Baby ribs and yellow rice
Mimi H.

The food was delicious and the lady at the take out area was also very kind and gave positive suggestions. The wait didn't take long, and nice music playing in the back ground and the restroom was also clean I went around lunch time . The food was delicious. I will definitely be back back. The rice was not stuck together and the ribs were tender and moist. The chicken wings full of flavor also. I will definitely be back

Half sticky wings and half crispy wings (no sauce)

The chicken wings and sticky ribs were fresh and hot! The 10 wings and double rack sticky wings were $22.99 EACH. The prices have definitely gone up over the years- which we understand with this economy! Even with the price, the wings are still big and juicy and we still bring leftovers home! Dallas bbq is one of our go-to spot. The reason why I gave it 3 stars is because our server was slow. He disappeared quite a few time when we needed him. Mind you, the restaurant was nowhere near busy when we were there. Because he was MIA, I had to personally get up and find him so he could give us the check. He was nowhere near our eating area. For 20 minutes he was not visible.

Food horrible, gave me bubble guts, Shortage of staff. You can just tell the cooks & staff don't care. The wings are huge!!!!!! I will never come back to this location.

Sticky Wings

Dallas BBQ has always been a family favorite, and I love coming here, especially for the sticky wings...they're unmatched! The flavor, the crispiness, and the fact that they serve full wings (leg and flat included) make them a must order every time. No skimping here, unlike many restaurants nowadays. No wonder they offer a 10 piece option...I could keep eating them forever! That said, this location had its challenges. Service was very slow, though I have to give credit to our waitress. She was trying her best and was running the entire floor by herself, and I appreciated her effort. We were seated in a booth with a rocky table. They came to fix it, but we later realized the issue was actually the uneven floor. Another downside was that the bathroom is located upstairs, and the only elevator was out of order, which meant a disabled person in my party couldn't access the restroom. That was really disappointing and needs to be addressed. Lastly, the drinks took forever to come out. We ended up going to the bar ourselves to buy drinks separately because the wait was just too long. The overall ambiance of the place looked like it was a night club or could be a night club based on the layout. Overall, I'll always love BBQs because of the sticky wings, but I definitely wish the service and accessibility were better at this location.

I always come to this location and I always get great service from the staff. They're very kind and attentive. The food is always to my liking. It's fresh and delicious. I love the drinks. I always get the early bird special 2 for $24.99 which is a great deal. Before 5pm. The ambiance is cool, nice and very spacious.

A lackluster experience all around. Took awhile for a hostess to come to the station for us to be seated. Took awhile for a waiter to come to our table and he just asked if we were ready to order. No drinks first. Very poor service from waiter for our table and almost every table in his sections. Food was ok but nothing great.

I didn't expect a whole lot when eating at Dallas BBQ and that's exactly what I received. The food was okay and so was the atmosphere. I had the Petit Sirloin. I think serving it on a pita bread is a waste of a good steak since the bread absorbs all the juiciness from the steak. The Lil' Onion Loaf was good. The Mac & Cheese, not so much.

I have not been here since before the pandemic. The food is still good, love the onion loaf. Like every thing else the price has gone up. Things that were free now cost. For what they now charge ($3.50) for a piece of cornbread you cans make 3 pans of it yourself. I also had my usual Virgin piña colada which was not good at all. It had a weird taste like bad pineapples or something.

Took my daughter to BBQs for a dinner date. We both ordered the half rack of ribs. Mine came with a baked potato and my daughter got the fries. Our waitress was phenomenal and attentive. Food was decent nothing to rave about honestly due to my ribs being dry. This location is a bit ratchet too. The table across from us was playing loud music from a personal speaker. They were super drunk and loud which made it uncomfortable to enjoy our dinner. Will I be coming back ? Probably but for take out only. Not sure I'd eat in this location again though.

Sticky Wings

I stopped by Dallas BBQ and grabbed an order of their famous Sticky Wings, and they definitely lived up to the name. These wings are huge compared to most spots, and they were really good. Crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside, and the sticky sauce had a solid flavor. I'd definitely recommend the wings if you're looking for something filling and tasty. I'm already planning to come back and try more from the menu. Since I got my food to go, I can't really speak on the dine-in experience or service, but based on the food alone, it's worth checking out.

We stop in for a quick bite to eat most people come here for the wings and they are always on point. A little disappointed about the shrimp and crab cakes. Service was good timely the waitress also was very patient while we decided and created drink drinks. The place is clean. They have TVs for watching sports events. They also have an outside for summertime. Music is cool volume is medium. You can go here with your family, date night or hanging with friends very affordable and they have free parking.

I'm currently at the hospital for food poisoning after being served stale food and the manager refuses to refund me my money. I will be seeking legal action.

