Still not out of the woods with the Vado SL 2 (bought brand new) - but the symptoms I experienced may be a part of the training phase for the motor/controller/t-sensor and the comparisons I'm making and expectations I'm setting based off the 1.0 version may also be exacerbating the situation. We'll see after the next 100-200 miles. More importantly, the customer service by manager Rob and the mechanics has been beyond outstanding. Can't say enough about their response and follow through. Greggs service dept has always been super easy to work with, today for example I walked in with a kickr and a cassette I was having issues installing. They spent 15 minutes getting the cassette on (free hub was a little damaged) and charged me nothing. Gregg's is an excellent, well stocked bicycle shop that has pretty much anything you could want. I came here with the parental unit, who was in the market for a lot of accessories, especially clothing. Due to him trying on basically the entire store, I got to get very well acquainted with all of the products. If you're in the market for a bicycle they're definitely worth the stop as they have a large selection. Lots of helmets as well with some really cool technologies to help keep you safe. All the other accessories you'd expect to find they have at least 1 option. Staff were all efficient and friendly. Absolutely worth stopping by if you're in the area! read more

Gregg's inexplicably refused to replace my flat tire. The employee cited some inane reason about brake specs, but replacing a tire has nothing to do with brakes. My bike is reliable, I use it for commuting, and a reputable bike shop built it. I wouldn't shop there. They might concoct a reason to refuse maintenance. Just bought a bike for my 3 year old here at gregg's. Called ahead and made sure they had in stock toddler kid bikes and they said they had a lot to choose from. Right on Bellevue way- you cant miss the multi story bikeplex. Parking had less than 20 spots and i think i got one of the last in their undercover shop parking. When I entered i tried to look cool and do the stairs. I chose poorly. The kids bikes were multiple flights up. Like as in top floor. Next to service station. Thank goodness i bought a bike so i could have a definite reason for the elevator down. Was in and out in 30 minutes. I looked for a few minutes( maybe 5?) and had a lot of questions. This was all new to me. What height? Whats the difference between trek and specialized ? Can i take it home today? I need a bell put on can they do that too? Also i need to pick up my son for school in 30. Seemed like an impossible task but Gregg's took good care of me. I did have to ask the service counter after a few minutes of no sales person in sight and Francis appeared almost immediately after I asked for help. Whew. Francis was awesome. He made me feel like i had it all covered. Explained how helmet should fit and showed me the height chart where i could line up my son's height (ish ) and then helped me pick a trek 16". And he also helped me feel confident i didn't need a smaller one. No pressure to buy but once i said nope i want it now and i want to throw it in my trunk asap-- he ran it over the service counter explaining that they'd double check all bolts etc were all tightened. He also had them install the bell while we picked out helmet and he rung me up. For about $300 and guarantees that it would all work. In elevator down there was a 30ish couple very sweet- helped me open door to parking and also we talked about bike streamers and kid bikes back in the day. Was just a nice friendly bike shop with good friendly customers inside. How did my son like the bike? He literally jumped on it & was the perfect fit!! And the helmet -- also perfect fit. And i know i would have never been so lucky ordering on amazon or going somewhere else. Plus i didn't really have to do crazy research ahead of time like i normally would on such a purchase. Will definitely be coming back here when we need to upgrade the bike when he's older or for a tire refill or maybe ill get real adventurous and get one for myself next. read more

