Last week, I saw my friend's photo of a surf and turf cheeseburger, and what was left of my small mind was blown. I decided to look at the menu, saw the lobster roll, and knew that I needed to order it. I love lobster rolls. I see it on a menu and I must order it. No thought required. Done! There are three COAST locations, all ghost kitchens, in the GTA. One is in downtown Toronto. Another is at the Firkin that I used to frequent at Yonge and Eglinton. The one is Vaughan is the latest addition, which is where I went last night. I placed my order through Uber Eats for pickup: - PEI lobster roll with COAST salad - Crispy COAST shrimp - Crème brûlée cheesecake - Superbowl Sunday special (free COAST fries when your order is $40 or more) The downside is that I got a general location as to where to go to pick up my food. I got to the plaza with Nations grocery store anchoring it. Where do I go next? Well, my prayers were answered when a nice person from COAST called me and said that my order was ready. He let me know that COAST is in The Moose, which is a Firkin pub. Yes, direction! I thanked him and parked closer to the pub. The Moose looks new and modern. It has patio heaters and is open for dining in, as is many eateries in York region now. I was greeted by a nice man. He asked for my order number. I showed it on my phone and he went to fetch my order. I saw this white paper bag with handles on the bar counter. He thanked me and handed it to me. I reciprocated. I could smell the fries through my mask. I was so excited and I headed over to my car. I got home and had dinner. I bought more than I could down, so I have leftovers today that I look forward to having I had a container full of salad. The PEI lobster roll was camouflaged by it. You can choose fries or salad as your side. Considering that I was going for free COAST fries, I settled for salad. I loved how much salad I got. The veggies were crisp and fresh. All I heard was my crunching on them. The salad dressing had balsamic vinegar, but it was subtle and didn't have a ton of sugar. I liked it a lot. My lobster roll was good. The lobster had generous chunks of real lobster in aioli, with chives and seasoning. Yum! The downside was the bun. The brioche bun needed to be softer and perhaps grilled more with butter. It would have made the experience nicer. It was a smaller roll than I had hoped for $20, but I had so much food that it was minor. What surprised me the most were the crispy COAST shrimp. They were super crispy. They had a bit of spice. The baby arugula balanced out the spiciness. I thoroughly enjoyed how crispy the whisper-thin batter coating each shrimp was. Perfection! I got the COAST fries on the house. The fries tasted so homemade, as if I had cut the fries myself, and someone did a better job at deep-frying them. It had Grana Padano cheese that I had never had. It tasted like parmesan, but milder. I loved it with the spicy aioli and chives. I love chives so much. I normally don't enjoy eating fries as a side, but I could do these any day. I have been good lately by not going overboard with desserts. However, I couldn't resist getting the crème brûlée cheesecake. Sadly, my slice got tossed around a tad in the container, so the pointy part of the slice was smashed. However, I ate it all, even with the whipped cream puddle next to it. I enjoyed this cheesecake slice a lot. It wasn't terribly sweet. The berry coulis on top provided a nice tartness and contrast. The crust was thin. The cheesecake was creamy and you could taste the beautiful crème brûlée flavour in each bite. It's a winner! I am eyeing the PEI lobster poutine, and COAST surf and turf burger next. This may become a new go to place for us, mostly due to their renovations. Last time we had come in a few years ago, the place was obviously tired and droopy, and the food/value wasn't so great that we returned soon. When we decided to go for our last visit, I was more than game, because we had done a group event for work and I knew about the major facelift, which is enough to bump this place to a 4 stars from a 3 for me. The patio is nicely set up, with a border of trees around it to separate it from the neighbouring units. The front area of the pub has a beautiful seating area with couch, comfy chairs and coffee table, and even a rug and lamp to make it feel super cozy. Wow. I instantly thought of Friends where you just substitute your own group. There is a an area for a couple of dart boards by the bar and open tables. I loved being able to play rounds before and after dinner. I also love that we can walk over for a drink or dessert and do this more often when we aren't splurging for a whole meal out. Speaking of the meal, the food is more like a 3 or 3.5. We ordered a one pound wings meal, a poke main, and I went for nachos. Hub and daughter agreed that it must have been much more like a pound before they went from the freezer to the deep fryer. They were also a bit dry and hub thinks they taste better when I take them from the freezer to the oven at home. The fries were beautifully done and tasty, and no complaints on the crudites or dip. My daughter was disappointed with her poke bowl, I think mostly because when she saw quinoa on the menu she thought it was replacing the usual rice base. This was basically a salad though and with some quinoa and tuna dice sprinkled on it. The tempura green beans gave some texture and the orange slices gave it some kick but the sauce was a little heavy for the mostly spring mix greens. My nachos were fine, decent amount of cheese for the layer of chips given and done to a good degree. I'd have liked a little more tomato on them. They have daily specials along with the fairly extensive menu, so there's plenty more to explore on another visit and see which options might be keepers. The cocktail drinks were all at least $10 each so we stuck with soft drinks - root beer, which came in the can, and coke, which didn't so idk if that means he would have gotten refills where I obviously wouldn't. My daughter got a caramel lava cake dessert which came with ice cream and it looked and reportedly tasted yummy. We had some nachos left over and they'll provide the doggy box and bag if you wish. Service was decent. We were greeted and seated promptly by a friendly host and the server was equally pleasant. She checked in at one point during the meal but didn't ask about drinks again till we were done eating and we were ready for the bill. I will definitely be wanting to return for a dessert and/or drink just based on the atmosphere much sooner and would prefer coming here more often than neighbouring places because of that. It really feels like pubs in the U.K. where you come in the evenings to relax around people instead of by yourself around TVs, computers and phones. The renos are great and I love all those booths, with the hooks on both sides of all of them to keep your stuff off your seat and table. There are also billiard tables and the usual TV screens with the obligatory football (as in soccer) games going, so whether you're on your own or a whole gang of peeps, it's a great place to go. read more

