What a WONDERFUL place! Located on 7th Street in St. Paul, you will find this longtime breakfast stalwart, slinging plates to customers for over 50 years. If I lived closer, I'd totally hit this establishment up once a week! Walking in, you will encounter what was an older building that was at one point a manufacturing plant.? I really appreciated the exposed brick and plumbing by the ceiling. The walls are adorned with an eclectic array of trinkets and tchotchkes, which provide a visual distraction while one anxiously awaits their meal. Honestly, the whole vibe here is so warm and casual, I could really hang out here for a couple of hours. The menu is wide and varied. Everything is made to order and from scratch. Our party of 4 each ordered something unique. Two things that stood out to me were our breakfasts. The eggs, served sunny-side up, were perfect. The hash browns had the perfect amount of crisp. Their sausage gravy is almost as good as mine. The bacon wasn't a sloppy piece of pork belly that looked like a cut flower that wilted in the sun after a few hours. Everything was cooked just right. I do want to mention our server (Gabby?); she was so positive and attentive. I really appreciated her efforts. I am very much coming back here again...I strongly encourage you to do so as well.

Stopped on our way through to Duluth. We were able to bring our dog on the patio while we had breakfast. The menu had such a large variety of options (it smelled too good to wait to eat) Food was incredible I got an omelet with such fresh veggies & my husband got the chicken fried steak! The patio had little sculptures and artwork all over in addition to the charming little water feature. Service was incredible & so attentive. Also look at the cutest menu cover Adding to the list to come back!

Lots of good food for the money. Nice interior, very lovely patio. One of us had the vegy omlette, which was quite good. The other had huevos rancheros. Good but not great. Day by Day has been here for decades because it serves good basic food, has reasonable prices and has pleasant, friendly service.

Come to this place for the ambiance. The back patio is an oasis and a perfect spot for a brunch with friends or a date. The inside back room feels like sitting in a library. The space is really cozy. This is a great place for a slow meal and if you don't want to be bothered by servers. The paying situation was a bit confusing because we didn't have a consistent server and the people up front were busy in a conversation together when we went to try and settle up. The food was diner food. The hash browns were nice and crispy. Most of the dishes need a bit of salt added, but it was a very Midwestern Mom type meal. It's very unassuming from the outside. Parking is street parking.

Stumbled upon this restaurant while looking for a breakfast place and we are so happy we did! Genie did such a great job serving and was extremely friendly. For breakfast, I had an omelet with the wild rice toast and it was awesome. I had never had wild rice bread and I am happy that I was able to try it out!

My fave restaurant in St. Paul 100%! I have been coming here since I was a kid and it doesn't change much over the years. The food is always reliable, and the vibe is always cozy. The patio is dog friendly. Good strong coffee!

I enjoyed the hash brown scramble.

Chef note to kitchen staff: clean your knife and cutting board before you cut fresh fruit. The cantaloupe tasted like onions.

Such a wide variety of options available in the menu for breakfast and lunch, the perfect place for picky eaters because they seriously have everything. The outdoor patio area is one of the cutest patios in the twin cities with a quirky, homey vibe (: Servers were amazing, friendly and attentive. Definitely one of my favorite brunch spots

    look at this gorgeous ludacris!

Always great food! I love their quiche of the day. Open, louder environment, but the servers are very good.

The food was amazing, hospitality was cozy, atmosphere was relaxing to be in. Their menu has much more we will need to return to try. They have an additional location in Minneapolis and a spot at the MN State Fair every year! I'm most eager to get back here to try breakfast soon! Brunch / breakfast is my love language. This place was perfect for the dinner atmosphere we needed on a cold MN evening. It would also be a great pick for date night. The things we tried and you should too: Chicken Wild Rice Soup (10/10) Buttermilk Chicken Sandwich (with the Maple Chipotle Glaze) Almond Encrusted Walleye Redemption Burger their fries were also a bit hit at our table Basically we loved this place and can't wait to try more items from them For more awesome food spots check out the account mallorymademetryitmn on Instagram!

It's much quieter around then which was nice because in the evenings, it can get very loud which makes it hard to have a conversation. I enjoyed a pistachio latte, my partner a mimosa. We each got our own main - him a burrito, myself a breakfast bowl (both delicious) - and split a corn pancake. We had plenty of leftovers to bring home. The selection is better at the Minneapolis location, but the St. Paul location has its own charm and still plenty of options for people who are vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free. There's something here for everyone.

First of all we found this place on Yelp and landed on it because of the high reviews and how close it was to our airbnb. I was a bit worried about a wait as it looked popular but with two people we were able to get in pretty quick (less than 5 min wait) on a Sunday morning. It was packed though, so there might be a wait. Space is at a premium in this building and despite being a bit crammed in it was still a great experience overall. Honestly everything was wonderful. The server: A+, ambiance: great, food: holy hell it was delicious. I had some sort of benedict that came on cornbread and was paired with some incredible hashbrowns. Chef's kiss. I also ordered a specialty mocha for fun and it also did not disappoint. This place is a slam dunk for breakfast. If you live in the twin cities and you haven't eaten here yet what are you doing!?

I have seen people argue with the owner. It's a small place and he values his staff so much that he will not opt for income over his staff's mental health or stress level. I admire that so much.
