I recently took my '57 mint Schwinn Wasp in to have it put back together after shipping it from the east coast. I had them add a back rack from a '58 Phantom that I'd procured while they were at it. It was promised by Friday and actually finished 4 days ahead of schedule. But the youngster who worked on the bike scarred the back fender, so the bike isn't mint any more, with a 1 by .5" scrape. He was very apologetic about it but geesh. The store gave me a $75 discount off the work and offered to take it to their paint shop, but I think I'll do the work. The bike is back in fine running order, but I don't think I'll be going back. There was a little girl and her dad buying a brand new Trek and although they remembered the water bottle, the salesperson did not recommend a lock. WTH? read more

I was graciously gifted a "new-to-me" bicycle that needed a few modifications, like new pedals. I took it over to Redmond Cycle, and was immediately greeted and helped in the service department. The clerk helped me find new pedals and a water bottle clip that would work better, and agreed to look the bike over for any needed repairs. I'm a bit clueless about bikes, so I was very pleased when I got a call a week later, as expected, with the word that the services I requested were done on time, and nothing else was needed. The charges were all reasonable and nothing extra was pushed at me. The store is nice, and has what looks like a good selection of bikes. There's an assortment of helmets, so I found a color I like and got one of those. The staff were all helpful and friendly. I'll definitely go back when service is needed! Did a great job on my bike, fixes all reasonable, didn't sell anything I didn't need. People were all friendly, work done in expected timeframe. Nice selection of bikes. read more

This bike shop rocks. I now live in Portland and had an issue with an Orbea I purchased from Redmond Cycle back in 2005. I first tried the local Orbea shop for a warranty issue. Not so helpful, and they moaned about the need for an original receipt and how hard that would be to locate. So I called Redmond Cycle where I got the bike so long ago. Literally within about 1 minute I had a copy of my receipt in my inbox. I love my Orbea and will likely get another one, but the service at Redmond Cycle is the best of the best!! If I get a new one I will be driving 3 1/2 hours North to get it from them again. read more

1 1/2 weeks for front brake pads and a new chain! WTF? Alright.. fine. No big rush. Whatevs. Called on Tuesday (1 1/2 weeks later)- still not done. Hadn't even touched it. Quite flip too, I might add. Fast forward to today, and the woman working says,"Oh, we had it done on Saturday.' 'Really? I broke my headlight on my bike yesterday. :( I've had it for about 12 years now, so I guess that's good. Anyway, I've always wanted to stop by Redmond Cycle to look around. They are in this weird little strip mall on the corner where the parallel one way streets in Redmond meet. This place has everything I want. They had about 10 different lights in all price ranges. I'm no pro, so I asked the shopkeeper which was the best. He actually suggested a middle of the road LED model with a 30 hour battery life and a little tiny cute one. I went with the non-cute one. I liked how they had them all set up so you could try each one to see how they work. My new light is very bright. I looked right in it and then saw stars for a few minutes. While I was there, I went ahead and looked around and drooled a bit. The guy working there was very friendly. He totally let me browse and we talked about a tune up. He was very honest about whether or not it would be worthwhile in my case, since my bike is kind of the bottom of the line. I liked the overall selection too. About twice the size of REI, which has a pretty good selection. Prices were not too bad either. I liked it a lot better than Greg's in Bellevue and Performance in Redmond. I would go back because I feel they'd take care of me and be honest and also for the cycling pr0n. read more

I really want to like these guys, I really do. They seem like a small shop owned locally, maybe even a family business? Not a big chain, and everyone in there was always very nice to me when I went in. However, they don't really know anything about bikes. At least not the guys I keep talking to. I've gone in many times over the last year looking for my first road bike, as I have other stores in the area. While these guys are nice and polite, they always have their facts wrong. One guy is particularly bad, quoting features on bikes that don't exist, or saying options aren't available when they are. For example, confusing SRAM with Sora, or claiming a bike comes only in a triple when it was also available in a compact. I could go on, but my point is: I want the guys at the LBS to know a heck of a lot more than I do about bikes. If I have to keep correcting them, they're certainly not helping me make a decision to pick the right bike. And I would doubt I could go to them with all the questions I have about biking that other shops seem to be so much more knowledgeable about. FWIW I ended up buying a bike from Gregg's. read more

