Such a great little beach park!! It's only accessible by hiking down to it (a little more than a mile one way) but so worth it. It's a beautiful little spot that seems secluded/private. The hike has some decent incline on the way back to your car, so bring your water! The trail itself is pretty shaded so it can be chilly. Dog friendly! Limited parking so be ready for a little wait. The lot closes at dawn. Highly recommend though!! read more

Nice hike lots of stairs and nice incline to get your heart going. My dogs enjoyed the creek accesses, and playing in the waves when we arrived at the beach. There is a outhouse at the top parking lot, and one once you get to the lower beach area. But they are not stocked with TP and seem to be needing more frequently tended to than they are currently being maintained. Very yucky in them. Bring sanitizer. read more

I used to avoid meadowdale Beach Park because of the fishy/unpleasant smells, but they recently renovated it and I have been twice the past month already! It is a light trail, around 1.5 hours going to the final point (a beach) and back. Good for families or anyone, as there are little to no steep hills other than a short flight of stairs. One thing to note is that there are often puddles and mud, so dress accordingly! read more

A beautiful, fairly easy hike with some small inclines but a whole lot of trees, flowers, creek sneak peeks, and outlet to the beach. Perfect path that is easy to follow and keeps you engaged with the scenery and exercise. Plenty of benches and tables at the beginning, end, and during the trail of you want to sit down or picnic. There's even a pull-up bar on the trail! read more

This beach park is a great place to visit. There is a 1 1/4 mile trail that gets you to and from the park. The trail has quite a few hills, so be prepared for a workout. Once you arrive at the beach, the scenery is incredible. You can see the Olympic Mountains from the beach on a clear day. read more

THINGS TO KNOW BEFORE YOU GO: 1) As of June 2021, you cannot make it down to the beach due to construction. You can go about a mile down the trail before a chain link fence prevents you from going further (see my photos for more info) 2) For those of you with bad knees or ankles, use caution. While the trail is in excellent condition, approx the first 1/2 mi. Is a fairly steep decline and can be a bit rough on your knees and ankles Now, that said, this is a wonderful little hike through the woods. The trail is well constructed with a handful of stairs in places with well maintained gravel and dirt trails. There also benches along the way for resting and some pull up bars, if that's your thing. You'll find yourself in a peaceful pocket of woods next to Edmonds with a little creek to follow as you make your way down the trail. While it was a little busy, it was nowhere near crowded and there were lots of friendly dogs to meet and greet along the way. It makes for a perfect little escape from all the hustle and bustle of the nearby city. I'll definitely be back again once they open the rest of the trail down to the beach. read more

This is a great local trail for us that's always great. If you're thinking it's only 1.3 miles down and 1.3 miles back, and that's not enough, guess what? There's a side trail that you can go on adding a significant amount of walking. We found it on the all trails app. The trail is pretty much straight down to the beach and you could a good mile along the beach or more if the tide is out. read more

I LOVE this trail! Lots of burbling creeks and streams and greenery on the way to the beach. The hike is very much worth it, the beach itself is wonderful and secluded. I was able to find lots of sea-glass here. Very enjoyable. Rinse station at the entrance to the beach, water bottle refill, and also some porta-potties and covered picnic area. I was pleasantly surprised at the amount of amenities. I'm very glad that such a wonderful hike and beach access exists so close to home! Only downside is the parking lot is usually full--and I mean FULL. Not a single space to park. There is not parking around the park either since it is a residential area. There is a porta-potty at the parking lot though which is nice. I suppose the limited parking space helps keep it less populated, which is good. I wish this place would remain a hidden gem forever lol! The trail is not very stroller-friendly, as it is quite steep in some areas and there is a couple flights of stairs along the trail. If you are walking with a child, I recommend baby wearing somehow (either carrier or backpack). Note that the trip back may be a heck of a workout with the extra weight, depending on your fitness level. You may find yourself jealous of the park ranger's private residence so close to the beach lol! If I was able to live here my life would be complete xD Small complaint, I liked the old small tunnel to the beach more than the new huge one. The old one felt more magical to me. read more

What an awesome park just a couple miles away from our house! I headed here twice within weeks of each other cuz I liked it so much! Parking: there is a free parking lot. It was full the other day when we pulled in closer to noon on a Sunday. If you wait a few min though, ppl come and go all the time. It is about 2 miles R/T to the beach and back. There is a 1/2 mile sign you pass. The trail is downhill going to the beach then uphill on the way back with some stairs in between. There's a small staff housing once you get closer to the beach and it has a cute free mini library. There is a little tunnel that leads to the beach that goes under the train tracks. The tide was so high the first time I went we couldn't get to the beach without getting soaked. The 2nd time we got to the sand but it started hailing on us. I need to head back here on a sunny day! read more

