Who would've thought that they sell Santa sack bags? These were perfect for me in presenting my gifts to family. They also were selling Santa outfits with beard and all! The store is pretty up to date with seasonal items, which you can see them selling Halloween, Valentine's Day, Thanksgiving items when the time comes. This location is a bit smaller than a typical stand alone store but it serves me well. Parking is free in the structure so no complaints there! read more

Hello Yelpers! If you're a Daiso fan (as I am), you may be a bit disappointed at this Monterey Park location -- it's a smaller store with narrower aisles, and lots of "excuse me, excuse me" will ensue here. I wish they would take one aisle out and spread the rest of them around. Excuse me. Otherwise, Daiso merchandise continues to be a hit, offering upscale 99-Cent-Only stuff, though its 150-cent-only here. You cannot go into this store without seeing at least 10 items you "need." Gents, check out the guy's socks. $1.50! Daiso life hack, indeed. read more

I came here last Sunday to do some shopping but realised the cashier lady overcharged me by an extra pocket tissue pack $2.25 (I bought 2 instead of 3). So I called the store and they told me to come to the store to fix it. I came today around 8 pm after work and told an Asian guy with glasses at the cashier about the issue. He asked why don't I just grab an extra pack to make up for it but I told him I don't want to as the 2 packets I bought will take me a long time to use. He looked unhappy and then open his till and threw the refund of notes and coins on the table. No apologies for the over charging and not a word of thank you. I have been shopping here for years and didn't realise people are not welcomed for a refund for mistakes they made. So much effort and trouble to get a small refund. This is bad service and I can see an integrity issue here. read more

Daiso - Discount Store Near Me - Monterey Park, California

I love this store, don't listen to what others say "Bad experience with locals" that has literally nothing to do with the store and giving it a bad rating. DAISO is super cute and has a lot of stuff to choose from. I especially love their card section, they always have the cutest sleeves. The packaging area is also cute ^_^ All the stuff are cheap so don't complain if something broke easily, you got what you payed for. Honestly the quality isn't that bad. read more

I love daiso! So many cute stuff! This location is big and they have a lot of items that you can buy for like. $1 or $1.50 I got a mini Christmas tree that is $1.50 and mini decorations for $1. Worth it! Wow right! By the way if you want to get cute stuff for your kitchen this place has it all! :) read more

Daiso - Discount Store Near Me - Monterey Park, California

Walked out with $50 worth of goodies! damn I wanted to buy the whole store! When I got home with all my goodies it looked like I just came back from a trip to Taiwan. Daiso has everything from utensils, cosmetics, stationary, snacks, to pet supplies! Pretty much everything I bought was $1.50 except for this ceramic pot that was $2.50 (if it is more than $1.50 they will label the item with a sticker). I felt most of the products was well worth the price tag although there were also some items that were made with cheaper quality. There are no returns so make sure you absolutely love what you are getting! $1.50 is cheap but it can pile up fast if you are grabbing everything you want in the store. *Tip The store is located in the Atlantic Plaza in Monterey Park. It isn't visible from the street so turn on Hellman and park in the underground parking lot. Then go up the escalator from the parking garage and the store is to the left. read more

Daiso - Bought too much cute shit I don't need. All for under $50. - Discount Store Near Me - Monterey Park, California

What if a 99 cents store and a Uniqlo store had a baby? You would end up with Daiso! -------------------------- This is one of the most interesting discount stores I've been to. Most American discount stores are rather sloppy and poorly stocked / unkempt (look no further than your local Ross store). This place offers a champagne taste, on a Miller High Life budget! Almost everything is $1.50 each. Do you need a door stopper? $1.50. What about cooking supplies like a spider? $1.50. And what about an iPhone 5 screen protector? Also $1.50. Some of the other items are oddly priced - dish washing liquid, $1. Clay pot, $2. USB mouse, $6. The coolest part of the experience was the constant stream of J Pop music in the background, like you were furiously playing a game of Dance, Dance Revolution. All while shopping in a discount store! This was an awesome experience - definitely worth checking out. Last note - all sales final. No refunds. $10 minimum for credit cards. read more

Daisooooo When I first heard of Daiso as a Japanese equivalent to a 99 cent store, I expected it to be much smaller. It's a big store, but the aisles are so narrow, garhh I was there yesterday and this glass shelf in the back of the store somehow broke and shattered all over the floor... Surprisingly (but thankfully) no one was standing underneath or too close to it. This store is full of cute things, useful and not, and pretty cheap at $1.50 each for most items. I got orange kitchen items to match my orange pots :D , laundry bags, plastic containers, kitchen stuff, cleaning stuff, organizing stuff, toiletry stuff... and random stuff like a freakin haircut cape that has lifted edges to catch hair... ahhaha! All sales are final! And there's a $10 minimum to use credit card. read more

