We were strolling through Atlantic Times Square Plaza, minding our own business, when all of a sudden a Daiso appears like a bright treasure cave. Hubby insisted we check it out. Within minutes, we're knee-deep in plushies, cute pens, and enough trinkets to fill a dragon's hoard... on a budget. They're already rolling out the Christmas merch!! Grabbed some of those too!! Daiso is basically the cooler, classier cousin of the dollar store... the one w better taste but still loves a good bargain.

One of the largest Daisos I've ever seen. You want pens? There's a billion to chose from. You want decorations? There's a trillion to chose from. You want household items? Sure, they got that too. Parking is free (hallelujah). The employees are really nice. And the mall that this Daiso is in is a really nice, cute local mall in MP that does a lot with the little bit of space that it occupies. If you're in town, definitely check out this Daiso. I dare you to go in and not come out with something.

This Daiso store is located in a busy plaza in Monterey park, conveniently located next to free way. There's an underground paneling structure, shaded with the movie theater and other restaurants. It's crowded inside, and apparently understaffed, had to wait cashier to come to the front for checkout.

Located in the same area as the AMC theater and usually my go-to Daiso. The store is well-organized. I was looking for some boxes, and I was able to find some by the wall. Lots of cute things to find here!

CASHIER WOMAN STOLE FROM DAISO OLDER female cashier with short brownish/red hair wearing a mask and speaks in a Chinese accent stole 5 lighters today. I went back to buy an additional pack of 50 lighters and brought a FILLED pack to check the lighters to the cashier. Even though I did bring all 50 lighters to her, I noticed that 5 was missing from the box after her and I finished checking each lighter fluid individually. I didn't think much into it and just grabbed 5 more from the other boxes to complete my purchase. For a minute I thought that the vibes were weirdly off because there was 5 missing when I remember taking all 50 up. It wasn't until I retraced everything. The cashier didn't technically stole from me which I'm relieved, she stole from the store... which still is bad morale. In Chinese the number "5" sounds like "me"/我. So she took 5 lighters for herself. "me"/我 (aka herself) It's the principle and I didn't like that I was involved in this $5 heist. And if the old lady thought I didn't notice I'm Lol and posting here.

Pretty display

Miss Helen works MAGIC when it comes to QiPao designs. I was looking around for a QiPao to wear to…read moremy graduation and stumbled upon Brocade Apparel after multiple failed attempts of finding a well fitting, generic QiPao in Chinatown. I am very glad that I decided to come to Brocade to see Helen. I did not have an appointment, but Helen took me in graciously. Which she did not have to since she does state on her website that appointment are REQUIRED. I clearly did not read it carefully enough at the time. I told her where some of my insecurities were and she explained that QiPaos look best on people who have some extra meat and fluff to them and she was able to point on what type of designs would help accentuate my natural curves. She rushed my order a bit as I did not know that QiPaos that are custom takes a minimum of 3-4 months to make. I had the basic QiPao design and Helen added the sleeves for me although there is normally an extra charge to add sleeves to QiPaos. Please DO NOT throw away your receipt since you have to text that to her the day before the fitting so she can track your dress. I had a initial fitting in mid November and I received my dress about 3 weeks after since I had gained some weight and the dress needed to be altered to go up a size. In the end it all worked out and I had my beautiful, pure silk QiPao just in time for my photoshoot. Everyone who saw me in the QiPao could not stop complimenting me on the day of my photoshoot and the day of my graduation. I had never felt more confident in clothing than putting on the QiPao. I am so grateful for this experience with Helen in designing a custom QiPao. Also, expect that basic QiPaos are a minimum of $500 and up. If you want embroidery, I was told that it will be a minimum of about $1,000+. Prices are due to change based on the economy of course. Helen also informed me that she can design other clothing besides QiPaos and I had even noticed some wedding dresses in her changing room. I will definitely go back to Helen when I get married to design another dress. She also informed me her busy season tends to be from Jan/Feb until end of August as that is when Lunar New Year and Wedding Season is, so expect a longer turn-around time during that period.

Great service and beautiful qipao! She was extremely helpful and accommodating as we were from out…read moreof town.

I've been shopping at Tenshoppe since they first opened in Highland Park (even back when it was…read moreFashion 21 IYKYK). Big supporter of local businesses in my community. They have started to skew a lot younger so I mainly go for gifts. This holiday season I did the same. The sales person at the time of purchase mentioned that I had until Jan 10h for holiday returns. Today (1/4/26) I went in to return one item... from the moment I walked in the employee hanging out at the counter was displeased seeing me walk in with a bag & it showed. I was a retail manager for 4 years so I know how much we hate returns but I would never show it because that's customer service! Anywho I went in with my original receipt only to be told that because I didn't have a gift receipt I couldn't return it. I asked for an explanation because since when is a gift receipt better than an original receipt to get a full refund?!?? I couldn't tell you if the store policy sign was there when I purchased it or not but I KNOW I was never told or asked if I would need a gift receipt for a holiday return. Even so, receipt at hand, tags on, and item was in new condition. You would think that the manager would offer something like a store credit because the policy makes no sense. But no, she just had a smirk and cocky attitude. Lesson learned though, don't shop here ever again, supporting local business shouldn't mean buying overpriced clothes like a $32 basic white long sleeve.

I've been a loyal customer here for over 4 years and have done countless hauls -- this has always…read morebeen one of my go-to stores for current fashion. I really appreciate the wide variety of styles and trendy pieces they offer, whether it's for special occasions, parties, or everyday wear. The pricing is generally fair for the quality, and I've never had issues with items wearing out after just a couple of uses. I also like that they start a fitting room for you, which makes shopping a lot easier. That said, there are a few areas I think could use improvement. Size availability is a big one -- once an item sells out, sizes don't get replenished, which can be frustrating. On my most recent visit, I also noticed sizing has shifted to run much smaller than it used to. I'm usually a medium and sometimes a small, but I found myself squeezing into large sizes. This makes me worry about inclusivity, especially for shoppers who rely on plus sizing. Customer service is another area where I've consistently felt the experience could be better. The team often comes across as unapproachable or disengaged, like they're just there for a paycheck. While they are polite when you do ask for help, it rarely feels genuine or welcoming. It almost makes me question the manager's maturity and experience because why are they hiring these young girls without customer service skills? Is it because they pay very little? A little warmth would go a long way in making customers feel comfortable. Finally, the return policy could be clearer. While the store offers returns within 14 days, I once had an issue trying to return a holiday-themed item. Even though it wasn't worn, it was flagged as "special occasion" and not returnable. The only notice was a small sign at the register. Policies like that should really be communicated by cashiers at checkout so customers aren't caught off guard. I now warn friends to be very mindful about potential returns here. Overall, I still shop here often and continue to love many of the styles and finds, but I think with improvements in customer service, clearer return policies, and a stronger focus on size inclusivity, this store could truly shine.
