    Charcoal Chicken on the Grill
    Shoshana R.

One of those local neighborhood spots where you just accept them for who they are. Small location, hard to park, not much seating, weird decor, questionable customer service at times, long lines, and you may even witness peculiar food prep once in a while. However, as long as you don't see anything out right gross you disregard it all... You Bless your food and enjoy the reason you even tolerated it all in the first place... the Charcoal Grilled Chicken cooked on the open grill as soon as you entered. Mouthwatering, juicy, flavorful, and tender are some of the great reasons that made you tolerate the hiccups in the first place. I don't eat red meat so I only order their tasty chicken which comes with warm grilled pita bread. I've tried the mashed potatoes and side salad once, they did the job. Anything else on the menu I didn't come here for so I really can't give an opinion. Side note: Always wondered if they had any association with the chirping chickens in the city... probably not bc menus are so different.

Although this place is a "chain" it's pretty good. Not Popeye's good, though. Meals such as a quarter or half chicken meals come with sides and a pita. These are a bargain for lunch. The menu also includes chicken cutlets, chicken fingers, chicken sandwiches, fried shrimps, fish fillets, and hamburgers. You'll also find sides (mash potatoes, corn, stuffing, standard fare) and salads. If you want to buy food for a group, you can buy a whole chicken and bunch of ribs to take home. The baby back ribs are grilled in front of you and brushed a few times with BBQ sauce. Juicy. 12/5/07 UPDATE: I felt lazy and didn't want to cook. I ordered a #3 meal for carry out, which consisted of a whole chicken, full rack of ribs, 3 sides and a few pitas. I chose lemon potatoes, rice & beans and corn. I also asked for a side of large fries. Damn I'm fat. My brother, wife and I enjoyed the grub, along with leftovers. I received a complimentary 2008 (sport tuned Hondas) calendar and magnet. Wow Move over Dallas BBQ, this is one diamond in the rough, there baby back ribs are to die for. Me and my beloved placed and order and we did not know that it would be mind changing, meat just melt in your mouth, taste and the sweet BBQ sauce was just right not to biter and not to sweet. The corn ,lemon potato and Mac was on the money. I have tried many others but I feel that I have found the holy Grail of, BBQ. Love it.

About the dirtiest grilled chicken I've ever had ...almost as if they used it to clean the grill. Had to throw it away..Never again!

Which consisted of rib eyes steak, baby back ribs and shrimp. The steak was nothing to write home about and I probably wouldn't order it again. The baby back ribs were just ok. However, the fried shrimp were excellent. They were golden brown, crispy and flavorful. The cornbread was good as well. Sweet and savory. I had it the next morning with coffee. The portion sizes are big and you can eat at least two meals out of it. As for the drinks I had a seltzer water with lemon. It tasted awful like the fountain wasn't cleaned. I also had a Long Island iced tea. Which was really good and gave me a buzz. If I go back here it will be for the cornbread the shrimp.

He had a boot on since he tore his Achilles and was using crutches. We went in 4/27 around 8ish at night. The manager who was on site this day DOES NOT need to be working at a restaurant. What an absolute ***** fill in the blank as you wish. They tried to sit 6 of us in this tiny little corner and we kindly asked if we could be placed somewhere where my dad could spread his legs out a bit more. This guy didn't even let us finish our sentence and RUDELY escorted us and to another table where he we began talking to him AGAIN AND HE RUDELY cut us off and walked away from us again. Gave us the biggest attitude, pointed to the table and left as if we were bothering him. I asked our waiter if he was a manager and shared my complaints with him because well if that's the manager and he acts like that, then I could only imagine him if we approached and confronted his behavior. I will never be back to this BBQs ever and whoever that guy is definitely needs a couple lessons in service. As someone who used to work as a waitress herself, I was completely baffled at his attitude especially since we were just trying to accommodate our dad who I must repeat was IN A BOOT AND CRUTCHES. Wish I would've gotten his name but absolutely left a terrible taste in my mouth about this place. Thankfully our server was very nice and made up for that man's unpleasantness.

I've never had Filipino food before and decided on the Loaded Steak Fries. It was freshly made as I waited and the server (owner?) was wonderfully friendly. I brought it home to eat and it was truly tasty and delicious- and amazingly was still hot despite the 20 minute journey. My only complaint is that I found it to be extremely salty - and I do not shy away from salt in my food.

Friday evening was my last chance as they were nearing the end of their stay at Cross County Mall... I didn't want to wait for the last day. The gentleman behind the counter was not all that friendly nor engaging, but for good food I'd interact with a rabid pit bull so that was not a deal breaker but not a great start. Trouble started when everything I ordered they were out of. Out of Chicken Adobo? The Philippine national dish? How? I took what they had and paid the man, who reluctantly admitted he didn't prep much as Sunday was his last day. Still not acceptable but at least I understood. The dishes are filling, you won't go hungry. I lived in a community that had a large population of Philippine people so I am familiar with the food. This was hit or miss. Lotta rice to fill you up and would have preferred more protein. Orders are $17 each. The loaded fries were outstanding, the Hawaii chicken a bit too saucy and the pork was good. I didn't get to have the dishes I wanted so I was judging the food on things I didn't really crave... but it wasn't bad. I just wasn't wowed. I would like to try this again sometime but I'm not dying to go out of my way. It's probably a 3.5 not a 4.

Throw on that white sauce and hot sauce, and you've got yourself a comfort meal that hits the spot at any hour. Portions are generous, and prices are very reasonable -- especially for NYC. I had a very disappointing experience with Chicken vs Lamb and won't be ordering again…read more My order was handled poorly from the start--food was left sitting instead of being given to the delivery driver who was already there, and parts of my order were missing. The food also didn't match what was advertised. I ordered a salad expecting what was shown on the menu, but received slimy arugula, strong-smelling feta, and dry grape tomatoes. When I brought it up, I was told the system has been like this for "2 months," yet the online and in-person menus are still not updated and don't match Uber Eats or what is actually served. The chicken over rice was overly sauced and served cold, and the photos online are outdated and misleading. When I tried to address the issue, I was told to "just take the tomatoes off," which didn't solve the problem since that wasn't what I ordered. The staff was also dismissive and rushed the conversation, making it feel like the issue was being blamed on me. Overall, there's a lack of consistency, poor communication, and misleading menu information. I won't be ordering again. I'd recommend Space Grill instead--the food is much better, though they close around 11pm.
