#12 Smocked Burger with a Lamb Burger pattie ($12.99)
    Ron R.

As the popularity of Foodlandia grows, I'm surprised no one has Yelped these guys yet. It's not often that I'm in a burger mood, but when I hear about a new burger joint opening up then I'm willing to give them a try. I've gone to about three other food trucks before trying these guys. But what hooked me was seeing "Chili Cheese Fries" on their Special white board. So for only $13.99, I went with the Smash Burger Deal with Chili Cheese Fries. Picked it up and stupidly did not take a pic. The carton was fully filled with the burger and fries. I brought it home, and the fries were still crispy! So that's a plus in my book! As for the smash burger itself, it was juicy. The bun was soft and was just cheesy meaty goodness! So good that I told myself, next time I'm trying the Lamb Burger. Second trip, I only ordered the #12 Smocked Burger with a lamb pattie for $13.99. No fries, but not a big deal. The burger was topped with cheese, turkey bacon, grilled onions, and special sauce. Now this I ate fresh on the spot, and enjoyed very much. My main goal was to try the lamb meat, and I gotta say it smelled lovely, not heavy, and it tasted fantastic! As for service, I didn't have much interaction from the guy at the register, but also no issue while ordering. I'll likely be back as I'm curious to try their mushroom swiss burger, breakfast burger, or their fried chicken burger. Give them a try, and let me know what you think!

bomb burger!! came here for lunch on a tuesday afternoon and was pleasantly surprised! not much of a wait. meat was cooked to perfection and the caramelized onions harmonized with the cheese perfectly. didn't know it came with a grilled jalapeño, but it was gooood. fries were airy but crunchy, I couldn't stop eating them! not sure whether the burger or the fries stole the show, but this is definitely one of the best burger spots in hillsboro!

Burger was nothing special. The sauce they put on the burger and as dipping for the fries is terrible. I'll go elsewhere next time.

THIS IS A MUST STOP!…read more It was recommended to me by a colleague, not knowing anywhere to go as it is my first time to Hillsboro... I pulled it up here on Yelp and it was Highly recommended.... So I did. Wow I am glad I did! I had a Fat Mario and added Sweet Potato Fries... way more food than I could eat! And I can eat! lol The flavors are off the hook! The sweet potato fries were fresh and perfectly done!! The ambiance is perfect, the service, excellent... Check it out! Fat Mario is a burger with onion ring, jalapeno, secret sauce... came with green salad, and pot stickers... oooh la la !! Fantastic!!

For 4 people with 4 burgers (comes with salad and 3 pot stickers) and 4 sodas -- it was just over $100. This seems like a lot for a "fast food" type restaurant. The food was good, not great. I got the jalapeño popper burger, I guess I misread as I thought the jalapeño and cream cheese was inside. It was not, there was a large bacon wrapped jalapeño not he top. Otherwise a plain burger. Miss opportunity I thought. The Skippy burger was good -- but some bacon and a spicy sriracha or something would make it better, and less sweet. Chicken burger was good. Don't remember the 4th burger (sorry). I also wish they offered a different green -- they only have arugula which I do not enjoy -- so the salad did nothing for me. Pot stickers were great! Would try again if ever in the area.

In general, the Portland metro area doesn't have burgers worth crowing about…read more The old timers will rave about Helvetia Tavern, Skyline, Roake's, Jim Dandy, Mike's Drive In, Fuller's, and Nob Hill burgers. These are various takes on Burger King's Whopper and it's difficult to prove otherwise. Canard's steamed slider? A chef'd up White Castle. Champs, Farmer and the Beast and Tulip Shop? Yes, every city has smash burgers now, congratulations. Wolf's Head? The issue with throwing pork into the mix is some days it's glorious and some days it's the driest burger you'll ever eat. Higgins?! Yes, dad, your $30 bacon cheeseburger was totally worth it and not at all a slightly upgraded McMenamins offering. But Five Stars? I'm genuinely stunned every time Grand Lodge has a show and this place isn't packed. Those who know treasure it, and those who lack the patience are missing out. There's enough commentary on the spartan interior and the counter-and-drink-cooler aesthetic, but the important detail is the note to customers to the right of the register: Your meal is going to take time. It's going to be perhaps 20 to 40 minutes. It will not come out before that time. If you are in a hurry, please go elsewhere. They say this as straightforwardly as they can: They would rather have the time to prepare your meal correctly and sell fewer burgers than churn out nonsense to more customers. Armed with that knowledge, I ordered a bulgogi cheeseburger, took my drink, and settled in to watch the traffic. On a weekday, my only companions were older couples who'd clearly been coming in for years. About 25 minutes later, the burger arrived on its char-toasted kaiser bun (a rarity out here). On the first bite, I encountered both flavor and texture I could only compare to a wagyu-based take on a Big Mac that I'd sampled at a Chicago culinary festival. The patty melted into a near pate, while the bulgogi blended with the cheese into a complementary umami flavor that chains like Umami Burger never quite achieved and local spots like Mr. Bento seem too focused on speed and volume to prepare correctly. I am absolutely late to the party here and realize that countless influencers, food critics, car clubs, and Western Washington County regulars have already made 5 Stars an overwhelming success. But that "best in Oregon" claim isn't just a tilted Yelp score or foodie hyperbole: It's a whole lot of time and effort paying off in a product worth the expense. 5 Star unquestionably makes the best burger in this state, but it's the care taken by the family behind it and the genuine love of the community surrounding it that separates it from the crowd. P.S. I can't believe the former owner of Piattino left a bad review. What would I rather do with my life: Make food and experiences that people remember months to years later and serve as the basis for comparison to every burger that comes next, or open the 30th reclaimed-barnwood restaurant in town with a forgettable take on the same pizza made by at least three other Portland spots?

YUUUMMMMMMM!!! I've…read morebeen on the hunt for a good smash burger, and I FINALLY found one when I least expected it! I was attending the Season of the Witch Marketplace, hosted by If the Broom Fits, when I was completely overcome by the aroma of charred deliciousness. Seriously, I didn't even realize I was hungry until I smelled it! The staff was incredibly friendly, and service was impressively fast! I believe they had a self-serve toppings bar set up specifically for the event to help keep things moving, which I thought was a really thoughtful touch. We took our burgers and fries home and absolutely gobbled them up! The Strike Sauce was BOSS, the fries were crispy AF (even after a 10-minute car ride home!), and the smash burger checked ALL the boxes. Perfectly smashed, full of flavor, and exactly what I'd been craving. What more could you ask for?! Definitely looking forward to getting my hands on another one!

I came across a smash burger taco... yes... you heard that...and they use corn tortillas and they're gluten free. So good. They tasted like a good cheeseburger with pickles, lettuce and sauce. Ordered fries too and got the regular... huge portion.. wonder what the larger size is ... I ordered delivery, but definitely plan on going back. Worth it.