I think I officially found my new seafood spot!…read more My boyfriend took me to City Island Lobster House, and the food and service were easily a 5/5. Our waiter, Antonio, was an absolute delight and took great care of us! Fair warning: this place gets PACKED, so be prepared for a wait. One thing I really appreciated, though, was that as soon as our food was ready, they brought it out. Everything arrived HOT and fresh. They start you off with antipasto and garlic bread, and both were SO good. But consider yourself warned pace yourself. We made the rookie mistake of going in a little too hard and were already getting full before our entrées arrived. I mean... you can't go to the Lobster House and not get lobster. I ordered the $49.95 Lobster Clam Bake Special, which came with Maine lobster, mussels, baked clams, corn, clam chowder and dessert. Everything tasted fresh, the portions were generous, and for everything included, I thought it was a great value. My boyfriend ordered the grilled Norwegian salmon, and honestly, his was REALLY good too. Now, if you love garlic like I do, GET THE NOODLES. The linguine in that garlicky olive oil sauce was one of my favorite things on the table. My only miss was the clam chowder. Mine had a lot of potatoes and barely any clams, so I would've liked a much better clam-to-potato ratio. The ice cream cake roll that came with my special, was rich and decadent. Definitely a good way to end the meal. Overall, fresh seafood, generous portions, hot food, great value and wonderful service from Antonio. We will absolutely be back!

I'm a born & raised New Yorker but this is my first time at City Island and I knew I had to do it right by coming to Johnny's Reef. They have a pretty solid system where you order at various stations. It seems confusing at first but is actually super efficient. We got the Fried Shrimp & Fried Red Snapper. Both were so fresh, crispy, and tasted clean. It hit the spot!! Their French fries are also super addicting and fried well while the coleslaw adds a nice freshness to the meal. They have a sauce station where we got cocktail sauce, tartar sauce, and ketchup. These are a must with their fried fish! The Fried Red Snapper was fried nicely as well. It was done to the point where it was crispy on the outside but not dry on the inside. The fish with a little spritz of lemon was spectacular. We also got the Henny Colada to try and honestly, they are heavy-handed with the Henny! I personally would just get the piña colada next time since it was super refreshing and not too sweet but if you're looking for a slight buzz, the Henny Colada will do you right. All in all, I was unbelievably satisfied after this meal and so glad this gem exists! Tons of seating both inside and outside, and don't forget to bring cash!

Cuisine: 7 Service: 6…read moreDecor: 7 Value: 7 Overall: 7 After having a wonderful Italian lunch on Arthur Avenue with my family this past Sunday, we visited the Met Cloisters and then decided on some seafood for dinner. Whenever I'm in City Island, this cafeteria style restaurant is one of my favorite places to grab some seafood with a beautiful view of the blue waters on a sunny day. My favorite items were the freshly shucked cherrystone and littleneck clams (dozen for $15), jumbo shrimp cocktail (6 for $14), and the fried soft shell crab (5-6 small ones w/out the head). These have always been my go to items here, and remain the best Johnny's Reef has to offer. Their fried scallops (about 18 pieces for $25) are tender, but I do wish the batter was crispier. I did not enjoy the doughy fried oysters (about 15 pieces for $28) or the dry fried whiting (huge piece w/ bone for $18). Btw, neither the Manhattan or New England clam chowder ($7 each) had any clam flavor. If I stick to what I like here and order simply those items, then it would be a very satisfying meal for a reasonable price. When I want a casual seafood meal on City Island, this is still my top choice.

The garlic bread was absolutely divine--each piece bursting with the aroma of fresh garlic and infused with a silky finish of premium olive oil. It's the kind of bread that sets the perfect tone for the meal to come. The star of the evening was undoubtedly the stuffed flounder. This beautifully prepared fillet showcased the chef's skill, generously filled with succulent crab meat that complemented the delicate, flaky fish perfectly. Every bite was a harmonious blend of flavors that melted on the palate. Accompanying the flounder was a baked potato that deserves its own praise. Tender, smooth, and perfectly seasoned, it had a wonderful buttery texture that paired beautifully with the main course. I also indulged in the fried shrimp, which arrived golden and crispy. The accompanying sauce elevated the dish to another level entirely--perfectly balanced and expertly crafted to enhance rather than overpower the natural sweetness of the shrimp. The french fries were equally impressive: crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. JP's has earned a loyal customer in me. Every element of this meal demonstrated care, quality, and culinary expertise. Highly recommended for anyone seeking exceptional seafood on City Island. Sea Shore doesn't serve Tomato Soup, so why is it in my bowl? I had two spoonfuls and asked for it to go. Mind you, I enjoy a good bowl of tomato soup, but I was looking forward to Lobster Bisque. After some thought, I threw the soup away. It wasn't worth my efforts to redeem. As for the rest of our orders, the consensus was the same, food lacking seasoning. Just a heavy dousing of flavorless Paprika for show. Your ordered meal should be prepared properly, especially at these exorbitant prices. The bill for 5.5 of us was just shy of $700.00, and 1.5 of us didn't have an alcoholic beverage. I'm fully aware of CI's prices, but generally we'll receive a more than decent meal to match. Poor service, mixed up orders, filet of sole sitting in a pool of water. I'm done! If the choice is Sea Shore for next year's first week of July birthday celebration, l will not be attending. And, I'll make my own Lobster Bisque. Thank you.