Daiso - This store is way bigger than I expected - Discount Store Near Me - Monterey Park, California

I love Daiso Japan. $1.50 everything! My friend ask me if I wanna check out Daiso Japan. I didn't know what it was. When you come here you will see it's a $1.50 shop. The trick like all the 99 cents or $1 shops is to get customers to purchase items, which are worth less than what you'll pay. You don't care, you just want to buy while your're on a shopping spree, even if it's a piece of leaf for $1.50. The huge different between Daiso Japan and other discount stores is the neatness and a certain fragrant smell, which both comes with the word Japan. I found the atmosphere pretty calm. I didn't buy a lot but this place definitely has a lot to offer. And you'll find a lot of things cheaper here compared to other places. read more

Worst store ever %100 fail Daiso Japan in California doesn't even accept Apple pay I was about to check out and the lady said sorry we don't accept Apple Pay this happened tonight around 7P. From best to The Worst experience having to feel ashamed. People using Apple Pay or Android Pay I would never recommend shopping at any Daiso Japan stores even Marukai especially here in California. The Daiso Japan stores need to setup their Apple Pay system. What year is this 1950? You guys need to update your guys system. Shame on you guys. One star but No stars. read more

This is my favorite store for cute Japanese gifts and random goodies! :) I love looking at the stationary items, holiday decorations, origami paper, journals, and other cute Japanese things. Most of the items they have for sale are $1.50 and the bigger items can be more like $3-5. FYI, it's a $10 minimum for credit card purchases and bring your own bag otherwise you'll have to pay for a paper brown bag. And there's no return or exchanges. Definitely better quality than the dollar store or 99 cent store. read more

This particular location of Daiso is one of the first that I'd visited. During my most recent visit I was able to snag a whole bunch of fun Disney items: reusable bags, stationary, writing utensils, dishwater, bathroom toiletries, household items and more. I found lots of little mini lego type sets. They are pretty tough to put together, I found out, after having sent some of 'em to some friends' kiddos. The adults even struggled to assemble them. I find greeting cards here all the time as well that are inexpensive. I have purchased some dishes and small utensils here as well. they have quite a variety of things, most of them have been useful. There aren't many workers here to help you throughout the store but this is really the kind of store that you wander around and just browse through everything. I love the very improved organization of things in the store now. It is much clearer and there are more feet in between aisles. I'm not sure if this was done for covid-19 reasons or if the store has just finally been reorganized. Either way, that has been an improvement. read more

I frequent this location, and I have to say that over the years it has improved and it's no longer chaotic and cluttered, with boxes all up in the aisles. They have cleaned up and made every aisle so fun, and fully stocked. I come here for my recent, new hobby: collecting little erasers that look like food. I don't use the eraser, I just display them on my work desk. So cute, and they also have erasers of dinosaurs, zoo animals, farm animals, and vehicles for the kids to "collect." You can get anything here, like those arm sleeves to block the sun. You don't have to have yo Momma sew them for you anymore. I like the cute gardening things, like pots, watering cans for the kids, and this metal hoe-rake combo tool with a wooden handle. They even sell this tall, 120cm green rod to hold up your tall house plants. I have bought several of those, along with bentos, a sushi roller, and the ever tantalizing chocolate panda snacks near the cash register. read more

I like the location because theres a lot of places you can go in this mall. Lots of restaurants, dessert places, makeup stores and such. But this Daiso sucks. It's small compared to other ones in the area and they are always low on stock. Theres some stuff that I always purchase from Daiso and they are cotton pads, nose peel-off masks and cotton swabs. Overtime I go, they never have 2 of the above. Cotton pads are now really hard to find so I have to go to multiple locations to get them. And nose peel-off marks are either low or none. As for the cotton swabs, I like the pointy and the black ones and usually they do carry both or one of them. Customer service is fine however I wish they have more merchandise because they have a lot of empty shelves. I prefer driving further and go to the one in San Gabriel located in the same plaza as 99 Ranch Market. They're bigger, less people and carry more merchandise for purchase. read more

One of my favorite store chain for handy kitchen/bathroom/laundry items, organizing shelves, gardening tools/pots, stationary, and just general knickknacks you know you don't really need but it's just so cute so you had to buy it. You'll find a use for it, don't you worry! This particular branch used to be extremely busy when it first opened, but after the Valley branch and another Daiso down near ELAC opened, this place is now manageable. Stock is kept up for the most part as well due to less people coming here. There is also new stuff every now and then as well, which makes it fun to come by and check out every so often (more often than I should be anyways). read more