I love this pub so much it was my go to spot PRE- COVID! The workers are so nice and attentive to your needs and the drinks are always made perfect! It tends to get busy on weekends (pre-COVID) and they have karaoke nights on Mondays (pre-COVID). Food is always made perfectly I've never had issues! Make sure to ask for the specials because there are always great options to order from there. CANT wait for them to open again! read more

Moose & Firkin is a great place to head down too if you are looking to spend your night relaxing and playing some darts or pool. Any Firkin location is my go to for casual get togethers just because you always get that feeling of community when you go in. The staff and the atmosphere is super friendly, which is just amazing when you're just trying to connect with your surroundings while enjoying a couple of drinks. Obviously with any bar comes the regular goers, and let me tell you how welcome the regulars at Moose make you feel. You just feel like a big happy family and that makes my heart get all fuzzy :'). Right in the centre of Hwy & Weston, it is easily accessible. Food is of a better quality when compared to other bars but let's be honest, will you really taste the food when you'll be turning up in this fun bar? Not sure what I expected but this place is NICE! The decor is nicely adjusted to the size of the place and its interior is welcoming and yet discreetly provides an individual experience in each seat, section or booth. The service was nice and very knowledgeable of the menu and selections. She actually made a really good suggestion which I ended up trying. The food came quickly and hot. I had the beef deep sandwich and I did not regret it. It was so good it disappeared in a few minutes The server came by a few times to check on us to make sure we were okay. Food is good but the service is slow. We come here to get lunch from work. Food is good but the waiters/waitresses take a while to get to you. This is not the issue when the place is busy but when almost empty, they still take a while. We have noticed this multiple times. Also, takes them a while to get the bill, so for a speedy lunch, order and pay right away. On to the food. The veggie burger is fantastic. Very, very COVID conscious and safe. I was met at the door for my order, and the food was handed off to me outside; no contact, masks in place, simply amazing service. Nice pub with a cool British atmosphere. I like the design, with the tube map all over the walls, that's cool. I've been there a few times, mostly have gone after work, when I was hungry or in a mood to get a good burger. Their burgers are the one of the best burgers I've had in a while. I like the fried onions they're adding on top of the burgers, just as a default. I've ordered couple of other mains, and I remember that they were good. Right in the centre of Hwy 7 & Weston, this place is pretty hidden. I've lived in Woodbridge for years but never seen or even stumbled upon this place. Finally went and honestly the atmosphere is great! Food is better then most bar food I've had. Only downfall would be music, the few times I've went the music selection wasn't the greatest. A lot of classics, but with everyone being young I was expecting music from this generation. They have a dart board and pool, but you have to bring change to play pool. Will come go again though! Visiting from out of town for work, my coworker and I just wanted to grab some beers and eat some pub food. The atmosphere is great for a sports bar and our server was fantastic. I've never been into a Firkin pub while its still in its infancy. You know before the rose colored carpet turns plum and the seat cushions begin to fade and tear. This place has all the normal amenities you expect from a firkin style pub: wooden bar, wood and glass trim between the booths, dart boards (still in mint condition) and pool tables. Really good draft selection with some favorites such as: Creemore Springs, Guinness, and fosters. They also have an amazing selection of unique brews such as Granville island pale ale, Butlers pale, barking Squirrel by Hop City And a real treat Samuel Adams Oktoberfest seasonal Brew. It's in a tricky location at the corner of the new Nations Fresh grocery store in Vaughan at the corner of Weston Road and highway 7. 3 star as other than the really comfortable and perfect height bar stools it had nothing different from what I'm used to at a firkin pub. Also to be fair haven't had a chance to try the food as of yet, so perhaps a future visit will warrant a revisit. Worth a shot.... Of jäger. This place is either severely understaffed, or staffed by very apathetic incompetent individuals. My husband and I were looking forward to trying this place for a nice date night out. Few drinks, some food, good conversation. But it was not meant to be. We were seated by a nice man with a Tom Selleck style moustache who was the only saving grace of this place. We waited 20 min or more to even see the waitress. Ordered our drinks. 10+ Min later the busser dropped them off. We sat there with our menus and empty glasses, ready to order some food for almost an hour(literally). During this time we tried to flag the waitstaff down a few times, always being told "Ill be with you in a minute". No one came to offer us more drinks, no one came to take our food order, no one came to give us the bill for the drinks we ordered. We were quite literally forgotten. I was severely tempted to just walk out on the bill - but having worked a lot in the service industry I have an unusually high tolerance for this kind of BS and I knew I just couldn't. We ended up having to ask the bouncer door-guy what we should do to pay our bill, and he finally flagged down someone who let us pay. Yes, it was a busy weekend night. But that's no excuse at all to have such inadequate staffing. Never returning and wasted over an hour of our lives here, which makes me pretty sad because we were excited to try this place. Stopped in here on a Sunday afternoon to grab some lunch/brunch. I enjoyed a pint of moosehead and a pint of monkey something ... A more hoppy beer. Both were $5 and were delicious. I ordered breakfast an omelette brunch and it was okay. I was a little annoyed by the description in the menu that said it included fresh fruit when in reality it comes with an orange slice that's more of a garnish. It was nice that they had brunch options and the beer was great. The sever was really nice and I might return if in the area. read more

