My favourite part of this restaurant is the private backyard patio. The service was considerate, checking on us several times whether we were cold and moved the heater closer to us. The atmosphere makes the experience causal yet cozy. Compared to other Korean fried chicken restaurants, the variety of flavours and non chicken dishes is much less. However, the flavours offered were delicious and done well. The chicken was neither too oily nor too dry. A whole chicken along with a side of kimchi fries was a good amount of food for two people. The pineapple soju is usually a rare find, so I was glad they have it here. Overall, I had a great experience but would like to see more options on the menu. The pandemic safety protocols were handled well. Upon asking for a table, I was immediately asked to present my ID and vaccine receipt. The seats outdoors were all socially distanced and barriers were installed between booths for indoor dining. Servers were wearing masks at all times.
I love this place! The atmosphere is so fun and lively. It's a great place to go for drinks or a quick eats with a group of friends or even a first date. It's not so intimate where you feel nervous. The food was amazing too, we ordered the rice cakes in spicy sauce and the fried chicken. Which came out in such big portions me and my date got full and didn't break the bank. Next time I'm here I definitely want to order a bottle of soju and enjoy the drinking atmosphere a little more!
I visited Dakgogi for the first time with some friends over the summer. When we arrived, they took our temperature and contact info. We then headed to their patio area. --- We had their Soy Garlic Chicken (whole) and Spicy Tteokbokki. I really liked their chicken but found it was a bit soggy compared to other ones I've eaten. Other than that, it was pretty good and definitely filling. Their tteokbokki wasn't as spicy as I expected. I don't have a super high tolerance for spice but I was able to handle the spice. It was nice and chewy too! I left the restaurant with a full and happy stomach. They are a bit on the pricey side but the food was worth it. Hoping to visit again when things get better. I absolutely love Korean fried chicken. Me and my buddies always walk by this place and have never been. We got the boneless fried chicken - half and half of sweet and garlic soy. The sides are a bit over priced - like $12 for corn and mayo? Damn haha. I found the food a bit cold to be honest but it was still very tasty and had a nice crunch. Unfortunately I've been to other fried chicken places at the same price point so I wasn't too impressed with meals.
We tried R2 . Spicy seafood noodle. It's not bad. The seafood amount is about reasonable. The error taste is not too spicy . Noodle firmness is about medium. I would love to go back and try something else
My new favourite Korean fried chicken place! I love how the chicken are tender, juicy and full of flavour. This place is definitely running the restaurant bar vibe and the service is awesome! I came with a Korean friend and to make sure I know exactly the conversation that is being exchanged, the server switched her language channel to English while talking to me and repeating the order before placing it.
I visited on a Friday night at about 8 p.m. we did not have to wait for a table the service was really slow we did have to ask the server to enter a table so we can place our order We ordered the half and half chicken why do was the hot sauce garlic sauce and then the other unfortunately I forgot to what it was called we also ordered the Kimichi fries some sort of seaweed rice fried dumplings and I was for three people Shortly after getting our food we maybe eight One Wing they had asked us to move tables because they had a reservation coming in which was really awkward because we are in the middle of eating and now they want us to pick up and move after we were finished nobody came to take our plates and we had to ask for a points to be moved and for our bill Overall the chicken was crispy they weren't exactly chicken wings summer wings and summer pieces of chicken the hot sauce garlic was too salty for me I did not like it the red sauce chicken I did enjoy the fries were really good as well and the dumplings were delicious
Who doesn't love fried chicken? Dakgogi is the place to go for korean fried chicken. Sauces were delicious! We got take out due to the lockdown. It's not the same as eating the chicken fresh out of the kitchen in person. it was still very tasty. However It is quite pricey even with 20% pick up special and they gave us a lot of random pieces of the chicken like the neck etc. Overall it was good.
We liked the kimchi fries much more than the fried chicken! Sunny side up egg with mayo and a side of sour cream to balance out the kimchi, and followed by fries..Mmm But we weren't a fan of the fried chicken which is what we came to try. The soy garlic sauce is good but way too much batter. They had a list of beer to choose but they actually only have Canadian available...
More of a 3.5. The biggest plus for this place is how late it's open until. We arrived pretty late on a Friday and it was nearly full. The best thing we got were the season fries - probably one of the best compared to all kfc places. The cheese corn I found a bit burnt. The chicken was good but i did find a few pieces that seemed undercooked and not as breaded as i like. It's not the best kfc place but still a good option.