I was surprised to read the reviews of this particular Daiso. Some people say it's their least favorite Daiso. I had to see it for myself and I was so happy to have Daiso in SGV. The outside is similar to the 100¥ store @ Harajuku, Tokyo. The inside is way too crowded with narrow aisles. I had to say "excuse me" at least twice per aisle. Multiply that with the number of aisles and number of times. This location is ridiculously too small. I felt like I was shopping for Black Friday. Gardena store was crowded too during grand opening but it was comfortable. I had to leave after staying inside for less than 10 minutes because I got a headache and couldn't breathe. Imagine the customers with asthma problem or claustrophobics. No, I don't have asthma problem and I usually enjoy crowds. I wonder if they sell oxygen tank for $1.50 here. The announcements are in both Japanese & Chinese. Why they have way too many signs warning the customers. Is it because of the area? Kinda insulting, no? This is definitely the worst Daiso for me. Packed, kinda messy and disorganized. I'll stick to Daiso in Gardena even though it's kinda far. I was too afraid to check out any aisles with breakable items. They really need to remove some aisles seriously...think about the fire code. Fire hazard!! Yes, I agree with the yelpers who say this is their least favorite Daiso. It's mine too. read more

While about average in size for a Daiso location, the new Monterey Park location has narrower aisles - meaning there's about the same amount of merchandise as a larger location crammed in. And Daiso locations are few and far between in SoCal. Like your typical Daiso, most items are $1.50. It's amazing what $1.50 can get you, including housewares (trays, bowls, mugs, glasses), toys, crafts (yarn, stickers, clay, notepads, origami), stationery (pens, paper, tape, erasers), gift wrap, kitchen items (baking, gadgets, containers, strainers), cleaning supplies, travel supplies, cosmetics, snacks, garden items, wearable accessories (socks, hats, gloves). The collection of sponges here isn't quite as cute. It's pretty well organized with category signs. You can find plenty of free parking, Asian eateries, and Asian gift shops at Atlantic Times Square. My picks: * Strawberry or apple garbage cans ($1.50 each) * Daily planners ($1.50 each) read more

****** A nicer and cuter version of your local 99 Cents Store ***** Daiso is basically the 99 cents store of Japan. They have over 2500 locations in Japan and another 500 overseas. The last couple of years it started tot expand to the U.S. 40% of their items are made in China with most of their items being an in house brand. Thumbs UP: + You find items here that you will most likely not find anywhere else. + Some item likes a $4 Fedora is hard to beat in any store. + Majority of their items are actually useful in some aspect. + The first Daiso opened in San Gabriel Valley. + Some shoppers would like pink signs everywhere in the store, but they definitely add their own style. Thumbs Down: - The store felt more like a liquid store pack with 99 cents store customer volume. - Their return policy is like those found in Chinatown (NO RETURN OR EXCHANGE) Note: * Unlike typical 99 cents stores they do not carry fruit or vegetables here. * Avoid weekends when it's the most crowded to least avoid awful parking in the plaza. * Minimum of $10 required for all Credit Card Purchases (Visa and MasterCard Only) ! My 2 Cent * Everything from the store you can get elsewhere, but expect to pay a higher price. You will not find Manga here, but it has really just a cuter and more upscale feeling than a 99 cents store with Japanese text despite it still being made in China. read more

Daiso in the 626! What a nice present when I stumbled upon this new location on Christmas afternoon. Daiso is the Japanese version of the Dollar store. Except everything here is for $1.50. Not all Daisos are created equal. I think the Bible says that somewhere. 70% of the stuff is about the same (stainless steel bowls, origami paper, horse oil shampoo) but the 30% varies across store to store. This Daiso tends to have a better 30% than other ones. This one has really cute Japanese paper products. I bought a few printed envelopes. I have no idea what I'm gonna do with them though. But they look nice. Be warned: Daiso products are higher quality than your average dollar store but they could also be pure crap too. One time I got plastic to go containers that couldn't be closed - I had to tie a rubber band around it. Things tend to look more useful than they actually are. If Dollar Tree and "that cute Japanese store at the mall" had a baby, it would be Daiso. This place is located in the Atlantic Square plaza -- which parking can be pure madness, if you're a newbie. Anyways, my mom actually introduced me here-- which is now such a nightmare because I can't seem to stop spending $$$. You're probably wondering, spending $$$ on what!? Well, this place is similar to the Dollar Tree, but MOST items are $1.50. If items are not $1.50, then there would be a tag on it with a different price. But to answer your question, I spend $$$ on anything and everything. *SAD LIFE* Having said, there is practically everything here -- from watches to face wash to even delicious orgasmic Japanese goodies like Hi-Chews! But beware, those $1.50 items can rack up, and create a massive hole in your wallet -- just like what happened to me :'( Overall, I love it here and I would definitely come back. The only problem is that this place can get crowded. And once it becomes crowded, this place gets stuffy -- and everybody seems to be in your way. Being a diva, I hate crowds -- and long lines, so BOO to that. But, you'd probably see me coming here again soon... possibly tomorrow... Low lights: - Parking. - Can get crowded. - Not refunds. High lights: - MOST ITEMS ARE $1.50! read more