I'd rate them so/so. I went in once looking for two items, a new saddle for my comfort bike and new handlebars (touring bars) for my road bike. The "kid" helping me did not even know what touring bars were, neither did the lady he asked (owner??). He could not find them in their order books. They are fairly common, but nobody knew what they were. They were nice to try to look it up to order, but I think they need to know more about bikes to run the business. As for the saddle they did not have much of a selection, and nothing like I was looking for. Lastly, I asked about getting a tune-up, and was told it would be about 2-3 weeks before it could be done. Really awful service. I had given my bike to be fixed here on a Friday afternoon. And we'll it was a ten minute job. I broke my 'no gears' chain and needed to replace that. Guess this was a big mistake. First I was told that it was a quick job and should take 15-20 minutes. They said that they would call me on the following Monday. Long story short after 3 follow ups and as many false promises they got the job done on Wednesday and only when I actually showed up at the store and reminded them. Guess we are back in the dark ages where you have to sit on someone's head to get work done. Very very unprofessional. Please think twice before dropping your bike here. Want to feel like you're invisible? You've found the place at Redmond Cycle. You're nothing but an annoyance at their store which is focused on chatting up regulars, not helping the inadvertent "customer". Zero service in an empty store with 4 employees working. Then when I tried to pay couldn't bear to interrupt a chat with a customer that went on for 5+ minutes. Other employees noticed but ignored me. Bad move for a small business in a recession - you just lost a customer for life I promise you. read more

Friendly and convenient, I checked out this business to possibly rent bikes from while enjoying some down time in Redmond. They have a variety of hybrids available which should do the job of exploring the local sites. Reasonable pricing with the fact that they are an 'indie' and so a much better choice than a chain store, I'd suggest this shop for your rental needs. They had a nice assortment of accessories and parts stocked for those of you in need of repairing or upgrading your current ride. read more

I've brought my commuter bike in for several minor and major repairs over the past few years, and always had the best experiences at Redmond Cycle. They'd often get me the parts I'd needed swapped in on the spot so I could hit the trail, be it tubes or wheels or bearing casings or lights or just random missing bolts. I usually like to try and do this stuff myself, but they're so quick and efficient it's hard to justify not spending the nominal labor charge for them to just take care of it. Much friendlier service and less fuss than the times I took it to REI or Performance Bicycle, plus it's been even more conveniently (re)located right off the Sammamish River Trail. read more

I'm a Microsoft intern, and was looking for a bike to commute to work each day as well as use in my off time for nice bike rides and exercise for the duration of the summer. Everyone in the store was very helpful, and extremely knowledgeable. They are very interested in making you as happy as possible, rather than getting the most money from you, which was not the same at other bike shops I had visited. Their prices were very competitive as well. They let you test ride as many bikes as you want to, adjusting each one to fit your size before you give it a spin. It took me two days to decide, and each day was after work, so it was close to their closing time. Both days, they stayed after hours to help me out, it was great. TLDR: Helpful, caring, and competitive, Redmond Cycle stood out among other bike shops in the area. Highly recommended. read more

I have not bought a bike from Redmond cycle, but have purchased parts and obtained service. A couple weeks ago I rode in to ask for some help adjusting my bike as I was feeling some discomfort in various joints. I give them props for making some small adjustments and suggestions, but take a star off for refusing to put me on the trainer even though I offered to pay for it. I did end up buying handlebar ends to give me more riding variety and the suggestion on my cleat positions did help. While I was waiting for the handlebar end installation I wandered around checking out the new bikes. They have a good variety and might be the place I got for when I'm ready to buy a high quality road bike. read more

