I don't drink much, but the mango coronita is a dangerous game changer. It was so refreshing with the beer and absolutely perfect for a hot day. My bestie ordered one too, and it was the kind of drink where you barely taste the alcohol, just smooth and balanced. The crispy fries were a nice little palate cleanser in between all the good eating. The katsu was insanely good, super crispy on the outside with juicy meat inside. The rich brown curry sauce tied it all together for the perfect bite. The chicken was the real star. The garlic chips added a great crunch, the sticky sauce had tons of flavor, and somehow the chicken stayed crispy underneath it all. Juicy meat, crispy coating, and even some potato wedges tossed in the sauce made every bite addictive. This spot is perfect for date night or a girls' night out. The patio and indoor vibes are both great, the service is solid, and the food and drinks are even better. Only thing we didn't love while on the patio wre the pigeons landing on the roof. Dirt would roll off of it and onto our table, but thanks fully we had finished all I ur food and drinks
I just love the lively ambiance and the food was amazing. We had chicken katsu and Korean fried chicken. Both the dishes were perfection. The service was amazing. I would definitely recommend this place if you want to have some drinks and conversations with your friends.
A very popular Korean fried chicken establishment on Yonge Street. We came on a Friday night and was able to grab one of the last booth before the line started forming. In the summer months, the patio looks like a great space to enjoy the meal. I don't remember which flavour of wings we got, however, it was not as spicy as the fried kimchi rice that we ordered. Nonetheless, the chicken was crispy and delicious. I really liked the addition of the fried taboki as it was a texture contrast. Service was friendly, even though it was busy.
Chicken in the Kitchen has a large patio (with winter heating) and a cozy interior that feels like a wood cabin. They serve fried chicken among other Korean dishes. They have 2, 4, booths, and indoor and heated outdoor seating for about 24-30 inside and another ~24 outside. The service was quick and the food came out about 15-20 min after ordering. We were a bit disappointed by the kimchi fired rice, either due to the size of the pan being too big or the portion too small. There also really wasn't much of kimchi in the fried rice and didn't stay warm/hot long since the pan was cold. The fried chicken (the star) was pretty good, definitely upgrade with the $2 boneless option, to get breast meat (half was juicy half was a bit dry) mixed with dark meat. It comes with peanut toppings and reheats amazingly in the microwave and was still crispy (it dried out in the air fryer). Our order: - Kimchi fried rice, on the smaller side, pan is a bit too big and was not hot, so no crispy rice - the side dishes were the standard picked radish and cabbage - the sweet chili chicken was juicy and saucy, served with potato wedges and fried debokki Will try their other flavors next time, like their cheese + Korean Fried Chicken dish.
I've been to several Korean Fried chicken places in the GTA and I would say this is one of the better ones in terms of size and taste. We got the Korean Sweet Chili fried chicken and the portions were huge. It also comes with fries and fried rice cakes which was a nice touch. We also got the kimchi fried rice but the portion was a bit smaller than I expected. Otherwise, the food was tasty. The staff were pleasant and helpful with food recommendations. In terms of the vibes, it was designed to feel like a place you'd go out with friends for late night eats and drinks. You get your own little booth and overall it felt pretty cozy. They have an impressive heated patio as well.
YUM YUM YUM YUM YUMMMM!!! . for sure one of the toooppp korean fried chicken ive everrr haddd . HUGGEEE portions and after eating for a while you dont get tired of the taste, sauces were amazing and my friends loved the side dishes (especially the radish) .zero complaints on food we scraped our plates cleaaaan . we came on the later side but the servers and staff were more than happy to help us . our booth did feel a little too crammed for 6 people? we were eating shoulder to shoulder but not too big of an issue for us . washrooms looking a little grim but who am i to say anything (i hate taking care of resturant washrooms)
Great price for the food and very good portion sizes! Cheap shots 4$ per and servers were always willing to give us more! Chill ambiance with some nice outdoor seating as well, overall great spot for a night out or for a date
Always appreciate it when decent restaurants are opened passed 9pm in Toronto! I came here with friends and we shared their Korean pancake and original (large) fried chicken! The service was amazing, and the atmosphere in their patio section was nice! They have heaters in between tables to keep their guests warm
This is the first time I visit after Covid. It is busy on Friday night. Menu needs to scan to your cell phone to read. It has loud music. The sever is nice. The seat is tight for group of 4 in the wooden bench. I ordered volcano chicken and gold crispy chicken. Both has the same taste. I have to order some sauce to give a better flavour. I ordered honey garlic and spicy sauce. Each costs 50 cents extra. The volcano chicken has a burger bun with cheese dip in it. Surrounded by boneless chicken , fries and cheese stick. The cheese dip is hard to scope with the chicken very soon it is served. Both chicken dish has the same taste and bland and not very juicy. I was so regret and my mind was thinking "I wish I went to Popeyes or KFC". The 2 dishes cost $60 plus tax plus tips. Very disappointing. I give points to the server hence it is 2 star. Will not go back.