Not my favorite Daiso store at all. I would say if you want to go to a Daiso store maybe head on over to the Temple City location. This store is super crowded all the time and you will be bumping into people left and right. It is semi annoying and really hard to shop in this store. Daiso is from Japan and they have many store locations all around the world I can't believe it took them so long to enter into America but I am glad that they have. It is a store that is well organized with multiple items from things for your kitchen, bathroom, laundry, school supplies and much more. If this is the only store you can go to then I would suggest not coming here on the weekends because it is a zoo. read more

I have a love - hate relationship here. I'm not sure how I always find myself in this store (yes I do - I'm at the fluff ice, AMC, or curry house).. I love to come in and peruse. It's like the asian-knicknack store like target. Somehow you never know what you really purchased, but you walked out with $10 of stuff. They have random useful knicknacks - stuff for the kitchen, containers for makeup, toiletries, stuff for school, hair stuff, etc. My latest find - vacuum sealed bags! For traveling! My friend had told me they existed, and hey for $1.50 each bag, why not try to stuff my suitcase for traveling and all. :) Hehe. Good stuff! This Daiso is located at the Atlantic Times Square - on the corner of Atlantic and Hellman (it's part of the inner mall, not the side that faces Atlantic. There's an AMC, fluff ice, lots of restaurants, and now a cool knicknack store! Parking isn't too bad - street is up to 20 minutes. There are two levels of parking. Who wouldn't want a Daiso in their hood? I was excited to come to a local Daiso since the Irvine location is too far away. I was *not* excited about the crowded isles or the people constantly bumping into me. There really wasn't any room to put a shopping basket down, let alone avoid people. What you need to know: -Everything in the store is $1.50 unless marked otherwise -Most everything is made in China -No return or exchange (check your items carefully!) -You'll most likely find that storage/organizational solution you need here! Daiso - Opening Day 12/22/12 - Discount Store Near Me - Monterey Park, California

This is the fourth Grand Opening of Daiso I've been to this year. First was Irvine: Great and organized. Loved the Taiko players. Second was Gardena: Horrible and not prepared and the manager looked at me funny when I said I did not want a $2 item. Third was Anaheim: Great! Probably was the best one thus far, everything scanned correctly and walked out with $40 worth of items. Fourth: This one in Montery Park. Waited 2 hours in line ever since we arrived at 10am and we just missed out on the goodie bag. The line was long due to the heavy concentration of Asian folks in the area. I picked up a Sake set but when I got to the register, they said it was $7. There were no stickers indicating the different price. Oh wells, I knew that was too good to be true. Better experience than Gardena. I think they did their best to accommodate everyone in line. There's not much okashi (candy) in this store and not much Christmas items. I did pick up a few things like gift bags , air freshners, and some CD cases. Also, I did not win anything from the drawing (like a Dyson vacuum) but I will keep on trying! Parking here is underground , free and is plenty if you don't come peak hours. read more

Never heard of Daiso, that is until after we had lunch here at the Atlantic Square and the wife took me here. What a crowded, chaotic mess. For those of you who have heard of Daiso, you know exactly what this is and don't need to read further. But for newbies like me... it's a store that sells a lot of unnecessary items but since they're mostly priced at $1.50, you convince yourself it's a necessity. Most items are for girls (ok, young ladies): make-up items, cutesy shaped random things...very typical of Asian stores. For me, I found retractable iPhone chargers, and for a buck fitty, it became a necessity. Also got a couple of phone covers. These items probably sell for over $15. at places like Best Buy. So yes, I can be a fan if I find things I personally need. Other than that.... I'd try to avoid this place due to the crowds, especially on the weekends! read more

