The hard drive on my 3 year old CCTV system (hard wired) stop reading and writing. I called the original installer who wanted to sell me a new NVR to replace the NVR he installed only 3 years ago. The original installer was absolutely useless and less than helpful. I am NOT a CCTV specialist, but I know the NVR systems are relatively simple computers. On the suggestion from my wife, I called Saratoga Computers and asked them if they could replace the hard drive on the NVR. It so happened that Matt Mauer from Saratoga Computers knew exactly how to replace the hard drive on my NVR. He ordered a large capacity hard drive and replaced the defunct hard drive with the new drive in a matter of minutes. The new hard drive is an industrial enterprise HD so it should work well. The drive did not need to be formatted and started working as soon as Matt restarted the system!! We have used this company for many years and now for repairs to our CCTV system. I highly recommend this company for repairs to computers and now CCTV systems. ***Before calling Saratoga Computers, I called 6 CCTV companies around the Walnut Creek to check out my system; every CCTV company simply wanted to sell me a new system!!!! What a scam!!! read more

I have an ~8 year old laptop that I am obsessed with. Unfortunately, I spilled chai on the keyboard & it stopped working properly. I found this place on yelp & it was up the street. Anthony provided 10/10 services. He found & ordered the new keyboard despite the challenges of finding it because of how old this thing is & charged a reasonable price. Communication was professional & he always sent updates regarding where he was in the process. I felt lucky that I found this place! You know the feeling of walking in to a mechanic or tech store & not knowing if you're gonna get played? Well, this experience was the complete opposite. Highly recommend this place :) read more

Can I just say these guys are LIFESAVERS! we had an older Imac that we use just for browsing the internet, pay bills etc. but with the kids doing distance learning it started to get a lot of zoom use. Unfortunately these were built with a flaw where the the graphics card will overheat and eventually get fried when used a lot. This happened right before the holidays and after calling around we were told it would cost somewhere between $700 and $900 for repair. (I called 2 places like ufixit etc.) Even though this is an old imac that we planned on eventually replacing we werent really prepared to do that right now as we just bought the kids 2 new laptops and we only used this downstairs. We brought it to the apple store in Walnut creek and they told us there was not much they could do. We wanted to get our data and the technician referred us to get a 2nd opinion at Saratoga Computers which he highly recommended. Anthony helped us when we came in and not only was he knowledgeable of the problem----he gave us the pros and cons of fixing it, but he also backed up our data. He also gave us a much lower quote at half the price compared to anyone else. We decided to do the repair to buy us some time to save for a new desktop. These guys are the real deal. Helpful and honest with their cost, labor and will give you options. Go to them to them to get a fair diagnostics and pricing. read more

Highest praise! I was a walk-in client last week with two jammed MacBook Pros & a sack full of half-working external drives. Anthony handled the i.t. issues like a master surgeon. He backed up all my stuff, up/downloaded the proper files via cloud and drives, fixed my icloud settings so the problem wouldn't reoccur, and advised me how to properly backup & synch for future ease. Thank you Anthony & Saratoga Computers! -Richard Salles read more

My computer crashed while trying to update my mac to the latest software. I spent about 3 hours on the phone with apple support and after attempting everything, they basically said my computer was dead and would have to be reformatted in order to function again. Probably would have been an okay option if I backed up my computer idk in the last 3 years...oops. I emailed a bunch of computer places on yelp that specialize in data recovery services since apple told me it would be next to impossible to get the files off my computer and saved. Like most people, I store everything on my computer (and clearly don't back it up) so it would have been pretty tragic to lose all my data. The guys at Saratoga Computers emailed me back a price quote at about 1/5 of every other company and said they would run diagnostics AND said they wouldn't charge me if they couldn't save my data. Wow. Not only did Saratoga Computers save all my data, fix my computer, and basically save my life, they did it super fast and without any troubles. Highly highly highly recommend. read more

Saved the data and the computer! Thank you!! I had an old MacBook Pro I had been playing with for months, trying to recover a corrupted hard drive using every free tool I could find, but nothing really worked. In a few days they were able to recover all the data for me and even get the machine running again, all for a fair price. I will definitely be returning in the future. read more

