Look at how small the 6.30$ shake is, and the 2 pathetic "waffles". 36$ total! Ridiculous.

I paid nearly 40$ for 2 pieces of chicken, the 2 smallest waffles I've ever seen a restaurant serve, and a milkshake. Talk about low quality and high prices! This place is a complete rip off! I even had to verify with the staff that the waffles are mini sized. I will NEVER return. Disappointed is an understatement. AVOID AT ALL COSTS, YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED.

Only reason for this star is service was good. We ordered the senior pancake and then a two egg breakfast. Asked if it was possible to substitute hashbrowns rather than the meat with the senior and was told yes (never told it was an extra charge). Then they charge extra when ordering biscuits and gravy with a meal?!? So we got two scrambled eggs, 2 eggs , 2 sides of hash browns, biscuit n gravy, pancake, and 2 cups of coffee and it was almost $40!!?!? And this is at Denny's?! For crap food?!? Never again!

It's usually not busy after the breakfast/lunch rush. But I often crave pancakes at any time of day. They have an every day value slam $6.48 plus tax all day every day. Comes with 2 eggs two bacon or sausage and 2 pancakes. It's delicious affordable and filling. The to go order is packaged nicely with the eggs/meat in a compartment separate from the the pancakes.

Food was great, good service, and atmosphere was relaxed. Didn't take long to be seated.

Cucumbers with freezer burn. They were mushy and tasted nasty. This was on my Cobb salad. They charged me full price.

First of all, I have to say our server Veronica was great. She is the reason I am increasing my rating from 1 star to 2 stars. She greeted us with a smile and although she had a lot of tables to wait on she didn't make us feel rushed. I am also very patient with businesses right now because I am very aware of staffing issues and how they are impacting speed of service. We are all human and can only do so much. Because of this, I didn't really worry when we were seated for 9 minutes without a single offer of beverages. Looking around I could see that there was very few staff members working. Then Veronica came over with a smile and friendly quips and took our orders. They were out of the chicken noodle soup that I ordered and she didn't rush me while I looked at the menu to choose an alternative. My son and daughter ordered the Tennessee Chicken Sandwich and fries, which was not bad. Nothing special to write home about but not bad. My daughters boyfriend ordered a pancake breakfast which he enjoyed. My husband ordered a build your burger with a side of mashed potatoes and gravy. His meat patty was not seasoned and the chef omitted part of his add ins. The gravy was dull and flavorless. I ordered a Cobb salad and asked for no bacon and a grilled chicken breast on the side. The chicken breast was pretty good. A little on the rubbery side, but seasoned well and served at the right temperature. However, I was missing my boiled egg on the salad, and the cucumbers and lettuce had what appeared to be freezer burn. They were inedible and mushy with a horrible taste. I ate my chicken and was going to eat the cherry tomatoes. Both my husband and I popped a cherry tomato (or grape tomato?) in our mouths at the same time and promptly spit them out into our napkins. They were disgusting, seemingly affected by the same freezer burn as the rest of the salad. Also there was a big chunk of the core of the lettuce on my plate. Yuck. Our waitress was on break. I did not eat the salad. All I ate was the chicken , which I was perfectly happy paying for. When my husband went to pay he told the girl that my salad was inedible and her response was basically, "oh well. Too bad." She wouldn't adjust the check to delete the inedible Cobb salad that was still sitting on the table and didn't seem to care. That was the point where Dennys could have redeemed themselves. If she had apologized and adjusted the bill I would probably not have written this review or I would have given them 3 stars. Bad food coupled with bad service (after Veronica went on break) created a very bad experience. I have included pictures of my salad and you can clearly see the cucumbers are bad. The lettuce and tomatoes were too but it's harder to see in the pictures. You can also see the core. I had already eaten my chicken, which was ok. Come on Dennys...up your game. I know you're not an elevated dining experience but we do expect our food to be edible and service to be responsive. You're lucky you have Veronica at the Rosedale Promenade to at least rate an extra star.