I discovered this place through my friend and wouldn't have known about it due to it being hidden away amongst a housing community. The parking is pretty tight, and I got really lucky to grab a spot before it suddenly got really busy. The trail itself is nice, about a 1.5 mile hike, mostly downhill to the beach area (more of rocky beach than a sand beach!). Everyone was being COVID friendly with masks on the trail. The beach is nice to walk around and there's lovely views of the Olympic mountains (though I had a really nice morning for it!). There were trains passing by too which was really fun to watch! The 1.5 mile hike back up isn't going to excite people but it's not the worst. When I arrived back to the trail head there was a long line of cars waiting for people to leave. The parking is free, the trail was fairly well maintained and of course the beach access is a nice treat! Will be back! read more

Meadowdale Beach Park is a hidden neighborhood park that gives you access to the beach. It's about one mile downhill, rounding your way through a well-maintained trail covered with mossy forest greens, before suddenly finding a forest ranger's private home and a clearing with a park. Walk under the tunnel at the far end of the park, and the beautiful beach reveals itself to you. It's stunning. Some parts are sandy and some are rocky. In the right tidal conditions, I suspect wonderful wildlife can be found as bits and pieces can be seen. At the current time, small buds from flowers are emerging. This trail will be even more darling soon. Going back uphill for the 1 mile has its sweaty moments. The elevation is about 40 stories. Though there is a parking lot, it's modest sized. There is street parking in the adjacent areas. read more

Wow, this is a wonderful local gem for a quick hike to the beach. Along the way, be prepared to see many different species of trees, a stream, and a train tunnel. Some of the trees are very cool looking, as they have roots growing over another tree's trunk. Parking is free but very limited in terms of spaces. While this may be a problem, it also limits the number of people visiting the park, which can be great if you are looking for some solitude. read more

Great place for an evening hike down to the water for sunset views. They close the parking lot gate 20 min after sunset. If you can't hike back up within 20 min I highly recommend you park (legally) outside of the gated parking lot area or your vehicle will be locked inside of the parking lot. It's never happened to me but they have a lot of signs stating this will happen at various points on your hike. This is also a good place when it snows to go sledding due to the big hills. The hike is easy going down but coming back up it's a climb for some as it's straight back up with stairs at one point. Beautiful trail with ample amount of space for passing others. My family of 4 really enjoys this trail. read more

The walking path from the parking lot down to the beach is an enjoyable beginner level 'nature walk' that brings you out on an easily traversed beach. A little over 2 miles roundtrip. The trail and beach are kept very clean. When we went, we were lucky that the path was not crowded and it was a good-weather day. The trail is dog-friendly and people bring all sorts of dogs. Be prepared for a little mud and be careful on the steeper parts of the trail so you don't slip and fall. read more

We were visiting seattle in October and wanted a shorter hike to take near our hotel in Lynnwood. This park came up as an option do we went for it. I am so glad we did. I was completely blown away by its beauty. The trail is very well maintained with boardwalks and good markings. I will say that going down was easy and coming up required a bit of stamina. You walk for approximately a mile and 1/2 through beautiful rainforest areas and it opens up to a cabin (for the park ranger) and a field with gazebo. To get to the beach, you walk in z tunnel under the traintracks, which run tight by the beach. If you walk to your left, you will eventually come to an abandoned warf. Go during low tide for the best experience so you can see all the low tide goodies such as shells. This was a breath taking walk I hope to do on our next visit. read more

What a beautiful park. The walk down to the ocean was an easy 1 and 1/4 walk. The walk back is a little trying (steep) for those of us that are out of shape, but well worth it. I regularly come here on the weekends to exercise with my wife. It is a short 2.4 mile hike (using my fitbit to keep track) both ways. The hike starts downhill and is easy and pleasant. When you get to the bottom, you will see a small beach at the end, with sand, rocks, and a rentable picnic shelter with many benches that do not need to be reserved. The beach is clean and the water nice to wade in if the weather is right. Going back is a good cardio workout since it is uphill. You will be sweating and maybe out of breath depending on your fitness level near the top before you reach the flight of wooden stairs. Plenty to parking at the lot or on the street. Just watch out if you choose to park in the neighborhood. read more

This place is a gem! If you're looking for a nice nature walk, or if you're in the mood for outdoor exercise but not looking for a full-on hike, this place is perfect for you. This park takes you on a trail through a beautiful forest, and a beach awaits you at the end. I also like that the trail isn't overcrowded due to the fact that the parking lot is extremely small. Don't expect to find a spot in the parking lot right away. You might have to park by the houses and then walk to the trailhead. read more

