Saw a woodpecker while walking the trail.

I really enjoy this trail. My dog and I have been walking this trail every day since we first tried it out. Love that it is behind the surrounding apartment complexes, houses, downtown Mill Creek, and streets. You get to experience the beautiful sights as you walk the trail and meet so many people. There are cyclists that ride the trail too so if you have small children, pets, and/or listening to music be aware of them coming from behind you. There are also of plenty of doggy bags so you can pick up your dogs poop and trash cans to dispose them. Also if you need to rest, there are plenty of benches and picnic tables to stop at.

I enjoy this park for a quick hike with my dog, especially in the evenings. Trails are well maintained with a few muddy spots no matter what time of year. There are restrooms at the bottom where the main beachfront is. This recent time I went, there were quite a few trail runners. I can see how this a great spot for that.

We brought down 2 totes that contained picnic items and towels for picnic on the beach and it was fine. I wouldn't say the trails were hard outside of the fact that it is on a hill. It would be tricky on folks who have issues with their knees or ankles though, and there are areas one could fall easily if you don't watch your step. There's a large play area that would entertain kiddos for several hours and several large fields! I was surprised they had public access to the seminary, which includes restaurants/bars and artwork. I loved the art pieces, they even have some George Tsutakawa pieces which was a nice treat! The bar downstairs has a beautiful corner seating area that has a nice mural painted on it, though I did not partake in drinking/eating. The library is also open to the public I believe 2-5p weekdays, but if you're staying here, it's open with your FOB. I had a very nice experience, it's a good way to spend a summer day. There are 2 areas for discover pass parking, but also a pay-to-park machine as well.

It's 54 miles from Mukilteo. The Mukilteo version of Lake Serene is just a little pond surrounded by houses. 98% of the lake shore has waterfront homes, so there's no way to hike here unless you stroll the sidewalks on Serene Way and Shelby Road. Lots of people walk their dogs there every day, but this isn't a hiking trail.

The wooden walkway on the wetlands is what makes this park unique. In a couple spots, the boardwalk does sway a bit and has small slopes that end in little puddles of water on the path (which I thought was awesome but I can see some people not liking this), but for the most part it's dry, flat, and stable for pedestrians on foot. It's not a huge park, but I think we spent at least 45 minutes exploring it. When we got to the end of the boardwalk, it turned into a gravel road that seemed to lead up to a small farm or something and a road... so we had to turn around to get back to where we started. It is not a loop. That's my only complaint. It's a simple walk with maybe not the most spectacular, but still pleasant views. The tall grass in the fields remind me of the Midwest (where I'm originally from), so it captures my heart.

The wetland boardwalk is one of my favorites, and a bit nostalgic as I grew up in the south surrounded by marshes. Unfortunately, safety is now a concern being that there have been encampments nestled into the corners of the boardwalk we've stumbled into; we quietly but quickly walked back towards the entrance. Overall, North Creek Park is a nice and very clean park for families to enjoy.