This place is fantastic! First of all, this establishment is huge. This is the biggest bike shop I have ever been to, it has 2 stories and even an elevator. This bike shop is renowned as the best bike shop in Western Washington, and I can understand why. The Customer service is top-notch, very nice employees are here. Been shopping at Gregg's Lynnwood for years. You can always count on knowledgeable people to help get what you need at any of the Gregg's locations. The Bellevue store is a cut above the rest. I followed Travis the mechanic from Lynnwood to Bellevue because he does an AWESOME job keeping my bikes running. He is the best bike mechanic, period. The extra drive is totally worth it. Really easy parking. Great multi-floor selection of clothing, bikes, accessories, and tools with an elevator for accessibility, like a department store. I wish you could write separate reviews for service and sales. Service is fine for the annual tune-up (which is no longer offered with the bike purchase) but I don't take my bikes in for problems anymore after a few rounds of short-lived bandaid repairs. The sales team is awesome, though. Special shout out to TJ and Tyler, who were patient and helpful with me during the FIVE visits I took to make up my mind! I was lucky enough to be the only customer in the store when I finally settled on a bike, and I had basically the entire sales staff helping me tune in my fit. I was having trouble with my Giant Defy road bike with electronic shifting. I brought it to Gregg's Bellevue and Fritz took care of my problem on the spot! He found the issue with my battery and cables, recommended new tires (I was running tubes in tubeless Giant tires) and replaced rear disc brake pads. I was so impressed by his service and dedication to his craft! He was all about doing things right. Reasonable place to come get your bike fixed but the lines are long due to Covid restrictions (be aware of this prior to coming). Usually if you are shopping for bikes or parts you can get in faster than the people who are waiting for service. Just wait in line until someone comes out to check on who needs what in line. The two times I came, I waited about 1.5 hours the first time (drop off) and 30 minutes the second time (pick up). They are busy and the staff try to do their best to keep things moving while making sure the customers and staff remain safe. Is it optimal for your time management? No, but that's where Washington state is right now in regards to Covid, not Gregg's Cycle's fault. read more

They don't keep track of their inventory and so when you make an online order they'll charge you only to later on tell you "sorry that part is not in stock". They are like a lot of cheap-ass bike shops that don't invest in software to keep up with current inventory so online customers have to play the "got your money and now wait till we get back to you to tell you we don't have it in stock" game. Fritz at the Bellevue shop did an great job dealing with a complicated repair on my bike today. I came in a little hot and he stayed calm and patient (even though he was obviously busy). He listened carefully to me vent and offered practical solutions. He then took personally took over my bike repair to finish it while I waited so I would not have to make another trip to the shop. Wow, talk about amazing service! Highly recommend this place to get a bike. I came in Saturday to get a bike, I couldn't test ride it because the COVID19 was going on and they wanted to make sure their customers and staff were safe. I went home and after riding it for 10 minutes realized it was a bit to big for me. I came back on Sunday, the following day, to change it for a smaller size then realized a mountain bike wasn't meant for me. I came back on Monday, for a third time, and they helped me found a bike I can ride around the city. Absolutely in love with my bike, the service, the patience this team had with me!!!! No, it was not busy... the two kids behind the counter were busy talking about the weekend. What is it about BELLEVUE businesses? (Update as of 6/27) And now I got a message from Greggs stating he watched video footage and didn't see anyone not being helped. Right... Now I'm a liar, and have nothing better to do than conjure up negative reviews about a bike shop. It's too bad that the response wasn't more positive, or provided a way to improve the service. After many visits to Gregg's for repairs to or replacements of my ebike's motor, its service department ran out of patience (forget about my patience) and blamed the problem on me -- despite the bike's wide tires and huge shocks -- for riding on Kirkland Corridor gravel instead of on street pavement. The problem Gregg's gave up on was later solved by Montlake Cycle, who added that the bike was clearly built to handle gravel. So if you want to waste your time and money on a shop that won't hesitate to throw you and your bike under the bus, then go to Gregg's Cycle. read more

