Half and half Flavours: crispy fried (ie. plain) and soy garlic Boneless +$1
Rachel L.

My favourite part of this restaurant is the private backyard patio. The service was considerate, checking on us several times whether we were cold and moved the heater closer to us. The atmosphere makes the experience causal yet cozy. Compared to other Korean fried chicken restaurants, the variety of flavours and non chicken dishes is much less. However, the flavours offered were delicious and done well. The chicken was neither too oily nor too dry. A whole chicken along with a side of kimchi fries was a good amount of food for two people. The pineapple soju is usually a rare find, so I was glad they have it here. Overall, I had a great experience but would like to see more options on the menu. The pandemic safety protocols were handled well. Upon asking for a table, I was immediately asked to present my ID and vaccine receipt. The seats outdoors were all socially distanced and barriers were installed between booths for indoor dining. Servers were wearing masks at all times.

I love this place! The atmosphere is so fun and lively. It's a great place to go for drinks or a quick eats with a group of friends or even a first date. It's not so intimate where you feel nervous. The food was amazing too, we ordered the rice cakes in spicy sauce and the fried chicken. Which came out in such big portions me and my date got full and didn't break the bank. Next time I'm here I definitely want to order a bottle of soju and enjoy the drinking atmosphere a little more!

I visited Dakgogi for the first time with some friends over the summer. When we arrived, they took our temperature and contact info. We then headed to their patio area.  ---  We had their Soy Garlic Chicken (whole) and Spicy Tteokbokki. I really liked their chicken but found it was a bit soggy compared to other ones I've eaten. Other than that, it was pretty good and definitely filling. Their tteokbokki wasn't as spicy as I expected. I don't have a super high tolerance for spice but I was able to handle the spice. It was nice and chewy too!    I left the restaurant with a full and happy stomach. They are a bit on the pricey side but the food was worth it. Hoping to visit again when things get better. Note: I went here when we could still dine in. Follow @debeats_ for more Korean fried chicken restaurant recommendations

I absolutely love Korean fried chicken. Me and my buddies always walk by this place and have never been. We got the boneless fried chicken - half and half of sweet and garlic soy. The sides are a bit over priced - like $12 for corn and mayo? Damn haha. I found the food a bit cold to be honest but it was still very tasty and had a nice crunch. Unfortunately I've been to other fried chicken places at the same price point so I wasn't too impressed with meals.

My new favourite Korean fried chicken place! I love how the chicken are tender, juicy and full of flavour. This place is definitely running the restaurant bar vibe and the service is awesome! I came with a Korean friend and to make sure I know exactly the conversation that is being exchanged, the server switched her language channel to English while talking to me and repeating the order before placing it.

We tried R2 . Spicy seafood noodle. It's not bad. The seafood amount is about reasonable. The error taste is not too spicy . Noodle firmness is about medium. I would love to go back and try something else

I visited on a Friday night at about 8 p.m. we did not have to wait for a table the service was really slow we did have to ask the server to enter a table so we can place our order We ordered the half and half chicken why do was the hot sauce garlic sauce and then the other unfortunately I forgot to what it was called we also ordered the Kimichi fries some sort of seaweed rice fried dumplings and I was for three people Shortly after getting our food we maybe eight One Wing they had asked us to move tables because they had a reservation coming in which was really awkward because we are in the middle of eating and now they want us to pick up and move after we were finished nobody came to take our plates and we had to ask for a points to be moved and for our bill Overall the chicken was crispy they weren't exactly chicken wings summer wings and summer pieces of chicken the hot sauce garlic was too salty for me I did not like it the red sauce chicken I did enjoy the fries were really good as well and the dumplings were delicious

More of a 3.5. The biggest plus for this place is how late it's open until. We arrived pretty late on a Friday and it was nearly full. The best thing we got were the season fries - probably one of the best compared to all kfc places. The cheese corn I found a bit burnt. The chicken was good but i did find a few pieces that seemed undercooked and not as breaded as i like. It's not the best kfc place but still a good option.

