I am frequently disappointed with the food at this place. Unfortunately I eat late nights and there isn't much open after 10pm. I often order the avocado grilled chicken caesar salad and 100% of the time I order it there is very little dressing. I always tell them to please make the salad with dressing and let me pay for a side of dressing. I am not sure they understand what I mean by that. I have yet to get a salad the way I want it. The mozzarella sticks are always missing the side of ranch I order and the marinara sauce is always cold. It is mostly a miss here, so good luck with your salad order. Expect to be disappointed like me. I still ordered it again tonight and for some reason my optimism keeps me hoping it will be done right one of these nights... lol read more

Didn't get silverware, I asked for no pickles, food sat out and cook had to yell for waitresses to get the food, silverware wasn't even ready when I went up and asked for it. Asked for a refill on my water never got it. Also didn't get greeted when we walked in and there was an employee right in front of us, we didn't get napkins, appetizer came the same time as the food. I entered and was directed to the counter. The gal took my order brought my drink. 30 minutes later my food arrived. My over easy eggs were over cooked and the yokes were broken and I never saw the server again. She walked by, I asked for the check. A coule minutes later , she threw it on the counter and kept walking. No , thank you, have a good day, happy new year, NOTHING. The cashier asked how my food and service was. I briefly told her. She says " oh, didn't they tell you the kitchen was backed up?" I said, not my problem. She says I know, but there were still supposed to tell you. Well, I'm sorry, happy new year. We came here around 6 pm for dinner. Our server's name was Jessica she took really great care of us, she was very patient with our children and always had a smile. Food came out pretty fast they forgot my avocado but they immediatly fixed the issue. The staff here were very polite when we came in. We were instantly greeted with a smile. If I could give a lower rating I would. I went here last weekend for breakfast at around 9:30 am the restaurant was not crowded but it was taking forever to get seated . There were approximately 8 partied waiting to be seated when two middle age gentlemen walked in, they apparently knew the management and walked right to the back I assumed they were going to sit at the counter but they proceeded to take up two tables. When someone spoke to them about the situation the manager was. Very unprofessional, she gave him the phone number to the corporate office but said with in earshot of the customer who asked for the number that it wouldn't do any good to call apparently she either is a general mgr or knows one . I've got to say this has been hands down one of the greatest experiences I've had at any Denny's in bakersfield! They were super busy yet the manager Regina provided excellent customer service by going to each individual table making sure everyone was doing great! I have never seen a manager who truly cares about her guests the way she does and I've got to say her happiness and great atmosphere really shows in her servers too because our server Jessica was kind and didn't get a thing wrong! I just want to send my sincere appreciation to the Manager Mike and our wonderful waitress Sharan. They both treated my family and I with the most care and respect. Even before COVID my family and I never really ate out very much. But we decided to take advantage of the veterans day Build your own grand slam special. Wow I didn't know a restaurant could mess up one simple thing. Seating. Yes this Denny managed to mess up seating people. I waited half an hour for a table while people who came in after me got seated first. And I was waiting with 30 other people who were there when I got there. And there was a lot of empty tables and I never got seated and had to eat breakfast else were. The hostess is terrible at her job and should be fired. I've been here multiple times with my fiance, but every time seemingly gets worse. We came on New Years Eve at about 11:30, and despite having nearly the entire dining room empty, they told us we had to wait 20 minutes. No big deal, and when we got seated, our order was taken almost immediately. We ordered a sampler and two breakfast meals, all which came out pretty quickly too. The sampler looked to be about half the size of what it once was despite paying the same price, and we didnt even get to eat out appetizer before the food came our right away. Never saw our waitress again until we were about to leave, and never recieved a refill while we ate. They also forgot multiple pieces of our food and never asked how the food was once. Content with never coming back here again, and the food seems to get more and more expensive! read more

The worst service ever. Usually we get good service here. We came for breakfast. We walked in and the hostess wasn't very friendly. We asked for a both, there were several empty ones. She said she didn't have any. We were seated in one of those booths. We waited for several minutes to order our coffee and asked to order our food too. We waited some more to get our coffee. We waited for a refill and had to ask twice for it. Then waited for creamer. My husband went and got it himself. My waffle was cold. The butter didn't melt at all. Sometimes I find myself out after 9:00 pm in Bakersfield without having had the opportunity to eat. At this point, most restaurants are closed or have the bar open with the kitchen as an afterthought. My friend and I were in this unfortunate position last night, so we pulled into this Denny's. The Good: The food was fine and up to Denny's standards. Our waitress was polite and worked hard to check on us during our evening. The Bad: I received a lecture from a manager regarding how to order from the menu. You read that correctly. Usually when I eat at Denny's, I order the fish and chips. When I placed my order with our waitress, there was a bit of confusion about which sides I wanted. When the plate came back, I had received the wrong side. Honestly, this is not too big of a deal to me. I understand that mistakes can be made, and I did not express irritation at our server. Unfortunately, a few minutes after our waitress went to correct our order, a manager came to explain, for "next time," that the fish and chips only comes with two sides. She went on to inform me that she had instructed her waitress with this information as well. Except, the only reason I received three sides was because of the mix up with the order. Neither I nor the waitress finished the order believing that I would be receiving more food than I paid for. Having a manager imply that I somehow grifted them out of a small order of broccoli was a little surreal. I personally will not be back to this location, but it's possible that the manager had an off night. read more

I'm from San Diego, used to most Denny's having low quality, HOWEVER this Denny's happens to be the best Denny's I've ever came to. I don't know if it's the fact that it's the middle of the farmland and produce is shipped quicker? But the food was delicious. I'm not used to getting quality food at a franchise diner. I'm ALSO not used to having such great service alongside good food at a place like Denny's. My waitress was Elizabeth(Liz)she had a cool tattoo on her arm. She was very kind, and willing to get us what we wanted. Perfectly enthusiastic, kept my coffee glass full and even gave us to go cups as we are traveling to Sacramento .. coffee Is a must. The table behind was more needy than usual and I was expected a head shake or something from Liz but she took it with a grain of salt and a smile on her face. Everything but our waitress was terrible. The 1 star is for her. They said it would be a 20 minute wait. Waiting area was full so we sit on the bench outside. 20 mins later I go inside and the waiting area is empty as I walk past to use the restroom. When I come out we sit in the waiting area still nothing. I go up to the hostess and they said they called our name 3x! When!?! We were sitting outside at their provided bench. No one thought to look right outside the door because ur lobby is packed?! So we are finally seated. Utensils were dirty and nasty. When the food comes nothing is hot. Really barely warm. Room temp over easy egg. Gross. Toast burnt. Everything is just mediocre. Lots of tables were empty but ppl were still waiting. They need more staff on a Saturday morning.
