We were 9 people so we got a bunch of little plates to share. What made the most of an impression for me was the tteokbokki. It was so creamy and flavourful. I also especially loved the cheese corn which paired perfectly with the spice of the tteokbokki. Can't wait for another night out here!

Grilled Mentaiko It is quite salty on its own, with a…read moreslightly dry texture and a fine, sandy graininess when you chew it. But once paired with mayo and cucumber, the flavor becomes much more balanced. The creaminess of the mayo and the freshness of the cucumber soften the saltiness, and then the mentaiko slowly breaks apart in your mouth, releasing a rich, briny umami from the tiny fish roe. Mayo, mentaiko, and cucumber are a perfect combination. Beef Tartare The portion is smaller than beef tartare I've had at other Korean restaurants. With chopped scallions added, the overall flavor leans more toward a sharp onion-garlic aroma, and the saltiness slightly overpowers the sweetness. Without pear, it misses that refreshing sweetness and crunch, so the flavor feels a bit too strong. Sizzling Pan Bulgogi The bulgogi reminds me of Japanese gyudon, with a similar sweetness from the onions and sauce. But because it is stir-fried on a sizzling pan, the beef has a light seared aroma around the edges and more wok-like fragrance. It also comes with Korean glass noodles, which soak up the sweet-savory sauce and become slightly sticky and chewy. One bite of beef, one bite of noodles, one bite of rice, and I naturally fell into full "head-down rice-eating" mode. The mushrooms also absorb the meat juices and sauce, keeping the dish from feeling repetitive. Simply Jokbal The "Simply" version just comes without side dishes and rice, but the portion of jokbal is the same. The serving size was honestly surprising, and even three of us couldn't finish it. The jokbal is cut into small chunks, with a high ratio of lean meat. The collagen-rich parts are soft, bouncy, and still hold their shape, giving a texture somewhere between braised pork hock and pig's trotter. The spicy sauce leans more toward the direct heat of Korean chili powder rather than just the sweetness of gochujang, a bit like the spice in tteokbokki. The savory meatiness, chili aroma, and saltiness build up layer by layer. No wonder this is their signature dish. Braised Pork Ribs The seasoning is somewhat similar to the beef tartare, with sweetness from onion and fruit. The rice cakes also soak up the sauce very well. The ribs are not like the small-cut pork ribs commonly seen in Chinese cooking. Each piece has a short bone with a thick layer of meat around it. The meat is firm, fibrous, and chewy, but still deeply flavored from the braising. The more you chew, the more the meatiness comes through. Spicy Seafood Soup The biggest strength of the soup is its strong seafood flavor. The broth is rich in umami without feeling too heavy or sauce-based. The downside is that there is not much seafood: only squid, two shrimp, and a few mussels. The noodles were also average, without much chewiness and not great at absorbing the broth. This dish is more about drinking the soup than eating the toppings.

Think soju, beer, tteokbokki, fries and anything else that is fried. The ambiance is that bar vibe you can typically expect at any bar. They have this extension back room that is built with wood, and you feel like you're in some sort of cabin. It's usually always decorated seasonally and feels very homey. Their raw beef with pear dish is a must get. Super fresh, cold and refreshing to the palette. It's sweet and has a nice bite to it since the beef is so cold and previously frozen. Tteokbokki is saucy and spicy and great for sharing. All other fried items are very standard (fries, onion rings etc) but a nice fried item to have on the table to go with your beer/ soju. Come here or the cheap pitchers of beer and a great time with friends! I find myself always coming back here since it's so casual, easy to get larger group tables and service is always there! The grilled meats - pork jowl and pork belly - were really delicious and you could taste the char even though it wasn't cooked right in front of you. I think the pork jowl wins the round if I had to choose a favorite grilled meat for this meal. I did not realize that the pork bone soup was going to be spicy. I was hoping it was the clear pork bone soup but thankfully it wasn't too spicy. Lots of large pork bones with plenty of meat was in the soup. The seafood pancake came out and I did not expect such a huge seafood pancake. I think it could probably feed 5-8 people. Was there anything overtly special about the place? Not really. But everything was cooked well and the server was really nice and attentive the whole time. I think this place would be good if there was a large group because the portions are pretty large.

