Absolutely my favorite spot! Their prices and food are so good, the burgers they serve aren't the typical grease-filled, dripping wet messes that a lot of places tend to serve up. Every time I go in the staff are friendly and always willing to answer questions for dietary needs. The shop itself is cozy, but a bit small. The seating outside is really nice during the cooler times, and they almost always have an interesting movie playing on the TVs inside while you wait for you food (or eat it there). The Food here was astounding! It was just perfectly cooked with a creamy layer before the crunch of the crispy chicken. With fresh REAL ingredients these sandwiches + burgers are/were delicious!! I'm giving it a two because this place is so inconsistent and it seems to be getting worse. We won't come for a year because the last experience was just OK, and then it's good again so we show up again and it's bad. The place just smells like old grease. After we got home, I had to take a shower and change my clothes because we smell like old grease. We were there for 20 minutes and all of our clothes reek. The floor is slippery like it never gets cleaned. If you look around the place is not clean nor tidy. When it comes to food safety, details matter, and this restaurant never cleans the corners. We had to explain ourselves many times until the person taking an order got it right. When we got our order, it still wasn't correct. Walk back up to the counter to ask if bacon had been added to one of the burgers and he looked at me confused and just said "no". We then heard him talk to the Cook and he said "bacon added". They did make it right, but it was halfway through our meal. I have a feeling if the Cook and the guy back there bothering him weren't talking so much they would've gotten the order right. We ordered gluten-free tots because of allergy. I think the oil is super old. It tasted bad. I don't know, it's offputting to see a dirty restaurant, and the staff just standing around talking or looking at their phones. My son and I stopped by Joes Burger. I was happy to find that they sell hotdog's. I ordered a chili cheese dog with fries. The hotdog and chili had good flavor, that chili was hearty. I cannot leave Portland without my annual stop at Joe's Burgers! We ate the onion rings before we could snap a pic but trust me they are a nice addition to the most delicious burgers! I got the Swiss Mushroom burger, BF got the Patty Melt and BF's sis got the Cowboy Joe! If it was after 5pm I'd pair it with a beer (yes that's an option!!)! Joe's is situated in a eye-pleasing shopping center surrounded by beautifully mature trees. My daughter opted for the fish sandwich with chili cheese fries. The breaded fish filet was crunchy and big enough to where she wasn't biting just bread. The chili was so flavorful I went back for multiple bites. My hubz and I ordered the classic double cheeseburger with a side of fries and onion rings. The onion rings were crunchy yet without fear of breaking a tooth. The stars of our lunch were the burgers. WOW. Had the taste of smashed burgers without the smash with a hint of hamburgers you grill at home. Price was super reasonable. We sat outside sandwiched between Joe's other business, Choza. Ever sense Malone's closed down the Murray Hill center has been missing a good place to eat and drink. Joe's is right next to Hapa Asian Fusion. Which is a great place to eat and wonderfully nice. Joe's just goes one step beyond Hapa in that they offer a limited selection of beer, wine and spirits. They also have a large garage glass door the will be open in good weather. The restaurant is brand new, clean, nicely staffed with happy people. I had a double chili burger, chili fry's and an IPA. The craft beer is 6 bucks while domestic is 5. The chili fry's are good but still lackluster on both the fry and chili. The burger is small even for a double. Other craft burger places a double would fill me up. The place is nice, food is ok, drinks are available. I think they will capture a variety of customers from families to neighbors coming out for a beer. And the occasional cyclingyelper. Fingers crossed - and she has never eaten at any of their locations so here is to hoping they ARE as good as I remember and the one now right by me does me proud. Boy were they fast - I mean, food joints are a lot less traveled these days but STILL... they were super fast and made everything. I ordered a Swiss mushroom burger with sweet potato fries and a chocolate shake for my freezer. DEEEEEEELICIOUS! My friend was blown away and both of us practically licked the boxes. Also, I do love their packaging because I can compost or recycle all of it which is nice! And that shake the next day with a spoon was heaven! When trying a new burger joint, I always order the basic cheeseburger. I made mine a double. My theory is that anyone can cover up their flaws with all sorts of different toppings, but a basic burger... you're not afforded that luxury. So if you can't, execute the most basic burger, then you're not a great burger joint. When I got my burger, the patties were bit overcooked. And as some commenters pointed out, they were a bit on the small side. And the buns also seemed a bit dense. I was expecting a lighter more fluffy consistency. If you like dense buns, you may appreciate this place a bit more than I did. As for the taste.... Well, it wasn't bad and it wasn't good. It was just average. For what you pay, I'd expected more out of the burger. While the burger wasn't the greatest, I did like the onion rings that I ordered. They were tasty and perfectly cooked. And best of all, they were not greasy. But the portion was small given the $5.00 price tag. While the food may have been average, the staff was very warm and friendly. They are located in the Murrayhill Marketplace shopping center...with lots of parking around there. I'm not a fan of "novelty" burgers that have lots of oddball non traditional ingredients piled on them, so I was glad to see a "Joe's Classic Cheese Burger" on the menu and that's what I ordered. Well, the burger was OK, but it was UNremarkable. What I mean is that nothing about the burger really stood out in any way. I expected a slightly 'higher end' burger, but there was nothing notable. The burger was not thick and juicy, it didn't have a rich beefy flavor, the lettuce was not crispy, the slice of tomato was not nice and plump, and I didn't notice any grilled onions that were supposed to be in there (according to the menu). However, the workers there were really nice, and there's an adjoining covered outdoor seating area along with inside seating. We ordered for pickup via postmates. I got the text the order was ready and went to pick it up- the girls behind the counter said it was not ready. I showed them the confirmation from the app and they told me the postmates app is wrong. I asked why it was taking longer and she said "we're having a fundraiser tonight." Looked around and there were only two families in there. Finally, 20 minutes later they told me my order was ready- it was someone else's order.