This is my first review and I am really quite sad that this review is a negative one. I am overweight and have been contemplating buying a bike for some time and always intended on going to Redmond Cycle because they are a locally owned business. So I did my research and have narrowed it down to 3 different bikes, with that information in hand I stopped in so I could see the bikes in person and ask some additional questions I couldn't find answers for online. Just after 3:00 today I pulled in and noticed there were some people outside trying out bikes. I walk in and I am alone in the Store, except for the 2 guys who I can see are talking in the back office. I meander around for several minutes, stop to look at several bikes, passing in front of their line of vision several times. No acknowledgement. So I move towards the front of the store, thinking that if they thought I was leaving one of them would leave the office and at least greet me. I spend another couple of minutes checking out the bikes in the front right (west) side of the store. By now almost 10 minutes had passed and no one had even acknowledged that I was in the store. Then a gentleman in bike gear and a bike helmet walked in and went to the counter. Now one of them comes out from the office and greets him, still no acknowledgement for me. Now, I'm no longer irritated, I'm just MAD. I decided it was time to leave. As I am walking out, the second 'back office' guy finally appears and tries to greet me, to my back. (yes, I heard you.), "Hi how are you doing today?" I keep walking, "Ma'am?", still walking, "uh, OK"(with a bit of an attitude.) I am being really specific so the 2 guys will be able to recall exactly what the scenario was, and I offer this advise from someone who worked retail for 7 years. When someone enters your store and is browsing, at the minimum you should greet them within the first minute. Especially when you are in plain site of said potential Customer. Then, when said potential Customer is completely ignored for almost 10 minutes and you suddenly appear to greet a second Customer., don't be surprised if the first Customer feels a bit offended. So yes, I heard you trying to greet me as I was walking away, but what did you think? Did you think I was there shopping on YOUR time? No, I was shopping on MY time and you both demonstrated that according to your behavior, my time is not important. I side note: There was another guy working there today, but he was outside helping other customers during this time. read more

Best place to rent a bike in Redmond! Tons of parking and 30 seconds to the samamish river trail, which is excellent for a nice ride to Woodinville or even farther. Matt is super knowledgeable and friendly. Rates are very reasonable and the rental bikes are solid. read more

Bought my bike here 5 years ago at the old location. They recommended a Giant hybrid for under $350 and it has served me very well in 5 years. No problems at all until today it got a flat. I brought it in and literally in less than 5 minutes, they got me a new tube and fixed it all up. $19 including tax and I'm out the door ready to enjoy the sunny day. Staff is very nice and quick! Great place to get bicycle gear and get your questions answered. Knowledgable staff and very good selection.

I needed a new wheel and nobody locally had the right one for some reason (REI, Gerk's, Element) but went to Redmond cycle and they had one, so I was stoked about that, and then the shop guy Braden (sp?) swapped the tube, tire, and cassette over from my old wheel quickly and for free and trued the wheel. It would have taken me a lot longer to do that and I would have had to buy some tools, so that was a great help and got me back on the trails earlier than I expected. Friendly service too. I can't speak to the prices/bike selection really, I'll maybe have more to add on that in the future. read more

I had a great experience at Redmond Cycle today. Harris, the salesperson, was so helpful. I came in looking for a new bike after doing significant online research. Harris took time to answer my questions and compare various bikes for me. He then sent me on a test ride. Luckily their store is close to the Sammamish bike trail. When I came back to purchase it, I was delighted to find out that it was 25% off. Harris also came out to put my beautiful new bike in the back of my car. Again, great experience! read more

I used to take my bikes elsewhere to get fixed, but I went to Redmond Cycle when the other place didn't have the part. At Redmond Cycle they told me I didn't even need the new part, and they fixed it for less than just the labor at the other place. I've been there a few times since and they always do a good job. They trued a wheel while I waited for about 10 bucks. They fixed a front deraileur problem for a good price while I waited as well (that's the one where the other place told me I needed a new deraileur). read more