We were deciding between the garlic chip chicken and end up ordering the gold fried chicken. I was disappointed in the wings, it was very dry I had to ask for sauce. It's liile pub style food.
Korean friend chicken bar style, the food is good but not as good as people claim to be. If you want slightly above average fried chicken with some alcohol while listening to kpop hip pop then it's a good place to be. Get a patio table
We dined here during the period where there are minimal restrictions in the city and only outdoor patio dining is allowed. The spot we got was warm enough because of the heating installed. Prior to getting to sit down there was a wait list and it took around at least 30 minutes before we got the textback that our spot for 2 was ready. We did not get to sample a variety of dishes because of our small group of 2 people. Our order was full Gold Fried Chicken ($29.99), and Kimchi Fried Rice($12.99) to go along with it. I have no complaints with what we ordered. I liked the cheesiness of the fried chicken, and, at least for my taste, it paired well with the slight spiciness of the Kimchi Fried Rice. The order amount was a lot for 2 people to finish so we still had a lot of chicken for take away. Overall, it was a nice dining experience. Service was sufficient. I also have nothing to say about the price, taste, and value of the food.
Winner winner Chicken Dinner ___ Chicken In The Kitchen is known for boneless KFC. ___ Take a look at this incredible cheese pull from the EPIC Cheese Volcano Chicken. Dip chunks of crispy fried boneless chicken into the bread bowl with melted Gouda and Parmesan Cheese. And pieces of fried chicken, Korean Fried Rice Cakes and bread on top of rose sauce. So decadent! ---- Can't go wrong with Garlic and Soy Chicken or for something spicy go for Red Hot Chili. All orders comes with delicious potato wedges. I suggest adding the Kimchi Fried Rice topped with a fried egg that's served in a hot skillet. You will thank me for that cause it's oh such deliciousness here!
In my humble opinion this is one of the best Korean fried chicken spots in North York. The chicken is good quality, well seasoned, and very reasonably priced. The ambiance is great, especially if you are sitting outside during the warmer months. I will definitely be back again! read more
I've been here quite a few times because the location is convenient and it's a good spot to grab drinks with friends. The chicken is decent, but nothing particularly memorable. The coating wasn't crispy, and there was so much sauce that it pooled at the bottom making the chicken soggy. It''s a solid place for drinks and a casual hangout, but not a place I'd go to specifically for good fried chicken. read more

Huge disappointment! The day prior to eating here I had purchased some Korean fried chicken from H-Mart down the street and was absolutely mind blown at how ridiculously good it was. So while walking past this place, I figured that if H-mart can do it well, this restaurant dedicated to ONLY friend Chicken should do it better. Unfortunately that was not the case. The chicken was very dry. Not very tasty either. I had to ask for spicy sauce to drown my chicken in order to give it some flavour. On the other hand the fried rice was good. The price for the chicken was high, so I was expecting much better. Can't believe H-Mart did it better. Service was slow and unresponsive. The atmosphere killed it for me, as we were sitting next to a group of adolescent mid thirties guys with young at heart attitudes that were constantly swearing and cursing while they were getting drunk and talking about street racing. The atmosphere was very loud. Not a family or kid friendly place. I think this place is probably geared towards the younger, beer drinking, looking for a place to chill on a Friday night in the neighbourhood crowd. I won't be coming here again unless it's specifically to have a beer. read more
Four star rating mainly because of the location, super cozy heated patio and good service. Definitely a cute and convenient place to hang out at. Food overall is alright, I have only tried the fried chicken and fish cake soup. Fried chicken is decent, but the fish cake soup is a pass as it is really just a bowl of fish cake with some flavored soup. read more
Nice patio My husband and I want to dine outside and this place is right beside the intersection of Yonge and finch. We came here during COVID so we could only dine at patio. The staff here is attentive and approach us for COVID temperature check. We scan the QR code on the table to view menu. We ordered 2 katsu, one chicken and one pork. We wait for a while and it is very crispy, so it is freshly fried. It is typically bar comfort food. read more

First time visitor to your place after a day trip when we were tried and needed a bite late in the evening. It's a buzzing spot with delicious fried chicken, cooked crunchy and drowned in mouth watering sauce. The service was slow and the servers need to be more attentive, it was frustrating to wait and invest extra effort to draw a server's attention. The place is super noisy too. I'll definitely return to try more dishes, but not on an evening when I'm very hungry or tired from a road trip. read more

