"Surprise me" with something whiskey and sweet
    Amelia J.

A hidden gem tucked away above Little Sister. They open at 630, but I was early, and the staff at Little Sister were kind and let me sit and wait at their bar. The space is super cool - soft couches, dark lighting, great music playing. One bartender to service the entire place. We saw people come and go (mostly pre dinner drinks, a few first dates) but it was mostly not very busy from 630-900. Thursday night is neighbourhood night - any can of beer or cider is $5. They have a menu item where you pick your spirit and the flavour profile you want of your drink and the bartender invents something for you - mine was super yummy! The food menu is hella small, and only has snacks. No real options for vegetarians. The fried chicken was delicious, definitely get that. The rest only serves the purpose of keeping your hunger at bay. With a better food menu, I'd give this place 5 stars.

We stumbled into this place one day on our way home, when my boyfriend suddenly said he wanted a drink. It was Friday night, we just saw how crowded it was downstairs at the Little Sister Indonesian restaurant. So out of curiosity, we went up stairs and found this amazing little place! It's a very intimate space, small and cozy! Perfect for a date or friends get together. There is a bar where you can sit at, or at the lovely wrap around velvet sofa. The decor is lovely, definitely played a big role in the vibe. As for the drinks, they had a pretty interesting menu of cocktails, a small but carefully curated selection of wine, also had all the traditional drinks you would want. Definitely will come back to this place for a date night!

    Review Highlights - Bar Batavia

The food downstairs at Little Sister is great, as their sister restaurant Noorden just up the street.

Enjoyed stopping by Jade with my parents tonight!…read more We made a reservation on open table, although there were definitely some tables that I think would be free for walk ins. There's a nice pink flower wall in the entrance and the interior is a bit dark and cozy with velvet booths and a nice bar. We ordered oysters, kaizen toast, tofu, steak, sea bass, lobster spaghetti, and broccolini. A few thoughts: - the oysters are nice, I appreciate the tiny bits of rice that add a bit of a texture. They come with toppings already so if you're looking for just plain raw oysters, don't order these - the kaizen toast is one of their specialities. It's pretty heavy (with the foie gras and unagi) but delicious if you like all the toppings! We split between the three of us and that was the perfect amount - the steak frites were cooked perfectly and I enjoyed that the fries were truffle fries! - I would have preferred the broccolini sauce to be on the side, it was a bit heavy I also tried a lychee fizz, good, but I would probably try something else next time. Overall, a nice time especially for a nice dinner, date tonight, or celebration.

The entrance alone sets the tone with a stunning floral walkway that feels like the prelude to a special evening. Whether you're planning a romantic dinner or celebrating a special occasion, this Yorkville spot delivers an elevated experience on every level. The ambiance is sophisticated and chic, with dim lighting, luxe finishes, and a modern yet intimate vibe that makes it perfect for a date night. The service is warm, attentive, and genuinely welcoming; small details like offering complimentary champagne for our anniversary didn't go unnoticed and added a personal touch that made the night feel even more special. We started off with cocktails and got the Lychee Fizz, which is their most popular option. It lived up to the hype: light, flavourful, and incredibly refreshing. A perfect drink to ease into the evening. Appetizers kicked off with the Corn Dog & Caviar, which came as four perfectly crisp bites. The contrast of the crunchy exterior with the melted cheese, sausage, and caviar-mayo topping was indulgent and playful; elevated comfort food at its finest. For mains, we shared the Lobster Spaghetti, Grilled Sea Bass, and the Slaw. The spaghetti was packed with generous chunks of lobster, al dente pasta, and a breadcrumb-like topping that added an unexpected but welcome crunch. The sea bass was tender, flaky, and full of flavour, while the slaw - a sleeper hit - stood out with its mix of veggies, peanut sauce, and crispy wonton strips that gave it depth and texture. We ended the night with the Pandan Cake, a sizable chiffon-style cake topped with passionfruit, dark chocolate, strawberry, raspberry, and sakura dust. Admittedly, I was unsure how all those bold flavours would work together, but somehow it did! Delicate, airy, and perfectly balanced. Jade is the kind of place that impresses not just with its food and cocktails, but with its atmosphere and attention to detail. Whether you're celebrating love, a milestone, or just a night out, this Asian fusion spot in Yorkville is well worth the visit. Highly recommended.

Dining inside is a cozy experience in terms of tables/floor space, but the decor is done tastefully and muted without being over the top. Fully stocked bar on premises and a detailed cocktail menu to boot. The appetizers we tried included the Sate Ayam (chicken satay skewers that came along with the most delectable and mouth watering peanut sauce and a side of pickled veg acar), and the Tempe Mendoan (deep fried tempeh with a rich sambal dip. Both were excellent. For mains, the Nasi Goreng Kampeong was my favourite of the dishes we tried. The fried rice was smokey in flavour (comes with chicken) and the sunny side up egg upped the richness when you break in that yolk and mix it all up. The Ketoprak was also good, vermicelli noodles with a rich peanut sauce, tofu and beansprouts served with kerupuk crackers. Add the egg for a couple dollars more and this one dish is a complete meal in itself. The Bakmi Ayam dish with the hand pulled noodles was the most subtle and muted in terms of flavors (came with chicken and wonton chips) but the sambal served alongside was spicy and turned the dish up a notch. Both desserts we tried were top notch that included the Es Teler Sundae and the Gula Aren Panna Cotta.
