I have been going to Davidson's since the early 70's and their food has always been consistant and a great place to go for sandwiches. However tonight will be our last. We ordered the baked ham and cheese sandwiches. They came on white bread ( supposed to be rye) so we complained and they did them over. The sandwich is usually piled high with ham and there were two very thin slices on our sandwiches! The other problem was the waitress never asked us if we wanted beverages.....just took our sandwich order and left. We left and went somewhere else for dessert. Very disappointed! read more

If you're thinking of venturing into Davidson's Casual Dining in Tigard,Oregon, and ordering something relatively simple and straightforward, like chicken strips (how can it miss?), hear this: It was the foulest thing I've tasted in some years, eliciting from my dining companions a string of invective that can't be printed on a public web page.It wasn't just that there was hair in the food and also the ranch used for dipping,or the fact that we got to listen to the manager tell an underage waitress in training (it was a very in depth and loud conversation) that the waitresses do not get breaks since their "downtime" was considered breaks even though they would have to keep doing side work during that time and telling the waitress the state law doesn't apply they go by what the boss says, but the final straw was when the manager snatched the Credit Card from my hand and accused me of lying about the hair which there were three waiters by our table the whole time (it was a very small room) who witnessed the whole thing not to mention the hair looked nothing like mine.Servers give you the feeling that you work for them, and your job is to feel lucky to receive whatever you get.To say this experience was underwhelming would be putting it mildly. read more

I went into Davidson's a coupla weeks ago to use a gift certificate I'd received. I noticed it was busy as there was a couple sitting to my right and a coupla gentlemen standing to my left. I walked in and made eye contact with the hostess (Dawn or something like that.) Apparently she thought I was going to complain about the wait, but I was only going to suggest she help the folks waiting to my left first... BUT, she didn't wait for me to speak and immediately snapped at me: "I KNOW YOU'RE WAITING! HE'S WAITING, SHE'S WAITING, THEY'RE WAITING, WE'RE BUSY AS YOU CAN SEE!" I stood there and raised my eyebrows and said "Whoa, really?" She was running around like a chicken with her head cut off. I thought to myself, "why are you working here if you can't handle the pressure?" She came back and gave a halfway apology after everyone was seated but it left a bad taste in my mouth. Everyone is allowed a bad day, but you don't take it out on customers. You smile and deal with it. These people pay your wages. The pie was good, the sandwich was okay and I doubt I'll go back. There are too many other good places to eat in the neighborhood. Sanchez or Wu's Open Kitchen. Hell, I'd rather have a sandwich from Safeway - they're NICE! read more

Our family loves this restaurant and usually can always rely on great service. Unfortunately this evening after a long day being at a hospital we decided to have late dinner at Davidson's. As soon as we were seated we were informed that we needed to make our decisions quick that the kitchen would be closing soon, 9 PM. The time was 8:30. So we all decided on the same dinner, chicken fried steak to make it easy on them. Once the dinner was served the staff immediately started gabbing like no one was there. Using profanity with out any regards to our family. I asked that they not use that language and was approached by our waitress and apologized for the young ladies behavior. I probably would have been cool with that, but while we were leaving the young lady who used the profanity said good bye to us in a very snotty voice! I don't think this is type of employee that this family restaurant wants as their hostess. Hope this is taken seriously. read more

We frequently enjoy the delicious homestyle cooking st Davidson's. There are a lot of things on the menu that we really enjoy and we have recently added their Mexican selections to some of our faves. My husband loves the burrito and their chicken tamale which is "homemade" has been added to my list of personal favorites. Who says you need to go to a Mexican restaurant to enjoy delicious Mexican food? Soups are all delicious and if you are looking for a good breakfast you have to try the Sweedish pancakes. I could continue but my best advice is no matter what meal you are looking for, you'll enjoy (breakfast, lunch or dinner) Davidson's in Tigard. We went for breakfast and the portion sizes were huge, but pretty standard and safe stuff. The we went for lunch. A retro kind of place for lunch bowls of chili, stew, clam chowder with corn bread. Very reasonable tasty and filling. The hot dogs are amazing, who would have thought? Service inconsistent. Seemed to be two types of service one for the regulars and then other people like me. Lots of variety here and fairly decent food. Needs major updating as it feels like a dreary Denny's. On our last visit, our waiter asked us very personal questions and was borderline rude. One drink item was forgotten by the hostess and there was NO ONE in there. We have been here several times. This late afternoon we went in, for a early dinner. I ordered the Yankee pot roast. The salad was fresh and good. The roast wasn't very good and not very hot. The vegetables were not cooked all the way and bland. The mashed potatoes were instant and the roll was stale. I waited for the waiter to come back so I could get him to heat it up and maybe get some more gravy to make it better. By the time he came back to check on us , everyone else were finished. He also forgot my grandson's drink. I explained to him I didn't want the food any longer and he said what was wrong with it. I explained the above. He brought the check and didn't remove the food. I went to the cashier /hostess and she got a snippy attitude with me when I explained what happened. She said "Did you eat the salad and the roll???" I said I ate the salad but not te roll. "Well I'm going to charge you for the salad!"I said that was fine. I asked for the email address so I could write the owner and she said she didn't know it, in a pissy tone. Her attitude and poor customer service skills were worse than the food. We will not be returning and will tell folks not to eat there. read more

