ChickenFajitas. Pint of Stella and Keith's amber

Thornhill pub has a cozy and lively atmosphere with live music on Fri / Sat. The fajitas were fantastic, enjoyed with a pint of Stella and Keith's amber. Our server was exceptional, food came out quickly, no complaints, would come back!

    [Chicken Fingers] $12.99 - a very generous portion :D

It was Mother's day dinner time, and we had just finished watching End Game. Game 7 of the Raptors' playoffs against the 76ers was going to begin soon and we were starving. We needed a place to dine at but also a place that would play the game while we dined so naturally, we stumbled into here. I, personally, had never been here before but had read many reviews of the place. I am glad we ended up here, because the value for the amount you pay is amazing! [Chicken Fingers] $12.99 - this dish comes with 5 chicken fingers on a bed of fries. My goodness, this is such a giant portion. I barely managed to finish half of it before asking for a take out box to take it home! The chicken fingers are delicious, as are the fries. My favorite part about good fries is when they reheat well in the toaster oven. These fries were delicious when they were first brought out, but were almost equally as delicious after being reheated! YUM. It comes with ranch or plum sauce, and as I've never taken to plum sauce, I asked for ranch. [Onion Rings] $6.99 - THESE ARE FREAKING DELICIOUS! This is also a huge portion, perfect for sharing, but also if you'd like, you can dine on these bad boys, all by yourself. They're probably the best onion rings I've ever had, in all honesty. Given the quality, and the portions of the food, I would 100% come back again if it was just based on that one factor. The glaring problem I keep coming back to, is the lack of service. It was nearly impossible to get our waitress's attention after the initial ordering which is a problem. I'd consider giving this place one more chance because I really enjoyed the food and atmosphere!

I'm a little torn about this review! The food was great, the service was good. However a couple things had me perplexed! We ate on the patio which seemed a little packed considering Covid distancing rules. I'm okay with it but I can see people being uncomfortable with the closeness of the other guest. However the staff were spot on with following covid protocol! The patio was nice with plenty of umbrellas for shade, but kind of dirty. The dirtiness takes away from how nice the outdoor space is! At night they brought out some really nice lamps. In my opinion, night time on the patio would be the best time to visit. I ordered a margarita which came in a really small glass but was really good! For food, I ordered the fried chicken. It was phenomenally good! It came with potatoes wedges which I tried to substitute for salad. Unfortunately, NO substitutions. So I ordered a small salad on the side. The thing that's perplexing is that the potato wedges were really good and I would have never known but most restaurant will accommodate the guest with substitutions. Overall, food was great, service was good, patio ok! I want to go back to give this place a 2nd. I will also edit my review because Thornhill pub is either 4 stars or 3.

Yeah...that's $17 for a measly pound of wings.

What takes eons to build but may fall in months? Not the Roman Empire...This Pub! I was desperately waiting for this place to open. I see weekly as I go up and down Yonge Street. One time it was white in colour and then it was closed for a long time and then it was black in colour and then it was closed for a while...and so on. After what felt like eons...it opened! I made it a note to go as soon as a can. My drivebys looked good. Packed patios and that's enough for me to think it was going to be good. Sure the reviews were not good and some people thought it was over priced but hey...it's Thornhill and it's the only legitimate pub I can see for miles. Something to note, there isn't much parking here. The large parking lot belongs to the Tennis club and they are not welcoming to pub-hoppers. We squeezed the people mover against the side of the pub. I finally arrived and stepped inside. I was expecting it to be packed but the patio was semi bare and empty inside. Not a good sign indeed. We got to seat anywhere we wanted and wow....it was freezing inside! After finding a spot that didn't freeze the snot out of my nose, we sat down. The cheery server was right there with the menus and advised us that there were a couple of beers out of their lineup. No Keith's and no Boddingtons. Two on my list of likes...oh well...No probs. How about ..this...uhm not sure...how about that??? Uhm...not sure. How about Mill Street stuff? Yes! We have it!!!! Finally! We ordered a pint of Organic and Meridian from Mill Street. Off she went and we looked at the menu. WTF??? The wings better be good for $17 and the burgers better be more than Mc.Clown.Food specials at $18. Fish and other things were no better. We decided we will try the food anyway. We made the trip and a few bucks shouldn't stop us from enjoying a night of expensive pub fare and limited beers! The bubble went POP!!! I'm sorry...we don't have those beers too...WTFFFFFFFFFFFFF!!! I calmly said...well, we're done. Thanks. We walked out. Imagine a place that can't afford to keep the kegs stocked...you know the food can't be fresh. I for one hope they can pull it out and get it right soon. Though I gave it a ONE STAR...I am rooting for them to survive and meet expectations. I do want to try it again but right now...EEK...ME THINKS NOT! A dry CHEERS! No alchy here!

Waited 15 min without service. Tried to flag down 3 different servers and still no service. Seems like not enough servers so why don't you hire more. A lot of customers sit outside , but you have to serve the people inside as well. Other days were fine, today is just very disappointing.

