Grabbed dinner at Denny's with my husband tonight and our server Justin was great. Friendly and fast service on his behalf and the kitchen did a great job on our bourbon bacon burger and seasoned fries. We split the meal and they even went above and split it for us before bringing it out. It was a very pleasant surprise as such service is not typically expected at Denny's but Justin and tonight's kitchen staff definitely delivered great service. read more

"I'm a 25-year-old male and visited this location at 1 a.m. on a weekend with my girlfriend. While we were seated quickly, the experience went downhill immediately. When the food arrived, I was told they couldn't make what I ordered; instead, they served me something completely different that I couldn't eat--and they still charged me for it. I was never notified of the change before the food arrived. I also felt judged because of my age; it seemed the staff assumed I wouldn't tip, which led to horrible service. I had to beg for refills . This was by far the worst experience I have ever had me and a friend went in about 11:15 pm and was told that there were doing a shift change so it would be at least 15-20 minutes before we could sit so we waited and got sat 25 minutes later . The waitress took our order was very polite, once our order was placed it took about 20 to 30 minutes to get our food which was really out and the food was not even fresh nor was the order correct so I asked to speak to a manager or supervisor the women I spoke to said that there was no problem with the food and if I didn't want to have to pay for it than I shouldn't have wasted there time. she was very rude and unprofessional and when I asked her name she didn't want to give it to me so I before I left I asked one of my server for her name and was told it was Marth. This is the Doctor Jekyll and Mr. Hyde of the Bakersfield Denny's.  I came in late-night earlier this week and was told that the cook was on lunch for the next 25 minutes and all I could eat was salad until then; figured that was fine, I could munch on salad and sip coffee for a bit. Besides, staffing a single cook with no one to cover for lunch wasn't a third-shift cook and server's fault.  But I'm there 40 minutes before someone completely different comes by to see if I want to order anything else (and there was only one other table there). Didn't even get offered a refill on my coffee until then, and when I asked for my refill to go, they still  Came in , and there's one server on duty. He's hustling in an out of the kitchen, checking on me, greeting people when they walk in. Checks on me periodically, and even asks me how everything was at the end. Night and day from the two servers who basically seemed put out that I was even there. So 50/50 odds, at least if you're a late night diner. read more

Only reason for this star is service was good. We ordered the senior pancake and then a two egg breakfast. Asked if it was possible to substitute hashbrowns rather than the meat with the senior and was told yes (never told it was an extra charge). Then they charge extra when ordering biscuits and gravy with a meal?!? So we got two scrambled eggs, 2 eggs , 2 sides of hash browns, biscuit n gravy, pancake, and 2 cups of coffee and it was almost $40!!?!? And this is at Denny's?! For crap food?!? It's usually not busy after the breakfast/lunch rush. But I often crave pancakes at any time of day. They have an every day value slam $6.48 plus tax all day every day. Comes with 2 eggs two bacon or sausage and 2 pancakes. It's delicious affordable and filling. First of all, I have to say our server Veronica was great. She is the reason I am increasing my rating from 1 star to 2 stars. She greeted us with a smile and although she had a lot of tables to wait on she didn't make us feel rushed. I am also very patient with businesses right now because I am very aware of staffing issues and how they are impacting speed of service. We are all human and can only do so much. Because of this, I didn't really worry when we were seated for 9 minutes without a single offer of beverages. Looking around I could see that there was very few staff members working. Then Veronica came over with a smile and friendly quips and took our orders. They were out of the chicken noodle soup that I ordered and she didn't rush me while I looked at the menu to choose an alternative. My son and daughter ordered the Tennessee Chicken Sandwich and fries, which was not bad. Nothing special to write home about but not bad. My daughters boyfriend ordered a pancake breakfast which he enjoyed. My husband ordered a build your burger with a side of mashed potatoes and gravy. His meat patty was not seasoned and the chef omitted part of his add ins. The gravy was dull and flavorless. I ordered a Cobb salad and asked for no bacon and a grilled chicken breast on the side. The chicken breast was pretty good. A little on the rubbery side, but seasoned well and served at the right temperature. However, I was missing my boiled egg on the salad, and the cucumbers and lettuce had what appeared to be freezer burn. They were inedible and mushy with a horrible taste. I ate my chicken and was going to eat the cherry tomatoes. Both my husband and I popped a cherry tomato (or grape tomato?) in our mouths at the same time and promptly spit them out into our napkins. They were disgusting, seemingly affected by the same freezer burn as the rest of the salad. Also there was a big chunk of the core of the lettuce on my plate. Yuck. Our waitress was on break. I did not eat the salad. All I ate was the chicken , which I was perfectly happy paying for. When my husband went to pay he told the girl that my salad was inedible and her response was basically, "oh well. Too bad." She wouldn't adjust the check to delete the inedible Cobb salad that was still sitting on the table and didn't seem to care. That was the point where Dennys could have redeemed themselves. If she had apologized and adjusted the bill I would probably not have written this review or I would have given them 3 stars. Bad food coupled with bad service (after Veronica went on break) created a very bad experience. I have included pictures of my salad and you can clearly see the cucumbers are bad. The lettuce and tomatoes were too but it's harder to see in the pictures. You can also see the core. I had already eaten my chicken, which was ok. Come on Dennys...up your game. I know you're not an elevated dining experience but we do expect our food to be edible and service to be responsive. You're lucky you have Veronica at the Rosedale Promenade to at least rate an extra star. read more