Lots of seating available, easy to get a spot if you come at lunch time even on Saturday. It is very busy during dinner time so keep that in mind The cheese katsu is +++++ cheesy if you like that but only has 4 pieces per order. The fried chicken was well dressed. Both dry rubs and wet sauces were tasty and flavorful. They add more little special add ons than I am used to like shredded cheese, rice cakes, potato wedges to enhance the experience. They also offer side dishes like korean BBQ styled so that is also a nice touch read more
The volcano chicken was pretty unique! There was A LOT of chicken (enough for 2). All boneless. It came on a bed of rosé sauce which i thought was pretty cool! In the middle is bread filled with cheddar cheese that you can use to dip the chicken in! There were also some potato wedges and rice rolls! Overall I think this is a pretty cool dish and it came out hot which made it so much yummier! read more
I enjoyed eating at chicken in the kitchen. The chicken is very good and tasty. We tried the gold fried chicken (KFC with a bunch of cheese!). Price is also pretty fair for the amount of chicken you're geting. Pictured we paid about $20/person for a LOT of chicken that we weren't even sure if we were gonna finish at first. Servers were nice too. I'd definitely consider coming back. read more
This restaurant has been bookmarked forever and I've finally been able to come with a friend. There's a paid parking lot behind the restaurant or it's diagonally across from Finch station so TTC it there and save the parking hassle. It was busy around 7 pm on a Friday night but not too busy since we were able to be seated upon entering the restaurant. Ambitiously, my friend and I ordered the cheese volcano chicken for the 2 of us. The side dishes arrived quickly and we chatted for a bit before the main dish came. Just an FYI that the cheese in the bread bowl loses its ooziness quickly. You have to dig in once the cheese sets since there isn't much pull left. The chicken was fried well, tasty and not dry at all. The rosé sauce on the edge of the plate was so good! I liked dipping pieces of the chicken into it. There was just the tiniest hint of spice in the sauce. We later found out that there were mushrooms, onions and even garlic in the sauce. I did not enjoy the rice cakes in this form. I like them chewy with a spicy gochujang sauce. The spiced potato wedges were good to dip into the cheese. Since we did not finish the dish I took the rest home and it was just as good the next day. I'll be back to try other dishes. read more
TLDR: Bustling wooden patio awesome for greasy fanfare and drinks! (Slightly) longer review for those not in a hurry: Taste (4/5) : I got half a Red Hot Chili Peppers Fried Chicken and the Brick Cheese Katsu (photos attached!) Red Hot Chili Peppers Fried Chicken Crispy fried chicken paired with a sweet and spicy sauce, pepper flakes, a few morsels of rice cake (tteok), and a side of seasoned potato wedges. The moment you bite into it you'll know that you've come to the right place. The crispy outside drenched in the gravy, followed by the juicy tenderness of the chicken was decadent! It is quite a heavy dish though, so half a chicken might just be all you need for a snack between 3 to 4 friends if you're just looking for a nice drink and something to munch on. This particular dish does have a slight punch, so if you can't tolerate any spicy, better opt for the other non-spicy options! Brick Cheese Katsu Thought it would just be the Brick Cheese Katsu, but it was an entire meal complete with a portion of rice, potato wedges, and salad! The portion was more than enough for one person. If you're a cheese lover, this dish does not disappoint. I was super excited from the pictures, but reminded myself that pictures, especially when it comes to cheesy things, often disappoint in reality. This dish most definitely did not disappoint! There was a generous helping of cheese, living up to its name of BRICK cheese. There are 3 sauce options (brown, something, and rose). I got the rose sauce and it reminded me of a loaded pasta sauce with cream. YUM! It is most definitely greasy though (I mean, deep fried katsu and cheese? That's oil x oil x oil), so better to share and go for a drink. The complementary pickles did little to help with the oil, unfortunately. Place (3.5/5) : The patio was very lively! I get that small businesses are trying their best, so this would be a great place for those more comfortable with crowds with COVID still being a prominent topic these days. The patio itself was a bit sticky-feeling, but nothing too gross, since it is an establishment where people usually go for fried food and drinks. All in all, a great place to visit in general, but prepare for greasy food, and best if you go for drinks. I'm not a drinker, so the coke I had with it made me feel like I missed out on the grand menu for drinks. There were people drinking a mango slushy with a Coronita that seemed very nice, so definitely check out their drinks menu, too! I came here with my wife for a late afternoon lunch. We love Korean fried chicken and this place didn't disappoint. We ordered the Supreme red hot chilli and Garlic chip fried chicken both orders came relatively quick. Appetizers were pickled turnip and coleslaw. They left us more to desire. Other places provided more generous and tastier ban chan appetizers. The chicken was crispy outside and juicy inside. Both orders came with potato wedges which was nice compliment. The Supreme red hot chilli also came with fried rice cake. Overall food was great and delicious. Would like them to offer a half and half option so we don't have to pay a premium to try 2 flavours. read more