The meat was tender and really juicy, with a nice mix of different cuts including wings and drumsticks. Here's how the four flavors went for us: Aburi Yuzu Gochu Definitely eat this one first while it's hot! The sweet and citrusy yuzu gochu mayo works really well with the melted, torched cheese. Together with the juicy and tender chicken, it was easily one of my favorites. Unfortunately, it wasn't nearly as good once it got cold. Good as Gold White truffle and black truffle oil. Surprisingly light for fried chicken! The truffle aroma really comes through in both the crispy skin and the chicken itself, without making it feel greasy or heavy. Really enjoyed this one. Golden Lava Salted egg yolk with chili. This one was disappointing. It tasted pretty close to the original fried chicken, and I could barely pick up either the salted egg yolk or chili flavors. Sambal Oelek A Southeast Asian-style chili garlic sauce. The garlicky heat was quite strong, but personally I didn't think it paired that well with the fried chicken. Once you get past the sauce on the surface, the chicken itself doesn't have much seasoning or flavor.

Parking is behind the entrance and you do have to pay. I think if you come after 6pm, or maybe it was 7pm? It's only $3.50 (CAD if you're reading this from the US or something. All prices are in CAD because it's in Canada obviously. Lol) for overnight? Normally $2.50 an hour or something like that. I found out about the place on a YouTube video from CantoMando (I was going to try The Heartbreak Chef's food as well, but it seemed like they closed down?). A lot of the time stuff from social media turns out to be ehhh whatever, but not this place! I didn't capture the interior, but it had a very nice cozy vibe. There were beanbag chairs, some toys and stuff on a shelf to play with. The seating was mostly booth style with some having chairs that were nicely cushioned and everything was well kept. The bathroom had a funny don't clog it or you have to fix it sign and the table had a qr code for a digital menu as well as a notice that they discourage tipping! I love that! Tipping has been getting out of control everywhere... Anyway, enough of that. You want to know about the food, right?! Wow! The food here is amazing! I wanted to try all the different sauce flavors. The waiter at first couldn't think up the best way to do that, so he consulted his coworker. (Both very nice people, definitely hope to see them again when I visit with more of my family next year.) We ended up ordering the Sarang Platter as recommended by the waitress/hostess/cashier since we had a party of 3. The chicken was extremely crispy, moist, juicy and well seasoned. The squid and fries as well, minus the juicy moist part. Lol Every sauce flavor was great. I couldn't even rank them from favorite to least favorite. To me, they were all equally good, just depends what you're in the mood for at the time. You can't go wrong either way, unless you're just a picky eater and don't like certain things like garlic, green onion, soy sauce, honey, etc. Lol But honestly, you don't even need the sauce! I would have been perfectly happy with the entire platter and no sauces! The pickled daikon confused me as first with the color added. I'm so used to seeing it just white, but it was perfectly crunchy, sweet and vinegary. Compliments to the chef! Portion size is generous. It was listed as for 3 people, but it could have fed 4 no problem. Oops, I forgot to mention the coleslaw thing. It was just meh. Basically thousand Island dressing with thinly shredded cabbage. Pretty basic so you can't go wrong, but nothing special about it, but don't let that final note be what you remember. Remember the delicious chicken! Lol We were all stuffed and had some fries left to take home. The waitress wrote thank you and drew a cute face on it! Haha I love it! After eating, I stayed a bit and talked with them about my journey and why I was there and it turned into a Tesla talk! Haha Oooh boy, I love me some good Tesla talk! I'm known for it amongst my friends and family. Lol Meanwhile my brother and his wife were just waiting to go. I didn't want to leave. Haha Anyways, great place, great people, great food! I definitely recommend coming here for some amazing fried chicken and all the other stuff! Hopefully you all enjoy it was much as I did and will in the future!