The food is so good. The ambience is vivid, welcoming, and home-like. It was very warm inside on this chilly night. Our server Sabrina was such a sweetheart and got us everything we needed (syrup, ranch, and refills). It was formal night so it became very busy. My family had always loved Denny's! It's just something about chocolate chip pancakes that makes the kids swoon! When we go I usually get the Build your own Grand Slam but the last time I was craving a burger. After some coaxing from my husband (he swore he's heard great things about the new burgers at Denny's) I gave in and ordered a build your own diner burger. Holy S@$t!!! This burger was A1! Everything from the real burger patty, to the caramelized onions were perfection! The special sauce and bourbon sauce are also delicious! I ate myself into a food coma! I can't wait to go back and have it again. My kids also devoured their burgers and for $6 for the burger and fries I was one happy mama! read more

I am so thoroughly disappointed with this location. First of all, I ordered a breakfast skillet and the portion size was much smaller than at any other Denny's. I tend to order the same thing every time, so I have a good frame of reference. The skillet was also cold. My biggest beef though is with using one of their coupons. I had a coupon for 20% off that says to use "show phone to merchant at register." I did that and they would not accept the coupon. The lady said it needed to be printed. That's not what the directions say. And the only reason I went there that day was because of the coupon. Not cool. I called the manager and left a message, and never heard back. read more

Honestly if I could give 0 stars I would. Last night and some friends went to Dennys to get some late night Dinner. I got a hot chocolate as my drink. The first hot chocolate was good. It was a bit funky but didn't think much of it. My second cup was deadly tho. I drank some and immediately noticed the taste of bleach. When I told the waitress there was bleach in my hot chocolate she said "I'm sorry. I don't know how that happened." There was bleach in my drink. Thats deadly. I got very sick. Great smiles on everyone's face as my wife and I walked in and they greeted us with a good morning. The wait was about no more then a minute and we were seated. I normally don't care for pancakes but the picture on the menu of the blueberry, strawberry and banana pancakes looked delicious so I decided to try it. I am glad I did so delicious and now I'm definitely a fan of pancakes. The food was good and the waitress was great and she kept making sure we were good. Slow service. Only 6 tables in use and 20 minute wait for pancakes. Server never offered to fill water or coffee. Additionally, she did not check on our table until she dropped off the bill.
