Restoration area on the left leading up to the gazebo.
Tanis L.

Edmonds City Park was a park I frequented growing up as my Grandma Rosemary lived in Edmonds not too far from the park. Most recently, I visited this morning, Thursday 11 May 2023. The park was quiet. I encountered gray squirrels, an American crow, a man walking his dogs, and one homeless person sleeping in a gazebo who I accidentally awoke, he was peaceful. The park has a few large open areas, multiple parking areas, a baseball field, a restoration area, covered picnic areas, and a number of play areas - some of which have their own name. Each of the playgrounds are labeled with the ages of children they were designed/are meant for. Created a bit of a hostile environment for me and my memory, as my parents used to play with us in the play areas in the park that existed before the current ones. The park made clear this kind of behavior is not welcomed anymore. As someone who does not have children, I found this a bit off putting. I still used one of the swings for a few minutes as no other humans were in the area, a squirrel watched on from a near tree. The park as it existed pre-water park and age restricted playgrounds I would give five stars, the current park I would give three stars as it is not inclusive of all ages. For example, there were no designated senior areas, something my Grandma and Grandad utilized at a home they lived in. As the park was not designed with inclusivity in mind, perhaps a change of name away from city park would help. Kind of feels like false advertising when the name is city park, but not all age ranges of inhabitants of the city have been incorporated into the offerings of the park.

Splash pad area. Very toddler friendly.

I was very impressed with how clean this park is.. felt comfortable taking my toddler to the playground and splash pad area. Love how it's so near to the parking lot.. which made it easy with outfit changes & grabbing cooler. Plenty of parking as well! We went on a weekday in August and it was pretty packed but didn't feel crazy crowded due to the size of the area. Highly recommend especially those with younger kids.

We intended in going to the Edmonds Marina Beach Park, the day we checked out Edmonds City Park, but after not being able to find parking we decided to give the Edmonds City Park out. It's definitely worth the visit. The park is pretty big. Up above, next to the street, is a large field, where you could play pickup baseball/softball, soccer, football, etc. or just enjoy the luxury of having a wide open grass field to play in. The real treasure of the park is tucked behind & below that. Below the fields is more wide open grass, where kids could run and play, as well as a covered area or two, which is perfect for an outdoor party. There's also enough real estate to bring your own tent to host a birthday party/BBQ on the grass. There is a very large playground area which is separated into two sections: wet and dry. The wet/water park section has a handful of really cool fountain/sprinklers for younger kids to play in/adults to cool off on and then a large fountain/sprinkler on the other side - Note: the park is just fountains/sprinklers, you cannot swim here. Next to the wet/water park section is a dry playground on bark. There are two playground sets, a smaller playground for the younger children and a very large playground for your older/borderline teenage kids. Both playgrounds are large enough for adults to accompany their kids on. About 20-30 feet from the two playground are swing-sets as well. This park really has it all and it was well maintained. It's a great place to take the kids to play and you'll likely see many other families there as well - so it's a great place for kids to be able to interact with other kids.

City Park is a beautiful park. I just found out about this park a few days ago and decided to take my daughter there to check it out and see what it has to offer. Just be careful when trying to find the entrance, it is a little hidden. I was really impressed with the overall size of the park and how big the kids play area is. I parked in the gravel lot not knowing there was a lower lot near the play area. But I got to walk through the huge picnic area, which has covered and uncovered picnic tables. In the middle of the picnic area there is a public restroom. There are two different play areas for the kids. One side is for the toddlers and the other side is for the bigger kids. Plenty of slides and swings for the kids to enjoy. Just up the grassy hill from the play area there is a baseball field and a pavilion where they supposedly have free concerts at in the summer. There are plenty of grassy areas to let the kids run around or even play catch.

I love this park. So well taken care of. I feel safe when we go to this park, and the water pad is amazing.

This is a fantastic park. It's got a great toddler play structure and the splash pad is perfect for new walkers.

