Dauphin's is such a treat! I take clients there to eat every time I'm in town and everyone leaves amazed. The food and the service is always amazing. The ambiance is elegant and perfect for meetings. I would love to try something new on the menu, but I just can't turn down the banana docks chicken. The chicken is perfectly juicy every time!

Been a few times, and I highly recommend their brunch! Their dinner is good, but definitely more pricey. Brunch is reasonable and very tasty! Plus you can see the views during the day! Service was very nice! We made a reservation, and though our whole party wasn't there, when we asked if we could go ahead and be seated they took us back. Ordered: Joe Cain dip - spinach and artichoke dip but elevated. Could eat with a spoon! Breakfast bowl - everything was cooked well Royal st. Rooster - huge chicken sandwich! Said sidewinder fries, but was told later they didn't have any which was a bummer Fried gulf shrimp - fried perfectly Eggs a la bama - love fried green tomatoes! And the potatoes were great

Finding the place was a bit of a challenge, but as long as one could locate the correct door, there would be a sign that points in the right direction. My partner and I went straight to the top floor and were seated in a spot that allowed us to see the entire city view. It was very clear that this was a fine dining spot, because I was given a blazer by the restaurant staff since I failed to dress up for this occasion. I have never tried alligator meat before and managed to taste it for the first time here. It tasted like popcorn chicken and having Thai chili sauce was a good move because it offered the dish good flavor. I didn't use any of the ranch dressing. The gulf shrimp chowder was extremely tasty because it contained a good amount of black pepper and a lot of shrimp and cream corn, making the soup taste creamy in a flavorful way. My partner had great things to say about the duck, which was a specialty dish. The maple glaze was obvious and provided the duck breast meat with good flavor. However, the green beans were very plain with barely any seasoning. I ordered the farmer's plate, which was a vegetarian dish, and I thought that it was overall only okay because the snow peas were very undercooked, and they occupied majority of the dish. The green tomatoes, tomatillos, and zucchini all tasted very good. In terms of desserts, the chocolate cake was very hot and moist inside, which made it clear that it was fresh. The outer crust was very crispy but the inside tasted too plain. The key lime pie was very well-made, with a soft layer of graham crackers along with tasty mango syrup and hibiscus reduction defining the extra taste. Overall they both tasted great. I must mention that our server Ashleigh was very attentive and helpful. My partner and I appreciated her help a lot during our experience. Also, it was good to listen to some quiet live performances during the dinner because it added an extra level of vibe.

My family and I stopped here during a drive through Alabama. My father-in-law wanted a nice dinner with a view, and this place certainly delivers on the scenery. The view of Mobile is gorgeous. The interior itself feels pretty dated though. Our server Ev was friendly and gave great recommendations, but the rest of the staff had an attitude. Hard to act that fancy when the food is this inconsistent. Appetizers were actually the highlight of the meal. The 5 Rivers gator bites were excellent with an amazing dipping sauce. The mussels were big and well prepared, though the garlic white wine sauce was a bit underwhelming. We also tried some fish cakes that were dry with an overly mustardy sauce. Entrees were where things went downhill. My Steak Diane was not worth $44. The sauce was watery, the mashed potatoes had a weird aftertaste, and while the steak was tender it just wasn't juicy. The seafood pasta my family got was better, so that's a win, but another entree i don't remember the name of left them feeling meh. For dessert, the cheesecake tasted like it came straight from the refrigerator section at a grocery store. The bread pudding was genuinely good though.

Now this is always a staple for us to go to when we visit Mobile as my father is from there we always come from Mardi Gras and Christmas. The views are spectacular. Ambience is great. Service is great food unmatched.

Perfect for lunch! We walked in and were immediately seated by a window. The view during the day is spectacular. It's a very professional setting. Service was on point. We were served French bread with two different flavors of butter. Our entrees were huge for a lunch portion and delicious. This is quickly becoming one of our favorite places to eat!. I had fried shrimp and asparagus and he had a chicken sandwich that rivaled any I have ever seen!

View was amazing. Food (cheese board) was so so (crackers were stale, I was too lazy to send them back). The waitress was awful. She not only forgot small plates for the cheeseboard. She forgot silverware. She forgot our second order. And she forgot to come back and ask for the second drink . Dress is upscale. But you can dress casual and sit in the chairs as you come in by the bar.

