Tried this place for the first time this morning and based solely on their breakfast, I'd definitely recommend giving it a try. I had the breakfast special which got me 2 eggs, 4 strips of bacon, 4 slices of toast, hash browns, and a drink for just over 6 bucks, which is a pretty good deal if you ask me. My only complaint is that I thought the hash browns were kinda mushy and bland, but they had a good variety of hot sauce so that wasn't very hard to fix once I sat down to eat. After glancing at the menu while waiting for my order, it looks like they have some great lunch options as well, which I will definitely be back soon to try. Good experience overall. I had the cowboy burger which was made very well and had fries that came with it for only $8.00. Robert had chili and a buffalo chicken rap which he said was very good. I was looking forward to a hearty breakfast here after reading the ratings & comments. So I walked from my hotel in the cold, not familiar with Skyway system. While ordering a Dave's omelette loaded with ingredients, I wanted a gluten-free option in place of the toast. Gluten-free? It's gonna cost you. Most restaurants around the county will substitute orange slices or tomato slices easily for toast with no additional charge. Dave's? Nope. Hash browns in place of toast are an extra charge. Tomato or orange slices? Extra charge. Of course, you are not credited for deleting the toast, but anything else is going to cost you. Wish I could have given it 4 or 5 stars. read more

It's not about the food, its about the service. I've worked customer service for 10+ years and so I have great compassion for people in the service industry, but every time I am in there no matter how kind or patient I am with the people who work there they are ALWAYS incredibly rude to me. Today I was there waiting for my sandwich. The guy was asking me what I would like on my sandwich and I was telling him, there are other sandwich makers at the counter and although there was a line forming. No one was coming to the counter despite there being signs. A sandwich maker tells me to move so he could help other people. Now, I'm not in the way at ALL!!!! and he had me and the guy who was making my sandwich move to the left. I felt that was unprofessional and rude because again no one else was coming to the counter and he could've literally summoned them with words, but he had me move from the place I had been standing for the past 3 or 4 minutes to move?!! The cashiers are rude the chick with the blonde hair is rude!!! I've even tipped on several occasions, smiled, and was friendly only to have it met with a hurry up and get out of here attitude. I went to Dave's because I work in the building and it's convenient, but after today I decided I would never step another foot in the establishment. What's the point of spending money I work for if I continue to be disrespected? read more

Quick service, friendly staff, cafeteria style ordering and dining. Great salad bar great variety of greenery and protein. Full hot and cold sandwich selection. Fume hoods aren't 100% effective as air does have that greasy food smell. Would come here again. read more

So... the line here at lunch is certainly a bit of a clusterfuck, but I like it here. I often visit my company's Minneapolis office and I always enjoy my lunchtime excursion to Dave's. Wraps, salads, sandwiches, desserts... it's all here. Basic, straightforward lunch food that'll keep your belly full for the afternoon. I like the chicken finger wrap in a whole wheat tortilla with honey mustard sauce. It's enormous, but there's lots of lettuce and tomato in this wrap, so it's bulky, but not overwhelming. I like that I can get fruit instead of chips, but if you're feeling naughy, get the chips. They're really, really good. Desserts are where it's really at, though. My absolute weakness are those peanut butter rice krispie treats with chocolate on top and Dave's version is delicious. Lunch win. read more

This is the go to place for me and my co-workers if we're wanting breakfast. I order the sausage breakfast burrito and for the low price you get so much food. The hash browns are crunchy, the sausage isn't sparse, and they're more than happy to make alterations for you. read more

It's a family run business where the family members treat their employees and customers like a member of their own family. The perfect cross between home cooking and fast food! The ordering process can be a little intimidating at first, but by the second time (and you WILL be back) you'll be a seasoned customer. The food tasted great, first time I tried the daily special, a chicken penne pasta dish, served with soft white bread, it was awesome! The second day I was feeling a little under the weather so I tried a bowl of chicken noodle soup and a grilled cheese with tomato and bacon. The soup was loaded with big chunks of veggies and diced chicken, great flavor, it hit the spot. The grilled cheese had real tomatoes, were thick cut, had good flavor and the bacon was real cooked bacon, not thin and limp, like most , it was thick sliced cooked and was a perfect combo with the soup. Make the time to try this place out, haven't had the breakfast yet, but it looks fantastic! Oh yeah, and they take customer service to a new level too! Everyone is polite and efficient at their job!! I was a first time, out of state visitor to Minneapolis looking for a quick bite to eat for breakfast - and saw a sign pointing to Dave's. To be honest, I thought I was going to a Wendy's joint that served breakfast. I ordered a sausage - egg - muffin sandwich. This may sound corny but it was the BEST tasting one I have ever eaten anywhere. What made it sooo good was that the egg was cooked just right - with just the right amount of seasoning. Cooking an egg properly is a rare art. Not even my mom can do it. The sausage was great quality, fresh and juicy. The muffin was hot - like it just came out of the oven. A great tasting meal is determined - not only by its' ingredients - but by how skilled the cook is in preparing it. I was savoring the taste in my mouth long after I finished eating it. read more

