    Fried Twinkie

I was in the Bronx and wanted ribs so my friends and I ordered a full rack, some brisket, Mac and cheese, Brussels sprouts, and wings. Service was friendly and personable. And our bbq cravings were not disappointed. The meat was moist, flavorful, and fell apart easily. This BBQ place satisfied every craving we had for bbq. We also ordered fried Oreos, banana pudding and fried twinkies. The fried twinkies took us by complete surprise -like a funnel-cake on crack... the meal and desserts were so comforting and indulgent on this cold winter's work day. The ambiance was casual as appropriate for this type of food with plenty of paper towels and wet wipes.

Amazing buffalo wings & cornbread - now my fav of both in NYC

Wow - was on my way somewhere else for lunch & stumbled into their hickory smoke wafting down Bruckner Boulevard, & immediately changed my plans. DEF the right move ! They are now part of the pantheon of top Texas-style smoked BBQ places in NYC. The brisket was done perfectly, & was not too salty. The buffalo wings were also amazing - they get some smoke & some zesty spices before they get hit w/ the buffalo sauce - they are now prob tied for my fav buffalo wings in the city. They also have some crazy beer pouring contraption which guarantees perfect pours - I just wish they had a German pils. Very clean & nice inside, & very friendly staff. They are also next to an amazing bookstore - The Lit Bar - which also has a wine bar in the back (?!), & which is somehow the Bronx's only bookstore ?!? The cornbread here is also AWESOME don't sleep on it! Can't wait to come back again next time I'm in the area. Only compliant - this area has gotten very hot, & not easy to park around here.

We went to Hudson Smokehouse on Saturday. The food was good for the most part. Some of the ribblets were hard, the pastrami was so good, the cheddar sausage was good, The potato salad had to much mustard but was good. You had to go to the counter and order your food but they brought you your food and your drink. The ambiance was quiet and clean. The only thing I didn't like was the smoke smell left in my hair and clothes.

The hog - brisket, pulled pork and brussel sprouts with cornbread

I was craving some meat in Mott Haven and noticed this restaurant as we were walking. It had a decent rating and I haven't had American BBQ in a while. So, we walked in with expectations low. Food: 3.5/5 I ordered the hog combo (2 meats + 1 side) for $26 (after tip and card fee around $34) with brisket and pulled pork. I appreciated that gave me lean and fatty brisket but, the pulled pork was absent any sauce so very dry. There are sauces on the table but, I am used to it being already covered in a sauce to keep the pork moist and tender. I ordered the brussel sprouts for my side which were swimming is a maple and cinnamon sauce with walnuts and cranberries. I gave my combo 3/5. My partner ordered the same combo but with burnt ends and turkey. I will admit, the turkey was very tender and will probably order that next time. He ordered the mac and cheese and that was okay (no cheese pull). My partner really enjoyed their combo and would give it 4/5. All in all, I have had better American style BBQ but, this is one of the few options in the South Bronx and it is not bad. It is not too far from the train so I may come back.

I went to Hudson Smokehouse tonight and was sadly a bit disappointed with the food. My partner and I ordered the 3 meat weekend special with rib tips, wings, and brisket, and a side of collard greens, Mac and cheese, and cornbread. All of the meat was on the dry end and the sides were almost inedible. The Mac and cheese tasted very artificial and almost had a plastic after taste while the collard greens were better but definitely lacking depth of flavor. The one redeeming part of our meal was the cornbread. Truly 10/10! We also ordered drinks (the passion fruit sangria and mango margarita) and both were good and decently well-balanced. Hospitality and atmosphere were also great!

Great space, loved the food and the service, came in hungry and got FED!!!!! Had my beer and just relaxed. No bad reviews, great open space, the vibes were great and the food was hot, plated quickly and I was ready.

Went for the first time during the taste of Mott haven and I've been thinking about this brisket since! I've walked by the place a few times and never went in and I'm upset with myself I hadn't! However that will change and I'll definitely be back to enjoy this place!

My friends picked this up for dinner and it was my first time for my bf and I. We liked their ribs but we def. didn't like their Mac & cheese. Totally didn't taste like baked Mac & Cheese! I was told that their burgers and henny wings are pretty good and their drinks are strong! Overall we liked their food! I would def. like to try a burger and wings from here along with a drink the next time I order!