This tuna stack was very tasty, head great flavors served with a chilled spoon, everything was fresh and nicely put together

The view as we're great! I really enjoyed the steak salad! My steak was absolutely cooked perfectly. Kenneth our server was amazing as well. He was so amazing the whole time! The dessert was delicious. I would definitely come back. It's the perfect place to get dressed up for! Only small issues I had was the food took a really long time to receive. Including the dessert as well. The bathroom could use some updating as well. Other than that it was such a great experience

Me and a group of friends had a reservation for a birthday dinner at Dauphin's. The reservation was relatively late so we were one of the last parties. It was a quiet night and the staff was so sweet. The bartender made me a drink that I didn't really like so she replaced it with a custom drink. I told her I love hibiscus and tequila so she made me a hibiscus margarita/martini. It was so good that several of the ladies in my group ordered it as well. I ordered the Joe Cain Dip which I wasn't a huge fan of. It wasn't bad, just not my favorite. The Pasta Del Mar made up for it 10000%. The food was hot and perfectly plated. Nothing was overcooked and the mussels were really good. Also, our server was absolutely amazing. She made sure to answer all of our questions and was very detailed in her descriptions of the different menu options. It was my first time going to Dauphin's for dinner but it definitely won't be my last.

We've dined at the Dauphin's a few times before during previous visits to Mobile, AL and always enjoyed the experience. Unfortunately, this recent visit during Memorial Day weekend was a bit of a letdown. While the service was okay, the food left much to be desired. The main issue was the white fish of the day limon style, which was overcooked ~ extremely dry and hard with a side of overcooked, slimey asparagus. This was quite disappointing, especially since it's a dish I've enjoyed here in the past. However, the rest of the items we ordered were pretty good, maintaining the quality I've come to expect. I have to add that portions are above average size so if you're looking to try dessert, you may want to skip appetizers. One consistent highlight is the view from the 34th floor, which is simply amazing and adds a wonderful ambiance to the dining experience, especially during sunset. The cocktail with thyme is also great. Overall, this visit was not as impressive as previous ones, but I hope it was just an off night for the kitchen. We may give it another chance due to the beautiful setting and the generally good food we've had in the past. Unfortunately, based on this visit, I'd only be able to give it 3 stars.

Harley was our server. She was so polite and attentive. She was knowledgeable in the menu options and made great suggestions. As for atmosphere, it is very chill and the pianist was amazing. We decided to try this restaurant visiting from out of town as my son is wanting to see the SS United States and heard that you could see it from the windows at the top. Our server Alison was amazing! She even took my son into the kitchen area where there are more windows for him to see the ship. I had the La Pina de Plata drink, very yummy. And I had the Red Snapper, fresh catch prepared Limón style for dinner. Excellent! A usual we sat at the bar. Jessie the bartender was a delight. The staff was friendly, polite and accommodating. I got here grumpy and they changed my mood to happy locality-split. The beer selecting although canned was great local, regional, and all the usual suspects beers. Wine list made my wife happy. Kept seeing yummy cocktails going out. Fair whiskey selecting. Moderate gin grouping. From the crab claw appetizer, to a lovely Baldwin spinach salad we were really delighted. They have the food down. The tacos and the shrimp on grits were super. And the decent key lime pie topped it all off. The view is spectacular all the way around. Would love to come here again. read more

Where to start? Came in as a single with no reservation and was warmly greeted by the hostess who sat me at a table with a great view. My server, Olivia, was perfect! Knew the menu, led me to some fantastic choices, and was overall charming. The food was exquisite. Green tomato and shrimp starter was exactly what I wanted. Then came a very elevated shrimp and grits! Super creamy and the sauce was amazing. The bread pudding dessert finished a tremendous meal. I can not speak more highly of the food or the service. Such a fabulous destination for our lunch in Mobile. The view from the 34th floor is spectacular. And the food was amazing. We both had the shrimp chowder and the Cajun paella, both were full of favor and a manageable portion. Live in Mississippi but we will definitely be back. Start to finish, a great experience during Mardi Gras - Joe Cain morning, to be specific. Ambiance was per usual - just great. The music was nice, and made me laugh - a bunch of old obscure songs to which i know the lyrics. (Well Done.) Had apps at the bar, and mimosas. It's like eating a meal in the clouds... especially the night I was there with almost 100% fog. This made for an ethereal, enchanting experience. It was a hard choice on my entree but I went with Port Royal chicken, served on a bed of rice, green tomatoes and zucchini. The chicken was cooked well and seasoned perfectly, swimming in a pool a pepper jelly sauce. My only complaint would be undercooked rice and zucchini. Some of the rice was hard and really crunchy. The happy hour drinks ($9.00 cocktails) were a hit. I ordered the Thyme Out made with vodka, thyme syrup, elderflower, lemonade and pomegranate liquor. The flavors danced on my palette with the thyme rounding out with a bit of savory. I also had a Cuban Mule. Not to sweet, but not as good as the Thyme. Had the best seat in the house imo somehow. First time here. It was on the top floor of the moon pie building. It sat just across from the tallest building in mobile. I apologize I don't know their names. The city was lit up in purple (my fav color )for mardi gras. Beautiful views of the skyline and water. Would have been nice to see it during sunset. Bread service came with flavored butters but I ordered the original. Not that hungry so ordered crab claws. They were delicious! Got complimentary dessert which they gave everyone. Not sure if this happens nightly or special occasion? Must do in mobile!! All around windows to take in the views! Would love to come back and try other food. Live music as well! read more