Who doesn't love fried chicken? Dakgogi is the place to go for korean fried chicken. Sauces were delicious! We got take out due to the lockdown. It's not the same as eating the chicken fresh out of the kitchen in person. it was still very tasty. However It is quite pricey even with 20% pick up special and they gave us a lot of random pieces of the chicken like the neck etc. Overall it was good.

Kimchi fries with mayo, sour cream and egg
Milly L.

We liked the kimchi fries much more than the fried chicken! Sunny side up egg with mayo and a side of sour cream to balance out the kimchi, and followed by fries..Mmm But we weren't a fan of the fried chicken which is what we came to try. The soy garlic sauce is good but way too much batter. They had a list of beer to choose but they actually only have Canadian available...

If you enjoy Korean Fried Chicken, this is a good place to try. Usually very busy in the evenings so be prepared to wait a bit. The past few times I've ordered the boneless fried chicken but this time ordered the bone-in full chicken in two flavors Garlic Soy and Spicy. Chicken pieces are very generous portions and meat was very tender. They offer complimentary dish of cabbage dressed in thousand island sauce with your order. There's plenty of Korean Fried Chicken options in the area but one of the few short list ones I go to. Nice bar type environment so you can enjoy your chicken with some nice refreshing booze to top it off. A must try!

Seafood Ddukbokki, Yang Nyeom Chicken, and pickled radish
Andy L.

We were walking around the area and decided to give them a try based solely on the look of the restaurant. I didn't know anything about them going in, except that they had Korean Fried Chicken. The interior is a bit noisy, and a lot of people were there for drinks giving it a bar/pub feel. TVs line either side and had a mix of Sportsnet and Kpop videos on. Tables are a bit close for my liking and the overall lighting is dim. We ordered a half-order of Yang Nyeom Chicken ($17.99) and a Seafood Ddukbokki ($17) with noodles ($3). They gave us a small bowl of pickled radish as an appetizer. The chicken was delicious, with the meat still moist and the coating still crispy. The sauce is thick, sweet, and spicy as described. The Seafood Ddukbokki was pretty big, full of shrimp, mussels, thin fish cakes, instant noodles, and of course the ddukbokki. Fair warning, I found it too spicy. I managed to eat one bowl before having to give up. Thankfully I was already pretty full from the chicken, so we took the seafood to go. Overall, I think the food was great, service was normal, ambience wasn't quite my cup of tea, and pricing was a bit too high for me to come back often. Maybe next time I want to go drinking/bar hopping I'll drop by - place seems perfect for that.

Spicy Dakbal (Chicken Feet)
Roseanne N.

This is probably my favourite spot in the city for Korean fried chicken. The food here is consistently delicious and I always love their daily specials. We came here on a Tuesday night. On Tuesdays, they have 1/2 priced wings. We wanted to feast on everything chicken and ordered Spicy Dakbal (chicken feet), Rice Balls, Sweet Chicken Wings, and a half order of Yang Nyeom Chicken. The chicken feet was served with two rice balls. They also provide you with gloves and a waste bin for the bones. On the side a bowl of watery sauce is given for you to dip the chicken feet in (although I didn't really use it). The chicken feet was heated in a pan over a stove at your table. I loved the sweet and spicy flavour of the feet. It's one of my favourite dishes here. I ordered another side of rice balls to compliment with the spicy chicken feet. It definitely helps when things get real spicy. The chicken wings were big and had lots of meat. I loved the sweet and tangy sauce that covered the wings. The same sauce was used on the Yang Nyeom chicken. I felt like the fried chicken was fried nice and crispy. Service today was a bit slow. Customers slowly started to line up as the evening hours drew on. They need to pick up the pace or hire more staff in the dining area.