Everything is $1.50 or less (unless it's marked differently). This is Japan's version of a dollar store. They have lots of cool things here. The Japanese are very creative and can make the some really neat stuff you would not even think of. I came here the other night because my friend wanted to try the Japanese hair bands that her hair salon woman told her about. I was told the hair bands are better for Asian hair. They wrap around four times and are more snug than the ones that are sold in American stores. I'll take her word for it. If you are looking for anything interesting, cool, then give Daiso a try. However, beware, you may end up spending more money than you planned. This location is in the Atlantic Times Square shopping area. Xie Xie! read more

So incredibly crowded...staff seems very high strung, but then they must be stressed by all the equally rude and inconsiderate customers they get all the time. Forget about coming here on the weekends... By the way, if you're not a size XS, 00 pants size, don't even bother going in. The little aisles are too small to accomodate most people...my bodybuilder bf (not saying he's big, but he's a 6 foot guy who wears a size Large) couldn't walk through without bumping something off the racks every few steps. Make the drive to rowland for your $1.50 goods if you REALLy need them. read more

So don't get me wrong, I absolutely LOVE Daiso, just not the one in Monterey Park :( Cons: Extremely extremely cramped compared to other Daiso's. They basically try to pack everything a normal Daiso has into a really small room with super small aisles. Because it is in Monterey Park, all the Asians (including myself) flock over there because a $1.50 store with awesome products is pretty amazing.....BUT IT GETS SO CROWDED :( It is even difficult to carry a basket around. The line usually gets really crazy..so BEWARE! Pros: Many things are $1.50! Not everything is $1.50 but you can find a lot of useful things that a normal dollar store won't offer. read more

I always love coming to this Daiso for a few reasons: its location and its items. I live about 5 minutes away from this plaza so if I'm in the mood I can walk here to do a little bit of shopping or I can eat at any of the many restaurants! Always a win win for me :D The last time I came here it was a Saturday and it was really packed! But it wasn't overcrowded to the point where I felt overwhelmed and no personal space, which is good. There are so many household items to choose from and they are mainly $1.50! Such a steal! Some items are a little more, probably in the $3 or $5 range, but all prices are extremely reasonable. The only thing I don't like is that they don't offer exchanges or returns. If you don't offer returns, can't you at least offer exchanges? That day I actually bought a wooden cutting board and I decided I want to exchange for something else but the girl told me no refunds or exchanges which sucks. I know its only $1.50, but what if you really didn't need the item? I am more concerned with the product going to waste rather than my money. But asides from that, I am really happy that the line always moves quickly. Even when there is a long line, you'll get to the cash register in less than 5 or 10 minutes. That doesn't happen at too many places. Also, I prefer walking here on weekends as opposed to driving here because it is always hard to find parking. Although there is a large underground parking garage, it will take you forever to find a spot unless you are willing to park on the 4th or 5th underground level. I always come here when I need baking appliances, cleaning appliances, or any other kitchenware. In addition, they have a lot of decor items that are perfect for decorating your house or for decorating/ wrapping gifts. I can easily say that I will never get tired of this place. read more

This is probably my least favorite Daiso. Why? - aisles are SUPER narrow - stuff is not very organized - ATS = crappy parking situation - smaller store = not as much variety of stuff I always feel super claustrophobic when I come here. There's another Daiso on Atlantic closer to the 60 fwy. I would definitely hit that one up before braving this one. I'm also super spoiled by the large and clean Daiso in Gardena near my bf's place. And I guess now there is a Daiso in San Gabriel also? Which means you now have plenty of options! read more

SCORE OF THE WEEK! I love great deals. This is the Japanese version of the dollar store but the quality is so much better. I thought I was walking into an Asian trinket store but when I saw the pretty upscale storefront I had no idea what to expect. I can't believe I just now found this place but better late than never. School supplies, car accessories, dishes, nice birthday cards and fancy gift boxes & gift bags, kitchen ware, laundry supplies, pet products, make up, Asian facial stuff and Asian snacks. Oh, there's so much more! Japanese packaging is adorable which makes the items even tougher not to buy. Seriously, what does a cute monkey have to do with a toilet brush? I especially loved the kitchen tool section. There were a variety of knives, wine tools and kitchen supplies. Fold down colander's, egg shapers, multi sized whisks and spatulas, so many things that make kitchen prep easier and all in fun colors and designs. Everything is $1.50 unless marked otherwise. Underground parking is free....YAY! I would plan on spending a few hours. There are lots of Asian stores around the plaza. Candy shops, arcades, sushi and curry restaurants, Cold Stone, yogurt shops, The Face Shop and Amore Pacific to name a few. read more
