This is a great trail, with a small waterfall at the end of the trail. The trail is approximately 2.5 miles each direction, so be prepared for a 5 mile hike round-trip. Is great for kids, they can play in the waterfall, before the return hike; be advised some parts of the waterfall are deep. The is mostly shaded, there is a slight bit of climbing on the trail, approximately 300 feet of climbing each direction, but there's lotta downhill on the trail too. This is a great place to spend the day.

My favorite hike from this trip to Washington. What a secluded & splendid place. We went on a Thursday around noon & had no issues with parking. We only passed about 6 people on our way to/from the falls. Lovely lovely hike!

Hard to find on google or Apple Maps, so use all trails. Love this hike, great trail, a little muddy but we don't mind. Dog friendly

Amazing hike, beautiful scenery. I needed a seat at the falls as all the rocks were taken. Very busy day, sunny and glorious day by the falls. Kids playing in the water Earth consciousness carry out your trash. Couple of stream crossing's but worth every moment out there. Beautiful beautiful beautiful

    Serene view of the falls!

A great trail in the Duvall area, arrived around 10am on a Sunday, the road side parking was already pretty full which is one of the downsides, but you also don't have to pay a state park fee or anything. Round trip was at least closer to 6 miles, and I would say this is more of a moderate hike, as some of it becomes like an obstacle course (especially as you get closer to the falls!).. at one point I was crossing a tree log over water which I was not expecting to be doing so I don't recommend this with toddlers. Arrival at the falls was quite the treat, there was a good flow of water but also it was serene. There weren't too many hikers sitting around there so it was a nice place to relax. On the trail itself there was a steady mix of hikers throughout the round trip. I clocked about 2.5 hours altogether with some time observing the falls. It was certainly muddy and thankfully I had a dry day but can imagine it getting pretty muddy in parts. Nice hike overall but would probably go back during the week when less busy.

This hike was pretty easy. Parking isn't the greatest so just a heads up. The waterfalls at the end of the trails is nice.

Oh My God, it took us two hikes to get to the falls hahaha. We had no problem parking. We did the usual of parking right at the trail entrance. No that many cars. Trail is very is wide with gravel the first mile. It goes beside de river. At times, you can only hear it but you will get to the falls if you go all lefts :D They are not that far. I think it's about 3 miles or less. You will pass a car in the middle of the forest. Sometimes the trail will be very narrow. An in summer it can get bushy. Keep going you are on the right path. It has hills both ways but it is easy. Bring your pup because it´s going to love it! Water is so nice and clear but I don´t think you can dive in it from the top. Great for pics spending time in nature :) True gem that is worth the visit. Drive safely around.

Found this trail on the AllTrails website. It was marked as "easy" but it should definitely be marked as "moderate" considering the length and time. The trail was incredibly muddy. I was fortunate to have waterproof boots on but my fiancé had to suffer with wet socks in his sneakers for most of the journey. We didn't see any signs besides "private property" at a couple spots and had to ask other hikers how far we were from the falls. Once we got to the falls, it was a nice view with various other groups standing around. You have to park on the street - it was very busy when we went on a Sunday morning around 9am. Make sure to bring plenty of water and snacks since this is a longer hike.

Came here on Wednesday morning around 7:30AM, parked on the side of the road. The trail was pretty flat, all in the shade, lots of trees. Can hear road noise for a bit but not for too long. The creek can be heard on the trail although it's hidden from view. No signs anywhere aside from one sign less than a mile in pointing to the falls. Took a wrong turn on the way back. A bit muddy in spots and had to do a river crossing but all manageable. Waterfall had a lot of water, wasn't very big. Saw one person there with a dog, otherwise didn't see another person the entire time.

We did this hike today and absolutely loved it. We took our two dogs (a golden and a husky) and my son who is 13 years old and hiked all the way to the falls. For the most part it's an easy hike, but there were a few ups and downs that were a little slippery but that's to be expected on a hike. Once we got to the falls it was time to get the dogs cooled down and we went in as well. The water is freezing, but also refreshing after hiking on a hot day. The water is anywhere from ankle deep to swimming depth, and you can see to the bottom to tell where you are walking. The dogs loved the water and swam around while we were throwing rocks for them. If you're looking for a beginners hike or a hike you can take children on I recommend this one. We will be coming back for sure!

Gorgeous trail just 30 minutes from Bellevue. It leads to a beautiful waterfall at the end, but can be a bit tricky to find. There were a few turns that we weren't sure which way to go, but luckily we were able to navigate. It was a very easy trail, not too hilly or long. We saw quite a few bikers as well but it didn't look like a nice terrain for it. There was quite a bit of mud. Parking was free, but filled up pretty quickly. It was empty when we arrived at 9am, but packed when we left at 11am.