NY steak was amazingly tender and cooked perfectly, the kind of steak that really does not need much done to it because the flavor already speaks for itself. They served it with chimichurri sauce, which just was not exactly my cup of tea, but once I added Worcestershire sauce, it really brought out the flavor of an already all-star steak. The Chicken Fried Steak 'n' Eggs with hash browns was also very tasty Steak even the batter had flavor and definitely worth it. The chicken fried steak had that good comfort food quality to it, with a crispy outside, tender bite, and a savory flavor that worked really well with the eggs. The hash browns helped round everything out nicely and even the biscuits and gravy which im generally not a fan of was very good. Service from Holly, and I hope I got that right, was amazing from start to finish. She was friendly, attentive, and made the visit feel easy and comfortable. Even the iced tea stood out to me because it tasted like the homemade sun tea I make every year by the pool, and that gave the whole meal an extra familiar touch. Overall, this was a very strong visit with a standout steak, a satisfying breakfast plate, and excellent service.

The steak was thin so it pretty much was all well done apart from the center being slightly pink. Such a disappointment. Country fried steak was one of the worst I've ever had, super dry, could have done with more gravy. Ordered drinks with less ice, glass came full of ice like an ordinary amount but went the wrong table at first. The restaurant was dirty. Needs sweeping as there was dirty tissue under our table before we entered but instead staff are cleaning the glass panels between the tables that aren't as dirty as the obvious tissues on the floor. Are they hoping the decor draws eyes up away from the dirty floor? 2 stars for the retro decor.

The food was good. The tri tip and chicken fried steak were full of flavor and seasoned well. The only negative we would say about the food is the tri tip was a little on the dry side, and the chicken fried steak was mostly batter. Both still tasted good, though. Just wished the tri tip was juicier and chicken fried steak was proportioned better with meat vs batter. Sides were really good (descriptions in the pics). Food was 4 stars. Atmosphere is very old school feel. They even had the Price Is Right from probably the 70's or 80's playing on the tv. Brought back funny memories. Overall, recommend. Very good local restaurant.

The rib was probably the best of the meats. The trip was okay. The food is buffet food so I don't have really high expectations. For a traditional family style buffet I would give the a 3.5 on the food. They had a great selection on salads made in house. The meat guy recommended the broccoli salad and I tried it. It was pretty good. It's been at least 15 years since I've had broccoli salad. That did not disappoint. My wife liked the good variety and selection, and the fried chicken was pretty good. My son liked the apple cobbler and their homemade peanut butter cookies. The service was exceptional. Everyone working there was pleasant and friendly. 5 of 5 for service. The atmosphere, the design and theme was very appropriate, although dated it is still very welcoming and appropriate for the venue. With that being said, the carpet was filthy and the upholstery was warn and old. It looks dated and tired. They can keep the overall theme and look, but give the restaurant an updated facelift of sorts. The seasonal decorations were nice. The store gift shop sold miscellaneous items including some of their baked goods, so that was cool. The lighting needs to be updated. That would really enhance their atmosphere. The bathrooms. You can learn a lot about a place from the bathroom. These weren't filthy per se but the floors were pretty nasty. It always grosses me out when my shoes stick to the tiles. The fixtures were on par with a lot of the restaurant, old, dated, and tired. Formica countertops? A lot of these design elements just need to be polished up. I think this is a great part of the Bakersfield community, but I think it's been a bit neglected. It's probably family owned for a while and the kids or whatever have gotten complacent with the business. I'm not saying it is poorly ran and the positive experience with their staff can attest to that. But they can use some freshening up. Tip to owner, I didn't see any take out happening during my visit but in today's food retail market, take out is HUGE! Especially with the Holiday season and football games etc. I have a feeling you are missing out on some of your local market. Reach out if you want a more detailed discussion. Bakersfield is poised to grow and i hope that you are poised to grow as a local business as well. I'm glad we stopped by on our way back to Sacramento.
