I dropped my laptop and went to R-computer to see if it was salvageable. The staff there was straightforward, promptly responsive, and honest about their diagnostic process and recommendations. I ended up getting a new laptop because it wasn't worth saving and repairing the old one. The staff let me bring in my new laptop and transferred all my programs and comments from my previous hard drive. There was a diagnostic fee, but it was waived when I decided to have the files transferred. I'd say it was a fair price for their services and felt professional and honest. Great service and reasonable prices! It's also very appreciated when people who know more than you about something, are honest and genuinely helpful, which these guys are! My laptop, an ASUS that was a horrible waste of money and has given me nothing but headaches, stopped charging due to the charging port (that's built in to part of the mother board ?!?! Idk why they'd design it like that but ... I digress) had cracked. They very kindly showed me, which they don't usually do but I wanted to see what they were talking about, and gave me honest feed back on my options. I decided that having them just drop some solder on it to try and remake the connection would be the best choice, and they did that and it still works, and that was a few months ago. Not to mention they got it back to me in the same day because I was freaking out about midterms. Reasonable prices, especially considering they really seem to know their stuff. If there is one business in the world that I am thankful for its R-Computer. The customer service is second to none. Do not take your computer anywhere else. My pc was on the fritz and was already slow and not working the same way. Then my daughter walked over to it and pushed the on and off button over and over again until my computer self imploded. Its spirit left its body and took all my photos, documents and everything else dear to me with it. They got it back into working shape. I was able to save all my photos and deactivate my photo editing programs and Itunes. In the end, I had to buy a new computer. But I was able to easily transfer all my stuff over to the new one with ease. Ill only come here for my computer needs. read more

We've been patronizing R-Computer for more than 25 years now, mostly to replace old computers with new ones. They've always been helpful in their recommendations and fair in their pricing. Recently our three year old HP laptop developed a blue screen and was not amenable to being fixed using the internal diagnostics. Took it in for service and Ben outlined the possible scenarios and costs. Turned out the wireless card had failed, but he also checked it out generally, removed some malware, installed some updates and now we're up and running again. A bit disappointed that he wasn't able to complete the service as quickly as he anticipated, but other than that, quite pleased with our experience. I'm now going to arrange for a remote repair for a network problem with my desktop computer and expect that too to go well. read more

I will never purchase a computer or have it worked on anywhere else but HERE!. Very knowledgeable, professional staff. I have had drives fail, virus' cleaned, installed new hardware, everything imaginable and they have dealt with it all. That's not to say that they were able to fix everything that went wrong with the "mechanical" device but try hard they did and usually very successfully. I lost my wife to cancer a little more than more than a year ago. I had over 5,000 pictures including family, vacations, grand-kids sports and her last pictures. I got a message that my hard drive was getting full, I moved them to an external drive which crashed 3 days after I bought it (from Costco and it was a MECHANICAL DEVICE). Western Digital did everything in their power to fix it but it was trashed. I went to Darnell at R-Computer and explained my dilemma. He spend the next several days restoring many of those pictures including her last pictures. I can't thank him enough. It was wonderful to work with the same professional throughout the entire process. I have bought all my desktops and laptops here. Never felt like I was getting a steal of a deal but knew that the service I would eventually need was only a phone call a way so I wasn't after a "deal" but the local service. Please forgive some background. I purchased a custom desktop from R Computer seven years ago. After some initial problems, due to a processor, nothing that R Computer built, this computer has performed INCREDIBLY. After replacing laptops every couple of years I consider this one of the best purchases I've EVER MADE. Basically no problems other than an issue with Office licensing which again, was no fault of R Comp. They helped me with it anyway as they did when I finally switched to Windows 10, free of charge. Recently I had a problem which turned out to be my fault but Steven, who it turns out actually built my computer, ran a diagnostic, again free of charge due to the fact that R Comp built the unit. Though it still performs basically flawlessly, I had Steven do a tune up, partially because I had been thinking about it anyway and because I felt guilty for wasting their time. I took my 1.5 year old HP Envy 17 laptop in a while back, due to a hard drive being corrupted and not booting. I informed the tech this happened after a major update. The guy informed me that the hard drive was locked and they couldn't do anything except replace the hard drive. I let the technician replace it and requested my hard drive back, he informed me I could, but it was broken. When I went to pick it up, the guy then informed me that there were also some internal issues, that he forget to mention, that wouldn't allow him to put all the screws back in, due to being broke. He then told me I needed to replace a bracket for the bottom cover and hood, for the screen, to correct it. I opted out of this due to the cost, which was upwards of 1k. Fast forward to now, I took my laptop into a repair place abroad due to the hood popping and making it hard to open. I sat with them while inspection was done and they showed me that there was in fact 6 screws missing from the bottom cover and nothing internal was broken, just the screws under the rubber anti slip pads were either missing or not screwed in. This cause a lot of movement. Once they put new screws in, all the problems with the screen hood and plastic were fixed. I decided to give them the hard drive that was "broken" to look at. I have been using it as an external. They hooked it up and told me it also was not broken, but locked due to a update crash most likely. I let them keep it for a few days until they were able to correct the corruption and get it working again. If you go here I would just ask for them to go over anything they did. I am not necessarily saying they do bad or shoddy work, especially since they have great reviews, but I think I either got a poor technician or the guy just did a poor job in order to upsell. read more

