I was really craving some Indian food, and this place came recommended by some of my coworkers. I tried the mutton curry, which was absolutely delicious, the chicken 65, the chicken biryani, and the beef kebab along with some butter naan. The chicken 65 exceeded my expectations- it was so flavorful, juicy, and tender. The biryani was delicious. The naan had just the perfect balance of crispy and soft, and the kebabs were delicious, especially when dipped in their chutney. I will definitely order from here again. Went there last Sunday. Ordered their Karachi Mutton Biriyani. I've tried mutton biriyani in every India/Pak restaurants in multiple states but for the first time last 23 years, I believe I've found my dream place for Goat biriyani. Properly spiced, flavored thru all the layers, awesome presentation, fresh, ample amount of meat and will remind you of Goat Biriyani you had at weddings or restaurants back home. If there were a zero(0) star, I would give five of them. Last Friday I bought three boxes of beef biryani. The food did not taste fresh at all. There were only a few pieces of meat & fill the box with rice. I never seen this kind of fraud before. The food smelled so bad. I have been a regular customer of this place since it open in the strip mall with other south asian shops. It is right off the highway and allows for a quick grab while you are doing your regular grocery shopping. It is no a fancy restaurant are more of a causal dining with bearable service. The food packed punch in terms of flavor and quantity esp the Dum hayderabadi biryani. However, the quality has been constantly going down hill in the last few months with no growth in service. The food doesn't taste the same anymore and feels of the use of the same generic masala/sauce for diff recipes. The sides and additions are being slowly eliminated and people at the counter has no answer for the cause of these changes. It is disappointing to see one of few high rated place with actual good food going down hill with each day. Unless they improve, I have no plans of going back. read more

As good as their food is, their service sub par, beyond belief! I had called in an order and was told it'll be ready in 30 mins. I arrive 30 mins later only for them to realize they forgot to call it in, and asked me to wait another 30 mins. Now at this point any other restaurant would profusely apologize for the oversight, and would offer to discount some items, or just offer the meal for free. Not only did I not receive an apology, the girl at the register disappeared into the kitchen repeatedly, other restaurant staff completely ignored me and my questions. I decided to forgo the chicken karara item which would take extra time and just asked for my biryani order. When my order was finally ready for pickup, the girl at the register put it in a bag and said, "It is ready", gestured to the bag and left it on the counter. No apology, nothing. I'm tired of Indian restaurants thinking as long as you get your food, bad service is ok. It was a frustrating experience and I won't be recommending them to anyone. I went for lunch there today with the office friends... ordered goat biriyani.... amount came was huge... the biriyani had mo flavor used colored rice.... the rice was not fragrant. Bit i would give one star for the amount. The price was too much for biriyani.... $14. I am foodie and I criticize bad food my friends give lot of value to my opponents opinion about food... Biriyani need to be cooked under 'dum' so that the fragrance and aroma distributes equally... this is Just colored rice and goat curry.... if the restaurant does not know how to make biriyani please dont call it so... those who are eating will get a wrong understanding of a delicate dish... not recommended... read more

If there were a negative star, I would give five of them without blinking my eyes. The services are horrible, the old man probably the owner struggling to keep up with the pace. Not enough staffing to run the business. Food is beyond the description that I can put it together. Buffet bar looks horrible with limited items. Chicken Tikka was cold, and other dishes were not eatable to my taste. The chicken curry was overpowered with turmeric. Everyone had to wait for over ten minutes for a Nunn. I have never been more saddened to write a review then this one. I have been going to this place for years and years and many of my friends have visited as well. We have been going since before they moved to this new location in the same strip mall. Recently I ordered takeout of their biryani which I have been eating for many years. I cannot tell you how disappointing this meal was. The recent reviews calling it flavorless are true. They seem to be using some generic boxed spice . Their mutton biryani had stringy, fatty meat bones... great for soup, but not biryani. The kheema was unbelievably without flavor and watery . I threw it out. I ordered 3 naans - only got one. Have the owners changed - has the chef left ? I don't know what happened to this gem but eventually , they will fail if they don't go back to what they are known for - quality food at affordable prices. Even their chicken samosas which were fabulous , now have more onions than chicken. Looks like they are trying to cut corners to maximize profit and in the food business, that always backfires. Went here for lunch with a coworker recently. Ambiance is a bit dark but definitely an improvement over their previous location. We got there around 1230 it was pretty empty (maybe one other table with 3 people). I was a bit apprehensive about ordering but went ahead and did so. They didn't have any lunch specials only regular menu items and some weren't available (I.e dum biryani). Ended up ordering a chicken boti platter (comes with rice and naan) along with single chicken tikka leg and a chicken 65 appetizer. Took about 15-20 minutes for our food to come out. To my surprise, the food tasted really good. It came out fresh and flavorful. The portions were also fairly large for the price. The boti platter was my favorite. Chicken 65 was also very good. My coworker said the biryani was really good. Given the reviews I have seen on this place, perhaps I caught them on a good day. I love this place! I used to go here weekly when I lived in Irving 6yrs ago. Although when I went recently they didn't offer the gyros like they used to. I know it's Indian food and gyros don't go with that but legit they used to sell them and they were delicious! I came here for an Iftar buffet and heard about their biryani and thought I'd try it out. Biryani was okay. Not as I expected, there was this strange scent/flavor to it like cinnamon or something, I can't really figure out what it was. I really wanted to try their haleem but it finished within 10 minutes and I wasn't able to try their haleem. People took bowls and bowls of it, so I'm guessing it must've been really good. Still, they should've made more so they could refill it. Their chicken 65 was AMAZING. Lots and lots of flavor. Also their chicken Karhai was good. Their mutton karhai also had a weird goat taste to it so I couldnt finish it. Their daal was so so so good! Haven't had good daal here and theirs was amazing. They also had chicken nuggets and fries which were good especially for kids. Naans are served fresh. Their dessert was suppose to be Kheer but it was the most milky kheer ever. Barely any rice in it. You can practically put it in a cup and drink it. Their chai was really really good if you like doodh pati/ cooked chai. Service was absolutely great. Very friendly staff considering there were so many people. They really care about the customers. I just wish they had the dates/rooh afza/samosas served at the tables individually beforehand so it would be easier to break the fast for people who are fasting and so that there wouldn't be much of a line. I had a mutton biryani and a yogurt drink. Delicious. The bryani lasted 2 meals. Caution, don't go if you mind having bits of bone in your meat. This was my first time experiencing the Deccan Grill. I was in town for one day, and found myself craving Indian/Pakistani. I ordered the butter chicken to go. It came with a healthy portion of rice, but I wish they were that generous with the chicken. The flavors were excellent. The atmosphere in the restaurant was dead so I was happy with my choice to go with carry out. However, when I got to my hotel I discovered they didn't provide me with any plastic wear.
