The first part of the park is tour standard neighborhood park. Very small at first glance i almost wanted to turn around and leave. There is a covered area, a jungle gym like structure, and Picnic areas for family bbqs. So glad they also had a public restroom as we needed to use It on the way out. If you venture deeper into the woods and follow the trails you will begin a maze like adventure full of winding trails. There are streams and bridges and views of the valleys. So nice. Multiple entrances/exits and paths to choose from. Very easy to get lost or turned around. Thankfully that have maps. We forsure got mixed up and had to rely on the maps. We had fun. What a beautiful creek! I walked the North Creek Trail earlier tonight for the first time, with a…read morecompanion. It was an interesting trail, and I felt a sense of wonder, awe, and adventure while traversing this trail. There is so much natural beauty to see here! I found myself wondering if walking on this trail may be defined as "urban hiking." I googled urban hiking, because I'm quite unsure of how it is supposed to be defined, and I am still wondering if this experience fits the definition! My companion and I pulled in to the address for this trail that is listed here on yelp, so we started walking on this trail next to the middle of the creek, at the part of the trail that has the creek on one side of it and parking lots and office buildings on the other side of it. We walked up the short entry trail from the parking lot, and we took a right and walked all the way past the larger bridge with the wooden beams overhead. Then we turned around and walked all the way back, and passed our initial starting point. I'm very glad we didn't just head back to the car when we had reached our starting point again, because in my opinion some of the most beautiful parts of the creek were located in this section of the trail. At one point the trail meanders through a thicket of blackberry bushes, which are thick on both sides of the trail. The trail is wide enough that we were able to stay in the center of it and not worry about getting poked by blackberry thorns walking through that section, and I saw tiny beginnings of blackberries on a few of the branches. (Blackberry season is a ways off still.) For the sections of this trail that we chose to walk on today, a large part of the trail was gravel, and another large part of the trail was paved. I definitely did not need to be wearing my hiking boots. There was little to no incline, and the trail was fairly wide at most points. There were quite a few roots crossing the trail though. There were 4 or 5 bikers during the hour or so that we were walking on this trail. The bikers that were coming up behind us yelled out "on your right" or rang their bell, so that was nice. There were about 4 or 5 other people who were also walking on this trail whom we passed as well. We saw two geese floating on the water, and we saw two tiny birds in the trees. We also heard the birds chirping for a bit as well. It was a lovely sound. We ended our exploration of this trail at the smaller bridge towards the end of the creek, and we finally reluctantly headed back towards the spot where we had parked the car, as it was about to get dark. I loved how the creek wound around several large green areas in the middle of the water, with abundant long grasses waving all over them. This was one of the last sights that I saw on this trail tonight, and it was magical! I would love to walk this trail again, but I am planning on exploring several new-to-me hiking trails and walking trails this year, so I'm not sure if I will be back to walk this trail again anytime soon. But I am very happy that I chose this trail to walk on tonight!

This trail also has several spots with picnic tables and I even saw one bbq. The trail is shared with dog walkers too. I am not sure if the trail loops as I walked about a mile and half than turned around to head back towards my car. If you're visiting the town center this trail is a nice refuge that brings you into a lovely natured area. No restrooms on the trail. So, be aware. Happy adventures and happy Yelping.

A beautiful spot if you're looking for a place to sit and look out at the water. But only two,…read moreshort, small docks are available for that purpose. Many people walking dogs. Very few were wearing masks, if you're being Covid-cautious and would like to know this sort of thing. There is a bit of a field where you can enjoy a picnic, but runs along a busy road, with little break in car traffic & noise. The paved path along the outside of the field goes into a neighborhood of houses, and doesn't seem to loop around thr lake itself.

I will visit them next time. I like their sunflowers. The view of the Lake is very nice and quiet. But if you keep walking, you'll start hearing cars on 156th. You can easily go a bit further to another neighbor park which is pretty lovely or walk your way back to the 148th where there is a small lake. These two are like a breath in the middle of the city.

Mount Si is an 8 mile hike roundtrip in North Bend about 45 minutes east of Seattle. It is the big…read moresibling to the smaller Little Si trail which is closeby. I missed the entrance the first time I drove by it and turned around to get to the parking lot. I arrived at 7:45am on a Friday morning and there was a good amount of parking available. It's a bigger parking lot than I expected but the potholes in the lot were a pain to drive through. The first part of the hike was mostly incline and I was dripping sweat pretty much right away. It continued like that other than the occasional flat land for like 30 seconds before it was back to incline again. There were more switchbacks near the top and was rocky to get to the very top. It was mostly cloudy on the way up and the tall trees helped shade away some of the sun as it peaked out. At the summit there were beautiful clear views of Mt. Rainier above the clouds which was just amazing to see. The contrast of the clouds and the clear skies above them were breathtaking. I fought the urge to stop and take a break multiple times on the way up and got to the top in just under 2 hours. Going down was hard on the knees with the steep decline and I got down in about 1.5 hours. It was a tough and challenging hike but I'm happy I overcame it. I recommend bringing lots of water because it can be pretty tough with all the incline. Also, there weren't too many bugs at the top but if you're bothered by them I suggest bringing some bug spray.

Wow! Hard to believe it's almost been a year since I moved to the PNW, this was one of my first…read morehikes, and after the craziness of moving, charging jobs, and a few weeks without hiking, this one kicked my ass! What a year of hiking in the Cascades, and a physically and mentally challenging job can help, this time was much more enjoyable, plus knowing the terrain and area helps. It's still a kick ass hike, but much more enjoyable. The views from the peak are amazing!! Even on a cloudy getting ready to rain day, you can see Seattle, on. Clearer days Mt Rainier is viewable. Lots of fun wildlife and plant life still gearing towards fall, seeing a few trees colored up. This is a popular hike, so expect to see people, luckily parking lots is large, although full of potholes. Thank God for a 4 wheel drive, so No worries. This hike, especially as you get towards the peak, has many cross cross or zig zags on the trail, which helps, because it's steep, especially the last half mile. I didn't wear the proper shoes to rock climb, so doing the final ascent to the top of the peak will wait till next time. It still amazes me how green the foliage gets after it starts raining.. like instantly turning a more vibrant green, if that's possible? Plenty of views with out going to the top peak. And as always, since it's all uphill going to the summit, it's all downhill coming down. I would also recommend hiking poles, the help on the steep inclines and were helpful going down as the rain made some of the surfaces slick. Definitely love the sound of the rain in some of the silent moments, which brings me to one of the downsides of hiking near the I-90 corridor, still hear quite a bit of traffic noise even 6 miles away, part of the echo through the pass, but still some quiet moments. This is a challenging and fun hike, enjoy the moments, I've met lots of people who were determined to make it to the top.. and did!! Goals!! Happy hiking! SYOY , God Bless and Cheers!

To kick off the New Year, I decided to be active and hike one of my favorite nearby Seattle trails…read more This one has it all: not too easy nor hard (580 foot elevation gain, ~2.5 miles round trip), riverfront views, a humongous 700 year old Douglass Fir, two massive boulders you can climb up, many natural swimming pools, and three viewpoints of a gorgeous cascade. Twin Falls appears to be a single fall but you have to go up to the third upper viewpoint with a bench to see the twin. You can go further and it continues into Ollalie State Park and joins Iron Horse Trail. Go early because it's a popular hike with a medium sized parking lot at the trailhead. Just be sure to remember you WA state Discovery Pass to display on your car. The trail is near Snoqualmie Pass but doesn't have all the snow other nearby trails get causing them to close seasonally.
