This is one of 2 rock climbing gyms on the Eastside. We have not been to the other one so not sure how it compares. This gym is pretty large with belaying areas and kids areas as well. It also has a workout area and an area to practice different grips. Once a week, they change the paths which keeps it always fresh, interesting and challenging. It always seems clean. The staff is just friendly enough. It would be nice if they cleaned the chalk off the rocks more often though rather than just hanging out at the counter/desk area. It would also be nice if there were some lockers in addition to the cubbies. They have added cubbies and a walkway to one side of the gym which makes it nice for spectator since it provides a place to sit. They have a ton of adult and youth programs throughout the year in addition to camps during the breaks. They do fill up quickly though so you have to be on top of it!

Nice climbing gym. Two bouldering areas and one area for rope climbing. They also have a great dedicated kids area. Bathrooms have lockers, and they have a yoga room where classsa are held. Wish there was one of these in south Seattle.

This is a huge facility with super high ceilings. There is plenty of parking in the plaza which is nice. When you walk in you fill out a form and watch a three minute video on the guidelines. No one really greeted me when I walked in and walked me through the process. I kind of just followed my friends who had just gotten there a bit earlier than me. Getting through the process of filling the waiver and paying was not the smoothest. It costs $22 for an adult day pass and $6.75 for shoe rental. In total I paid about $31 and if you want you can also rent the belay device ($3.25), harness ($4.50), and chalk ($4.25). There are two bouldering areas with one area for rope climbing in the middle. I thought there was a different variety of routes that focused on different types of techniques, from using your feet to using your balance to move up and around. The routes themselves were not color coded (that kind of threw me off a little) but each route has a number attached to it. They start off with v0 which is the easiest and it goes up from there. I stayed around v0 to v2 which I think is a good range for beginners. There's a self-serve shelf of shoes (try saying that five times fast) where you can pick your size. They recommend you pick one size above your normal size which actually made a huge difference. The shoes didn't have as much grip as I'd like so standing on the smaller pegs was difficult and I slipped a decent amount. One of my more experienced climber friends said the same thing. There are cubbies in the front to put your stuff. However if you want to be more secure there are lockers in the back near the restrooms but you will need to bring your own lock. This probably wouldn't be my preferred place to climb but it was nice to try this place out to see what other climbing gyms have to offer.

Holy crap - this was such a tough workout...but had a blast! As soon as we walked in we saw the front desk where after telling the employee it was our first time here, she directed us to register at the computer on the other side of the desk and afterwards, watch a short training video on the iPad. It didn't take long to register where you fill out the waiver and watch the video. Once we were finished the employee then helped us get a day pass with shoe rental (about $30 per person with tax) and told us to get a pair of climbing shoes that was one to two sizes larger than our normal size. (I wear a size 8 and found that the size 9 shoes were a good fit for me.) Once we were ready to go one of the employees gave us a short orientation, telling us about the different colored rocks for bouldering and the right way to fall, to avoid injury. In order to belay, which are the high walls with the ropes, you have to take a course for that, so I only did bouldering here. And the bouldering is much tougher than it looks! The walls aren't too high yet it's still a workout, forcing you to use not only your upper body strength to find rocks to grab on to and pull yourself up, but also your lower body where you're trying to find rocks to step and climb up on. It's really a full body workout! All of the different colored rocks are set by different levels, starting from V0, going up to V1, V2, etc... I'm not sure what the most challenging boulder pattern was, but saw a V11 at one of the walls which went sideways! This was my first time bouldering, so mostly stuck to V0 and would say that it's definitely an appropriate level to start with. I did try some V1 and V2 levels, and noticed the difference in levels tremendously. Some of the V1 levels were super hard for me, especially when the walls weren't a flat surface. You'll easily break out in a sweat! There are two bouldering sections here and in the middle is the high walls for belaying. In the back is the children's section for bouldering, restrooms, water fountains and even a weight room. For your personal items, there are lockers in the bathroom but there are also cubbies by the reception desk where most people were storing their items. We came on a Wednesday night and the place was busy! It was actually cool to see so many members of Stone Gardens here, but it never felt cramped. I loved bouldering for the first time here despite the falls on some of my climbs (don't worry, it's a safe and cushy floor)! It was so fun though to see how high/far I could go and to challenge myself to go further! I would definitely go again and recommend this place for anyone who is at all interested in climbing. The friendly staff help navigate you if it's your first time and everyone's here, to have fun and get a great workout. See ya there!

Ask the Community - Edgeworks Climbing - Bellevue

Is it member only?

You can pay for a day pass and also rental gear if you need it. Because of current regulations, you will need to show proof of vaccination, as well as masking up.

Do i have to take a belay lesson to take the test? i'm belay certified in other gyms so i don't want to go through the lesson again.

No you don't need to. You just walk in and ask for the test

It is nice not having to drag around crash pads as the floor in the bouldering areas serves as a crash pad.

For a gym environment, proper air circulation is essential, yet the air feels stagnant and there is a persistent, strong odor. It is very difficult to work out in these conditions. I'm literally drenched in sweat the moment I walk in, and the lack of fresh air makes me feel lightheaded and dizzy during my sets. Is there a working AC system? Are there plans to improve cooling for the summer? I need to know this before I decide whether to renew my membership or not. The last three months have been unbearable, and I believe this might even be a safety/health code issue. Second, the equipment. Many of the machines in the main area, specifically the hip abduction/adduction (inner/outer thigh) and leg curl machines, are broken. While the renovated zone is great, these essential machines have been out of order for a while. Are there plans to repair or replace them soon? I would appreciate a clear response so I can understand if I should continue coming here this summer or if I need to look for another gym where the conditions are safer and the equipment is functional.

