Her Iced Mocha was very nicely done. I found my Avocado Toast a bit on the salty side, and wasn't impressed with the egg that sat upon it. Runny yolk is what I like to see, but the yolk in this egg was very dry. They have a nice selection of cakes in their display case. great recommendation from a friend. the three of us stopped in for brunch after a moderate hike…read morenearby, which felt like a well deserved reward after working up an appetite. we arrived around 12:30 pm on a monday and were pleasantly surprised that there was no wait. we were seated right away and had plenty of time to settle in, catch up, and enjoy the slower pace of the afternoon. i was told this place used to be a tiny little shop, and it's nice to see how much they've grown. they've taken over the space next door and expanded the seating area, which makes a huge difference. you can actually relax, enjoy your meal, and have a proper conversation without feeling like you need to rush out the door so the next group can sit down. that extra breathing room really changes the experience. i was also happy to see they offer a matcha lavender latte with oat milk, which immediately caught my attention. unfortunately, we arrived too late for their early bird special, and i'm still a little disappointed about missing it. twelve dollars for a bacon, egg, and cheese sandwich with a hashbrown patty and coffee or tea is hard to beat, and honestly, it gives me a good reason to wake up earlier next time. i decided on the vegetarian benny, and it absolutely hit the spot. two perfectly soft poached eggs, fresh avocado, oven roasted tomatoes, chimichurri, arugula, hollandaise, and cornbread, with three hashbrown patties on the side. every component worked together beautifully. the dish was seasoned really well, full of fresh flavours, and beautifully presented. the bright colours from the avocado, tomatoes, and greens made it look as good as it tasted. the chimichurri added a wonderful freshness, the hollandaise was rich without being overwhelming, and the cornbread brought a subtle sweetness that balanced everything nicely. it was so good that i practically inhaled the entire plate. definitely a place i'd come back to. next time, though, i'm setting an alarm and making sure i arrive early enough to finally try that early bird special.

When I read that the gravy for their Classic Poutine was vegetarian, I knew that I *had* to come here and try it. So...finally tried it. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't superb either. Not really sure how they managed to score 1st place for a Poutine Challenge in 2014. Granted, it was a Butter Chicken poutine that took home the prize and not the Classic Poutine, but still... The cheese curds did have some ooey gooeyness going for them which is always good to see. I'd have liked to have seen a lot more of both the cheese curds and the gravy though on my poutine. I think my daughter's plate of poutine had a bit more gravy than mine. Overall though, I feel that there could have been more of both the cheese curds and the gravy. Flavor was pretty good. Not something I need to come back and have again though.

Lots of seating. It seemed like I came at an off time, and it was nice and quiet. Veggie burger: The falafel patty was a little crumbly but very tasty. I got the salad for my side, and was glad to see that it was a pretty substantial pile of salad since it costs $3 to upgrade from fries. Everything in the salad was fresh. I liked the cranberries and crushed walnuts. The vinaigrette was more oily than I would've liked. Vanilla blender (with espresso): Okay. Nice taste and not too sweet. As an iced latte I would've had no complaints, but as a blended drink, I thought it could've used more ice... but maybe I just waited too long to drink it. Looking at the baked goods display, I saw they have the same sandwiches/wraps and baked goods that you see at quite a few cafes in Vancouver that don't do their own food prep... I've tried most of the baked goods at various other places and would say they're so-so. I do like the deep dutch brownie but everything else is just too sweet and that's the only thing you can taste. I would definitely recommend ordering off the menu for something put together in house rather than getting something out of the case.

I was made to feel so welcome from the first time I walked in, and since then the baristas have cared enough to remember me, learn my name, ask how I'm doing/what I'm up to and follow up on it the next time I'm back, which is sometimes a month or more later. I've really never been to a coffee shop where the baristas show such genuine interest in customers. I'm not naturally very outgoing so I usually don't really get to know staff at cafes that I frequent, but it's not like I feel like these people are forcing me to converse with them, they're just really nice and it is infectious! As wonderful as the people are, I wouldn't be coming back over and over again if the food wasn't equally as wonderful, but it absolutely is. Their baked goods are homemade and it's very evident in the quality - everything tastes so wholesome! The sandwiches and wraps are great - the Big Veg sandwich, my favourite, is a killer vegan option. And they make good drinks too. The espresso drinks are pretty standard but brewed strong (but not TOO strong), and I think all the tea drinks (including the tea lattes and just straight-up tea) are excellent. They offer a lot of variety in the menu. It's not a vegan cafe (there are plenty of meat options) but there are some very good options for vegans: an assortment of vegan baked goods and two vegan sandwiches. They whip up new things from time to time. It's pretty small inside but they have a lot of patio space for when the weather's decent. They have blankets you can use to keep warm. I love the vibe, it's colourful and cozy inside and the patio has a rustic garden feel. This is the place to visit if you need to lift your spirits.

Typically comes with 3 pumps of sweetener but I asked for 2 since I like my drinks less sweet. I also got less ice since I didn't want it to be too cold! I loved the drink though, it was perfect! The coffee was strong enough and the flavor wasn't overpowering, and especially, wasn't too sweet, just how I like it! We also got a hot lavender latte which, surprisingly, wasn't too sweet as well! Perfect intensity of caffeine with flavor! HONORABLE MENTION: CHICKEN PESTO SANDWICH!!!! I never get food from cafes multiple reasons: too pricey, never know how long they have been there for, have there been flies in the refrigerator, etc. There is just so many unknowns with the quality of the food. But the kind lady at the register, when I asked about the sandwiches, she was so excited about it! Hahaha! I thought it was so amusing that she herself was so in love with these sandwiches, she gets them all the time is what she told me. I was feeling hungry and we had a long ride ahead of us so I got the chicken pesto sandwich! Individually wrapped in the refrigerator, only two of each kind, it looked sanitary and reasonable, and so was the price! It was toasted and cut in half for us. When we ate it, it was SO YUM! I usually each my sandwiches with hot sauce, which I forgot to inquire about, but it was so yummy I didn't even miss it! So awesome!!!! AMBIANCE: Small, cute, quaint!
