Food 5/5 Service 2/5 Vibe 4/5 If you love pig feet / Jokbal, this is the place for you. Food is 10/10, AKA to die for! It is a bit fatty, but so comforting and it does give you more collagen if you think positively I gave them a 4 because service is really meh. They do get busy, so service is slow which i understand. But the other day, we were literally the only table there, and we still had to walk up to the cashier to ask for extra water / napkins.... (The server is either sitting at one of the tables chitchatting or inside the kitchen) - not that i need fancy service, but for a place where you do eat with you hands (lettuce wrap)... I would say either check in here and there, or give us extra napkins/sides so we dont have to literally run to them for every single thing... But still, will come hack~ just better service is highly appreciated
Visited here for Summerlicious and had a great meal. We ordered the jokbal set and Korean fried chicken for our main dinner. For appetizers, we had the tangy chicken salad and salmon tataki. Dessert was crème brûlée and cheesecake, all for $35 for dinner. Dinner is about $8 more than lunch, but many of the options overlap. So unless you're ordering the jokbal or tataki, lunch might be the better value. That said, those two were actually my favourites from the meal. The desserts were a bit underwhelming and nothing too special, though they did have a Pocky on top of the cheesecake. I'd highly recommend coming here specifically for the jokbal set. It was a lively weekend evening, and the place was pretty loud. It is a bar, after all, so if you're hoping for good conversation in a group, this might not be the ideal spot. Overall, I really enjoyed the food and would come back to try more of their small plates, but I'd probably skip dessert next time.
Came here for Winterlicious lunch! Made a reservation online. Service was extremely slow, but it was busy and there were only 2 wait staff, so it was hard to flag either down. The salmon tataki was nice and the sauce was tasty. Tasted like a thin sashimi with sweet citrussy soy sauce. The meal set was incredibly filling, but it would have been so much better with lettuce! The creme brule had a good layer of sugar to it, and wasn't too sweet. In all, it was very worth the price.
Had to wait a bit before being brought to the table, despite the restaurant being empty. The jokbal platter was bigger than expected and tasted great. Our server was very kind.
It's all about what you are looking for. If I look for delicate/authentic Korean food then I do not choose this place. If you look for extensive beer menu I don't come. But if I am with a friend to catch up over randam ok beer and casual snack food, and that I am in the Yonge & Sheppard area, then this place is perfect, and I will come visit again. The tables were nicely spaced out, dim lighting, music is right volume that does not interrupt conversation. Menu is unique. Tuesday evening at 5:30, we arrived and we were the first customers. The list of draft beer was limited. I stayed with Sapporo draft as it was the safest option to go with their food. My gf had Golden Ale (draft) which was very refreshing in spite of high alc percentage. Impressed by its glass :) Food was just OK. #KIMCHI FRIES w/BULGOGI: Good snack. I do not have more to say. #YUKE: OK though a bit bland and no textural appeal, but appreciated the fried lotus roots and seaweed sheets on the side. #Spicy Salmon: To me, I felt it a bit stringy, and no melty texture on the tongue. They have good selection of cocktails. I did not have a chance to try it today! Judging from the price point, I expect it should be good - I come back to try a few cocktails next time! By the time we left around 8:30, the place was busy.
This is my second time here and I love their consistency. It's always great service and great food. The drinks were amazing as well. They open late so you get to enjoy some sports , grab a drink, hang out with friends and chat. The servers are all very friendly. I had the jejuk bibimbap this time and it was just the right amount of spice. Amazing place to check out!
It's been awhile since I've dined at Han Ba Tang and menu has changed since. Prices are a bit higher than some restaurants but I recommend this place for ordering a couple of items on the menu and sharing with your group of friends or family. There are a lot of shareable items on the menu and more spicy vs non-spicy items. Menu is a QR code which makes it easy to access and to check back if I want to order more items. Host / server was very kind and gave my friend and I enough time to decide on what to order. Ordered the Corn Ball, Yule (Korean Style Beef Tartare and the Spicy Pork with Kimchi & Tofu to pair with a pint of Sapporo. Summerlicious was ongoing but opted to order from the regular menu instead. My favourite was the Beef Tartare as it's flavour and overall taste was delicious. It was refreshing and rare to find a good beef tartare. This was different than a Western or French take on this dish but it definitely suited my taste palette. Corn ball tasted a bit on the dryer side so I probably would not order again. Overall, a pleasant experience at Han Ba Tang and a bit on the pricer side but it's a nice treat ever so often. I would return again and try out their other items on the menu!
Came here after visiting a festival nearby on a weekend evening. Most of the restaurants were quite occupied and stumbled across this spot that had a table open. Based on the reviews, the jokbal is the most popular food item on the menu. Original Jokbal (Regular size): It's the perfect amount for 2 people. I don't really have this quite often so I can't entirely critique on how authentic it is but it tasted delicious! I was surprised by the portions of the pork was much more than I expected. Tteokbokki: We got the spicy rice cakes as well to go with the Jokbal. The sizes were reasonable and the sauce was a bit spicy but was manageable compared to the usual spice. Also nice to add to your jokbal wrap as well if you want to combine the two. We sat at the patio seating since it was pretty busy inside. The seating was still a good atmosphere despite being outside and had cute fairy lights. They also have soju for around $18 which is cheaper than the usual Korean bar. The service was quite fast and efficient. They have a lot of seating for big groups as well as more smaller groups. Overall, I had a great experience here and would totally come back again for a night out in the area.
Never a dull moment if you order their red wine sangria lol! Amazing drinks, shots, and specials throughout the week. Their food is good and reasonably priced. Service is quick and efficient. I enjoy the music they play - it's a cozy and fun vibe.
My work recently changed offices to North York, and as opposed to the downtown core, the Yonge/Sheppard area has a fantastic amount of dining options, specifically asian restauraunts. Han Ba Tang is described as Korean Fusion cooking and their dishes are amazing. From the fried pancakes to duck, chicken, bento-style boxes/dishes, and bao sandwiches everything we tried was delicious. Favorite was the jokbal dish, recommended by the owner and it didnt disappoint. It's best to come here with a group as sharing dishes family-style was definitely the way to go. Most nights of the week this place is incredibly busy and its easy to understand why. If you're looking for an upbeat place to eat/drink and have fun, this is a great spot in North York.
Came for a quick snack before the night was over. Ordered Yuke Bibimbap and a mojito. The server was very nice, it wasn't too busy so service was quick. Didn't mind the place. It was nice. As we were leaving it was starting to get busy!!! Looks like a hot spot for drinks and snacks

