Not sure they'd let you use theirs anyway. There is no parking lot. The YMCA lot doesn't allow for park parking. You have to park on the street. There is usually close parking available. There is no shade. It gets really hot during the summer. All in all, I like the park for its age range. I wish there was a bathroom. We've had to leave early a bunch of times because we need a bathroom.

I rented the picnic shelter for the day for a birthday party and it was only $40. That is much cheaper than other parks in the area. The picnic tables are a little worn but it's a nice size area. And the picnic shelter is right next to the bathroom and play area. It's in a really convenient spot. I was a little worried about traffic sounds. You can hear if a car is noisy but you don't really hear just the normal traffic. It is a nice, pleasant area.

There are two play areas equipped with different play structures, a restroom building, a decent sized parking lot, a large meadow, a pond abutting the meadow, and a trail through some large, tall trees. A trail leads down to the Big Gulch Trail system from the park. On my visits thus far I have encountered various wildlife including squirrels, abundant bullfrogs, bunnies, robins, ducks, and various other birds. My mom is not one for steep cliffs on trails, so we stuck to the park area as the Big Gulch Trail can be steep in places. We love the wildlife and how present they have been when we visited. The ducks especially can get excited and run towards one. Fun to see them waddling quickly. The bullfrogs will also let one get close before jumping in the water or jumping away if getting too close. The rest of the wildlife has been friendly as well.

It connects with the Big Gulch trail complex but has its own gentle loops through mature forest filled with ferns and a couple of small ponds. We saw squirrels and bunnies in the grassy areas edging the berry filled woodland. The steep hillside keeps kiddies away from busy Mukilteo Speedway so they can enjoy the age appropriate play equipment and, of course, pick blackberries.

I personally miss the older park because the new baseball field takes up so much wasted space and is rarely used to its full extent. The center of the grass field and some other parts fill up with tons of muddy puddles whenever it rains. They take forever to dry up because the trees around the park cast shadows for the majority of the day if it's even sunny. I've slipped and fell on the grass before because it can get slippery, especially when getting pulled by a dog on leash. The best part about the renovated park for me is there's multiple garbage cans and dog bag stations throughout the park. I think there used to be only one trash can in the eastern half of the park. The cement walking path around the park is good for taking laps around the park.

After confusing the addresses for Lowell Riverfront Park and Lowell Park on Sunday 25 June 2023 and…read moregoing to Lowell Park, I decided to return and see if I could find Lowell Riverfront Park today, Thursday 29 June 2023. It is located south of Lowell Park and has a sign reading Lowell Riverfront Trail out front of an entrance to a large parking lot. The river is visible beyond a grassy area(s) and vegetation from the parking lot. A flat paved trail winds through the cover of trees and has picnic tables spaced out along its side(s). The grass was cut short on my visit today. A few people were making use of an off-leash dog area past one end of the large parking area. There was a watch out for bears alert sign on the trail and birds were out and singing. An assortment of small wild flowers were in bloom closer to the river. Water flow at the top of the river was slow and the bank of the river muddy. Even with a few people out and about around 10:40 a.m. on a weekday, the park/trail was tranquil.

The park itself is pretty big, a nice large lawn with picnic tables and plenty of space to set up a picnic on the grass. Most people seemed to be enjoying lunch in their car or on the grass or next to their cars. A few folks set up their lawn chairs and enjoyed the sunshine but point is, theres a lot space to enjoy the park however you want, it's pretty great! As for dog walking it wasn't a large area for dogs to roam around, dogs must stay on leash or you risk a fine according to the signs there, but it's still a nice area to bring your dog to while you enjoy the view. I had seen pictures of dogs in the water so I knew there had to be a trail somewhere. The lawn has a few levels to it and a lot of grassy spots areas to hang out in between the bushes and off to the left we found a dirt road. The signage was spray painted so you cant read it and the path looks pretty used so we went down it and came to the traintracks. We crossed those and found the beach where further down we saw some other people. Our dogs loved it, they got to enjoy the sunshine, roam on the grass, walk around and swim! We definitely plan on coming back just to enjoy coffee and a view, or have a nice lunch date, watch the sunset, theres quite a few fun possibilities here!
