Daiso has everything from utensils, cosmetics, stationary, snacks, to pet supplies! Pretty much everything I bought was $1.50 except for this ceramic pot that was $2.50 (if it is more than $1.50 they will label the item with a sticker). I felt most of the products was well worth the price tag although there were also some items that were made with cheaper quality. There are no returns so make sure you absolutely love what you are getting! $1.50 is cheap but it can pile up fast if you are grabbing everything you want in the store. *Tip The store is located in the Atlantic Plaza in Monterey Park. Most American discount stores are rather sloppy and poorly stocked / unkempt (look no further than your local Ross store). This place offers a champagne taste, on a Miller High Life budget! Almost everything is $1.50 each. Do you need a door stopper? $1.50. What about cooking supplies like a spider? $1.50. And what about an iPhone 5 screen protector? Also $1.50. Some of the other items are oddly priced - dish washing liquid, $1. Clay pot, $2. USB mouse, $6. The coolest part of the experience was the constant stream of J Pop music in the background, like you were furiously playing a game of Dance, Dance Revolution. All while shopping in a discount store! Daisooooo When I first heard of Daiso as a Japanese equivalent to a 99 cent store, I expected it to be much smaller. It's a big store, but the aisles are so narrow, garhh I was there yesterday and this glass shelf in the back of the store somehow broke and shattered all over the floor... Surprisingly (but thankfully) no one was standing underneath or too close to it. This store is full of cute things, useful and not, and pretty cheap at $1.50 each for most items. I got orange kitchen items to match my orange pots :D , laundry bags, plastic containers, kitchen stuff, cleaning stuff, organizing stuff, toiletry stuff... and random stuff like a freakin haircut cape that has lifted edges to catch hair... ahhaha! I love Daiso Japan. $1.50 everything! My friend ask me if I wanna check out Daiso Japan. I didn't know what it was. When you come here you will see it's a $1.50 shop. The trick like all the 99 cents or $1 shops is to get customers to purchase items, which are worth less than what you'll pay. You don't care, you just want to buy while your're on a shopping spree, even if it's a piece of leaf for $1.50. The huge different between Daiso Japan and other discount stores is the neatness and a certain fragrant smell, which both comes with the word Japan. I found the atmosphere pretty calm. I didn't buy a lot but this place definitely has a lot to offer. And you'll find a lot of things cheaper here compared to other places. read more

This is my favorite store for cute Japanese gifts and random goodies! :) I love looking at the stationary items, holiday decorations, origami paper, journals, and other cute Japanese things. Most of the items they have for sale are $1.50 and the bigger items can be more like $3-5. FYI, it's a $10 minimum for credit card purchases and bring your own bag otherwise you'll have to pay for a paper brown bag. And there's no return or exchanges. This particular location of Daiso is one of the first that I'd visited. During my most recent visit I was able to snag a whole bunch of fun Disney items: reusable bags, stationary, writing utensils, dishwater, bathroom toiletries, household items and more. I found lots of little mini lego type sets. They are pretty tough to put together, I found out, after having sent some of 'em to some friends' kiddos. The adults even struggled to assemble them. I find greeting cards here all the time as well that are inexpensive. I have purchased some dishes and small utensils here as well. they have quite a variety of things, most of them have been useful. There aren't many workers here to help you throughout the store but this is really the kind of store that you wander around and just browse through everything. I love the very improved organization of things in the store now. It is much clearer and there are more feet in between aisles. I'm not sure if this was done for covid-19 reasons or if the store has just finally been reorganized. Either way, that has been an improvement. read more

I frequent this location, and I have to say that over the years it has improved and it's no longer chaotic and cluttered, with boxes all up in the aisles. They have cleaned up and made every aisle so fun, and fully stocked. I come here for my recent, new hobby: collecting little erasers that look like food. I don't use the eraser, I just display them on my work desk. So cute, and they also have erasers of dinosaurs, zoo animals, farm animals, and vehicles for the kids to "collect." You can get anything here, like those arm sleeves to block the sun. You don't have to have yo Momma sew them for you anymore. I like the cute gardening things, like pots, watering cans for the kids, and this metal hoe-rake combo tool with a wooden handle. They even sell this tall, 120cm green rod to hold up your tall house plants. I have bought several of those, along with bentos, a sushi roller, and the ever tantalizing chocolate panda snacks near the cash register. read more