Super solid computer repair place. They are locally owned and have been in business for a long time. Matt is an honest tech - a few friends have brought in computers to them and he's diagnosed them and found something minor wrong and didn't even charge them for the fix. If you brought your stuff into Best Buy or some other big box store they are going to give you a minimum just to look at your computer. read more

Matt is AWESOME! I had a down printer in our office. He came out free of charge and gave us an estimate for the repair. We called around.. They were the best price around. He came back out picked up our printer, had it fixed and delivered the next day! The printer ended up needing an extra part replaced and they went ahead and took care of it free of charge. Matt was very professional and helpful. We will definitely be using them in the future. read more

I'm going to be completely blunt: I don't know a thing about computers. And when my two computers needed serious repair, I had no idea where to go. I was thinking about going to a big box computer company but I instead found Saratoga Computers and I really loved working with them. The biggest thing: They didn't act like a bunch of know it alls, like I have experienced a lot at Best Buy and Frys. You can tell they are really great people that care about taking care of their customers. They're local and family owned, they know all different computer software (they cleaned up and sped up my new Macbook and my old HP) and they give you honest feedback, recommendation and very reasonable pricing that doesn't make you feel like you got swindled. What was even better was that the service was very quick. I will never take my computer anywhere else from here on out. Thank you Saratoga Computers! read more

Great experience. The shop replied to my request for a quote right away and told me when they'd be available to fix my laptop. They SAVED my laptop for very decent price and quick turn around and honest business, I would 1000%%% recommend!

Took my wife's 18 month old HP laptop in for diagnosis because it was rebooting without warning and no suggested solution. Saratoga found some virus which they thought might be causing the problem. unfortunately after I took it home, it finally died indicating the hard drive failed. Instead of replacing the drive with the same device, I decided to replace it with a SSD drive. I wanted to pick it up on the weekend, but they had a business project to work on. Matt suggested I meet him on Sunday and I would get the laptop back. He/they went out of their way to provide excellent customer service. I would use them again, and would recommend them to anyone. read more

Came here yesterday, from San Francisco, to drop off my laptop that got stuck on the automatic repair screen. Matt was able to keep all my data intact and repair the corrupted files in just a few hours! Highly suggest you come here to get your devices fixed up! read more

Very friendly professional neighborhood shop, will accommodate you even after hours (Jim has me leave my computer at another buisiness next door where he is friends with the owners, just to save me a trip when I arrived on their day off) He fixed my computer and I was given a free charging cord when I returned a week later when it coincidentally broke. Will come back there for my future computer related needs. read more

Best computer guys I have ever dealt with!! Brought a computer into them I thought was as good as dead and somehow they took a look at it and poof..it is right back to doing everything I need it to do better than ever!! And mind you this was all done the day before I had to catch an afternoon flight back out to school. Jim and Sam were so understanding and did everything they could to make sure I had one less worry going into my senior year of college. They did an absolutely fantastic job repairing my computer and were overall very enjoyable to work with. Definitely know where I will be going any time further issues arise...but the way they fixed it I don't think that will be for a very long time!! If you're having any issues with your computer look no further these are definitely your guys. read more

After my 8 year old desktop Mac "died", I had to buy a new one, and I needed to have it installed in my home office. Anthony, a professional and very knowledgeable young man spent 2 hours at our home installing the Mac, while we watched and learned. (We all wore masks). He asked all the right questions about how we wanted to use the Mac, and the features that were important to us, and how the desktop should look. He also attached an external hard drive for Back-up. And he did it all pleasantly, patiently and efficiently. We were extremely pleased, relieved and grateful for Anthony's expertise and the manner in which he demonstrated it.My new Mac is now functioning smoothly, thanks to Anthony's good work. (And he took away the old Mac to see if he could retrieve any of my data from the hard drive. I learned a painful less on about the need for back-up.) I prefer to support local small businesses, which is what Saratoga Computers is. Highly Recommended!!!! read more
