was ready to order, but the barista refused to take it. What stood out most was the lack of courtesy--there was no apology or empathy, and the interaction came across as unnecessarily rude. Amazing drinks and service! We had the cortado, kids hot coco and a brown sugar almond milk latte....all perfect! Espresso was flavorful and not acidic at all. I have friends who typically get their caffeine fix across the street but they were happy I introduced them to Black Sheep where their furry friend can hang out with us in the back patio underneath some shade. I ordered a banana matcha to share and they seemed to have liked it. Their sign in the front includes "Beer Garden" and I did notice some taps they have in the back. They have a bathroom but you have to go out back and 2 doors over. You'll need the key and of course, it's attached to a metallic black sheep! read more

The coffee quality and service here is phenomenal. Especially for ordering beans, wow! The turnaround time is incredible and you get very freshly roasted beans. I've received orders that I placed online in under 72 hours, roasted the day after I placed the order. They also have one of the few truly great decaf lighter roasts I have found.