Such a peaceful trail with a pair of pretty waterfalls at the end! We had a lovely time taking in all the scenery. This hike is not well-known so it was far from being crowded. The round-trip length is 5.0 miles with an easy 450 feet elevation gain. No special parking pass needed, though there is limited parking spots. Best to hike before autumn season as the left waterfall supposedly dries up by then.

It's the last few days of summer and I wanted to hike to a spot I've never been, that was relatively short and easy. Cherry Creek Falls fit the bill. I had to search a few websites to make sure I knew what we were getting in to. The best one is: http://tmber.com/routes/wa/cherry-creek-falls This site has thorough directions and a great video of the trail, I highly recommend watching it before hitting the trail since there were tons of little trails that branched off the main trail. Also, take note of directions posted on this site. One thing to note is that a Discovery Pass is not required, but parking is along a rural road with private homes, so be respectful and mindful of no trespassing signs. The trail starts out by a gated road just south of the NE Cherry Valley Rd and Mountain View Road intersection. It's a 5 mile out and back trail, if you just go to the falls and back. As mentioned before, there are several trails that branch off the main so take note of the directions on the website. Several creeks and some elevations make this a great trail for just about anybody. And it's not a busy trail at all. We saw a few families with small children, as well as dogs, and some mountain bikers. There were some spots of horse droppings, so watch out for those, too. Now about the falls, when we got there we were the ONLY ones there and it is beautiful. There was a firepit area near the top of the falls. And a pretty steep trail to get down to the bottom of the falls. Some cut down logs were positioned near the pool to you can get a better view without submersing yourself in water. We didn't hit the water, but it was pretty clear and did not appear too deep. The falls, themselves, have about a 25-30 foot drop. Cherry Creek Falls is a hidden gem that's positioned about a 45-60 minute drive from Seattle. And my biggest bit of advice for those wanting to check this place out is to check the websites, and have directions with you as you hit the trail, did I not emphasize that enough?!

    Pretty, but still scary!

This was a tough hike, even though I chose it since the book said "moderate" and even looking up some reviews people had said the hike as relatively simple to enjoy a fantastic lake view. We were both pretty dead at the end due to the length and steep inclines. Knees were pretty banged up because of all the rocks. The trail in the beginning wasn't so bad, definitely got my heart pumping because of the elevation, but as you go higher up there were a lot of switchbacks and seemingly no end in sight. We hustled up the mountain pretty quickly though, which was why we were so tired at the end. The view is definitely worth it in the end; recommend bringing a hammock! There's also plenty of sitting area through slabs of rocks. Coming down we encountered: 1) a girl who was crying we believe because of the toughness of the trail, 2) a couple who stopped us to ask how much longer it was to the top (they unfortunately weren't even halfway) which signifies how tough this hike was. Definitely recommend bringing more than enough water or you will definitely be dehydrated (like we were). Otherwise glad we did this and would recommend (you won't regret it but your body will hate you haha).

Be sure to pick up a Northwest Forest Pass before you head over as the closest visitor center is about a 15 min drive away at Exit 52. If you've scoped out the WTA site already, it'll say that the trailhead has a parking lot for approximately 30ish cars with additional room to park along the side of the road. As the trailhead is shared with the very popular Denny Creek, I'd recommend you head early to snag a spot and to carpool - my friends and I arrived around 9AM and the lot was completely packed. There appears to be two parts to this hike - the family-friendly portion to Denny Creek and then the rocky and long jaunt up to Melakwa Lake. We saw a lot of families on the trail headed to the creek, which makes the perfect picnic spot during low water. If you want to continue on toward Melakwa Lake, head straight over to the other side of the creek where you'll find a tiny sign labeled "Main Trail" posted on a tree. The crowd thinned out after Denny Creek/the water slide (as referred to on WTA) as the hike got a bit tougher and rockier. If you have hiking boots, wear them, as you'll encounter two, long stretches of rocky terrain. The 2,000 ft elevation gain is gradual, but definitely noticeably on the last leg. You'll head up for what feels like forever before the trail starts to dip down again, taking you to the edge of the lake. This hike feels long, so be sure to bring an ample amount of water and snacks to help power on to the end! Once you're at the lake, there's room for you to sit out on the rocks before your journey back down. We even saw a few people swimming in the water - must've been so cold! XD My friends weren't the biggest fans of this hike, mainly because of the length, but I still think it's worth a visit with the right prep. Also, don't forget to bring bug spray! Apparently Melakwa is Chinook for mosquito, haha. :)

Our first time at this hike was 6 years ago, and we've done it a handful of times since then. I do want to say every time we have come there, there are hardly any people on the trail. Most people will scramble down by the waterfall. It's fun. You do see people turn around at the tree/bench because it's a steep climb down. But you are able to still see the waterfall.