My computer is little over a year old and has been running slow (and driving me crazy) ever since I purchased it. I have had many techs try and determine why my computer is slow...because everyone said it shouldn't be slow! I recently had Ben at R-Computer take a close look at my machine. Even through the hard drive passed every test as being good...Ben was not convinced. He offered to replace my hard drive with a solid state hard drive for a very reasonable cost. He said if it did not drastically improve the performance of my computer...there would be no charge. The result was a drastic improvement in my computer performance!!! Ben was right! Then the husband just could not handle the (easy) Mac interface, and it was time for a new computer. My computer got infected with a virus. My sister referred me to r computer. They are open till 6:00pm so I was able to go there after I got off work. The store is very clean and organized. When I walked in I put my computer on the counter and told them what the problem was. The gentleman "Jason" plugged it in quickly and easily right there on the counter. He started looking it over. He confirmed that there was a lot of malware and that there was some issues that seamed to be isolated to internet explorer. He said he could give it a tune up for $150.00 which seamed pretty reasonable, he said that if there was any viruses that he could fix them also, for only $50.00 more. He said it would take up to 2 days. So far I received very good customer service and am very happy with the price for them to do the work. I will continue my review when I get my computer back...... So I got my computer back and I swear it has never loaded this fast. I turn it on and theres the login screen, I click on the Internet and whoop, there it is. It really runs better than it ever has before! I'm so glad I didn't have to buy a new computer, and it like I do have a new one. The people at R computer were very helpful and nice when I came to get it. I thought it was really cool that Jason called me with updates and was really concerned about the safety and recovery of my data almost more than I was. I felt very comfortable giving him the necessary passwords and info to apply changes and updates as needed. Thank you R computer, you rock! :) read more

WATCH OUT DVC STUDENTS AND COMPUTER OWNERS. Horrible store. They upsold me on a laptop telling me it had better support and warranty. Hard drive went out in 3 months and had 7 seperate issues since I had the computer. 13 months after the hard drive goes out the motherboard went out. They didn't care bc now the unit is out of warranty. I tried to return my computer several times to find that they would fix it for free until the warranty expired. Then they washed their hands with me and there only solution was to sell me another one of their units. Deceitful company I am going to apple now. Plus the owner disclosed he doesn't even make much of a profit off the standard consumer, it is the networking services he provides to other companies that generates income. My family had come here for years before this incident. Do not trust the owner Ed Roth or manager Darnell. read more

