We were in the mood for chicken wings so instead of going to Gabby's like we usually do, we decided to try the Uptown Pubhouse instead. The Yonge and Lawrence area is in need of a good place for wings. We were hoping that the Pubhouse could be the spot for us. This place is bigger than it looks as they have a fair amount of seating at the back. Being our first time, we decided to go with the 2lbs chicken wings with sauce at the side along with the fish and chips. Their chicken wings were very good. Loved the how it was crispy and a fairly good size. No tiny wings for sure! Unfortunately, the battered fish wasn't as good. Our waitress was attentive and prompt even though she was busy with a group at the back of the place. I would rate the food 3.5* with the extra 0.5* for the service. Recommended. read more

Came in on a Sunday afternoon. Only 5 patrons at the bar, food came out fast and hot, service was fantastic. All TVs set to sports (basketball, soccer, NASCAR, baseball) sound on the TV was off and the best soul/funk Motown was playing through the speakers. I wanted to stay longer just to hear the Tunes! I recommend the wings, they're the best I've had in town. So meaty!!! I hear Dry Cajun is best but I ate medium wings , loved them! read more

I'm mainly giving it 3/5 due to my "The Pubhouse" burger that was very disappointing. It was charcoal i.e. burnt on the outside and flavorless on the inside. It lacked any juiciness. If I hadn't been with colleagues as well as starving I would have sent it back. It was priced reasonably but that doesn't make up for lack of flavor. Service was good! Bonus: we were able to make a reservation for 8 on a Thurs. one of the very few pubs my friend could find in the area that allows that. They drink specials before 6 PP. As well as food specials. The pot pies were apparently good. Dessert: I had two bites of the sticky toffee pudding and it was decent. It was made the British way with dates and comes with ice cream. Good for sharing as it wasn't incredible but wasn't bad either. Beer: they have Goose IPA on tap which was a huge crowd pleaser with our group :)! A half pint was $4.75 Bathrooms: decent and clean Would I recommend to a friend? Only if they lived or worked in the area and needed an okay place to go. Will I go back? Probably not read more

Grabbed a drink and dessert here after dinner. The atmosphere is great, there's live music and the staff are friendly. There's a good amount of space, even for larger groups. We were in the back room which is intended for larger groups and I enjoyed the privacy it gave us - but still kept us in the environment as you could hear the live music well. I got a beer and my fiancé got the ice cream (kids size) dessert, which were both reasonably priced. Overall, it was a good experience and I'd recommend this pub to a friend. read more

Nice place that just opened. Beer selection a little limiting (Coors, Bud, Mill St, Honkers). Would be nice to have some more canadian craft beers. Friends liked their meals and desert. Easy parking at Metro across the street. read more

Giving this 3 stars because I want it to succeed. Nice looking gastropub, and close my hood. Went on the first week, so service hiccups are fine and expected. Could use a beer list that matches the look of the pub. A couple good local craft brews, and several standard premium drafts. Got the steak and ale pie. Wasn't a pie. Was a stew in a ramekin with puff pastry on top. Not a pie. It's stew with a pastry top. Granted the stew was tasty. Also got fish and chips. Looked like the chef was playing with the batter recipe to make it lighter and less greasy than typical Goan and chips. Kinda worked, but didn't have shattering crispy goodness that a good fried fish should have. Also, could be wrong, but it seemed like it was made from a frozen filet. I hope this place finds its stride. But it is appealing to the sport pub crowd, there is already Gabby's and Stack up the street. If it is going for English Gastropub, it has to compete with The Abbott. I'll probably give this place another shot. I hope I can bump this to a 4 or 5. read more

It's like I come here to torture myself. The spinach and kale dip was obviously from the night before or something. I could tell they threw some more cheese on top and popped it in the oven. Wasn't really a dip as much as it was a rubbery slop. The beer is overpriced. The food is overpriced. The clientele and the guys who work there are sleazy. They've served me ice cold coffee and their wings suck. Walk the extra block to Gabby's. The environment there is much friendlier. read more

The Uptown Pub is exactly what we needed in the area. I am not too sure why others are complaining, I have been to this pub several times and find it to be wonderful. The service is very friendly, all the bartenders are very social and are not on their phones all the time like in most bars now. I do find the beer a bit expensive, however tolerable. The customers sitting at the bar are very friendly and open to lots of discussions, no snobs there. Its easy to criticize, and it's not easy to please all the people all the time, so relax and enjoy. read more

the food was good but the server was awful. It took over an hour for our food to come and we were the only people in the resturant. The server ROBERT then came out cursing about the chef in the kitchen and said "he doesnt know how to turn on the f^cking oven" then mixed up all our bills which resulted in us paying for a bill that wasnt ours. read more

