Adam is a top notch mechanic, after visiting over 15 shops over the years it is a pleasure to know a mechanic who has the best interest of the customer. Very professional and the shop is full of goodies. After Adam being my main mechanic for 4 bikes and over 7 years he has helped me with simple maintenance, full custom builds, and even a nightmare warranty (until Adam was of service with the warranty claim). I take all my bikes to Adam. I race road, mountain, and cyclocross, and I finally found a shop I love - after living in Issaquah for nearly 20 years. Adam is the only one that will look-over my bike and find exactly what's wrong with it during the annual tune-up, dropper, and fork service. The biggest difference is that I trust the bike when it's been with Adam. Since he's a one-man shop, he has quality control and guarantees his work. Bike wrenching is not my profession, I can't fix it myself, that's why I need a shop; but at other bike shops, I often feel like they treat me like I'm an idiot. Wow! I brought my bike here for a sticky fork after some recommendations from friends. Picked up my bike today and as Adam was explaining everything he did to it I started swallowing hard worrying about what the charge was going to be. Well the price was well below what I expected and my bike is better than new. There are plenty of traditional bike mechanics in Seattle but no real standouts when it comes to MTBs. Very cool shop, made the trip out to look at what gear they had. Just be warned, the shop is pretty small and they don't have a great variety. Meet a guy out on the trail a few months back and he was talking up Adam from Issaquah. "Small little shop but he knows his shit" With a little google investigating I tracked down his shop. I had spoke w 3 of the larger more well know shops on the Eastside yesterday. I was trying to figure out a shock issue I'm having. "My ETA adjuster (lockout) would not release" 2 of the 3 told me I would need to send it in and have it rebuilt. ( I thought this was a little much as my shock was working fine with no leaks when I parked it last and still has no leaks) So today I called Adam. He was super helpful over the phone and was spot on with his assessment of my shock. I brought it in and 10min later it was fixed along with a few other good observations that need to be addressed soon. No matter the industry, it's becoming harder an harder to find shops that have quality craftsmanship and real working knowledge of the industry which they work in. Absolutely great experience. Took my bike in today for a dropper seat to be fitted. Before doing it Adam checked my bike out, repaired the rear shock, replaced a bunch of broken stuff and was incredibly knowledgeable and helpful. Was recommended by a friend to check this place out after having unsuccessful work done at different shops in Kent and Bellevue. I brought my full suspension XC bike here for work twice. One of the times was a rebuild of the front and rear shocks. The other time was for repair of my rear hub. Adam, the owner and repair tech is very knowledgeable with his craft. Both repairs were done in FASTER times than I had smaller repairs done at other shops, and this was in the middle of mtb season during the Covid bike craze. I feel that both of the repairs were appropriately priced for parts and labor. I also very much appreciate that Adam schedules a day for you to bring in your bike before your repair so that you can keep riding it until he is ready for it, rather than most shops that will hold onto your bike for a few weeks before it even gets looked at. Very happy with my experiences at Downhill Zone, the bike is riding excellent, and I will continue to take my bike there. read more

Had an issue with my brake at a nearby trail and managed to forget my tool kit it so drove back into Issaquah with hopes of salvaging my ride for the day. Downhill Zone was the first shop I found as I came into town. Brought my bike in with me and asked the guy working there if he could take a look at it but he said he didn't have any spare time and turned me away... he didn't seem interested in helping me in any way. I realize he probably had a schedule for the day he wanted to stick to, but there was nobody else in the shop, I had my bike in hand and I was willing to pay for his time. I wouldn't have been upset even if he had taken the 5 minutes to take a look at it and had said that it would take too much time to fix. Fortunately there are lots of other nearby bike shops in town to choose from. Turns out it was a easy fix, just requiring removal of the wheel and spreading the brake pistons. 5-10 minute fix. Just found it surprising they were so unwilling to help someone out. read more

I found out from a sales person at REI in Issaquah that a Downhill Zone existed on Front Street. I needed mountain biking gloves for a 6 year old and struck out at REI and all of the sports stores. I do not know the name of the man who helped us at Downhill Zone Issaquah, but he was very helpful. He had just the right gloves, was knowledgeable, and told us he could help with other protective clothing if we needed it. I will definitely return as my grandson gets further into mountain biking and needing bikes and equipment. read more
