Stopped on our way through to Duluth. We were able to bring our dog on the patio while we had breakfast. The menu had such a large variety of options (it smelled too good to wait to eat) Food was incredible I got an omelet with such fresh veggies & my husband got the chicken fried steak! The patio had little sculptures and artwork all over in addition to the charming little water feature. Service was incredible & so attentive. Also look at the cutest menu cover Adding to the list to come back!

Lots of good food for the money. Nice interior, very lovely patio. One of us had the vegy omlette, which was quite good. The other had huevos rancheros. Good but not great. Day by Day has been here for decades because it serves good basic food, has reasonable prices and has pleasant, friendly service.

Come to this place for the ambiance. The back patio is an oasis and a perfect spot for a brunch with friends or a date. The inside back room feels like sitting in a library. The space is really cozy. This is a great place for a slow meal and if you don't want to be bothered by servers. The paying situation was a bit confusing because we didn't have a consistent server and the people up front were busy in a conversation together when we went to try and settle up. The food was diner food. The hash browns were nice and crispy. Most of the dishes need a bit of salt added, but it was a very Midwestern Mom type meal. It's very unassuming from the outside. Parking is street parking.

Stumbled upon this restaurant while looking for a breakfast place and we are so happy we did! Genie did such a great job serving and was extremely friendly. For breakfast, I had an omelet with the wild rice toast and it was awesome. I had never had wild rice bread and I am happy that I was able to try it out!

My fave restaurant in St. Paul 100%! I have been coming here since I was a kid and it doesn't change much over the years. The food is always reliable, and the vibe is always cozy. The patio is dog friendly. Good strong coffee!

I enjoyed the hash brown scramble.

Chef note to kitchen staff: clean your knife and cutting board before you cut fresh fruit. The cantaloupe tasted like onions.

Such a wide variety of options available in the menu for breakfast and lunch, the perfect place for picky eaters because they seriously have everything. The outdoor patio area is one of the cutest patios in the twin cities with a quirky, homey vibe (: Servers were amazing, friendly and attentive. Definitely one of my favorite brunch spots

From the hostess who graciously held the doors open for us in the 95° heat to our incredible server, David, everything was outstanding. We started with cocktails. I had what may have been the best bourbon Old Fashioned I've ever tasted, and my wife enjoyed a wonderfully refreshing cocktail (whose name I, unfortunately, can't remember). We began our meal with the roasted Brussels sprouts. Normally, I'm not much of a Brussels sprouts fan, but I happily cleaned the plate. My wife and I shared the 12-ounce filet mignon, cooked medium rare, and it was absolute perfection. Chef's kiss. David recommended a bottle of wine to pair with our steak. It wasn't inexpensive, but it was worth every penny. But wait... there's more. As incredible as that wine was with the filet, it somehow paired even better (yes, I know that sounds impossible) with the slice of heaven they call chocolate cake. I'm sure it has a much fancier name on the menu, but "slice of heaven" seems more accurate. If you've read my other reviews, you know I have a tendency toward hyperbole. If there were ever a time to lean into it, this is it. THIS MEAL WAS FANTASTIC. THE AMBIANCE WAS PERFECT. THE FOOD WAS EXCEPTIONAL. AND THE COMPANY WAS DIVINE. We will absolutely be back--and when we do, we'll be asking for a table in David's section. (He works Tuesday through Friday.)

I started with the tequila and mezcal Old Fashioned, and it was fantastic. It was well-balanced, beautifully presented, and garnished perfectly. The food was equally impressive. The wings were delicious--crispy, well-seasoned, and cooked perfectly. My only small note would be that the celery was a little limp. The Caesar salad has officially been added to my regular rotation. The jammy egg was cooked perfectly with a rich, yolky center that was still easy to slice. The Parmesan crisps were thoughtfully sized, adding great texture without being so large they scraped the roof of your mouth. The salad was evenly dressed, making every bite flavorful. Overall, excellent food, outstanding cocktails, and warm, attentive service. I'll definitely be back.

It was such a thoughtful, personal touch that made the celebration even more special. The food was outstanding. We ordered a little bit of everything, and every dish was delicious, but a few really stood out. The oysters on the half shell were incredibly fresh. The slow roasted prime rib with au jus and creamy horseradish was tender, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. My favorite was the famous Smothered Ribeye, served over crispy hash browns and topped with sautéed mushrooms, onions, grilled asparagus, and béarnaise sauce. The portion was huge, and I was happy to have leftovers the next day! From the exceptional service to the memorable dining experience and amazing food, Jax Café exceeded our expectations. It was a TEAM effort and it showed. Service was outstanding. My wife ordered the Salmon Sofia. Not sure what that is exactly and I don't care. It's salmon. To me, it's gonna taste bad no matter how great you prepare it but she said she loved it and would definitely get it again. I had the Italian Pasta if I remember correctly. Slightly spicy cajun pasta with sausage, chicken, shrimp, peppers and onions. It was amazing! There was quite a bit of it in the bowl. My wife says, "Wow, that's a lot. You'll have some to take home!" But I'm no quitter. If the food is good, i'm finishing it. And i'm happy to report that i did finish it. It was really good. I did not however get to try the mountain sized carrot cake. I really wanted some of that but I was too full. Oh, the bread. The website is robust allowing guests to make reservations in advance along with ordering takeout. Dining in, expect a darker atmosphere due to the supper club vibe. Personally, I like sitting outside in the summer months. The front patio is lovely and it's fun to see the hustle and movement of West 7th. There's also some magnificent hanging flower baskets too. I made a 6:45 pm reservation for a Tuesday and was able to adjust my indoor spot to an outdoor one when I arrived. The service is top notch as staff caters to the customers. I started off with a NA blackberry mojito along with the spinach and artichoke dip which was served with mini toast slices and super fresh and creamy. It was delicious.