Haven't been here since they first open years ago. It looks like they expanded their menu. Patios were all filled and they spaced out tables for dine ins Three of us ordered half of Gold Fried Chicken sprinkled with shredded cheddar cheese (wish they add more cheese on it) and seasoned potato wedges. It definitely didn't satisfy a cheese lover like me. And we also got half of Supreme Red Hot Chilli chicken with peanut topping, garlic sauce, potato wedges with few pieces of fried rice cake. I couldn't taste the garlic but I do like that it was saucy and has a tint of spiciness. It wasn't just all sweet. I give for spiciness even though both my friends thought it was too spicy. Both flavours were good - fried chicken was very tender and crispy with a perfect amount of seasoning. Price wise - it is a bit pricier but you do get a lot of meat out of it and the portion is great for sharing. I'll definitely go back again next time for more fried chicken! read more

This is still my favourite korean fried chicken restaurant to date, but.. tonight I decided to try a new menu item with my bestie on a late night bite outing: the rosé tteokbokki (rice cake). Although the tteokbokki were cooked to perfection with a nice chewy texture, the sauce was another kind of strange-- and definitely not rosé-- situation going on. It was very soupy, and wouldn't hold to the tteokbokki at all. Most importantly, I feel a little misleaded, when the sauce just tastes like Campbell's tomato soup. I am aware rosé has a tomato base, but I feel like they just stopped there at the base, should've just called it 'Tomato Tteokbokki' then. For a handful of ricecakes and onions, it was quite a disappointing dish for the evening. read more

Hi Kristy,…
Let me start by saying that their heated patio is a miracle and deserves 5 stars on it's own. My friend and I came here for outdoor dining (due to the restrictions) on the coldest day of the year so far (-31 degrees celcius with windchill). It was still chilly enough that we had to wear our jackets, but actually bearable enough to eat, even with the extreme cold warning! Their staff were friendly and very attentive. The waitress always came by to refill our water and we didn't have much trouble flagging a staff member down to order. The food was also delicious, fresh and hot! The fish stew was very flavourful and perfect for the super cold day. The fried chicken was crispy, full of flavour and also very hot and fresh. I was also very impressed with the potato wedges! Parking can be pretty annoying as the closest would be street parking. However, there is metered parking at Finch subway station on weekdays, which is free on weekends. As it's a very short walk away from Finch subway station, it is very accessible by TTC! read more
The last time I visited chicken in the kitchen I was drunk so I can't really comment on how it was. I remembered having a pleasant time. Today I tried their chicken in the afternoon, I believe at the moment they're slightly understaffed. But most restaurants are so that could be easily addressed in the future. We ordered the chicken, it was crunchy and flavourful, thankfully it wasn't submerged in sauce, you can still get the crispy texture. Will definitely get it again. read more

Was super excited to try the place based on the pictures so missioned down to Younge Street. Got the supreme red chili fried chicken and thought it would be super hot, but it was as sweet as could be... Not sure if we got the wrong order or something but we had to ask for hot sauce to taste at least a little spice. We also ordered the Rose rice cakes. the sauce was really good but the rice cakes were a bit too chewy, not like the usual ones I've had before, plus they were really big in size. Overall, the food was alright, but I probably wouldn't return anytime soon. read more
Great fried chicken place with really solid flavours and great staff! The staff are all really nice and patient. My friend asked a bunch of strange questions to them, but they were very good sports about it and played along with their whims. We got the sweet potato fries, gold fried chicken (whole), red hot chili pepper chicken (half), garlic chip chicken (half), and the cheese volcano chicken. All of the chicken was delicious and juicy. There is not a lot of breading at all, so you're mostly eating chicken! The chicken itself is crispy, but not overly crunchy--if that makes any sense. My only complaint was the very artificial powdered cheese on the gold fried chicken--not a fan. But the sweet potato fries were really lovely and crisp. The cheese volcano chicken was AMAZING and you even get some bread to dip in the cheese too! Overall a great chicken place with tasty food! You must try the cheese volcano chicken! read more