Absolutely horrible, horrible service. I was there on a Sunday afternoon/evening and the service was terrible. I had to go to the bar to get service to order my drinks from the RUDE bartender, not once but every time I wanted another drink. It was not a busy night and I had no server at my table the entire time I was there. When I got my bill I complained how bad the service was and the RUDE bartender got offended and reached to garb the beer I was finishing and told me to get out. The moose has gone downhill with their service and their rude, pathetic staff. Avoid this place at all cost. The bartender is lucky I didn't cuss him off for trying to garb my beer from my hands, the beer that I was paying for. read more

In an hotel/retail area where bars tend to spitefully close two hours early if the staff feels like it, it's SO nice to know there is a Moose & Firkin nearby to slake my thirst late at night. The ales they feature on tap are out of this world (and I'm from goddamned Colorado!), the service is top-notch, and clientele is varied, personable, and fascinating (especially on karaoke night!), and I just can't think of a bad thing to say about M&F. I may be grading on a curve after being perpetually pissed off at early closers, but I really came to love this place and will be back for sure on my next visit to Toronto. Came here on a Friday night to watch the game. The service was honestly horrible. The waitress came every hour (even when it was clearing out), and the only reason i'm giving this place 1 star is because their food was actually decent. Also, I asked for a take-out box twice. The first time, the waiter never brought it to me. The second time, the waitress took my food with her and never brought it back. Such a shame... cause the burgers here are actually tasty. read more

Moose and firkin is a unique spot. You are immediately felt welcome by the regulars and staff. This is a spot that makes you feel like you are in a large family. If you are feeling down come to moose. Bartenders are skilled to make anything in downtown high price spots and waiters/waitresses give you great service that you always return. This is an establishment where you aren't a nobody. Here they want to know you by your name and make you feel welcome. The bar is a great spot to have great conversations with individuals from every part of every industry. I use this place as a spot to wind down after work. The staff are hand picked to give great service and make the most delicious drinks. read more
