Found the prices to be much too expensive for what the dishes were. The sushi was not of good quality but the karaage was a good crisp and quite juicy.

Recommended to try this North York sushi spot by a friend for lunch, and gosh, was it satisfying! I particularly loved the shrimp tempura -- crisp, warm, & light, and the salmon sashimi was thick & fresh. The salad and California roll wasn't particularly outstanding, but it wasn't bad. I would go for the nigiri, tempura, or sashimi instead. We went after the lunch rush so it was nice & quiet, but I was told that it does get busy at night and on the weekend. Service was attentive and quick, and the booths were comfortable and clean. Prices are on par for most sushi lunch specials.

Came here on a Friday night. It wasn't too busy and the restaurant itself is quite big. The seating mostly consists of booths which is nice, but it gives the place more of a bar & grill type feel. Not very loud which makes it quite easy to carry on a conversation amongst the table. The service was pretty average. As for the sushi itself, I didn't order anything special, just dynamite and salmon rolls. It came with a complimentary miso soup that contained noodles. The sushi is definitely good quality. My only complaint, which is why I didn't give 4 stars, is that it is overpriced for what you get as compared to other Toronto sushi joints. You can definitely easily get the same quality elsewhere for cheaper.

I agree with the others that this place is overpriced for what you get. I wanted to try the avocado tempura, because you don't typically see this item. It was just ok - no fault to them because it's well made I just don't think avocado tempura is a good dish haha. Needs more batter or something to really contrast the richness and creaminess of the avocado. We got the chirashi dinner which was rated as a favourite item on the menu. It was decent. Most of the fish tasted pretty good but I don't think I'd get it again. It came with miso soup and salad which were good! The maki rolls we ordered were the star of the meal. Probably the best yam tempura maki I've had! The tataki attack had scallop inside and torched escolar on top and it was also tasty! I like that they give you sriracha and sriracha mayo as a side on the plate so you can dip as you please. Service was good and the one thing I like is that the dining area is almost completely filled with booths which makes for a comfortable dining experience!

Been coming to Sushi Moto for years with colleagues. This place never disappoints if you're looking for high quality sushi. Great lunch combo options and quick service for work lunch breaks. Owner and staff are always welcoming. Decor and ambience gives a fancy, but cozy feel.

Great sushi spot! Service is on point here, they're very attentive. The sushi itself is pretty tasty! All the fish pieces are smooth and fresh. Their miso soup includes some noodles, which you don't see very often. I'm also pleasantly surprised that their ice cream isn't a single tiny scoop, but a rather sizable about. The matcha quality in the ice cream is probably a little better than what you'd find at an AYCE sushi place, but definitely not as good as Tsujiri or dedicated matcha cafes. The prices here are also pretty reasonable. Overall, great place to get sushi!

Sushi Moto is a great spot for work lunches or dinner either with your team or with clients. It is clean, professional and you can't go wrong with Japanese food. I came here for lunch with a vendor. Salmon teriyaki bento boxes is typically my go-to but I was deeply disappointed with my salmon here - it was overcooked and dry, as if they made it in advance and kept it warm for a long time until my order came in. The shrimp tempura though was tasty and it came with 3 compared to the usual 1 when you go to other locations. The California roll was a good ratio of rice, so I think the next time I'm here, I'll order the sushi instead.

Such subpar sushi for above average price. I really don't get why this place has a good rating. Revisited after many years because we couldn't get a spot elsewhere. Especially with the amount of competition these days. I've you're looking for a comfortable restaurant with good service but really below average sushi, here's your spot. I'd compare it to food court sushi. Much better options around the city to spend your money.

My first time trying sushi moto and it did not disappoint! The sashimi was so fresh and the pieces were so thick! The sashimi platter has so many different assorted pieces. Great value, cravings satisfied and will be coming back!

Sushi moto is kind of a mid between an Izakaya and a high end sports bar. The sushi is above average for the restaraunts in the area and is priced accordingly. There is a ton of speciality rolls, a number of fun looking appetizers and a good selection of drinks. If you want to enjoy the game but aren't the mood for chicken wings, give Sushi Moto a go.

We arrived around 3:30 pm when it was fairly occupied; they feature 'Happy Sour Hour' from 4 to 7 pm, during which all of their sour beers are reduced in price to $7.00. We ordered and shared two beers, the first a lager, the second a sour beer in order to take advantage of the discounted price. The venue is long and narrow, with two floors and a distinctive looking back patio. Our service was fairly prompt and they are located in a quite convenient location, literally across the street from the subway and the historic, flagship LCBO location. So I can recommend a visit if you're in the area and desire a drink and/or snack.

I also ordered some take out: a funghi pizza, bruschetta & papardelle al boscaiola. Everything was so delicious! Sip is one of our favourite restaurants because the food is always good & it's not overpriced. The Tagliatelle was perfectly cooked and the bolognese sauce so yummy. Hubby enjoyed the charcuterie board. And the nutella pizza is a little messy but still delicious. At home I shared the bruschetta with hubby. I don't know how they get the pizza crust so thin. However they make their pizza I still think it's the best pizza I've ever had in Toronto. Service: We had a lovely lady serviing us. She has always been there when we have come in the past. Golden Pigeon occupies the space where Ben Wicks used to be, which is below street level with stairs in the front. Inside it is fairly dark with various games situated on the left/south side of the venue, and when I walked around inside I noticed a shelf with board games at the wall on the north side. I wasn't planning on staying late so I only ordered one beer (Devil's Pale Ale from Great Lakes Brewery) but everyone else with me ordered food and beer including desserts; the food all looked and smelled quite nice to me and the consensus from my friends was that their choices were quite enjoyable. My beer was quite good too and their draft menu features a wide variety of quality beers on offer. The prices for both food and beer are pretty standard for the type of venue this is. Our service was fairly prompt and quite friendly; there were 2 skee ball games not too far from where we sat, one or both of which were frequently played by others while we were there. They were loud enough to make conversation a little more difficult so I took a star off of my rating for that. Being a German Beer Hall styled venue, I do understand that the overall 'ambiance' conveyed will be loud and somewhat boisterous. By the time I left around 9:30 pm it was somewhat more crowded inside while the patio had largely cleared. I quite enjoyed my first visit to Golden Pigeon and I hope to revisit before too long to have a different beer and maybe some food.
