While passing through Bishop we decided to check out a local coffee shop. Black Sheep Espresso Bar was a cute little coffee shop with tons of seating inside and a large patio area out back. The staff here was extremely friendly and pretty quick getting out the coffees even with the decent amount of people here. We decided to have a fruit croissant and a ham and cheese danish. These were pretty tasty, but the real winner was the Banana Bread Latte from the Fall Specials. It literally tasted like a fresh homemade banana bread straight out of the oven! read more

Cute little coffee shop nestled away in Bishop. We were looking for some hot bean water while charging the car and we always try to stay with small local shops. This one did not disappoint at all, the service was great, they even put up with my wife calling a medium a grande..... for a second I thought we were getting kicked out. Jokes aside, this place has killer ambiance and the decor is really fun to look at. They also have lots of small things on sale that you could bring back home with you. We got 2 pastries, not the absolute best but for what it's worth they were tasty and filled us up. The standout here was the special Banana Bread Latte, that thing is KILLER!!!! This was a nice discovery while passing through Bishop. I was in need of a quick pick-me-up for the road and was looking for a quality cup of coffee. Black Sheep Espressos Bar prides themselves on the quality of the beans that they use for their coffee products. The coffeeshop itself is a nice comfortable space that looks like it would be a great place to sit and network or study at. On the menu are espresso drinks, teas, freshly bakes items and breakfast burritos. You can purchase their coffee beans to take home in the merchandise area. I loved my iced latte and enjoyed my quick visit to Black Sheep Espresso. There is parking on the side of the building and in the back. To all you top tier coffee enthusiast, Black Sheep is the Onyx, Verve, Arcade coffee spot of Bishop. If James Hoffman or Lance Hendricks were traveling, Black Sheep would definitely be their stop. Black Sheep will definitely be our religious stop just as Schat's Bakery is. When anyone says Bishop Ca, everyone thinks of Schat's. We stopped in the day after Christmas and had a disappointing experience. While waiting for our drinks, a man came in around 10 minutes before closing and waited at the counter for several minutes to place an order. When he was finally acknowledged, the barista told him that there were too many drinks ahead of his and that they would be closed by the time they were finished. The customer explained that he had been waiting and was ready to order, but the barista refused to take it. What stood out most was the lack of courtesy--there was no apology or empathy, and the interaction came across as unnecessarily rude. Kindness goes a long way, and in a small town, word travels fast--word of negative experiences travel even faster. read more

Syrups are all made in house as well (want to try their chai next). This is a where you want to go while in Bishop for your well balanced traditional espresso drinks. I have friends who typically get their caffeine fix across the street but they were happy I introduced them to Black Sheep where their furry friend can hang out with us in the back patio underneath some shade. I ordered a banana matcha to share and they seemed to have liked it. Their sign in the front includes "Beer Garden" and I did notice some taps they have in the back. They have a bathroom but you have to go out back and 2 doors over. You'll need the key and of course, it's attached to a metallic black sheep! read more

The coffee quality and service here is phenomenal. Especially for ordering beans, wow! The turnaround time is incredible and you get very freshly roasted beans. I've received orders that I placed online in under 72 hours, roasted the day after I placed the order. They also have one of the few truly great decaf lighter roasts I have found. It's a good balance between spice and espresso but I just wish it was hotter. They also had limited bakery items and premade breakfast burritos. Great little coffee shop. We stopped in for breakfast while passing through town. Everyone was super friendly! There seemed to be a lot of locals, always a good sign for a coffee house. My husband enjoyed his white chocolate mocha, and I loved the banana bread latte. It was delicious, and tasted exactly like banana bread with a sip of coffee. It wasn't overly sweet, which was nice. Really great coffee in a comfortable, non pretentious environment with local art. I love this place! The drinks are delicious and the ambiance is that of a quiet café (if you're lucky, you might hear someone play on the piano). I have ordered a drink here every time I pass through Bishop and they never disappoint. Beware, for a coffee place they don't open as early as you might like. They open at 7am so time your window and you won't be let down. 11/10 would recommend - I ALWAYS stop here when I get the chance. read more
