I came in with a broken computer and he was super helpful. He gave me a quote to fix it, but then asked what I was actually using the computer for. I told him I really just needed the processor and internals, so he suggested I just hook it up to a monitor instead of spending the money to fix the screen. He could've easily just taken my money for the repair, but instead saved me a bunch of money. Super nice guy and really helpful, definitely recommend. read more

As I was checking to get repairs for my Laptop, I spoke to a couple of vendors via yelp and Paul was the rudest person in this business. Instead of providing me quote for the simple repair, he tried selling me a used laptop that he claims he gets from businesses, which at first I thought was a good choice. II asked him for the specs to understand what he is offering and if the laptop is new or used/refurbished,, he sends a rude reply saying that he had intuition it's not going to work. This is not how you run a business where you get rude response just to understand what you are agreeing to buying. Will not recommend him. read more

Saved the hard drive from my dead laptop and put it into another laptop. Quick, easy, and fair. Recommend.

I called asking them to fix a problem with my laptop. Unfortunately, it's a problem with the laptop where as the laptop is "totaled". ($300 laptop). They gave me alternative options to work around it, which after researching would've worked on other laptops - just not my specific model. Overall very friendly, helpful and most importantly honest. read more

Paul is the best. He has been my computer guy for years. All that I have paid him has been worth every penny because he will save you money. Most recently, I brought him a laptop that was dead, dead, dead. I figured that it had lived its laptop life and I'd be buying another. I brought it to Paul before I did that. He is an expert diagnostician, from his many years of experience. For a very reasonable fee, he identified the likely problem and brought my laptop back to life. read more

Do not buy from him. I bought a computer from him 5 months ago and it died. It is still under warranty. I asked him if he could help me and he said no. The computer is under warranty and he wanted nothing to do with it. I asked him if he could look at it and he said no. Then he said I should always have multiple PCs in my house. I am 70 years old and I live on a fixed income. When he sold me the computer he said it had a 2 year warranty, but he wanted nothing to with it. He belittled me the whole time since I was not a computer geek like him. I m sorry a computer should last more than 5 months and if not he should show some concern and try to help me. He was mad I woke him up at 9:15 in the morning. read more

I went to Paul for a consultation for building my new PC. Paul gave me very good advices on what components I should buy. He saved me thousands of dollars on the PC components. He was also very helpful when I called him for questions and gave me a lot of good advices. At the end, I was able to complete my build and boot up my system successfully. The new system runs very quiet and fast - all thanks to the components recommended by Paul. I would definitely recommend anyone who wants to build a new PC to have an initial consultation with Paul, and even have him build a PC for you. Paul is very smart, intelligent, and knows a lot. He definitely is a passionate expert on the hardware stuff. Moreover, he cares about his clients and he wants each client to be successful on their computer stuff. read more

I brought my computer because one of the fans gets very loud while playing games as if the fan blades are scraping on something. I dropped it off and got a call later because it wouldn't turn on. Surely not his fault, it probably happened due to transporting the PC. After ordering and installing a new motherboard, the PC turned on and I took it home. The fan still makes the same noise AND one of my USB 3.1 ports no longer works. I paid $200 to lose a USB port. read more

Recom is my goto for computer service and sales. Paul is responsive and knowledgeable and saved me money as I didn't have to buy features I don't need or use. 100% on his advice to back up your harddrive bi-monthly! Will always refer RECOM to my friends. Support local business! read more

Paul saved the morale of my 13 year old son and I couldn't be happier! Poor kid spent all his money on a gaming computer, obsessing over every component for months. It took him a week to build, and then...it wouldn't turn on. My son declared himself unworthy and regretted every moment of working toward that machine before he left for the week. I took the "brick" to Paul to diagnose, figuring I'd tell my son a nice lie if he had, indeed, messed up the build. Paul quickly diagnosed a bad slot on the motherboard, and gave me tons of ego-sparing encouragement to lavish on my kid. I face-timed with him afterwards and the glint in his eye has returned! Very kind man and very encouraging and knowledgeable! I highly recommend utilizing his "build your first PC" service, as I gather there is a lot to learn and Paul will share his knowledge! read more

He keeps in touch so you know how the repair is going. Overall, I had a pleasant experience with Paul and I really recommend you go in for yourself and check him out if you ever need to get your device fixed. read more

He responds quickly, seems to know everything about computers and peripherals and can fix anything. My laptop was slow and he upgraded my memory and hard drive. Called to get a quote on transferring data from one machine to another one I had bought on CL. He asked where I got my new machine and how much I paid so I told him. He then told me the computer I had bought was stolen and that no one has bought more computers than he has on Craigslist and he could assure me it was stolen but, he would still work on it. I had explained to him what the seller had told me(he bought an extra machine for his new house and was having trouble selling it after finding he didn't need it). He insisted that he's been doing this for x years and it was very likely and stolen machine. I said it's very possible it wasn't but he kept insisting it was. Let me ask. Wtf was the point of grilling me like that? Why couldn't you just say "hey that's an awesome deal bring her by and let's get it set up"? Why was it so important to you to make me believe the computer was stolen? Makes me feel like you're projecting your own shadyness onto the rest of everybody. Anyway you'd think after his whole "I hAvE 30 YeArS eXPeRiEnCe dUrRrr" spiel he'd have more tact dealing with customers and not engaging in a debate 30 seconds after they call. read more

He's my go to guy. If you have issues or are in the market for a new or another computer call him.