Came here for their summerlicious program and it was delicious! The salmon was fresh and the beef tataki had delicious flavours! I really enjoyed the japchae and beef bulgogi dish on the hot sizzling plate - highly recommend ordering both and mixing the two dishes together. The vanilla ice cream was as expected but had interesting rice krispie like puffs sprinkled on top. The matcha cheesecake was very thick and delicious. I highly recommend stopping by here if you're in the neighbourhood.

Grilled Mentaiko It is quite salty on its own, with a slightly dry texture and a fine, sandy graininess when you chew it. But once paired with mayo and cucumber, the flavor becomes much more balanced. The creaminess of the mayo and the freshness of the cucumber soften the saltiness, and then the mentaiko slowly breaks apart in your mouth, releasing a rich, briny umami from the tiny fish roe. Mayo, mentaiko, and cucumber are a perfect combination. Beef Tartare The portion is smaller than beef tartare I've had at other Korean restaurants. With chopped scallions added, the overall flavor leans more toward a sharp onion-garlic aroma, and the saltiness slightly overpowers the sweetness. Without pear, it misses that refreshing sweetness and crunch, so the flavor feels a bit too strong. Sizzling Pan Bulgogi The bulgogi reminds me of Japanese gyudon, with a similar sweetness from the onions and sauce. But because it is stir-fried on a sizzling pan, the beef has a light seared aroma around the edges and more wok-like fragrance. It also comes with Korean glass noodles, which soak up the sweet-savory sauce and become slightly sticky and chewy. One bite of beef, one bite of noodles, one bite of rice, and I naturally fell into full "head-down rice-eating" mode. The mushrooms also absorb the meat juices and sauce, keeping the dish from feeling repetitive. Simply Jokbal The "Simply" version just comes without side dishes and rice, but the portion of jokbal is the same. The serving size was honestly surprising, and even three of us couldn't finish it. The jokbal is cut into small chunks, with a high ratio of lean meat. The collagen-rich parts are soft, bouncy, and still hold their shape, giving a texture somewhere between braised pork hock and pig's trotter. The spicy sauce leans more toward the direct heat of Korean chili powder rather than just the sweetness of gochujang, a bit like the spice in tteokbokki. The savory meatiness, chili aroma, and saltiness build up layer by layer. No wonder this is their signature dish. Braised Pork Ribs The seasoning is somewhat similar to the beef tartare, with sweetness from onion and fruit. The rice cakes also soak up the sauce very well. The ribs are not like the small-cut pork ribs commonly seen in Chinese cooking. Each piece has a short bone with a thick layer of meat around it. The meat is firm, fibrous, and chewy, but still deeply flavored from the braising. The more you chew, the more the meatiness comes through. Spicy Seafood Soup The biggest strength of the soup is its strong seafood flavor. The broth is rich in umami without feeling too heavy or sauce-based. The downside is that there is not much seafood: only squid, two shrimp, and a few mussels. The noodles were also average, without much chewiness and not great at absorbing the broth. May 8, 2026 - Tried out this Korean restaurant in North York. Got the spicy tteokboki and the half and half original and spicy Jokbal. The food was really good. The tteokboki was creamy and very chewy. The sauce was really good as well. The Jokbal was really tender. It was a bit messy to wrap everything together as there was a lot of water that came with the lettuce. But aside from that, everything blended together really well once put together. Boh Jokbals were really good, but I think i lean slightly towards the spicy Jokbal. It's more consistent with the cuts of meat and the spice added a little kick to it. read more