We have worked with other trainers in the past, but none compare to the level of expertise and care Drake provides. Our class consists of five people (the maximum size), and he customizes each workout to accommodate individual body types and prior injuries. Drake is extremely knowledgeable about the body and its mechanics--muscles, fascia, ligaments, and more. To us, he is not just a trainer; he could easily pass for a physical therapist. His deep understanding of different body issues has helped us stay strong and avoid injuries, which is especially important as we remain active into our seventies. As an added bonus, Drake is warm, personable, and genuinely invested in keeping his clients healthy, strong, and injury-free. We highly recommend Drake as a trainer and hope to continue training with him at Good Time Fitness for many years to come. Good Time Fitness has a great atmosphere, an excellent range of equipment, and a very clean, well-maintained facility. It isn't like typical gyms, it feels more like a gym-resort-wellness center. It has high ceiling and ventilation is great. It can get smelly if it's super busy but that's why I go in the morning. I also like how everyone just focuses on themselves and no one is judging or being "weird." It's like everyone working out on their own pace and no judgement. I also had no experiences of going to the gym. It feels daunting initially because there's so many machines and it's overwhelming, which is why I particularly wanted to get a personal trainer and I love mine. Ainura is wonderful, she remembers the body goals im after and she helps me with a workout plan that will help me. You can see photos of my 3 month progress as proof. I've also had to visit out of state gyms due to work and I can safely say... pro club still the best. Love the staffs, environment, aura, and my trainer. LASTLY, I know it's on the higher end compared to other gyms but the amenities make it up. For example, free classes of Pilates, yoga, Zumba, etc. Going to miss Pro club for the next 2 weeks since I'm traveling :(

The Ultimate Premium Paradise (If You Hold a Paddle)…read more Let me start by saying: don't let this visual rating confuse you. It's perfect. It's magnificent. It's bespoke luxury. But only for us. The minute I picked up a paddle, I realized I was royalty and that Bay Club understands true elite status. My every minor whim is their command. I casually mention the "squeaky old basketball courts" are a bit archaic and inefficient for our gentlemanly strategy? Poof!--they literally roll a glorious slab of semi-permanent, cushioned vinyl right over that outdated, varnished hardwood. It's absolutely chef's kiss. They paved over the past, and I got more nets! The acoustic-deadening luxury is unparalleled. Who needs to see wood grain when you can have industrial-grade linoleum that silences the ghosts of whatever irrelevant sport used to be played here? This is what peak performance looks like: endless courts, endless tournaments, endless "Zero-Zero-Two!" shouts echoing through the hall. We don't need to sweat like animals; we dominate from a neat 10-foot box with true finesse. And to those disgruntled, archaic hoop-heads lingering in the corners? Please, evaporate. Your sport is a relic, a shambling corpse, and the NBA is literally a joke propped up by shoe commercials and social media drama. The refs couldn't spot a travel if a player packed a suitcase, booked a direct flight out of Sea-Tac, and walked through TSA with the ball tucked under their arm. Did they take three steps? Four? A gather-step? Just carry the ball like a running back, nobody cares anymore! There are no rules, just chaos and unnecessary, vulgar sweating. Seriously, the puddles of "hard work" they leave are a public health hazard. Disgusting. The old days are gone, Grandpa. I hear other people complaining about cleaning staffs being cut? Or the weight room looking like a monochrome hospital ward? As if that matters. I'm too focused on my next dink to notice dust, and who lifts weights when you can master gentlemanly strategy? Thank you, Bay Club, for finally prioritizing true culture and paving the way to the future. Keep the vinyl coming! See you all in the kitchen! Fine print: (This rating is purely for maximum visibility, as nobody reads 5-star reviews. Attracting your eyeballs was paramount.)

I took the intro class that was specially priced at $19. For an hour and a half, it was an incredible deal that I could not pass up...and it was more than worth it! There were about 18+ people in the class and we started with a warm up on the silks. Afterwards, we watched Mason and 2 other instructors demo on the rope, silks, and lyra respectively. We then learned a few things on the silks and did a quick stretch of the upper body. The verdict? The warmup is NOT a beginner warmup. There's lots of balancing of the upper body on the arms or forearms while the legs are held up by the silk apparatus. As the body is balancing, it is moving forwards, backwards, and twisting side to side. For me, the warmup was great and challenging, but I could see it being difficult for a beginner. Vivian was the instructor on the silks. I found her explanations and demonstrations thorough as I had previously learned one of the tricks at another studio but had not understood it fully until Vivian explained it another way. We were learning how to climb the silks and even though there was heavy emphasis on the use of the legs, I didn't hear any guidance about relieving any tightness in the forearms or the hands during the instruction. And in the cool down/stretching, there was no focus on these parts of the body at all. For the cool down, we paired up and all we did was twist the upper body while pulling on each others arms. Time was up but I wished that there would have been more time for more thorough stretching. Now I realize that there were a lot of people in the class and it was an intro class so I am probably calling out personal particulars, but I was really impressed with the overall vibe of the studio. I like their whole hybrid exercise modality idea. The instruction was awesome. The studio is a great space and I am especially looking forward to taking future classes in trapeze and lyra. Lastly, I find the pricing options a great value.