I like the location because theres a lot of places you can go in this mall. Lots of restaurants, dessert places, makeup stores and such. But this Daiso sucks. It's small compared to other ones in the area and they are always low on stock. Theres some stuff that I always purchase from Daiso and they are cotton pads, nose peel-off masks and cotton swabs. Overtime I go, they never have 2 of the above. Cotton pads are now really hard to find so I have to go to multiple locations to get them. And nose peel-off marks are either low or none. As for the cotton swabs, I like the pointy and the black ones and usually they do carry both or one of them. Customer service is fine however I wish they have more merchandise because they have a lot of empty shelves. I prefer driving further and go to the one in San Gabriel located in the same plaza as 99 Ranch Market. They're bigger, less people and carry more merchandise for purchase. read more

One of my favorite store chain for handy kitchen/bathroom/laundry items, organizing shelves, gardening tools/pots, stationary, and just general knickknacks you know you don't really need but it's just so cute so you had to buy it. You'll find a use for it, don't you worry! This particular branch used to be extremely busy when it first opened, but after the Valley branch and another Daiso down near ELAC opened, this place is now manageable. Stock is kept up for the most part as well due to less people coming here. Not all Daisos are created equal. I think the Bible says that somewhere. 70% of the stuff is about the same (stainless steel bowls, origami paper, horse oil shampoo) but the 30% varies across store to store. This Daiso tends to have a better 30% than other ones. This one has really cute Japanese paper products. I bought a few printed envelopes. I have no idea what I'm gonna do with them though. But they look nice. Be warned: Daiso products are higher quality than your average dollar store but they could also be pure crap too. One time I got plastic to go containers that couldn't be closed - I had to tie a rubber band around it. Things tend to look more useful than they actually are. I was surprised to read the reviews of this particular Daiso. Some people say it's their least favorite Daiso. I had to see it for myself and I was so happy to have Daiso in SGV. The outside is similar to the 100¥ store @ Harajuku, Tokyo. The inside is way too crowded with narrow aisles. I had to say "excuse me" at least twice per aisle. Multiply that with the number of aisles and number of times. This location is ridiculously too small. I felt like I was shopping for Black Friday. Gardena store was crowded too during grand opening but it was comfortable. I had to leave after staying inside for less than 10 minutes because I got a headache and couldn't breathe. Imagine the customers with asthma problem or claustrophobics. No, I don't have asthma problem and I usually enjoy crowds. I wonder if they sell oxygen tank for $1.50 here. The announcements are in both Japanese & Chinese. Why they have way too many signs warning the customers. Is it because of the area? Kinda insulting, no? This is definitely the worst Daiso for me. Packed, kinda messy and disorganized. I'll stick to Daiso in Gardena even though it's kinda far. I was too afraid to check out any aisles with breakable items. Not my favorite Daiso store at all. I would say if you want to go to a Daiso store maybe head on over to the Temple City location. This store is super crowded all the time and you will be bumping into people left and right. It is semi annoying and really hard to shop in this store. I have a love - hate relationship here. I'm not sure how I always find myself in this store (yes I do - I'm at the fluff ice, AMC, or curry house).. I love to come in and peruse. This is the fourth Grand Opening of Daiso I've been to this year. First was Irvine: Great and organized. Loved the Taiko players. Second was Gardena: Horrible and not prepared and the manager looked at me funny when I said I did not want a $2 item. Third was Anaheim: Great! Probably was the best one thus far, everything scanned correctly and walked out with $40 worth of items. Fourth: This one in Montery Park. Waited 2 hours in line ever since we arrived at 10am and we just missed out on the goodie bag. The line was long due to the heavy concentration of Asian folks in the area. I picked up a Sake set but when I got to the register, they said it was $7. There were no stickers indicating the different price. Oh wells, I knew that was too