3.5 - The bulgogi fries was really good, I liked it better than the fried chicken imo. The sauce was sweet and paired really well with the fries, bulgogi and kimchi. I am a huge fan of runny yolks so the egg was a bonus to the dish. For the chicken, I thought it was okay, I have had better flavours. I would give it another try and get another flavour such as the original or gold as gold. Service was good, the waiter was busy but still came to us and patiently took our order. I like the concept behind this establishment with the tipping and sensory room as well.

I've wanted to visit Sarang Kitchen since I read about them on BlogTO because I wanted to support a restaurant that valued diversity and inclusion and fairness and equity towards restaurant staff. I finally got the chance recently and let me say, besides their awesome values, they have AMAZING food to match. Let me get into the values part a little bit because I feel really passionate about that. Sarang Kitchen truly believes in giving staff a standard of living wage and actually discourage tipping as the staff wages are built into the menu items - a practice I wholly support. They also employ neurodiverse staff who are on the spectrum or have learning disabilities, and try to create a safe space for everyone at the restaurant, providing sensory boxes and a multi-sensory room for guests, if needed. On to the food, they specialize in Korean fried chicken so I of course had to get that. I chose Choice Bro - a house special soy sauce fermented with fruits mixed with fried garlic. I also appreciated they had a vegetarian option of Korean fried cauliflower so I got that too to fool myself into thinking I was making healthy choices hehe. They have monthly specials which had two different sauce flavors that aren't part of their usual menu - I got the monthly special creamy wasabi sauce for my fried cauliflower. Each fried chicken or cauliflower dish comes with a small bowl of cabbage and daikon. The Choice Bro is hands down one of the best soy sauce-based Korean fried chicken I've had in the GTA. The sauce was flavorful but light enough for you to keep munching on without feeling heavy. The fried cauliflower was also one of the best I've had - they l excel with their crispy batter. The creamy wasabi sauce sadly was a miss for me because it felt rather heavy to eat with all the cream - the wasabi flavor was nice though. Overall, my husband and I both agreed we will definitely be returning. It's a bit of a drive for us but it's worth it! We'll be coming back to share the love with friends! :)

Got the sarang platter. Golden lava sauce (salted egg yolk) was slightly spicy. The salted egg yolk flavour could be stronger. Choice bro was garlic soy, but without the usual kick. Both flavours were decent & crispy, but could be moister. The sauces were decent: sweet chili, garlic soy, honey mustard & condensed milk. Squid, salad & chips were decent. The "tornado cut chips" were deep fried chips & did not have the slight chewiness & thickness of tornado potato.

Sarang Kitchen is a Korean restaurant that helps to break down the employment barriers for those who are neurodivergent. Upon entering we were immediately greeted with friendly smiles and welcoming staff. We were seated immediately and provided water while we browsed the menu. There was honestly so much to choose from, and I was tempted to try one of their spicy challenges. However I opted to save that for another day and just ordered some sharable for the both of us to try. The Rosé spicy rice cake stew was creamy, and not too spicy. The fries are your typical crispy French fry but the star was their homemade mayo! Lastly the 'Snowed Under' fried chicken was perfectly fried, however I found the powdered cheese to be a little underwhelming as it didn't have as much cheese flavour as I was expecting. We noticed that the restaurant also had a sensory room, and lots of comfy bean bag chairs, making this a cozy place for any neurodivergent. Portion sizes are big, and decently worth it for the price. Tipping is not mandatory, but we encourage you all to tip if you're coming to this place as the friendly staff definitely deserve it! My only small complaint were the table sizes. The tables for 2 people were smaller than other places, and with our 3 dishes, it filled up the entire table... making it slightly difficult to eat while trying to avoid knocking things over. Other than that, rating Sarang Kitchen 4/5. We will definitely be coming again!

We heard about Sarang Kitchen's story, and we are happy to report that they genuinely walk the talk. The restaurant is not large, with a few different seating options. We opted for 2 platters of fried chicken - 'Choice Bro' and 'Golden Lava'. I had never had anything like the 'Golden Lava', which has salted egg yolk sauce and curry leaves. Highly recommend this option if you're looking for something non-traditional but still delicious. Our waiter also mentioned this was his favourite menu item. The chicken was crispy on the outside, tender on the inside. We had some leftovers after our meal, and I savoured it just as much the next day. Throughout the restaurant are elements that demonstrate their commitment to the neurodivergent community, such as sensory boxes and a multi-sensory room. They also have a 'hospitality included' policy, promoting equal pay between FOH and BOH staff. Overall, we had a lovely experience at Sarang Kitchen.