When I saw the complaints from the gamer and Paul's responses to them I knew I had found my guy :-) Thank you, complaining gamer! I have been keeping my custom built for day trading computer limping along myself. Over the years I have replaced the power supply, fan, 2 video cards. Then the third video card failed way too soon and a new one didn't fix it. So then I was like, ok, there could be a larger problem and I have reached the limits of my technical abilities. I could a) spend hundreds of $ and possibly 100 hours reading Tom's Hardware and swapping out parts and still not fixing it and possibly breaking even more things along the way due to ineptitude, b) buy a new, comparable machine for $1000, c) find a guy (NOT expensive big company) to fix it. Paul was EXTREMELY helpful and efficient. After talking with him on the phone, we decided it was worth bringing my computer in for him to have a look. Due to it's age, my computer was a big pain to deal with, but he put in a new motherboard, replaced the shorted out water cooling system with a plain fan (he said I didn't need the water cooling anyway and to be fair, the people who built my machine said I didn't need it either), and new video card, all for, I forget how much, like $471 parts included! He sent me a link for the drivers to run 3 monitors, and since my computer had been dead for, oh, 9 months or so, I had to do various updates and the Windows license again because of the new motherboard, but now it's all good and I'm typing this review on my fixed computer! Even though my machine is old, it's still a decent machine, and I'm so happy to have it back instead of using that crappy laptop! I really love how he gave me exactly the services I needed and had me do the rest myself so I could save a ton of money! Personally, I found Paul quite easy and delightful to work with, especially since he is so efficient and he just gets it done and that's what I like. After this computer dies, I'll probably have him build me a new one! read more

For the first time in my life my computer crashed. I found Paul through Yelp. Since he lives just a few blocks away and he has very good Yelp reviews, I decided to give him a try. When I called, he answered almost immediately. I explained the problem and he asked a few simple yet basic questions. He told me to bring it over to his home-office and he will get me back up and running. Since I run a business that is closely linked to my computer, it was critical I get "back in the game" quickly. I brought my computer to his home office, which by the way is a professional studio in a separate building on the side of his home (no being uncomfortable invading someone's home). He quickly diagnosed the problem and determined I needed a new computer. Since mine was about 12--15 yrs. old, I suspect he was spot-on. About a day later he called me and said my new computer was ready to be installed. I am SO thankful he was able to save ALL of my files. I had the important ones backed up on flash drives and Dropbox, but there were other non-critical files that I wanted to be able to retain; he saved them all and transferred them to the new computer. He also set up an external hard drive so I am not as vulnerable to a disaster. He purchased it on Amazon and just added the cost to my bill. He came to my house and helped me set up the new computer (OK, he did all the work . . . ). He even helped me open up my computer cabinet to fit the new, larger PC. He spent a couple hours at my house and didn't leave until I felt comfortable with everything. He said I could call him anytime with questions. I have called him twice since and he happily and professionally answered my questions. He even lent me a disk with a program I need. All this for a very reasonable price. I would have spent more for a computer at Best Buy or Fry's and not got what I need; and as an added benefit - HE did all the work, including adding Microsoft Office and setting up my printer driver (among other tasks). I highly recommend Paul if you're having a computer issue (of course if you are, you probably can't read this . . . ). He is very knowledgeable and reasonably priced (a real bargain if you ask me). He makes himself available when you need him and won't sell you stuff you don't need. Overall, a good experience. read more

Our Toshiba Satellite S855 laptop blanked out suddenly, yellow light blinks and doesn't boot up. It has lot of data and son's project work etc. Called in couple stores and Paul from Recom was offered to look at it between appointments. He immediately identified the issue and offered options. I really appreciate his time and expertise in this field. Motherboard got burnt out and it would cost quite much where I can buy in another laptop. He offered an refurbished old one at his place at nominal price. He installed MS office in that too. Swapped the memories & gave me the hard disk so I can put it in an enclosure. All done in less than an 60/90 mins. Very happy with his service and expertise. read more

Apparently, I, and 10 other gamers who call him per week are complete idiots for building our own computers. Doesn't matter how many successful builds I've had in the past, I'm an idiot for attempting to do something for myself. Well, according to Paul I am. Also I got scammed by every company I purchased from. MSI and Asus is "cheapo" and the real kicker, "there is no such thing as 120hz monitors." What a joke, for a professional, he sure conducts himself like a child. I've never been insulted more in one phone call in my entire life. How can he have 5 star reviews acting like this to people? I have an issue with POSTing and he is going off about how bad my video card is? Really? And then my monitor?! Tell me, paul, how is that related when I already told you I took it out to check post status. Why do you have to insult me and my purchase decisions. Absolutely horrible customer service. You completely sidetracked from my issue, and just went off about whatever you wanted to complain about. I asked if you could fix an issue, not complain about how stupid of a choice it was to buy so and so. In no situation should you ever just flat out call people names, that is basic elementary school manners.
