Everything was good!!! The biscuits and butter appetizer was good. The Joe Cain Dip Appetizer was good! Both Entrees were good. I think the portion size of the Beef Grillades was lacking. This was not the case with the Banana Dock's French Toast. It was a good portion size. Great presentation. I ate the island bread pudding so quickly that I forgot to take a pic. It was outstanding. Where to start? Came in as a single with no reservation and was warmly greeted by the hostess who sat me at a table with a great view. My server, Olivia, was perfect! Knew the menu, led me to some fantastic choices, and was overall charming. The food was exquisite. Green tomato and shrimp starter was exactly what I wanted. A usual we sat at the bar. Jessie the bartender was a delight. The staff was friendly, polite and accommodating. I got here grumpy and they changed my mood to happy locality-split. The beer selecting although canned was great local, regional, and all the usual suspects beers. Wine list made my wife happy. Kept seeing yummy cocktails going out. Fair whiskey selecting. Moderate gin grouping. From the crab claw appetizer, to a lovely Baldwin spinach salad we were really delighted. They have the food down. The tacos and the shrimp on grits were super. Start to finish, a great experience during Mardi Gras - Joe Cain morning, to be specific. Ambiance was per usual - just great. The music was nice, and made me laugh - a bunch of old obscure songs to which i know the lyrics. (Well Done.) Had apps at the bar, and mimosas. My husband and I went for dinner on a Saturday night with a reservation and were greeted nicely and seated at a table with a great view. Our waitress was fine, nothing special but not bad. We got the alligator bites and they were very good and my husband got a few drinks that were also good. The main courses were disappointing, especially for the price. He asked for the ribeye medium rare and it came well done and my sword fish was very bland. The sides that came with both dish were better but overall a large letdown for the price and reputation. It's like eating a meal in the clouds... especially the night I was there with almost 100% fog. This made for an ethereal, enchanting experience. It was a hard choice on my entree but I went with Port Royal chicken, served on a bed of rice, green tomatoes and zucchini. The chicken was cooked well and seasoned perfectly, swimming in a pool a pepper jelly sauce. My only complaint would be undercooked rice and zucchini. Some of the rice was hard and really crunchy. The happy hour drinks ($9.00 cocktails) were a hit. I ordered the Thyme Out made with vodka, thyme syrup, elderflower, lemonade and pomegranate liquor. The flavors danced on my palette with the thyme rounding out with a bit of savory. I also had a Cuban Mule. Not to sweet, but not as good as the Thyme. Had the best seat in the house imo somehow. First time here. It was on the top floor of the moon pie building. It sat just across from the tallest building in mobile. I apologize I don't know their names. The city was lit up in purple (my fav color )for mardi gras. Beautiful views of the skyline and water. Would have been nice to see it during sunset. Bread service came with flavored butters but I ordered the original. Not that hungry so ordered crab claws. They were delicious! Got complimentary dessert which they gave everyone. Came for the Fourth of July for dinner and drinks. Our server did a great job handling the volume of guests considering she was the only one on the floor. The management was extremely unhelpful and mostly just stood around while the server ran around trying to take care of everything by herself! Very disappointed with the management not helping with guests needs. As someone who's worked in restaurants a long time I sympathize with the waitress! Management needs to do better! read more

Place had a really good view of downtown, the ambiance was kind of lackluster though, it doesnt really do anything, just sort of vaguely upscale. The service can be good (at times) but iffy. The drinks were good. I got a chicken sandwich which is admittedly hard to make taste bad, but it tasted very yummy and I demolished it in short time. One of my colleagues got the shrimp, which were okay but theyve tasted better or similar for less price, the cocktail sauce was terrible though, far too tangy and spicy, they put too much of something in it and it made it inedible. we went for lunch, only to be met with a brunch menu. I asked for ice tea with no ice. appetizer was alright. my lunch came 45 minutes later,our server just stood around most of the time staring at us, my food was barley warm, eggs were dry and over cooked, pots were shriveled up and dry, grits were encrusted on top, like the whole plate sat under a heat lamp for a long time. needless to say, we will not be returning to Dauphins. I ordered the Baldwin salad, the Rasta pasta with shrimp, and the Cuban mule. The Baldwin was tasty the strawberries were fresh and the goat cheese and walnuts was a great combination. The Rasta pasta was spicy but not too spicy so it's good for most folks to try. The Cuban mule was the best mule I have had thus far. I highly recommend you visit Dauphins. We recently celebrated our wedding anniversary during a lunch hour at Dauphin's. The food was excellent and the prices were well within our means to pay so I was extremely happy. We are both retired and on a fixed income so that is very important to us. Located at the site of the old Bienville Club at the top of one of the tallest office buildings in downtown Mobile, the view of the skyline and the Port of Mobile created a great atmosphere for our lunch. Overall I would highly recommend Dauphin's, it's food and it's atmosphere to anyone, especially if you are going there for lunch. read more

I would only recommend checking out Dauphin's for the incredible view. I don't understand how a "nice" restaurant with a dress code and haughty vibe could have such awful food. My husband got the shrimp and I got the "La" Paella from the lunch menu. I kid you not, this "paella" comes out and it is green peas, sausage and rice that tasted way worse than rice-a-roni all separated on the plate. Our food was lukewarm like it had been pre-made and set under heat lamps for awhile. I barely choked down half of my entree and then gave up. Please go elsewhere if you want good food. Food was ok. Service was not. We had a group of 8 ladies. Alligator appetizer was best thing at the table. The crawfish cakes were terrible. Maybe 3 crawfish in each cake. The rest was just stuffing. The poke was really good also. Other things we ordered were just ok. Drinks were very good. Lemon drop martini was one of the best I've had. Our waitress definitely did not hide her lack of enthusiasm to be our server. Our table was never cleared and we were left unattended for a while.