Han Ba Tang was fine. **** Rice cakes with creamy truffle sauce (Truffle Oil, Bacon, Mushroom, Shrimp, Broccoli, Garlic Bread) were tasty. *** Jokbal meal set was fine. ** Fiery Chicken feet (Braised Chicken Feet with Spicy Sauce, Blanched Bean Sprout, Green Onion) was too chewy for my tastes. I think the chicken feet should be braised until tender, so that the flavours have been absorbed into the chicken feet. Instead, these were chewy chicken feet with the sauce sitting on the surface. Nice atmosphere, good for a date. Service was fine. read more

I've been looking forward to trying Han Ba Tang for a while after seeing this be the go-to place for a few other friends on a night out. We came in after work with a party of 4 and the restaurant was pretty much empty as the night was still early so we were seated right away. What we got: - Original Jokbal - Softshell Crab with Habanero Mayo and Yuzu Sauce - Truffle Creamy Rice Cake - Kimchi Udon - Makguli Final Thoughts: The vibes were great, but nothing special overall. Rice cakes were over-cooked and too soft, I'm not a huge fan of seafood where you have the crunchy shell, and it was the first time I had jokbal which I found too fatty. Perhaps my expectations were too high coming in or the items we ordered just weren't to my taste. Would come back but probably order other things. read more

Checked out this Korean spot by my place for my friends bday. It looked to have a hip looking vibe with a cool interior. Ordered the pork belly "waow" steamed buns to start. They steamed bun part was not as soft and fluffy like the Chinese boas I've had before and the filling was not as flavourful. For our main, we ordered the half & half Jokbal (half spicy and half original) combo which came with one side, so we got Spicy Noodle. I never heard of Jokbal before, but its apparently a popular dish in Korea. Jokbal is braised pig totters (feet) braised in a sauce for hours until it is very tender and falls off the bone. It was interesting but the trotters were extremely fatty, actually I found there was more fat than meat. I like the spicy side more over the original with the sweet and spicy flavour. The original Jokbal side was plain, especially compared to the lively spicy side. The dish did come with some sides like lettuce to wrap the Jokbal in and cabbage to be used as filling in the wrap. There was also a fermented bean paste, raw garlic and jalapeno. I didn't like the overly fattiness of this dish. I much prefer the traditional Korean bbq with lettuce wraps (which is one of my overall favourite things to eat). The spicy noodle was surprisingly good though. The spicy level again was off the charts but it played well against the cold noodles. The sweet, sour, spicy and cold combination made it vibrant dish. But unfortunately, the noodles are not enough for me to want to come back to try other items on their menu. read more

Wow this restaurant was really underwhelming!! I ordered the Bulgogi set ($17) and my friend ordered the SPICY ORIGINAL JOKBAL SET ($18). The presentation of my meal looked great but the taste was really bland . It almost taste like something you would get at a cheap food court. Although editable to finish it , I would not return back here again. My friend also mentioned her dish didn't taste good . She tried to finish but it was just too unappetizing to continue . Also the menu was a bit misleading . It looked the set contained a very large salad as well as Jokbal but in reality it was just Jokbal .. a lot of rice and very little salad . Would not recommend to eat here but the patio was super chill and perhaps good for drinks read more

I love this place the service was amazing the food was delicious the vibe was fantastic. We ordered so much food we had the most popular dish jokbal, that was so delicious! It was recommended by one of their staffs! We also tried their kimchi fries, spicy noodles, cheese and dips it was all so good! I will definitely be coming back for more as I really did enjoy everything! read more

This place is my favourite bar in Toronto. Cocktails are amazing, Korean buns are so tasty, the vibe and environment is perfect. It's a relax/ non-pompous, chill environment. On New Year's Eve- it was a crazy party. Love this place. Much love Tony! read more

This was another food & bar hopping adventure along Yonge Street with a group of friends. The place was virtually empty indoors so seating was not a problem; outdoor patio seating was full. To begin with, one pitcher of cold Sapporo please! The Kimchi fries w/Bulgogi (crispy potato fries, gravy, kimchi, herb mayo, green onion) was excellent and the Seafood Pancake (shrimp, squid, chives, pepper) was prepared to our liking. Our server was friendly and attentive! Street Toronto P parking is available, if you can find an open spot. read more