New pub which opened in a space that normally sees less than memorable eateries. Surprised at the amount of people not only who were in the location when i went, but at the amount of people i see there every single night on my way home from work. I suppose thats what happens when a new pub opens in the neighbourhood. Good vibes, friendly staff who were more than happy to write me the wifi password as my aging ears couldn't quite make out what they told me. Nice atmosphere, closed off section in the back for more relaxed and quieter diners. Good live music playing canadian greats (loved his rendition of the hip) while not over powering the whole building with his voice and guitar. Pops was impressed with some of the beer selections, however, he would've liked to see more. In love with the brie, apple and kale salad as it takes a lot for me to actually eat something with vegetables in it. Main meal was decent in comparison, fish and chip batter was on the heavier side. Giving it the 3 stars for the location close to me casa and the general vibe of the place, i really want this place to improve it's little faults so that it can stay! This was our first visit to the Uptown Pubhouse. It's got a neat urban pub vibe - an atmosphere I really enjoyed. My wife found lots of gluten free options, and we both really enjoyed the spinach and cheese dip appetizer. We both had a burger; it wasn't standout, but certainly high quality. Our friend had an order of nachos and they were very well loaded with ingredients (not just on top, but throughout). Service was friendly without being intrusive. On this Friday evening the kitchen was quite slow, so I wouldn't recommend it as a place for a quick bite, but it's a comfortable place to spend an evening. We'll definitely return. read more

Pleasantly surprised with this pub! The interior is clean and more upscale than your usual pub. Live music on Fridays(haven't been). Tried their suicide wings, and they are meaty and juicy. Also, tried the nachos which they layer the toppings nicely. Shepherds pie and club sandwich bang on. Lastly, their poooooutine,my fav is so very yummy. Great upscale pub! My family and I frequently come here for a casual meal during the week. The food is consistently good and the service is always attentive and friendly. The owner is very nice and really cares about his customers' experiences and repeat business. The menu actually has a lot of good options and there is always something good on special. I have ave been frequenting this place since it opened, my favourite is the uptown burger with the home cut fries. The burger is the best I have had on Yonge street, a 9/10. I prefer it to any other gourmet burger place. The fries are the best ever. They remind me of the old fashioned fries we waited in line for as kids at the Rustic Restaurant 30 years ago which was next door. They are home made and truly a 10/10. These are not frozen fries, they cut and blanch them in the kitchen. I always wash it down with a hoppy Honkers IPA not to be confused with the darker and milder Goose Island Pale Ale. I love this combo. Often I come here for wings and some brews on game nites. The wings are well seasoned and well prepared. They are large wings and hit the spot! The Cajun Dry rub is my favourite. I have tried and like most of the menu all is upscale pub, it's high quality. read more

Ploughman's board was tasty enough, but messy (cured ham was cooked ham). Beer menu heavy on the commercial brews. Need to stop getting draft beer - seems to have gone somewhat flat in too many bars. Great food. Simple menu where everything they make, they make fresh and delicious. More a restaurant pub than a pure drinking hole pub. Not a huge beer selection, but a good selection; enough to satisfy. Decor is nice; my wife loves the Edison light bulbs throughout. Owners are often there and a real friendly couple. This is our go to family pub restaurant in the area. Great desserts btw. read more

Look, this place is awesome and we've been coming here for a while. Great selection of beer, decent food, the service is generally on point. But the last few times we've come here we've noticed that the staff are enjoying themselves a little too much - I am ALL for "buying the house a round" and sharing in the libations, but I've personally witnessed servers getting pretty drunk, in the middle of their shifts. This doesn't change my opinion, but you have to admit that's a little weird. Not to mention how much money the poor owner is losing, between spillage and mixing drinks and in-house consumption... ouch. Please stop drinking on the job. Has a lot of potential. Don't expect good service. Don't expect good food. Good to watch sports. Desserts are alright. The steak beet salad is lacking, probably just needed a little salt, some more acid. Chicken fingers were overcooked (dark brown) or the fryers haven't been cleaned in a while. Our server on multiple occasions has been sour, distant, non observant. Basically they didn't care. Wings are OK. Everything is just bland even the service. read more