Day 2 of my conference the line was out the door so I skipped. Day 3 we all walked the skyway to here. Again a yuge line. Someone said it goes fast though. There were 4 separate areas to get food. A burger/grill area, a salad bar and soup and sandwich area. There might have been a breakfast area too. There are no designated line areas or numbers to take you just tell them what you want. The menu boards were all in 1" font so you had to walk right up just to read what they have. I had soup and 1/2 sandwich. The chicken wild rice soup was ok, Turkey sandwich just ok. I liked the free flavored water dispensers and took a cucumber lime and orange water. 2 cashier lines also. This place would probably be better if the lines were streamlined better or go on an off peak time. I've never been in the skyway before today but there looks like better offerings. Good skyway place. There is so much on the menu boards in so many different stations that it will take a couple visits to give a true assessment of the place. Not having been there before, the ordering process is a bit chaotic and hard with a group, especially if one person is paying since all the food arrives at different times. Good for the individual payer. I had the chicken sandwich special. About $10 with fries. It was good. Fries were okay, but average for a line order type place. I don't normally write a review, but I was so inspired today after another visit to Dave's. This place is great for fast service and good quality of food for the price! The sandwich and wraps have fresh and crisp veggies, plus they have options other downtown lunch restaurants don't offer. Soups are tasty as well. If you see a long line, not to worry, they have ample staff on hand to move people through faster than you can pick out what you want to order! Dave's is great- the food is simple, but not boring. They've got all the staples and some things you wouldn't expect to see downtown (ie thier open faced turkey dinner or selection of soups that are just your standard chicken noodle or chili). I'm a huge fan of the chicken tender wrap- the honey mustard is delicious!! The lines may seem long at first glance, but they move fast- the employees (who are all very friendly) have their stuff down. Also- the bill is never too painful, wraps come with chips or fruit and a pickle, sandwhiches/burgers come with fries and everything stays around the $8 range- pretty good for downtown. read more

My daughter and I tried Dave's Downtown for lunch. It was delicious! I had the lasagna special, with a side Cesar salad and bread for only $7.50. My daughter had a turkey burger and fries. Our only regret was that we couldn't take our leftovers with us. The container is perfect to take home, but our hotel doesn't have a microwave. Dave's never disappoints. No matter what you're in the mood for, Dave's probably has it and the prices are very reasonable (burgers, salads, wraps, sandwiches, soups, dessert). My favorites are the wraps - particularly the Chipotle Ranch! There's a variety of wraps to pick from (my fav is the jalapeno cheddar) and your choice of chips or fruit for around $8. The wraps are HUGE and definitely leave you satisfied for the rest of the work day. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Dave's to my friends - you should give it a shot! read more

I've only stopped in at Dave's Downtown once, but I have to say I was impressed. When you walk in there are a few different areas to place your order from, depending on what you are in the mood for. There is a spot for grill burgers and chicken sandwiches, and different lines for wraps or salads. The also offer breakfast, but I was in at lunch time. You walk up and place your custom order, they hand you a number and it's up before you know it. Dave's has a nice looking full salad bar, as well as a fountain drink machine and drink cooler. There is a desert tray with a nice selection near the checkout. The prices were very reasonable, I had the Cajun burger with fries, and a water cup for about $8. The burger was fantastic, I especially enjoyed the Cajun sauce it was topped generously with. The fries were slightly above average, but the full table of condiments and seasonings helped me make some improvements. There wasn't a ton of open seating in there at lunch time, but we were able to get a table right away. The place doesn't have a very unique atmosphere, like most sky-way places, but we had a nice view of street level and the attached building isn't overloaded with traffic. All in all I was very pleased with Dave's Downtown, and I will certainly be back in the near future to try some of the other menu options that looked appealing (hint: all of them). For a meal that will most likely be under $10 and leave you full and satisfied Dave's is great choice for your next lunch hour. read more

Haven't been here for a few months. Went for the hot turkey sandwich which I enjoyed on many Thursdays in the winter - not the same at all! Big disappointment. Previously used roasted turkey. Now appears to be a turkey roast? Tasted terrible! Won't go back for that. read more