Second time coming here and we were just as impressed with the food as the first time! Unfortunately, they don't have our favourite dish, mac & gochujang with baby octopus, anymore, but we took the opportunity to discover new yummy dishes! What we had: -Kimchi fries ($12.00) - As always, the fries were the perfect crispiness level. Last time we got the shrimp fries (also amazing) and they used the same fries, so we were very happy about that. -Spicy rice cake ($14.00) - If you like spicy, get this dish! We love rice cakes, so we liked this dish. It was just a little too spicy for our tastes. -Soy pork short rib ($18.00) - The meat literally just falls off the bone on this one, and the cheese corn combo is just delicious! This was our non-spicy dish and it helped mitigate the fire in our mouths from the first two! Service was pretty good. We didn't have to wait long for our food to come, and they gave us water to refill our cups regularly. Just had a little trouble splitting bills within our group because of miscommunication between servers. Ambience is more of a bar vibe, we loved it. It gets pretty packed quickly, so be sure to make reservations. If they ever bring back the mac & gochujang, it's a must try!! read more

What I liked: - creamy rice cake - this one was enjoyable. similar to carbonara, creamy sauce, chewy rice cake. really great. Would order this again. - kimchi fries - can't go wrong ordering this. One of our favourite dishes of the night - chicken wings and fries - one of their daily specials. Standard. - sangria pitcher - took a long time to come to our table but we loved it. Enough for a group of 6. The OKs: - pork ribs with corn cheese $28 - shareable dish. We got the sweet soy sauce and the flavour was just OK. The cheese around the ring also wasn't stringy it got hard fast. It was an OK dish, probably would try the other types. - kalbi taco - they use whole wheat tortilla which was not my favourite. also again it wasn't that amazing and I probably won't get it again Overall this is a good meetup place with friends to catch up. Most of the item portions were on the small size and meant to be shared with the group. Hipster bar vibe if that is your thing. Friendly staff and price is average. read more
There is something about the atmosphere that makes me crave comfort food from this restaurant every winter . I've been turned away before so this time I smartened up and made a reservation. Service is pretty good, food was also tasty but I would have liked a tad bit more alcohol and there are cocktails. I am a lightweight and usually get tipsy off of the first glass, but their yogurt cocktail didn't do anything to me after the second. read more

4/5! Their chicken skin was my favorite! The chicken feet was a little too spicy for my taste but great for folks who like things a little spicy. The short rib was very tasty and kimchi fries was the bomb! So good! The bosom was also amazing! Ordered the cucumber gin cocktail, was a little too sweet for my taste due to the soju. Spicy chicken and cheese was good especially with rice, but I do have to say that no one beats Hancook for this dish. However I was pleasantly surprised by the Bossam. The pork belly was really tender, soft, and juicy. When eaten together with the salad and vegetables provided, it brings out a lot of flavour and textures that complement each other. It looks like such a simple dish, but it was really delicious. The next time I come back, I would probably order the bossam again and get other tapa dishes (instead of the spicy chicken). It also seems that they have changed their menu recently, and I am excited to try some of their new or improved dishes! read more

I always make a point to come here whenever I visit Toronto. The prices are pretty good when sharing, and almost everything we've ordered have tasted great! I usually call in for a reservation, but I have found that they're not too crazy busy nowadays so you could likely walk in and be fine. There is a paid parking lot in the back. Our usual orders are the kimchi fries (bulgogi optional but not necessary), spicy chicken with cheese, and creamy rice cakes. The spicy chicken with cheese is good to share between 3-4 people, and the presentation is just so good. It's also cheaper here than I see at similar places. The small kimchi fries is a good size for $10, and the creamy rice cakes are just so tasty with the bacon. We also tried the daily special, the king prawns, which was really good and had 6 pieces - excellent value for the daily special price! I'll definitely check out the daily specials in the future. Some items that I would not order again would be the tacos, spoon pizza, and the soju flight. The soju flight is really neat for the novelty but taste-wise, we found it either too sweet or too strong, not smooth at all. Service is hit or miss. The most recent time, we had a really great waitress who checked on us often, filled our water, and mixed up the chicken dish we had. Other times, we had to seek our waiter for the bill, etc. Either way, they're happy to help! The only thing I'm not a fan of is the washroom. I know it sounds silly, but it's not the most comfortable washroom. You have to walk down a steep and narrow passageway, then it's really cold since it's a basement and the stalls are tiny. I'll still keep coming for sure to get my Korean snack fix! read more