We were lured in through some mail in ads that showcased their daily specials. which are pretty great. When we were there it was $15 for a burger with a side and a pint of beer or $2 less for pop. We each got one of those and ordered a lb of wings to share as well. They serve wings in the original format which is less breaded and the breaded version is bigger and more crispy and maybe caloric. We opted original for the wings and fries. For our burgers, we went for veggie sticks and an upgraded bowl of salad to balance out the meal. I'm just surprised that the greens were super fresh for a bar. I'm so used to crappy old salads from a pubs. Burgers were nice and juicy. Wings are as consistent as I last remembered it. The server even allowed me to customize a sauce blend because it wasn't too busy that night. We even peeked at their drink menu and cocktails are like only $8 something and it's regular price. Overall great experience.

Both are non-negotiable and always hit. We still like to switch it up sometimes, and this visit we tried a few different dishes: * Kataifi-Wrapped prawn tempura: crunchy, and the wasabi mayo was my favorite part. * Nagasaki Champon with ramen: cozy and comforting. * Grilled Squid with butter: simple and done right * Beef Brisket Yaki Soba: savory and satisfying, with bonito flakes doing their little dance on top. * Karaage: coming from someone who doesn't love greasy food, this one was not greasy at all and still juicy inside. Lowkey missing their grilled beef intestine though Great highball selection as well. We got the peach highball for the one who likes sweet, and the yuzu highball for the one who likes sour. I went with the Snow beer Sapporo, topped with shaved frozen beer. Such a nice way to keep the beer cold without diluting it. Service here has always been amazing, whether they're busy or not, and that's a big reason why I keep coming back.

Out of the dishes we ordered, my favourite would be: grill pork belly, taro chips, yaki soba, and the fried shrimp prawn. If you want some chewy squid, then you could order the squid. The sauce tasted good but I could imagine cooking it to its perfection is hard, especially when the izakaya was actually pretty full due to the beer happy hour! The other issue would be finding a parking space. Otherwise, I would love to come back again.

The food here accompanied me through the pandemic pretty much. I thought about it the other day, so I brought my mom back here to dine in. My mom really likes a Vietnamese pork chop, so I want to see if she would enjoy the Filipino charcoal-grilled version of it (she rarely had any Filipino food in her life). We ordered the BBQ grill platter with rice and four tacos to share since our visit was on a Tuesday. So, we actually didn't enjoy the tacos as much. The jerk chicken had an unexpected vinegar flavour (it was more like a chicken adobo), and the other chicken was served as popcorn chicken with spicy mayo. I was not the biggest fan, I have to say. The fish and beef tacos were better than the chicken ones, but there was nothing too special about them. The grilled platter was the hit, though--to me, grilled meat and dishes are always the signature of limitless. The meats were full of charcoal flavour. The pork chop & the skrewers were lean yet fragrant without being overly greasy (like many other restaurants). They went super well with rice. I was hoping that they would serve the raisin coleslaw tho--those were great back then, lol. I bet the Kamayan feast at Limitless would be worth a try. I imagine the patio must be great in the summer. Yonge Street is close by, but Canadians become immune to carbon monoxide is summer because we throng to any outoor space, and rhe patio is further back than many downtown Toronto patios. The vibe inside is "moneyed gastropub". Glass and wood and UK heritage. The menu is huge, so a bit of a red lag, and more like a chain pub than a gastropub. FIghting off my PTSD from the last time I ordered a non-deep fried fish from a pub, I ordered the salmon with a side of mashed potatoes. The server seemed a bit nervous, so I ran down my mental checklist. Shaved in the morning? Check. Showered? Check. Wearing clothes? Check. However, she was efficient, so no real complaints. The salmon arrived with a surprisingly nice presentation. It didn't smell like fish, so my PTSD subsided. It was a bit bland at the start, but as I got further in, the seasoning on top were quite pleasent. The peppers underneath were from frozen, and the mashed potatoes were from flakes, but it wasn't bad. Prices were at the level of any GTA gastropub. I imiagine this place is really popular with the locals, especially in summer. I can't say it's a destination, though, as there are so many pubs with the same design choices and vibe to choose from, and some have limited menus to focus on what the chef does best.
