I've been driving by this place weekly and never stop to give it a go. Looks like another dime a dozen fast food strip mall food. Today was having the itch for a burger close to work and a buddy suggested this over Five as well as the Robin place. Popular place. Getting a table can be hard. You order at the counter, they give you. Buzzer or take your name. Lots of choices on the menu. Good portions for the cost. I ordered the Spicy Mama, chicken over rice with jalapeños and teriyaki sauce. The only hot spice in came from the jalapeño , which really did not do it for me. The chicken was cooked well, tender all white meat. My meal came with potstickers, which were nice and crispy. This seems so popular, I will need. The food is excellent, everything is prepared in house and fresh, at the order, so no half frozen or reheated patties. The salad is fresh and fries are crispy too. The pineapple on the vegetarian burger is a unique twist that elevates the whole flavor profile of the burger. Overall it was succulent, the roasted mushrooms adds umami and the side salad brings freshness. You can taste the freshness of vegetables used to make the burger. Mr. Bento Burger was such a great find on a whim! I'm staying in a hotel nearby and decided to walk around to find dinner, and I'm so glad I ended up here. I ordered the Angry Cow Burger (I love kimchi) and my boyfriend had the Walla Walla Burger--both were delicious and full of flavor. We went up to the front and asked if our food was ready or if the buzzer wasn't working because it was working for everyone else but apparently our food has just been sitting there for awhile now.... the burger was good but would've been better without it being extremely soggy from sitting in the to go container for who knows how long. A friend told us this was the best burger they'd ever had, so we had to try it. Unfortunately, it was completely underwhelming, especially for the price. I'd rather go to In-N-Out or even Shake Shack. I had the Skippy burger, and it was very average. The potstickers were bland and didn't taste house-made. The French fries were good, though--I'll give them that. Just make sure to opt for the regular fries, not the sweet potato ones. Honestly a 4.5 and hear me out. If you haven't been here yet, do yourself a favor next time you are craving a nice juicy burger with unconventional toppings and a side of crispy chicken potstickers and a refreshing spring salad with a tangy citrusy dressing to balance the richness. Yes, the burgers vary between $16-20 which is on the pricier side, but the quality is solid, everything is made-to-order, and the service was friendly and welcoming. We ordered the Angry Cow Burger (comes with kimchi, jalapeño, and fried egg) and Skippy Burger (peanut butter with onion rings) and a side of French fries. Everything after tip came to be around $50 - not a cheap lunch for 2 adults and a toddler but this was nice treat for us. Also since everything is made to order, expect a little wait, so I don't suggest this place if you are in a hurry - maybe try calling ahead if that's the case. While we were waiting for our food, the nice lady gave us a scribble pad with stamps for my toddler to play with and that was a much-appreciated touch as toddler parents! Our burgers were juicy, my toddler ate all my potsticker so it must have been yummy (dipped in the tempura sauce), and the side salad offered a fresh veggie break in between the decadent burger bites. The fries were hot and crispy and try to dip it In the potsticker sauce - trust me, it works. For me, the only thing keeping me from giving it the extra 1/2 star is the weird layout of the restaurant. The bathroom is in the back but you have to walk through the line of people waiting to order and maybe someone else trying to get a drink from the soda machine. We were searching for burger places in Hillsboro for our daughter and came across reviews for Mr Bento Burger. The pictures and reviews looked good so we decided to give it a try. It's walk up ordering so not table side service which is great. Small restaurant but good ventilation because it didn't smell like food. My burger was great, their bacon is delicious and I like that they put arugula on the burgers. The onion rings..... amazing. The sauce that comes with it has a mild heat (I'm probably a spice wimp though) but it's so good. We all really enjoyed our meals and will be back to try more. read more