My husband and I went for dinner on a Saturday night with a reservation and were greeted nicely and seated at a table with a great view. Our waitress was fine, nothing special but not bad. We got the alligator bites and they were very good and my husband got a few drinks that were also good. The main courses were disappointing, especially for the price. He asked for the ribeye medium rare and it came well done and my sword fish was very bland. The sides that came with both dish were better but overall a large letdown for the price and reputation. It's a very unique dinning experience on the 34th floor and would recommend visiting for an appetizer or dessert and drinks but the main courses fell far short for the price read more

Great place for fine dining! We went for a friend's birthday and they were very accommodating to us, even with a large group. Service was excellent and the drinks were fantastic as well!! My filet mignon was delicious and cooked just right!! They also had my favorite wine, that is hard to find. The view is spectacular, especially at night!! Came for the Fourth of July for dinner and drinks. Our server did a great job handling the volume of guests considering she was the only one on the floor. The management was extremely unhelpful and mostly just stood around while the server ran around trying to take care of everything by herself! Very disappointed with the management not helping with guests needs. As someone who's worked in restaurants a long time I sympathize with the waitress! Management needs to do better! read more

Hello Fellow Yelpers! I am in Alabama! I have loved my visit to Mobile, AL. I had dinner at Dauphins and it was amazing. The ambiance is chill and the view is spectacular. I ordered the Baldwin salad, the Rasta pasta with shrimp, and the Cuban mule. The Baldwin was tasty the strawberries were fresh and the goat cheese and walnuts was a great combination. The Rasta pasta was spicy but not too spicy so it's good for most folks to try. The Cuban mule was the best mule I have had thus far. I highly recommend you visit Dauphins. Tip: there is a dress code, therefore, dress accordingly. Also make a reservation. Lastly, it's on the 34th floor, I hope you're not afraid of heights. read more

Place had a really good view of downtown, the ambiance was kind of lackluster though, it doesnt really do anything, just sort of vaguely upscale. The service can be good (at times) but iffy. The drinks were good. I got a chicken sandwich which is admittedly hard to make taste bad, but it tasted very yummy and I demolished it in short time. One of my colleagues got the shrimp, which were okay but theyve tasted better or similar for less price, the cocktail sauce was terrible though, far too tangy and spicy, they put too much of something in it and it made it inedible. Elevators scare me sometimes. read more

I would only recommend checking out Dauphin's for the incredible view. I don't understand how a "nice" restaurant with a dress code and haughty vibe could have such awful food. we went for lunch, only to be met with a brunch menu. I asked for ice tea with no ice. appetizer was alright. my lunch came 45 minutes later,our server just stood around most of the time staring at us, my food was barley warm, eggs were dry and over cooked, pots were shriveled up and dry, grits were encrusted on top, like the whole plate sat under a heat lamp for a long time. needless to say, we will not be returning to Dauphins. I've been here a couple times, once my wife and I the second time there was four of us. Both times all of us enjoyed our meals. The first time we were there my wife and I both had the dolphin or mahi-mahi. We recently celebrated our wedding anniversary during a lunch hour at Dauphin's. The food was excellent and the prices were well within our means to pay so I was extremely happy. We are both retired and on a fixed income so that is very important to us. Located at the site of the old Bienville Club at the top of one of the tallest office buildings in downtown Mobile, the view of the skyline and the Port of Mobile created a great atmosphere for our lunch. Overall I would highly recommend Dauphin's, it's food and it's atmosphere to anyone, especially if you are going there for lunch. read more

Food was ok. Service was not. We had a group of 8 ladies. Alligator appetizer was best thing at the table. The crawfish cakes were terrible. Maybe 3 crawfish in each cake. The rest was just stuffing. The poke was really good also. Other things we ordered were just ok. Drinks were very good. Lemon drop martini was one of the best I've had. Our waitress definitely did not hide her lack of enthusiasm to be our server. Our table was never cleared and we were left unattended for a while. Meet the Business Owner: Bob B.

In the late 1970's, Bob Baumhower couldn't have dreamed he'd one day make a career in hospitality. It was his very unhospitable reputation as a defensive powerhouse that made Bob a five-time Pro-Bowl selection and record-shattering legend in his ten years with the Miami Dolphins. Since 1981, Bob has turned his considerable energy to the love for food and hospitality nurtured at his family's table growing up and later in the kitchen with nutritionist wife Leslie. His first restaurant ventures in the NFL-off season became a full time second career after retirement in 1986.