Nice Americans eatery. American BBQ places are hard to find in the Bronx with the others Johnson BBQ place near me. And the two Dallas BBQs. I usually order the turkey, but this time I'm going for the briskets.

Which consisted of rib eyes steak, baby back ribs and shrimp. The steak was nothing to write home about and I probably wouldn't order it again. The baby back ribs were just ok. However, the fried shrimp were excellent. They were golden brown, crispy and flavorful. The cornbread was good as well. Sweet and savory. I had it the next morning with coffee. The portion sizes are big and you can eat at least two meals out of it. As for the drinks I had a seltzer water with lemon. It tasted awful like the fountain wasn't cleaned. I also had a Long Island iced tea. Which was really good and gave me a buzz. If I go back here it will be for the cornbread the shrimp.

He had a boot on since he tore his Achilles and was using crutches. We went in 4/27 around 8ish at night. The manager who was on site this day DOES NOT need to be working at a restaurant. What an absolute ***** fill in the blank as you wish. They tried to sit 6 of us in this tiny little corner and we kindly asked if we could be placed somewhere where my dad could spread his legs out a bit more. This guy didn't even let us finish our sentence and RUDELY escorted us and to another table where he we began talking to him AGAIN AND HE RUDELY cut us off and walked away from us again. Gave us the biggest attitude, pointed to the table and left as if we were bothering him. I asked our waiter if he was a manager and shared my complaints with him because well if that's the manager and he acts like that, then I could only imagine him if we approached and confronted his behavior. I will never be back to this BBQs ever and whoever that guy is definitely needs a couple lessons in service. As someone who used to work as a waitress herself, I was completely baffled at his attitude especially since we were just trying to accommodate our dad who I must repeat was IN A BOOT AND CRUTCHES. Wish I would've gotten his name but absolutely left a terrible taste in my mouth about this place. Thankfully our server was very nice and made up for that man's unpleasantness.

I tried calling the one on Crescent Ave but got no answer after having the phone ring for a while. But I decided to go with this location because Crescent said 9 p.m., and this one said 10 p.m. The location is on a busy street. We did get Lyft, so that wasn't an issue for us. But you might have to walk a bit if there's no parking. It's spacious outside when you first enter, and there are two sides to be seated. We were seated right away and given menus. The decor is cute, and the wall artwork is colorful and lovely. Great music was playing late at night. We did arrive after 8:30, more like 8:45ish. They were out of something we wanted to order, but the server, I think, his green apron, said Juan. I'm not sure if he said his name at the time. As I said, we were hungry, which was the main focus, not to mention arriving before they closed. The appetizers were delicious. I suggest getting two if you have a big group because three pieces on a plate are insufficient for four people. The food came out promptly, everything was delicious, and we enjoyed every bite. I hope to return and get the name of what we ordered. I'll use that as an excuse to return because everything looked good on the menu. I know we got Chicharron, flan, and tres leche, but the names of the dishes Yes, I could look at the menu, which I took a picture of, but I would prefer to go back

I've never had Filipino food before and decided on the Loaded Steak Fries. It was freshly made as I waited and the server (owner?) was wonderfully friendly. Friday evening was my last chance as they were nearing the end of their stay at Cross County Mall... I didn't want to wait for the last day. The gentleman behind the counter was not all that friendly nor engaging, but for good food I'd interact with a rabid pit bull so that was not a deal breaker but not a great start. Trouble started when everything I ordered they were out of. Out of Chicken Adobo? The Philippine national dish? How? I took what they had and paid the man, who reluctantly admitted he didn't prep much as Sunday was his last day. Still not acceptable but at least I understood. The dishes are filling, you won't go hungry. I lived in a community that had a large population of Philippine people so I am familiar with the food. This was hit or miss. Lotta rice to fill you up and would have preferred more protein. Orders are $17 each. The loaded fries were outstanding, the Hawaii chicken a bit too saucy and the pork was good. I didn't get to have the dishes I wanted so I was judging the food on things I didn't really crave... but it wasn't bad. I just wasn't wowed. I would like to try this again sometime but I'm not dying to go out of my way. It's probably a 3.5 not a 4.
