The sauce was very flavorful, and although I ordered medium spice, I probably could have handled hot. The naan is thinner rather than fluffy, but still really good. It seems to me like a tactic for cutting down portions, because if I asked for spicy, and I always get it one way, why suddenly add water ? Without me even complaining first that it is too spicy? For starters, my friends and I ordered vege pakora and Tandoori Paneer Tikka and they were some of my favorites I've ever tried in Dallas. The sauce that the tandoori dish comes with is so delicious I had some extra on the side. For main dish, we ordered the Paneer Tikka Masala and the Kofta Lajawab; both so flavorful. The spices weren't too hot for the tikka masala which I enjoy, but they still brought out a rich blend of ingredients in combination with the garlic naan we ordered as well. We were greeted by the hostess and there was no wait for a table. For apps we ordered the Tandoori Paneer Tikka and the Vegetable Pakora. I arrived at the restaurant around noon on a Saturday. There were about three other groups of people eating at that time. I was greeted by a hostess. She went and prepared my table quickly and then walked me to it. I spoke with a waitress (maybe manager) and she told me that the restaurant has food from Northern India. Naan is pretty good as well. Service- as they have grown popular their service has gone down hill. They are not accommodating and often get into quarrels with the customers. They are the only indian restaurant that charges their customers for lemon and onions, this is bizarre. I have seen them bring out the curry way earlier than the naan and not help the customers out when the curry is cold since the naan/roti came out so late. Hands down some of the best Indian we've ever had. This Punjabi establishment is one of our favorites. The strip has seen better days, but that doesn't stop this place getting packed. The staff were very helpful and friendly. We had the chicken tandoori- juicy on the bone pieces seasoned to perfection that came out sizzling. The lamb vindaloo and butter chicken. We recently came back to this Indian/Punjabi restaurant after COVID 19. We had been prior when they had their buffet. The food was actually tastier since it was made to order. We started with the Samosa and Chicken Tikka. Both were very tasty. I did not realize the difference between the Chicken Tikka and Tandoori Chicken was that the Tikka was boneless and Tandoori had bone in it. We then had Rumali Roti along with the Aloo Paratha. This was accompanied with Chicken Biryani, Mixed Vegetables, and Goat Curry. For desert we had Carrot Gajrela (Sweet Carrot Dish with butter and sugar). All of it was very tasty. The food resonates the best in have had and the Smoky baingan, saag paneer, garlic naan, missi roti, rumali roti, kofta curry and lamb biryani are our favorites. Daal makhani and chicken tikka masala are a staple but bring joy to kids and adults both. For one of my jain friend we order Bhindi Masaledar with Panjratni daal and it tastes amazing. In all Indian restaurants everywhere forever when you order Mughlai/punjabi food, onions, come on the side, standard, if the customer requests it. in 40 years of my life, nobody has ever asked me to place an order for it. and I have lived across this country and I've ordered thousands of dollars of Indian food over the years . A friend told me about this place, I am happy it was suggested. We went on a Friday night, so it was a bit busy, but the atmosphere was really enjoyable and very comfortable. Prior to placing our order, we were told the kitchen was a bit behind, but the wait was actually satisfactory. I had the fish curry (mild), and a regular naan. The mild curry was a bit spicy, but did not take away from the overall deliciousness of the meal. The meal was so dang good, and plentiful. Honestly my favorite Indian restaurant in Dallas!!! It's my friends and I's go-to place when we crave Indian food which is pretty often. My favorite dish is the lamb korma. Korma is my absolute favorite Indian dish but it can be hard to find good korma. Urban Tadka's korma is the perfect balance of creamy, nutty, spicy, and sweet. Okay, so where do I start? I went there with a big party of us tonight. It was 10 people in total, 3 couples with kids. I will start off by saying we got to the restaurant super late and with a big party we felt rushed a little. I understand that we were late, but if time was a concern then we shouldn't have been seated. Anyhow, the food and service was overall fairly decent. The popodoms tasted bad, burnt and with a weird taste. You can't blame the restaurant for them as they are typically purchased in. The other food that were ordered were as follows and all the dishes were extremely tasty. 1) butter chicken 2) saag paneer 3) malai Kofta 4) basket of naan 5) rice, salad and Raita Oh I forgot the Seekh kebab. The mains were super tasty and I feel they were probably some of the best North Indian tasting food I have eaten. However, the seekh kebabs were dry. The reason for this is the restaurant uses ground chicken l, I feel that all restaurants should use a combination of lamb and chicken as this will help the meat retain a lot more moisture. Urban Tadka primarily serves up Punjabi staples, but they also do have a bunch of Pan-Indian offerings. I've been in their establishment for buffets, when the world was (just a wee, wee bit) better than it is at present, but this time it was good old delivery. For appetizers, it was the spicy shrimp. Lots of spice battered and fried plump and juicy shrimp served with a mint dipping sauce. By spicy, it doesn't come with a lot of heat (I don't have much of a heat tolerance), but has a complex spice blend of flavors. The shrimp itself was cooked to perfection and not rubbery in the slightest. Great start to the meal. Lachcha paratha was great, it's a flakier, even sort of tiered version of a traditional Indian flatbread, which takes more time to make and lots of practise. It had a crisp exterior and a chewy middle - great bread. This went well with the Lamb Vindaloo, which is a rendition of a dish from a totally different region of India (Goa in particular), but I like to be naughty and cross borders. Fusion is the conception of cultural cohesion (I like alliteration too). The lamb was moist and succulent. If you like your meat lean, this may not be the dish for you, because it came with lots of fat. Fat = Flavor. The gravy itself was not very hot (Again, my tolerance is low, so don't worry if yours is either) and was rich and full of flavor. The tadka daal (yellow lentils) was robust and had a depth of flavor. The tangy flavor that came with the tomatoes, and the brightness that comes with cilantro, made it perfect to pair with breads or rice, whatever you may prefer. Punjabi restaurants in my experience always do their lentils right. Ended the meal with a carrot dessert, called gajar ka halwa, which in this case was not too sweet, (think of shaved carrots in a pudding format, included with nuts/fruit for flavor and texture). Well nice North Indian restaurant you wish for. After so ling we have authentic north india flavours in almost all dishes we ordered especially Sarso ka Saag and makke ki roti. Honestly I am not a big fan of the sarso is saag but I really lived their sarso is saag with white ghee on it. It elevated the flavours and aroma. Next to chicken tikka which of our surprise was a sizzled. Chicken was little tight and chewy but still we loved it. Kash mere chicken curry was but we were really disappointed by rumali roti and Daal makhni taste and flavours. Rulami roti is supposed to be made from all purpose flour but they made it from wheat flour. Lastly the ambience was okay and but little suffocating and to their service, they need to improve the same.