Spot was nice and cozy, they had bean bag options to sit on and regular booths. Had a really cute sensory room And sensory bins you can get from the front to bring to your table. Service was good staff were really nice Food was good too big portions Seemed popular people were always coming in They Discourage Tipping As someone who works with children with autism it was nice to see a place that celebrates minds of all kinds

This fried chicken spot has been on my radar for such a long time especially since with their inclusivity policy on making their restaurant more accessible to a wide range of people. Sarang Platter (Sarang Kitchen): Suggested as a suitable amount for 4 people which I think was accurate amount. There was a reasonable variety of flavours to choose from - we got two spicy and non-spicy chicken. I'm not really a huge spice person so I preferred the non-spicy options more (especially the soy garlic). The spice was definitely more a strong lingering spice. Though I will say it definitely seems more of a modern take on classic Korean fried chicken flavours as there wasn't as many traditional flavours besides the snowing cheese and soy garlic. The chicken was quite crispy and good quality. It was great that Sarang Kitchen is also halal certified and follows a no-tip policy for their restaurant. I highly recommend getting reservations in advance if you want more booth seating as it's a relatively small place. I would advise it's a bit outside the usual taste palette of typical Korean fried chicken flavours but still good.

Platter for one (choice bro sauce) and sambal oelek cauliflower.

Stopped in for some KFC. Korean fried chicken. The bean seating was terrible. I had to ask to move due to discomfort. Ordered platter for one with choice bro sauce. Ordered sambal oelek fried cauliflower. The sambal oelek (Malaysian spicy garlic chili) started off nice then got wildly spicy in a good way. Was definitely sweating by the end. Portions were ok. The Asian in me would highly recommend a side of rice. Staff was really friendly.

My wife and I went to Sarang Kitchen as we were exploring Dufferin Mall on the weekend. Sarang Kitchen is only about a 10 minute walk from the mall and we were feeling quite peckish. We had heard lots of great things about the restaurant and how it was all inclusive. This was also my first time trying Korean fried chicken, mainly because I hadn't been able to find a restaurant serving halal chicken. When we went, we were greeted by the kind staff who showed us to our table. The ambiance was nice and cozy; there was beanbag chairs for people who wanted to be cozy, and normal seating for those who wanted something more 'normal'. We opted for the normal seating as we wanted to order their stew. We ended up ordering one portion of their spicy rice cake stew and one portion of their Korean fried chicken with their Sweet As sauce. Both were incredible. I would urge anyone in the area to come and try the restaurant out. Pricing was fair in my opinion and we had lots of the stew leftover for the next days dinner!

Decently good food and you get lots of it too! We ordered the sarang platter for 2 people and we basically were able to take more than half of it back. The chicken was super crispy but be warned, thought it is to be expected, the food was fairly greasy. Regardless, the story behind the shop is cute, they are halal friendly, and the service was good.

I can't really say much about the inclusivity efforts here, but their Korean fried chicken, specifically the flavour Choice, Bro was hands down the BEST I've ever eaten among all the KFC I've ever had. It wasn't too sweet or salty. It was also refreshing, like I was trying Korean fried chicken for the first time. Every bite was delightful. All my friends who tried felt the same. The tteokbokki and sides were also good in flavour and value. We had some difficulty stirring the tteokbokki because of how full the pan was but we appreciated the amount they served nonetheless. The sweet mayo ketchup they used was different. There may be some added honey in that? The flavour was addicting. At the end of the meal, we got complimentary Yakult. They have a big drink menu that can accommodate a variety of moods. Service was friendly, overall OK; it was only one girl hosting and serving on a Friday 9PM, with half the seats filled, so she was really busy and it took some time before we could be assisted for anything. It wasn't too loud but it wasn't quiet either. Great music choice, though if you have sound sensitivities, you may want to bring headphones or earplugs. There are 2 washrooms, unisex. They were clean and had pads, tampons, and toothpicks, which was nice. Highly recommend trying this place out.

This is my second time coming to Sarang Kitchen. I've got to say, this is my first time trying Halal KFC. I am thoroughly impressed with the crisp ones and environmental setup that they have got going on, especially the sensory room. As for the service, however, I feel like they could improve on that department because it was jam-packed and very hard to flag someone down for service

A friend and I came to try out the Korean fried chicken here, and we were not disappointed! We tried the Kapai and Sweet As chicken, as well as the kimchi dumplings. The chicken was good quality and the sauce used was amazing. I didn't feel too strongly about the dumplings, they were fine. Inside there was a variety of seating, including barstool, bean bags, and regular tables. Since we came on a Saturday night it was a bit hectic and the staff were very busy. The wait times were a bit long, but I'll cut them a bit of slack because they are new.