A bit of a hidden gem but easy to get to get to. I depend upon my laptop for business so much these days. The battery was dying and a small spill made my keyboard glitchy (technical term :)). I just had a computer crash. Called R Computer in a panic as all our bookkeeping data and all my spreadsheets were blocked. I took the computer in and it was beyond repair (and old). I had R Computer build me a new computer and was pleasantly surprised when Keith spent a great deal of time not only installing my programs and my data, but spent time showing me many things about Windows 10 and computers in general I had never understood before. I am female, 77 years old and definitely not a computer geek. I came home with a new fast computer and LOTS of helpful knowledge. My biggest mistake is not visiting this site to see what others had to say. Because if I did, I would have never shopped at r-computers. Ed Roth, the owner, was the one who personally helped me with my purchase. Everything sounded great in the beginning, which is the same thing that other yelp reviews has indicated...until something went wrong with the purchase. After that, i was basically abandoned, and any issues I had was blamed on something else, such as my internet usage. I was lied to by Ed Roth, he is not someone to trust. I just recieved an email from Ed at R computer saying my review wasn't fair and since I wrote the original review the first night I got the computer back which was before this unfortunate disaster was rectofied, I feel compelled to tell the whole story. So I got a virus and took it into R-computer on a Monday. Darnell tells me for $200 bucks,the most expensive service, he can have it ready on Wednesday. So I don't get a call that it's ready, so I call around 2pm and I am told to come at closing, it should be ready (6pm). I get there and it isn't going so good, he says he will have to wipe it clean and reinstall windows and all my data. It will be ready on Friday.....I made it very clear that I am one of those guys; I did not have my data backed up and was learning very quickly that I should have done this before. He asked me, "These are all your files right here, right?" as waved the mouse cursor around some file icons. I told him and I quote, "I HAVE PICTURES ON HERE." So Friday rolled around and I called to make sure I didn't drive down there for no reason. It was ready and I took it home and found my pictures gone. We waited painfully all weekend long and took it in on Monday. They said it would take all night and they would do there best to recover any pictures on the hard drive and they would put it on an external hard rive I bought. So I have a jumbelled mess of pictures on this hard drive that I have to go through. No sure what I lost or recovered. The reason for my disatisfaction and my 1 rating is the entire experience. From customer service and attitude of the workers to the protocol and procedures taken that could have possibly prevented thhe mess. I won't say don't go there, but after my experience, enter at your own risk. read more

I'm very happy with the service I received from R Computer. I had been having problems receiving e-mail messages for quite a while, and just putting up with it. My laptop crashed, and I took it to R Computer thinking everything would be lost. Keith was able to transfer all my info to a new laptop, and made it possible to receive e-mail messages again. Keith patiently showed me how to use the new laptop, that now came with Windows 10. I called in with a question, and Ben was able to help me resolve that issue. A virus erased all of my files (8 years of my life) and I had a computer savvy friend try and fix/recover my data but even he was stumped by this newer Trojan's damage. Darnell at R-Computers quoted me $200 to recover the data, reorganize my files, and too scan for spyware. What a deal. He recommended that my friend reformat my computer instead of "suckering" me into paying another $200 for their virus cleaning service. I had my daughter's laptop screen replaced about a year ago which was done well. So when her laptop had a rattle inside and software was running slowly, I naturally brought it here to have them check. A little mixed feeling about this visit. To do software diagnostics, it will run $150 to start. For my middle schooler who is using the laptop for school work only, I decided against spending that to diagnose. But they were very helpful in recommending ways to take care of clean up on my own. The reason for a 4 star was the issue of the rattle. The source of rattle was from a loose screw. But it's outside screw that ended up inside...considering that the only time the laptop was opened was when the screen was replaced, I had to question whether or not it was left in when the screen was replaced. Without denying or acknowledging that fact, I was charged $25 to open the back and take the screw out. However, in the end, he found ways through their promotions to reduce the price to $0. But I did not feel comfortable with the idea that a screw might have been left in initially...and if I didn't speak up, I would have had to pay for it! read more

I had the fortune of bringing two laptops into R Computer over the past month in for repair/consultation. Ben helped me with the first one. I was able to pick it up in a matter of 2 days tops. He called me to tell me what he found, what he recommended and how much exactly I was looking at to fix it. Two weeks later, my newest laptop's screen would not light up. Keith looked it over, diagnosed it, and recommended I seek to get it fixed under the warranty. He knew exactly what was wrong within minutes and did not charge me a cent.