All of them are good in their own, right. But for the price, I'll take Mr. Bento any day. Why? Where can you find a unique blend of homemade patties a fresh salad and three potstickers all for the price that the other burger joints will charge just for the burger itself? Very unique and flavorful burgers. We ordered a bacon cheeseburger and regular cheeseburger with fries and sweet potato fries. I'm not sure what they use for seasoning at Mr. Bento but it's really quite different from anywhere I've been...and very yummy. I'm generally partial to smash burgers, but really enjoyed these non-smashers. The dining area is small with a decent amount of seating but without feeling too overly tight...with the exception of the ordering spot. It was very tight there as the soda machine is right there too. They've also got some outdoor tables. Service was very friendly and the food tastes restaurant quality, not at all fast food. Mr. Bento is a great discovery! It is billed as a "gourmet" burger place, and it is very surprising in that the burgers come with salad and potstickers. Fries are available instead of salad and potstickers for a dollar upcharge. The burgers are all half-pounders, and are delicious. I opted for a bacon cheeseburger, and the bacon was lean, generously portioned, and perfectly crispy. The burger was FAR better than most I've ever had, with rare exception. The fries are also really great...perfectly crispy, flavorful, and delicious. Japanese bento items are also available, and I'll probably try some of those the next time. The only real issues are with the very tiny size of the restaurant, and the sort of backwards layout. The counter at which customers place their orders is at the very back of the restaurant, at the end of a very narrow space between the kitchen area and the wall. This makes customers entering sort of collide with those who have already ordered and are on their way back to the seating area. Service is very friendly and very prompt, but can sometimes be inaccurate. During my visit, my number was called, but my order wasn't at the counter. When I questioned, they said the order was one number lower than mine. They then called the number one lower than mine, and the customer sitting next to me picked up his order. I apologized to him saying, "I'm sorry, I'd swear I head them call 56 and not 55", and he said, "They did call 56". These are minor quibbles, though, and will definitely not prevent me from coming back, which I'm very much looking forward to doing. read more

Finally made it here and I must admit our experience lived up to the hype! Ordered on the phone when we were about 15 minutes out and food was just about ready when we arrived. We just had to wait for the fries and they were worth the wait! So crispy and delicious! Our burgers were cooked just right too! I must admit the 1/2 pound burgers are very filling but we both couldn't stop eating because they tasted so good! The salad and pot stickers were good too! This is one of our first thoughts when we think of getting burgers we got here for food for takeout and it only took about 15 minutes from ordering. The one thing about Mr. bento burger is the workers are always super Duper nice . Assured us to fries were finishing up and going to be fresh. Some changes since we last game is the angry bird is now called angry cow and does not include a fried egg . The fries were piping hot when we got them and the one thing I will say is when you're driving home make sure they're ventilated or the condensation make them soggy. We had to throw them back in the air fryer when we got home degree crisp them up, but they were super delicious right after. The burgers are cooked to a medium and super Duper moist and hold together well, which is an underrated quality for burgers . I had the Hawaiian and the pineapple was nice and plump with a nice layer of sauce around it and the burger was super juicy so everybody was full of flavor. You know a place is good when people keep coming right before closing. I thought we came late, but people were making orders within twenty minutes before. Yet the customer service was great. The nice cashier checked on me and was so sweet. I wish I could meet Mr. Bento to shake his hands and tell him thank you. Once a bastion for delicious burgers, I fear Mr Bento has lost his way. For example, today June 17, I paid $25 for a burger, fries, and a coke. The sign on the door says "gourmet"; the beef patty was previously frozen (you can tell by the texture and the color), the fries were cooked from frozen, and the leaves of my salad were not fresh. The bacon was crispy on one end and floppy on the other; cooked unevenly. All that would be fine if this was a typical $12 burger meal, however to call it "Gourmet" at such a high price point, with quality this low, feels wrong. No sit down ordering, it is all counter service. I ordered the Fat Mario with Chicken, and my wife got the Walla Walla. Both of us were extremely happy. The buns were soft and delicious, not overpowering, and were a perfect delivery device for the real stars. I'm usually not a huge fan of arugula on a burger either, but it was the right amount. Jalapeños were fresh and thinly sliced. The BBQ sauce on the FMC was just enough too. Pot stickers were definitely a nice touch too. All in all, this was a pretty amazing lunch.