I don't know why, but I have always been scared crossing the bridge over the railroad tracks on the way from the parking lot to the beach. I have no fear of heights, and in fact I feel much more peaceful in the air or on the water than I do on the earth. The bridge is sturdy and safe, with tall, secure fencing on both sides. Little kids were crossing it today with no fear at all. One little kid was getting pulled across it in a large wagon. That was pretty cute to see. It is a bit of a trek from the parking lot to the beach area, a trek that includes this perfectly safe bridge which I somehow mysteriously feel scared while walking on. I recently injured my right heel playing tennis, so I was limping and hobbling and walking quite slowly, but this walk was still quite doable for me today. There were a lot of people at this beach park today, but it really didn't feel crowded, and everyone we talked to was friendly. The only slight bummer was that one of the reasons that we went out there today was to talk with a Naturalist from the Seattle Aquarium. We talked with 3 different Naturalists. They were all friendly enough, but all 3 of them seemed noticeably unenthusiastic about talking about the sea life at this beach park. Oh well, we moved on pretty quickly from that, and we really enjoyed this beach park anyway. There were a few people flying kites, and the mountains looked clear and bright behind the sunlit water. I waded in the water (one of my favorite things to do in life), and the cold waves breaking over my legs and feet felt wonderful on a hot day like today. 5 stars for sure. This place is so beautiful.

They would walk us places for adventures during the week and Yost Park and Pool were one of the places we got to adventure. I enjoyed it then and still enjoy it now over two decades later. The pool itself is well built to be child friendly. It is in a stout 'L' shape with 25 yards in shallow to mid-depth waters. Very nice when one is young. The water as I remember it is cold, not a bad thing just a shock to the system to those who were not accustomed to it. Above the pool there are tennis courts, picnic tables, and a playground. There is also a sloped grassy area around the pool, but not one to play sports on really. I most recently visited Yost Park on Wednesday the 8th of July 2020 with my mom. Steep trails can freak her out a bit. One of the nice things about the trail system at Yost is that railings are provided in areas where the trail is steeper. Helpful in keeping one's balance and providing support while going up or down a hill. Signage along the trails provide warnings to heed especially when it is rainy and the trails can be slick as well as historical information about the park. We saw a chipmunk, a variety of birds, squirrels, and different plants on our visit last Wednesday. If driving here, make sure to check under your car before you leave so as to not run over and kill any critters who might be under it. I found a gray squirrel exploring under my car when my mom and I went to leave. Happy to wait for the little critter to continue on its way before driving off so it can live. Fun place to bond with the wildlife!

The park itself is great for exercise as several of the trails have good incline so you can get a bit of a workout. I stopped short of giving 5 stars because I have encountered screaming groups of children several times who trample the vegetation off-trail and in the dry creek bed and it is very annoying that the adults supervising them allow this. One of these groups is a nature group/school for children. I am attaching a photo I took at Yost

We rented our gear from the dive shop right in front with two tanks and got into the water at 5pm. We were lucky that day as the waves were calm and visibilitiy was 40-50 ft. The good thing was the walk at the sand was short but the surface swim to the first buoy before we sank down was a 10 min swim and easy to cramp up in cold waters. We saw enormous groupers, sunken ships, crabs, large sea slugs and my boyfriend even claimed he saw a seal pop his head up to the surface when we were swimming back to shore. The best recommendation for this dive is to call the dive shop in advance to check if other divers said the visibility that day was good - makes a world's difference!

It is in a residential neighborhood, so it can also get quiet busy with kids at times. We would wait for quiet times when I was growing up and my parents would bring me and my sister here and to the adjacent Rest Lawn to learn to ride our bicycles. I preferred the paved surface of the roads on the Rest Lawn, but I learned to get started and stop on grass (at this park) as that is harder than starting on smooth surfaces. In the long term that worked out because learning to ride my bike on paved surfaces was a lot easier once I got going on grass. We'd make an effort to come during the day when most people were eating or at off hours on the weekends. Now the field in Hickman Park is turf. Be mindful what time of day you visit as the park draws different crowds at different days/times. The playground is temporarily closed due to COVID-19, but the rest of the park is open.

You can not access the water as train tracks and a fence keep you inside the park. It's a small place with little parking, but an actual bathroom on site, a playground, black berry picking and gorgeous views. It seems to be a nightly walking place for many residents in the neighborhood and a hang out spot for local teenagers. In the actual lot there are only 5 spots (1 handicap), but it appears people are able to park up on the hill above the park and walk in. The play ground looks like a nice reason to visit, but it currently has some yellow tape on it for covid.
