Great Indian food options and quick service. Hyderabad Biriyani and chicken korma tasted authentic and amazing

Recently visited Deccan Grill after hearing some good reviews. The place has a huge dining space and is completely self-serve, you pick up your own plates, spoons, water, etc. We ordered: * Hyderabadi Mutton Biryani - $18.99 * Hyderabadi Chicken Biryani - $14.99 * Chicken 65 - $12.99 The mutton biryani was good with well-cooked, tender pieces. The chicken biryani, however, was very light and lacked flavor, almost no masala at all. The Chicken 65 was okay, but the excess food coloring was a turn-off. Lo CC aged in the prime area and ambience is okayish. Bit difficult to get seat when it's crowded. Self service and order has to be place prior before seating. Biriyani tastes like authentic Hyderabadi style with all flavours infused in their mutton and rice. No spice level determined. Pieces were cooked soft and tender. The best biryani in DFW. I had the Chicken Biryani and it is amazing. It has the true hydrabadi taste. The service is good, it can be better. The plate of Chicken biryani is perfect for two or three people. I also tried their chicken sheek kabab roll and it was excellent. For dessert I had kadu ke kheer, it was amazing and tasted out of this world. I finished off my lunch with a cup of chai. I thought it was good. I have eaten at this restaurant a few times and the biryani is always consistent. They also make excellent rumali roti, not many restaurants serve that in the United States. The bread is awesome. The ambiance is ok, and I believe they're working on it. There are other branches in frisco and Plano and they are horrible. The food is to spicy. If you can make the trip to Irving do it. read more

Ordered Mutton and chicken dum biryani. Mutton biryani taste was good but the chicken in chicken dum was undercooked. And the worst is the service these guys providing here is ridiculously worst. We live in mckinney area and when we went to dfw airport to dropoff parents, we ordered dinner to go here. Ordered food at 7.30pm and we went to this place around 9.30pm, but the idiots at work missed the order though it was in the system. We had a baby and these idiots made us wait for 30+ mins. Finnalt we made home by 10.45pm. Guess what, some idiots who run business dnt care about their customers or customer experience. They just need money. This one is one of those. Finally I found one place to strike off from visiting again in irving area. Very irresponsible, unaccountable idiots. read more

Ordered lunch for my team around 10:19am for a pickup at 12:30pm. I ordered ahead because we have 30min for our lunch and it already takes us 6min to drive over there. I showed up at 12:22 and let them know I was here and to my surprise they didn't check their order system to see if any orders had came in. No apology and was just told to wait 10min. As soon as I walked about that when we got the email and text saying my order was confirmed. So I knew it was a restaurant issue and not that they didn't get notified. They just didn't check. After waiting almost 20min the food was finally ready. We ordered 2 - chicken tikka masala and 2 - chicken curry and garlic naan. The garlic naan was burnt. The chicken curry was horrible pieces of meat and none of it came with rice??? I paid about $72 for all of this and it was just horrible. Would never go back! read more

Usually the food is good. I was disappointed last night, I ordered food for $126. For 2 family Hyderabadi biryanis 1 mutton and 1 chicken, 2 dhal Tadka and 1 chicken 65. When we got home, they forgot to add the chicken 65 and the family mutton biryani had 3 pieces of bone with hardly any meat on it. The family chicken biryani too had very little chicken. I went to pick up the chicken 65 today and asked to speak to the manager but Fatima the server, told me that the manager had just sat down to eat with his family and that he will call me later. She didn't even attempt to tell him that I was not happy with my order. Needless to say I'm not very happy. read more

The food is usually really good but today it was off. The Mutton Briyani was bland and the rice was undercooked. The chicken Briyani was the same but they only gave use 4 pieces of chicken in the whole plate. But the worst part was the service. We told them about the chicken Briyani and the manager said he agreed it looked off and told us he would give us more chicken in the plate. He took our plate into the kitchen and we waited for him to come out for almost 30 minutes and when we asked the person at the counter where our food was she said she had no idea and told us the manager had left. Bro took out plate we paid for and never brought it back smh. The service was very poor and VERY SLOW. And my uncle is a regular here and never experienced this type of service or food quality. A dive of a restaurant that offers exceptional indian cuisine. The current construction does no justice for creating an inviting environment. Walking in isnt any better. There's this large, awkward space in the layout that feels like they have more space than needed. The menu on the billboard behind the cashier has no prices, so dont be afraid to ask. Sometimes they give you your appetizer right away. Other times, they give it to you once they have some made. Their samosas are crispy, flaky, and have a nice ration to bread and filling. I widh I could have some tamirand sauce, but it was still good without it. Their chicken tikka masala was probably the most tomato soup tasting masala I have tried. Its heavy on the cream, yet has a distinct tomato taste. After a while, the spice level kicks in, and it becomes a pleasureable pain. It wasnt bad, but it wasnt what I was expecting. I know my friends think its the best, but not for me. Their mutton biryani was fantastic. Some bits are soft and some bits are a little crunchy, which I though was awesome. The fried onions were a nice touch, but I wish they added more. They use a mixture of rices, yet spice it with a wonderful micture of flavors. It was a bit oily but not too oily. The mutton was tender and had a good gamey flavor. I will need to try here again though, especially for another one of their curries. This aint the kind of place to bring business clients or a first date. This is about getting down and dirty with some good ass Indian food. read more

We came here the other day for a quick lunch on the way to the airport. It was definitely a great option for a quick lunch. The owner was extremely helpful and did a great job recommending different things to us. One thing that I do have to say is that all of the non-vegetarian food was amazing. However, they vegetarian food was just a bit disappointing. It seemed to be slathered in oil and just not very palatable. The food wasn't exceptionally spicy and it is also great for take-out. All in all, decent spot for a quick lunch, but I would definitely caution vegetarians from coming here. read more