This place SUCKS. I dropped off my 1963 Schwinn Hollywood Cruiser to have tires and inner tubes replaced. I supplied the parts and was just looking to have them installed. I made it very clear that this was a very special bike to me as my deceased brother refurbished the bike for me 20 years ago. After three days my boyfriend received a call (even though I supplied my phone number and it was my bike) and they informed him that the tires were the wrong size and they couldn't install them. I believe they even gave him a name and number of another bike shop to take it to. So I stop in the following Saturday to pick up my bike to take elsewhere. The very young gentleman (I think his name was Alex) looked at my bike and said "Oh we can do this. It shouldn't take long." So I was very happy and went to treat myself to a nice lunch while waiting on the bike. After an hour and a half, the young man calls me to inform me that the repairs cannot be made! What a complete waste of my time! So I go back to pick up the bike again. When I receive my bike, not only is my bell broken, but the custom made suede streamers my nephew made for the bike ...one was broken and missing. They didn't seem to care at all about the broken/missing items when I brought it to their attention. After getting the proper tires and repairs made at Harvey's Bikes in Lynnwood (I highly recommend this place) I get my bike home. It's here now that I discovered that the valve stem covers that have dice on them were missing!!! I immediately call Gregg's and speak to the manager Fritz. I expressed my frustration and indicated the total lack of professionalism that I experienced. Fritz apologized and stated he would look for my dice valve stem covers and replace if need be. I finally received a call the following Tuesday or Wednesday indicating that Fritz had finally "found" them. (My guess is that whoever took my bike in became quite fond of the dice valve covers and figured I wouldn't notice them missing.). Fritz indicated that they had been mistakenly swept into a drawer upon cleanup. Fritz again apologized but never offered a refund on the chain repair I did get done at Gregg's, or any other offer or compensation for my frustration, and all the stress caused to me. When I picked up the dice, it took 10 minutes and two servicemen to find them as Fritz was not in office. This place is so unprofessional, unpredictable and downright insensitive to the fact that I made it extremely clear how much this bike meant to me. The stress and anger caused is unforgivable. I will NEVER take a bicycle to them for anything and I will tell everyone I can about the horrible experience I had there. Go to Harvey's Bicycles in Lynnwood. Not only did they have the parts I needed, but it took them literally ten minutes to make the repairs. They had a great appreciation for my antique bicycle and took great care of it in the short time they needed to have it. read more

I took my 11 year old Cannondale into for service. I spoke to Brett who was really great. I just asked that he take a look and tell me what it needs. I had it in previously and they did a great job. The bike had been in storage for a while and the tires were flat. I walked in and Brett was at the counter. I told him the circumstance and he put it on the rack immediately. He could have told me it needed the Platinum Service and I would have agreed. Instead, he took the time to go through the gears, the brakes, the rims, the tires, and did an overall assessment. He said that all it needed was air in the tires and that the rest of it was perfect. He oiled the chain, cleaned the bike, and sent me on my way with no charge. For me, trust is paramount. He strengthened a trust that already existed by telling me I did not need service. This is a credit to the ethical foundation of Gregg's. I will continue to do business with them and they will always be my first choice when getting my bike serviced or when I consider a replacement. Pros: Nice, large store. Tons of bikes and gear. I've been happy with the quality of the maintenance work done on my bike. Cons: This location needs a serious customer service overhaul. Depending on who you talk to, the general staff range from friendly to standoffish. Not always the most welcoming place, but I can deal. However, the service department appears to be a hot mess. My first experience was calling ahead to ask if they had time for a repair I needed. I was assured I could drop by, no problem. I showed up with my bike and was balked at by the service staff for thinking I could get the repair done. "But I called ahead!", I told them. I could tell the guy felt bad, and he took my bike and apologized, doing the repair. Nice guy, just clearly really busy and put in a bad spot by whoever spoke with me on the phone. A couple weeks later I dropped my bike off for its tune-up appointment (I had pre-arranged the tier of service I wanted). Dropping it off was a real ordeal, and took way too long for reasons I don't quite understand. I was assured I would be called the following day regarding the status of my bike. 5 days later.. no call. I showed up on a Saturday morning to retrieve my bike, and was faced with another customer service nightmare. A looong line started forming at the service department (luckily most of the line formed behind me!), with none of the guys behind the counter acknowledging us. Finally one of the regular staff took note of my pained puppy-dog eyes and started to triage. The real issue here is communication with the customer. If something is going to take forever, tell me *why*, and explain the process. Don't let enormous lines form without at least talking to each person in line to figure out what they need. read more