I love this trail. It's a well maintained wooded trail with a stream running along side it in some parts. The trail runs past a ranger station, a BBQ area and park, under train tracks and ends at the beach. This hike is entirely downhill on the way to the beach and is dog friendly (must be unleash). This is the little hidden gem park I've been looking for since I moved north. It's a great companion to Richmond Beach Park in Shoreline. It's a similar setting--the shoulder of a hill dropping down to a gorgeous stretch of Puget Sound beach facing Whidbey and the Olympics. Where Richmond Beach has vehicle access practically to the shoreline, though, this one is over a mile of woods from the parking lot to the water. No, I don't really want to admit how much the slope kicked my ass, but that says a lot more about how out of shape I am right now than it does about the hill. I saw people of all ages cheerfully climbing the hill, if that tells you anything. There's not much to this place, other than a parking lot and a small set of trails that lead through mixed forest down to the shoreline. There's a picnic shelter at the foot of the hill, and you walk under the train track out to the driftwood and sand. There might be a few people down there, and, if there are, there will probably be almost as many dogs down there as there are people. Almost everyone here had a dog with them. But it's also possible that you might catch the beach at a quiet moment, and it'll just be you and your new friends, the freight trains. It's a beautiful, very well-maintained trail with railings and steps. They cut out the fallen trees and grade the trail well, but it's almost all soil, so wear sturdy shoes or even boots with decent soles that can afford to get wet. I'm gonna start coming here often enough that the sweet little old Lynnwood ladies won't outrun me back up the hill. read more

After a nice 1.5 mile hike from the trailhead, you will be rewarded by reaching a spectacular secluded beach complete with sand, driftwood benches and picnic table. You'll definitely be tempted to stop here, but there's more. Keep going, there's a large rocky path that winds around on the edge of the Puget Sound, offering unobstructed views of the water. Tip 1: there's large uphill stairway on the way back, it'll give your legs and lungs a good workout. Tip 2: Winter is not a good time to come, the tunnel that allows access to the beach gets flooded, so you may have to turn around without setting foot on the beach. Tip 3: there's a sand volleyball court, covered gathering area with picnic tables and bathroom, it's equipped for a fun group gathering. Great destination for a peaceful walk. read more

WOW! This is an amazing park and hike. It was not too long or too short. On the way down it was downhill for the most part and back up it was steady until you're almost out of the park. The beach is phenomenal! I love the ocean and could sit there all day if I could. My bf and I enjoyed skipping rocks, taking pictures and watching the waves crash on the shore. This beach is less than 10 minutes away from our home, so we will be coming here more often! read more

Tucked next to the railroad tracks, the beach is a little cramped to play fetch with fido during high tide. It is a scenic place to watch the sunset, and worth the hike. There is a grassy area on the other side of the tracks (no Puget Sound view, no beach) that is large enough to play a game of frisbee. A picnic shelter, picnic tables, BBQs and water fountains are also available. The play-toys in the tiny park in the upper area are nothing a kid would get excited about. This could end up in a whine-fest/temper tantrum if your child doesn't like to hike up hill on the way back from the beach. Consider making this a 'field trip' if you have a young one, leave with snacks, some beach buckets and ample time to go at their pace for best results. For those without kids, it is an enjoyable walk that will get you sweating on the way up to the parking lot. It could legitimately count as a light cardio/stairmaster workout. read more

My guests took me here for a quick hike and it is a very picturesque trail with a lovely canopy of trees and ferns along the way. You follow a creek down a small valley to the shore on Puget Sound. It is pretty crowded by the locals and there is plenty of parking at the trail head. At the bottom there are picnic grounds and the creek goes underneath a BNSF railroad tracks into Puget Sound with boards above to provide pedestrian access. From there you can walk both north and south for a few miles. When we returned we found the tunnel starting to fill up with water as the tide was coming in, so I got creative and found some 2X4's and placed them part way down the tunnel so my feet would not get wet. read more

Pretty solid park. Trees, bushes, the occasional squirrel. However, I would recommend going during the day as it's casually treacherous. Also, there is a tunnel that I'm 82% sure would be considered what one might call a "safety hazard". Also, be aware, if a train happens to go over the top of the tunnel and you run out in fear you will be immediately greeted by a small pond rather than further trail. This was my first time making the trek to the beach, with 2-year-old toddler tagging/straying along, 22-weeks prego and holding a sheet ton of crap (diaper bag plus toddler's lunch bag). Having said that, this was a very easy hike. It felt rewarding to see as close to a real beach (sorry, I'm from California originally) around here that I've ever seen. The trail is nice and clear, not too steep and just easy to walk on. I noticed a lot of older people walking back up as we were coming down. I figured if they can do it, then so can I. The little picnic area before you reach the beach was a nice place to let my kiddo run around without hearing he'd end up falling a few feet out of my reach. The stream of water that comes down from the entry tunnel was a nice way for my kiddo to play in the water without fear he'd be swept away (is my anxiety coming through loud and clear yet?). A few trains passed by, and we both enjoyed it. There is something relaxing about the sound of a train. I'd definitely do this hike again, but with an extra adult to keep my sanity in check. I'd definitely come here again knowing how easy of a walk it is. Next time I'll try to be better prepared (i.e., bring my husband with me). read more