The past few times I've ordered the boneless fried chicken but this time ordered the bone-in full chicken in two flavors Garlic Soy and Spicy. Chicken pieces are very generous portions and meat was very tender. They offer complimentary dish of cabbage dressed in thousand island sauce with your order. There's plenty of Korean Fried Chicken options in the area but one of the few short list ones I go to. Nice bar type environment so you can enjoy your chicken with some nice refreshing booze to top it off. A must try!
We were walking around the area and decided to give them a try based solely on the look of the restaurant. I didn't know anything about them going in, except that they had Korean Fried Chicken. The interior is a bit noisy, and a lot of people were there for drinks giving it a bar/pub feel. TVs line either side and had a mix of Sportsnet and Kpop videos on. Tables are a bit close for my liking and the overall lighting is dim. We ordered a half-order of Yang Nyeom Chicken ($17.99) and a Seafood Ddukbokki ($17) with noodles ($3). They gave us a small bowl of pickled radish as an appetizer. The chicken was delicious, with the meat still moist and the coating still crispy. The sauce is thick, sweet, and spicy as described. The Seafood Ddukbokki was pretty big, full of shrimp, mussels, thin fish cakes, instant noodles, and of course the ddukbokki. Fair warning, I found it too spicy. I managed to eat one bowl before having to give up. Thankfully I was already pretty full from the chicken, so we took the seafood to go. Overall, I think the food was great, service was normal, ambience wasn't quite my cup of tea, and pricing was a bit too high for me to come back often. Maybe next time I want to go drinking/bar hopping I'll drop by - place seems perfect for that.
This is probably my favourite spot in the city for Korean fried chicken. The food here is consistently delicious and I always love their daily specials. We came here on a Tuesday night. On Tuesdays, they have 1/2 priced wings. We wanted to feast on everything chicken and ordered Spicy Dakbal (chicken feet), Rice Balls, Sweet Chicken Wings, and a half order of Yang Nyeom Chicken. The chicken feet was served with two rice balls. They also provide you with gloves and a waste bin for the bones. On the side a bowl of watery sauce is given for you to dip the chicken feet in (although I didn't really use it). The chicken feet was heated in a pan over a stove at your table. I loved the sweet and spicy flavour of the feet. It's one of my favourite dishes here. I ordered another side of rice balls to compliment with the spicy chicken feet. It definitely helps when things get real spicy. The chicken wings were big and had lots of meat. I loved the sweet and tangy sauce that covered the wings. The same sauce was used on the Yang Nyeom chicken. I felt like the fried chicken was fried nice and crispy. Service today was a bit slow. Customers slowly started to line up as the evening hours drew on. They need to pick up the pace or hire more staff in the dining area.
Came for dinner after they had reopened, and had an okay experience. My husband and I ordered their half and half chicken with hot soy garlic and yangnyum medium, and a soju cocktail. Their cocktail is delicious and a great value, it can easily be shared with a larger group. Their chicken was okay, it came with small pieces that did not have a lot of meat. The batter and sauces were good, they were actually spicy. Overall, I might just come here for drinks, wouldn't go out of my way to get the chicken here again. read more
6 years since my least review! I went back recently with a friend and I can say nothing really has changed from the last time I went here. The spicy pork kimchi fries still was delicious, chicken was still crunchy + saucy and dukbokki was still chewy. I would go back just for the spicy pork kimchi fries and I don't really eat pork as well so it says a lot! Only downside is that since it is Korean fried chicken, prices are not as cheap. read more

We ordered a whole chicken with two flavours: padak and yang nyeom. If you want boneless it's $1 extra. (The padak comes boneless). I liked the slight spiciness of the yang nyeom. The sauce was likely drizzled on top so not all pieces of chicken have sauce but just a bit. My dinner companions said there was a fruity taste to the padak but I couldn't taste that. I'm surprised that 3 people could not finish a whole chicken. We got the rest in a takeaway container. FYI there is a patio out back and Tuesday is wing night. read more

This Korean Fried Chicken is really great. Got Combo 1: half & half plus your choice of a pitcher or soju. We went with a pitcher of Sapporo, and the original fried chicken and the yang nyeom (medium hot) and if you can't handle spice I'd suggest going with sweet. Either way both delicious, the white meat was tasty and juicy! I've had fried chicken of all kinds, all over and this is definitely a top competitor in terms of Korean fried chicken! Service is pretty good and attentive, the place is small and cozy, definitely clean. Great place to go with friends for a meal that you don't mind getting messy with! Usually I go to St. Louis on Tuesdays for 1/2 price wings. This time I decided to check this place out instead. I'm so glad that I did so! I was going to order the hot wings but the waitress told me that they are too hot so I changed my order to honey garlic. Wings are lightly breaded, fresh, and delicious. Comes with a side of light, crispy fries. Beer was flat. Non-smoking patio if you feel like sitting outside. Friendly service. Worth checking out on Tuesdays for wings. Next time I will try out a whole chicken. read more

