After my 1 star review over a year ago, I've been contacted 4 times via private messaging, twice asking me to remove my review because it's been up so long, as it was negatively impacting their "local" business and employees. The manager/president was apologetic and said they've since improved their process. I appreciate the apology but I'm sorry but it doesn't change what's already happened. Yelp allows business to respond to negative reviews so I suggest you respond to my review and explain to potential customers what solutions have been put into place. The woman helping me was making me feel like an idiot (isn't that why your company exists- to help people who do not know how to recover data) and like I was a bother. In this day and Age, losing your data is big grievance, especially when you don't have a backup. I had my laptop physically crashed, the HDD went flying out and hit the pavement. I wanted to recover the files on a hard drive that would not power on. I looked on the manufacturers website for data recovery service and they recommended Data Recovery and it was near by in Pleasanton. On the Data Recovery website it said that if they cannot recover data it is free. That was a big plus. I took the drive to their facility and they checked it out. I got an email stating that the heads had crashed but they thought that they could recover data. This was personal files covering 12 years that we did not have copies. The price had a 10% discount for the manufacturer but it still cost quite a bit of money. It was however, not more than I expected even thought this was my first recovery. We accepted the recovery and they put the data on a hard drive I left with them. The dead hard drive had about 200 GBytes of data, 40,000 files. About 6,000 files were corrupted so they gave an additional 19% discount. Now the price was totally worth getting back all those files. They also responded to all my questions along the way. AMAZING! I have quite a story to tell, but will keep it short. Our office got hit by a ransom ware virus, it hit our servers at work after someone opened a corrupt attachment. It set us back significantly. We then googled "ransom ware recovery." We found at the top of the page "Proven Data Recovery," AKA the "bad guys" in my view. We told them the problem, and got a quote... over $5K for 1 day "emergency" service, over $3.5K for "expedited" 2-4 day service, and almost $2.5K for 5-7 day "standard" service. I was quite upset with the rate, and it felt like a scam, but I was worried they had sort of a monopoly on this as I couldn't find any competitor.