We went here for lunch and just didn't have the best experience. We waited a long time for someone to ask us what we wanted and the. When the food came, my husbands while plate of food was cold and rubbery and the eggs and hash browns had zero seasoning on them. When we mentioned it to the girl that rang us out when we paid for meal, she just said "I'm sorry". The least she could have done is said that she will inform the kitchen, just to make us feel heard. It's on a home made gram cracker crust and large enough that you can save some for later. They also had very good burgers. I have seen the negative reviews and I couldn't disagree more, I have been countless times and have always been pleased with the food and the service . This is a homey CASUAL place that serves good food at a great price, it is not fine dining and does not say that it is. Went here on a whim, my dad. Looks like you classic diner, and is. Food was sub par. I ordered a Denver omelet with a biscuit and hash browns. The biscuit turned out to be an old hamburger bun while the hash browns were room temperature in the middle. Luckily the omelet was cooked thoroughly and hot. Davidsons is a very clean well kept restaurant were you can chill and eat a really good meal with awesome desserts and have it be inexpensive, I really enjoy going their and getting a good burger but their are what seems like endless choices of breakfast lunch/dinner and amazing desserts. This is the worst restaurant I've been to in a long time. I walked in with my grandson and requested a booth. The woman asked me to sit by the cash register because she had other people. There were no other people waiting except a waitress who was coming to have her paycheck error taken care of. There were hardly anyone in the restaurant and it took forever for the waitress to take our order. We ordered and the waitress brought the bill at the same time she brought the food. Halfway through the meal I found a card on the table saying that "children eat free Monday through Friday" (this was a Friday) from the child's menu with a full meal of an adult. My grandson was never offered a child's menu. The waitress never came back to offer me more coffee with my breakfast. They charge me $2.95 for a little foam cup of half juice and half water for my grandson. The customer service is nonexistent in that restaurant. I would never go back there again. read more

The only good thing about Davidson's is the root beer. Surprising that it's owned by the same folks who own Tom's Country Kitchen in Beaverton, because the difference between the two establishments is dramatic. Davidson's food is just BAD and there's no other way to put it. I don't know who the people are that gave this place such high reviews (maybe the staff). After giving them another try for breakfast just recently(because Elmer's was too long to wait), I was reminded why I stopped eating there. The spinach and Swiss omlette I ordered actually had mozerella, rather than Swiss cheese ( if you thought no one would notice, think again...mozerella is not a melting cheese, so it was just hard and chewy), making my omlette barely edible. Toast was cold and dry (do you make up 200 slices in advance and then let them sit under a heat lamp until an unsuspecting customer orders toast?). My friend's omlette with country gravy was cold and the gravy was flavorless. In fact, nothing had ANY flavor at all. I realize this place caters to the senior crowd, but as a senior myself, I beg you people to PUT SOME SEASONING IN YOUR FOOD. The coffee also had no flavor ( like hot, brown water). The side of pancakes I ordered was okay, but would have been better if the butter wasn't rock hard and of sufficient quantity (about 2 teaspoons for 3 cakes...why skimp on butter--an essential for pancakes?). The other issue is that the place seems very poorly managed. There is not an iota of efficiency, as the staff are all bumping into each other. People trying to check out are crowded out by those waiting to be seated. A host was running around, but not focused on priorities (I.e., seating people, making sure tables are cleared, etc). Tables are way too close together and it's difficult to even get up from your chair, without knocking over someone.The fact that it's always busy there is not so much a testament to the quality of the food as the location. If someone put a decent restaurant across the street, I doubt whether that Davidson's would stay in business. read more

My name is Brian N. We just visited this restaurant today at ~10:30am 8/26/2012. My wife and I walked in the door while another couple was paying their bill. After they had finished paying the bill I walked up to the counter ( I was right behind the couple, I gave no indication I knew them, I didn't speak to them although they did seem like a fun couple to know) the cashier turned around and walked away. Thinking that she didn't see me, I stood at the counter (with my arms on the counter trying to get her attention) for another 5 minutes. An elderly lady came with her bill in hand so I let her step in front of me to pay her bill. At that point another lady who just walked in the door stepped in front of me and the cashier asked her how many, she said two, I stepped up and the cashier walked away. At that point, I turned to my wife and asked her if she wanted to leave, she said yes and we left. I admit, I'm not good looking, I'm an old, short dumpy Filipino man with long hair. I'm also an engineer for a respectable local company. Granted, this may have been an accident ( a very poor excuse), they may have been too busy to talk to ugly, short, dumpy Filipino men, this may not have been racial, gender or cosmetic discrimination but when we left, I hadn't felt so embarrassed and frustrated since I had stopped at a country store in Oklahoma about 22 years ago. read more