Dallas was incredibly patient and knowledgeable as he helped us find a pair of shoes. He answered all of our questions and didn't rush us to make a decision. There was another person who was very nice and helpful in suggesting how to install what we purchased. Some of the others who worked there weren't as customer service friendly. I was surprised one person was helping customers without a mask on. And another one was rushing us. 5 stars for Dallas and the selection. Had to come here right quick to get some maintenance tune up items for me bike. Nice location, up a few flight of stairs, nice looking floor with tune up items to your right, some featured bikes as you walk up, a lot of bikes to your left and clothing towards the rear with other gear. Decent different kinds of helmets to choose from, a lot of spandex stuff but I dont do that. Staff was helpful, only took a few minutes for them to come over to help me and we chatted about a few things and gave me some helpful advice on selecting what I needed. Had time to walk around to check out their bikes, prices range from affordable to hell nah! Overall, a pretty decent bike shop, its on the other side of town for me so when Im in the area, I may stop by from time to time to check out their inventory some more or even a try a test ride on them cyclocross bikes! woohoo! read more

They have won me over. I was riding my road bike across the I-90 trail when I noticed that my chain kept slipping out of gear. Not having alot of bicycle know how and being pretty far from home I was a bit worried about my chances of getting back across the bridge to Seattle. I stopped by here since I was in Bellevue anyways. The store does have an odd set up as previously stated with the service shop on the 2nd floor which they urge you take the elevator esp if you are in cycling cleats. They identified my problem and tuned me up without charge. He initially was going to try and sell me a $75 full tune up with lube etc.. but than he retracted it on his own accord which I appreciate. Will add more later about the goods next time when I come back!! read more

Just picked up a Cannondale Quick 5. What a great experience - from the original purchase/order (a month ago, thanks Ian!) to the test drive and pick up (thanks to Austin!) it was super. I had visited another local bike shop who had the bike I wanted, but the service provided at Gregg's in Bellevue was far superior to how I was treated at the local shop. Gregg's Cycle towers as a heavenly beacon of bicycle goodness in the center of a bloated 'SUV exhaust filled' Bellevue Way. (can we say ' road diet please!' ;) During my am Seattle -Bell commute, I was lucky enough to get two flats in one morning. yeah the joys of cycling some days.. ugh.. I had to wait until 10am for Gregg's shop to open so I could take my tire in to hunt for the glass culprit that I obviously missed on the tire change. I had already burned through two tubes and needed more as well. I got to work showered, changed, grabbed the tire off my bike and hoofed it down the road in my work heels. When I got to the shop I had the most helpful service, the clerk even changed the tube out for me and pumped up the tire. I've always liked Gregg's for quality bicycle selction and gear (not necessarily the best prices.. but quality gear) and now I had a taste of great follow up service at a great price. I am giving the Bellevue location 2 stars, but am giving the Green Lake location 5 stars. I visited the Bellevue location because they were the only bicycle shop in town that had the exact make and model of the bicycle that I wanted to buy. My previous bike had just been stolen the week before. Oddly, the salesperson I dealt with did not seem very interested in selling me a bicycle. Maybe because it was not a very expensive bike? (It was expensive to me!) He seemed distracted and more interested in some of the other bicycle customers who had come in while I was trying to buy the bicycle. I had informed him that the bicycle was not shifting well. The chain kept jumping some of the gears. He didn't seem to believe me. But I finally convinced him to take it upstairs to the repair shop. While I was waiting for it, I was shopping around for accessories, because why not? And while I had a few questions about some accessories, again it felt as if I was not as much of a priority as some of the other customers who had come in. Then I got my bicycle back, and when I rode it home, the gear issue was still there! WTH? I was only a few feet out of the shop, but had decided that I would not return. I was done with Gregg's Bellevue Cycle. A few days later, I took my bicycle to Gregg's Green Lake Cycle, and explained the issue. They put my bike on the stand right away, and quickly fixed the issue, while also explaining to me how to adjust the derailleur in the future should this ever happen again. He did such a great job, that he inspired me to buy tools and a bicycle stand and deepen my knowledge of all things bicycle repair. So, my recommendation is, if possible, go with the Green Lake location. Much more accessible, friendlier, and effective! read more
