Full disclose: I came very close to marrying into this family but that's another story. Anyone who knows me knows that I don't blow sunshine up anyone's skirt so this is a 100% fair and accurate review of the food they serve. I've actually spent a lot of time in Philadelphia so I know what a Philly Cheese Steak sangwich is supposed to taste like. Purists will say that the Philly here isn't totally authentic and that would be true, however they serve up a mighty good sandwich all the same. There's maybe a dozen or so places in Philly where you can get "the real deal". Lots more places in Philly (and elsewhere) offer a "Philly cheese steak" sandwich but they, too, are hardly authentic. So let's put that to rest. I had what's known as the provy witout. No whiz, no peppers. Just meat and cheese. Prit-T-good! Ordered the whole sandwich, which was actually two sandwiches for ~ $12. Waaaay too much even for a big guy like me. The steak was a tasty cut, grilled to perfection with the cheese cooked right into the meat as it should be. No complaints at all. The roll was as authentic as you can expect considering how far away a Philly bakery is. Unless you feel like traveling 3,000 miles this sandwich ought to keep even the fussiest folks happy. On a side note, I don't know how these food trucks make any money anymore. What with the reduced hours due to this scamdemic nonsense... they were open at this location for two hours. I believe that this was their only gig for the day. They did have a steady flow of customers but still. At ~$12 a pop they aren't taking in a lot of dough. Then you have a couple of hours of prep and cleanup time (no revenue there), the cost of materials, fuel, licenses, fees, overhead, equipment depreciation and so on.... the owner plus one employee plus childcare so she can work the business...... it's a LOT of work and not a huge reward. For them it must be a labor of love because no one gets rich operating one of these trucks. I always try to support local businesses and this is definitely a local business worth coming to visit. read more

If you've ever found yourself thinking "where's the meat?" Or velveeta! Look no further than this Food truck wiz's steaks. These ladies sling some seriously delicious steak at reasonable prices too. Fries are all inclusive. My fries were graciously slathered in cheese wiz but were stolen by my significant other, much to my dismay. My job has random food carts that pop up on Fridays...and honestly I would not be mad if this was the only food cart that pops up ever again. The customer service was great the two ladies working the cart were very kind and fast. The steaks were fresh and seasoned very well, the sandwich was a nice size, and the roll was perfect! Yum! These sandwiches are excellent. The West Coast Phillyz truck parked outside my apartment building today near the south waterfront for a special event, and it was a huge hit. The neighborhood formed a line down the block. I hope they come back. We had the Classic and the Santa Barbara, and I would definitely order either one again. read more

I visited this truck when they were at the Verandas apartments on October 16th. I tried both the Classic Philly and the Humboldt Hottie and can recommend neither. I had to drive 10 minutes home and by the time I got home they were already lukewarm. I think it would be a great idea if this truck were to wrap their sandwiches in foil. I feel like every place I have gone that has served a cheese steak wraps their sandwich in foil to preserve the heat, and keep the cheese melted. Both sandwiches were served on very bland rolls that had no form to them. Typically when i think of a roll in a philly cheese steak it has a nice crisp crust with an airy inside. This roll was just plain as day bread. Usually a cheese steak roll has a nice sturdy crust to hold all that juicy meat and melting cheese, but this place doesn't need good sturdy rolls because the meat and cheese in the sandwich weren't even a substantial portion, so there's not much to hold up. According to westcoastphillyz.com: "Our phillyz are grilled in our unique and perfected blend of garlic butter and other secret spices." But I couldn't taste any garlic at all. The meat was extremely bland. The original having the cheese on top is a bad choice. It doesn't mix in with the meat at all and a ton of it spills over the sides. This leads to dirty fingers and less cheese on a philly cheesesteak. Onions are served in the sandwich in large chunks so you may take a bite and have a large onion trail you out of the sandwich; I typically prefer them chopped a bit more, but this is a minor gripe. The Humboldt Hottie was a huge disappointment. Their menu says it includes pepperjack, but my sandwich had zero cheese on it. That alone killed the sandwich for me. The first bite consisted of heat from the jalapenos, and that was it. No flavor from the meat, no cheese, no bueno. The sandwiches included fries, but I'm only mentioning them because they were included. They were fries. TL:DR: -subpar rolls -bland meat I do not recommend West Coast Phillyz read more

Great food! Personally had the Oregon Dip which was wonderful and had a lot of flavor. The truck stopped into our apartment complex for the day during the epidemic, and it was a much welcomed change. All in all a pretty mediocre steak sandwich. It was dry, luke warm and with the rediculous whiz drizzle all over the bun it was a huge mess to eat. Most of the cheese ended up on about 8 napkins instead of in my mouth. Looks cool and all but put the cheese IN the steak, not on top of the roll. I got the large size and it was most deffenatly not worth the $14 for the sandwich, can of soda and $1 tip. Felt ripped off and was still hungry. read more

Tried this for the first time and loved it! It was parked at our office park on Nimbus and Hall. I am trying to cut beef out of my diet and thought they might not have anything for me-- wrong! Had the Santa Barbara with chicken - delicious! They have great bread- artisan type rolls, nice chicken, and wonderfully caramelized/sauteed onions and peppers. They also had at least one vegetarian option. Just trying not to feel guilty about the fact that beef is their mainstay... I'll just try to master my own behavior! read more