If you want to have a good experience with good service, do NOT waste your time here. I came here with 2 friends and everything was fine until our food/drinks arrived. We had ordered 1 spinach and artichoke dip and 1 order of loaded nachos to share, and had issues with both of these. Firstly, when the spinach dip arrived, we noticed the dip was at the complete bottom of the dish, with chips thrown on top. i've never seen any restaurant present a dish this way, and it was shocking to see this. But this was the least of our issues. The chips were crushed and broken bits, the type you would find at the very bottom of an old bag, and in addition to this, it was evident that they had mixed an old bag of chips with a new bag. When we brought this up with the waitress, she did not do anything to fix the problem. The chips were so old and gross, that they wouldn't even crisp like normal tortilla chips when you'd bite into them. it's as if they assumed their customers are naive and don't know what chips are supposed to taste like! it was just shocking to see that the issue wasn't resolved even when we tried to speak with a manager. Now aside from this, when we started to eat the spinach dip, we noticed that there was something weird in it. To our surprise, there was a yellow object. I do not know HOW the chef or kitchen staff didn't notice a giant 2 inch big yellow plastic cap had been dropped into our spinach dip, but it was truly APPALLING to see something like this at a restaurant that classifies as a prominent establishment that has been running for such a long time. After discussing our issues with the waitress, we asked to see a manager and she did not allow for this, she instead brought another order of spinach dip, though again the chips were evidently from the bottom of the bag. She apologized and said we shouldn't have eaten it (how were we supposed to know until we noticed there was something IN the dip?). She did not take the items off our bill or even offer us a new dish to make up for it (for the nachos). Despite the issues we had, we tipped the waitress, however as former regulars, we will never be returning and do not recommend anyone else goes here if the current management and waiting staff remains the same. Yes, restaurants are suffering after the implications of COVID, but how do you expect customers to stay or return with this service? I would not recommend this establishment to anyone. This is not the way to run a business and there is some serious improvement necessary here.

It took at least couple years before its opening last year. I was so excited to try even though with the several bad reviews in the beginning. I went there the first time for a drink only during a late summer evening. The patio was packed and so we sat inside at the bar. The drink/beer selection was definitely limited since the bar didn't even carry Guinness. However, the bartender knew her job and was friendly. We went there again and tried the platter. Oh my, the kettle chips are awesomely good. Our waiter was not the best but friendly. The third time I went there, I was told Guinness is available now, nice! The same bartender and she is still nice. There is a live band show on every Saturday nights. I think this place is doing better than in the beginning and is keeping the place quite clean and tidy. Decoration is nice. There is a fire place at the back area. It feels cozy if you pick the lounge seating with more friends next to the fire place. I like to go back again in Summer, grab a table and drink to enjoy in the spacious and nicely decorated patio on a sunny day.

I decided to look at the menu, saw the lobster roll, and knew that I needed to order it. I love lobster rolls. I see it on a menu and I must order it. No thought required. Done! There are three COAST locations, all ghost kitchens, in the GTA. One is in downtown Toronto. Another is at the Firkin that I used to frequent at Yonge and Eglinton. The one is Vaughan is the latest addition, which is where I went last night. I placed my order through Uber Eats for pickup: - PEI lobster roll with COAST salad - Crispy COAST shrimp - Crème brûlée cheesecake - Superbowl Sunday special (free COAST fries when your order is $40 or more) The downside is that I got a general location as to where to go to pick up my food. I got to the plaza with Nations grocery store anchoring it. Where do I go next? Well, my prayers were answered when a nice person from COAST called me and said that my order was ready. He let me know that COAST is in The Moose, which is a Firkin pub. Yes, direction! I thanked him and parked closer to the pub. The Moose looks new and modern. It has patio heaters and is open for dining in, as is many eateries in York region now. I was greeted by a nice man. He asked for my order number. I showed it on my phone and he went to fetch my order. I saw this white paper bag with handles on the bar counter. He thanked me and handed it to me. I reciprocated. I could smell the fries through my mask. I was so excited and I headed over to my car. I got home and had dinner. I bought more than I could down, so I have leftovers today that I look forward to having I had a container full of salad. The PEI lobster roll was camouflaged by it. You can choose fries or salad as your side. Considering that I was going for free COAST fries, I settled for salad. I loved how much salad I got. The veggies were crisp and fresh. All I heard was my crunching on them. The salad dressing had balsamic vinegar, but it was subtle and didn't have a ton of sugar. I liked it a lot. My lobster roll was good. The lobster had generous chunks of real lobster in aioli, with chives and seasoning. Yum! The downside was the bun. The brioche bun needed to be softer and perhaps grilled more with butter. It would have made the experience nicer. It was a smaller roll than I had hoped for $20, but I had so much food that it was minor. What surprised me the most were the crispy COAST shrimp. They were super crispy. They had a bit of spice. The baby arugula balanced out the spiciness. I thoroughly enjoyed how crispy the whisper-thin batter coating each shrimp was. Perfection! I got the COAST fries on the house. The fries tasted so homemade, as if I had cut the fries myself, and someone did a better job at deep-frying them. It had Grana Padano cheese that I had never had. It tasted like parmesan, but milder. I loved it with the spicy aioli and chives. I love chives so much. I normally don't enjoy eating fries as a side, but I could do these any day. I have been good lately by not going overboard with desserts. However, I couldn't resist getting the crème brûlée cheesecake. Sadly, my slice got tossed around a tad in the container, so the pointy part of the slice was smashed. However, I ate it all, even with the whipped cream puddle next to it. I enjoyed this cheesecake slice a lot. It wasn't terribly sweet. The berry coulis on top provided a nice tartness and contrast. The crust was thin. The cheesecake was creamy and you could taste the beautiful crème brûlée flavour in each bite. It's a winner! I am eyeing the PEI lobster poutine, and COAST surf and turf burger next. I had a great experience. Prices do run steep, but it's worth treating yourself to fresh seafood and ingredients. (114)