3 Star + 0.5 for having 1/2 price wing special on Tuesdays! Tuesday 1/2 Wings with purchase of a drink and Raptors Game 5! We ordered 2 orders of wings (Mild and Spicy). I like how crispy the fries was and how spicy spicy was. Because of the spiciness, my 2 friends opt out and I ended up eating the whole order by myself... Sweet! Padak Half Chicken Boneless. You better love green onions. I do wish for more green onions and a little more sauce. But it was quite delicious. Some pieces were a little dry because I do prefer dark meat. The side dish were so so aside from the pickled radish. The salad was drown in Thousand Island Sauce and the peanuts was stale. Just a note, if you order Wing Specials, you won't be getting any side dish. When we walked in, all tvs were showing Blue Jays! We asked the waitress can the channel be changed to Raptors Playoff game, she said it would be fine but I need to tell her what channel?! read more
There seems to be an issue with this place accommodating large groups. They don't do separate bills. I expect if you don't do separate bills but bill by table you at least get the bill right. 3 times and you're out. And yes that's how many times they had to re-do the bills and they still weren't right. Tuesdays get busy since it's high price wings. Ordered a pound of hot wings and half if the fried chicken with padak sauce since we wanted something crispy. Hot is a nice tingly hot - I could only eat a few before my lips were burning. The crispy chicken was nice and crispy and not dry. Didn't particularly care for the sauce (mix of soy sauce and green onions). Service was fast for some people at our table and incredibly slow for others. One person had to ask 3 times for their meal. Music is the club vibe in here so get ready to here some tunes from a few years ago. You can bounce in your chair to the beat while gnawing on your wings :) Half price is a good deal. I wouldn't pay full price for what you get. Also while this place is busy there is still room to get a table. We could see St.Louis across the street where there was a massive line up all night. Arrived at this chicken joint and only had their kimchi fries. I wish I had tried the chicken as well, but I was honestly more sleepy than hungry after our first round of dinner and drinks (and I doubt the group I was with could finish an order of chicken). Plus, Korean fried chicken goes darn well with beer, however at that moment I just couldn't intake any more alcohol, so we all just agreed on the kimchi fries. My goodness, I've only ever had fries with kimchi once previously, but it also came with globs of goat cheese, which personally ruined the taste for me. The kimchi fries here comes topped with a fried sunny side up egg as well as drizzles of mayo. You have the option of adding grilled pork for an additional $3. We just opted for the kimchi fries and it was so dang good. I love that such simple ingredients can make an eating experience so memorable. P.S. They do not take card for orders less than $20. Or maybe they do, but will charge an additional fee? P.P.S. Sorry to whoever had to clean up the spilled water from our table. We left a generous tip! :) read more

How was the food? Since I was already kind of full when I came into the shop, I didn't order much, and we did take out. However, this is one of the few shops which I have to say, their chicken's white meat tasted very. I am not sure if it was a fluke of luck or what, the quality is probably one of the nicest Korean fried chicken place. However, I don't want to say that too easily, so I will come back to try more items on the menu before and provide a better rating at the time. For now this is a high 4 stat rating for me just off the 2 items I tried for take out. How was the service? The service is good, I think they accept all payment types. But make sure you pay cash, you'll get a little something back if you pay cash ;) Would I recommend? Yes, definitely worth a try, and since by observation this place is always packed. I'd say they are probably pretty darn good for the rest of the items. Tuesday is half price day so visit then if you want cheaper chickens. read more

Surprisingly good! I wasn't sure about this place because of the hit-or-miss reviews, but we had a great time! The kimchi fries ($11) are excellent and great for sharing. It is topped off with a Sunnyside up egg...whaaat?! The super salty and sour kimchi combined with crispy-on-the-outside-fluffy-on-the-inside Costco fries and creamy mayo and sour cream was a very tasty combo. Their beer is cold and most importantly, not watered down like some of the other places around this area! The only thing was they had the Leafs playoff game playing, but k-pop in the background because apparently their TVs don't play sound. Strange combo but that's fine, we still got to watch and eat good food. Seems like a great place to hang out and have a snack after work but not a great place to watch the game if you're looking for a sports-bar type of atmosphere. Will definitely be back to try some more food! read more

I'm a big fan of Korean fried chicken, and I have to say this place didn't meet my expectations. The service was okay here. Staff were nice and responsive, but won't bring your table any water unless prompted. Perhaps it was expected you would order beer here (since the vibe is more like a sports bar), but we had already ordered and received our food by the time we asked. It would be nice to at least get a round of water regardless (it's the classic soju branded water bottle + cups to pour it yourself). Now onto the edibles. Their complementary side dishes were...very bad. The pickled daikon tasted very stale--no daikon crunch, just sponge and surprisingly bland for a pickled food. The salad was over seasoned with a dressing that was confusingly salty. However, since they're complementary, I don't have too many issues with them, but it could be an indicator of quality. We got the half & half chicken in fried chicken and mild yang nyum chicken flavours. This was hands down the most crunchless fried chicken I've had. It tasted like the type of fried chicken you try to make at home that confusingly doesn't end up crunchy after shallow frying, cools down, and is then microwaved to a slight sogginess. The chicken itself was quite dry--very little moisture, no flavorful and juicy fat to be found, perhaps due to being cooked to oblivion. I felt like there was more bone than chicken for a large majority of the pieces as well--I'm talking a 8-2 ratio of bone to chicken. However, the flavour of the chicken was still good...but I wanted FRIED chicken. Probably will not be coming back again, especially with so many Korean fried chicken places all around the area, at similar or more worthwhile price points. read more

This place has really juicy fried chicken!!!! We did the half and half ($31.99). We tried the Padak and Soy Garlic Chicken. The Padak only comes boneless and was juicy and flavourful. The Soy Garlic Chicken was also juicy but a tad salty. We also tried the Fish Cake Soup ($16.00) and it was refreshing when paired with the chicken. The food here was a bit too salty for our liking but overall a great fried chicken restaurant. read more