good to be true. Better experience than Gardena. I think they did their best to accommodate everyone in line. There's not much okashi (candy) in this store and not much Christmas items. I did pick up a few things like gift bags , air freshners, and some CD cases. Also, I did not win anything from the drawing (like a Dyson vacuum) but I will keep on trying! For those of you who have heard of Daiso, you know exactly what this is and don't need to read further. But for newbies like me... it's a store that sells a lot of unnecessary items but since they're mostly priced at $1.50, you convince yourself it's a necessity. Most items are for girls (ok, young ladies): make-up items, cutesy shaped random things...very typical of Asian stores. For me, I found retractable iPhone chargers, and for a buck fitty, it became a necessity. Also got a couple of phone covers. These items probably sell for over $15. at places like Best Buy. The Japanese are very creative and can make the some really neat stuff you would not even think of. I came here the other night because my friend wanted to try the Japanese hair bands that her hair salon woman told her about. I was told the hair bands are better for Asian hair. They wrap around four times and are more snug than the ones that are sold in American stores. I'll take her word for it. If you are looking for anything interesting, cool, then give Daiso a try. They basically try to pack everything a normal Daiso has into a really small room with super small aisles. Because it is in Monterey Park, all the Asians (including myself) flock over there because a $1.50 store with awesome products is pretty amazing.....BUT IT GETS SO CROWDED :( It is even difficult to carry a basket around. I always love coming to this Daiso for a few reasons: its location and its items. I live about 5 minutes away from this plaza so if I'm in the mood I can walk here to do a little bit of shopping or I can eat at any of the many restaurants! Always a win win for me :D The last time I came here it was a Saturday and it was really packed! But it wasn't overcrowded to the point where I felt overwhelmed and no personal space, which is good. There are so many household items to choose from and they are mainly $1.50! Such a steal! Some items are a little more, probably in the $3 or $5 range, but all prices are extremely reasonable. The only thing I don't like is that they don't offer exchanges or returns. If you don't offer returns, can't you at least offer exchanges? That day I actually bought a wooden cutting board and I decided I want to exchange for something else but the girl told me no refunds or exchanges which sucks. I know its only $1.50, but what if you really didn't need the item? I am more concerned with the product going to waste rather than my money. But asides from that, I am really happy that the line always moves quickly. Even when there is a long line, you'll get to the cash register in less than 5 or 10 minutes. That doesn't happen at too many places. Also, I prefer walking here on weekends as opposed to driving here because it is always hard to find parking. Although there is a large underground parking garage, it will take you forever to find a spot unless you are willing to park on the 4th or 5th underground level. Please be advised that the Yen to USD conversion signs are not accurate. For example, at the time of writing, 150¥ does not convert to 2.00 USD (as their sign states), it is actually only 1.43 USD. There has never been an instance in the past 5 years where 150¥ was even close to 2.00 USD. Therefore, I find this misleading. The store can charge whatever they want and have their own "conversion rate" for their pricing, but please make it clear that this is NOT the currency conversion rate. Why? - aisles are SUPER narrow - stuff is not very organized - ATS = crappy parking situation - smaller store = not as much variety of stuff I always feel super claustrophobic when I come here. There's another Daiso on Atlantic closer to the 60 fwy. I would definitely hit that one up before braving this one. I'm also super spoiled by the large and clean Daiso in Gardena near my bf's place. SCORE OF THE WEEK! I love great deals. This is the Japanese version of the dollar store but the quality is so much better. I thought I was walking into an Asian trinket store but when I saw the pretty upscale storefront I had no idea what to expect. I can't believe I just now found this place but better late than never. School supplies, car accessories, dishes, nice birthday cards and fancy gift boxes & gift bags, kitchen ware, laundry supplies, pet products, make up, Asian facial stuff and Asian snacks. Oh, there's so much more! Japanese packaging is adorable which makes the items even tougher not to buy. Seriously, what does a cute monkey have to do with a toilet brush? I especially loved the kitchen tool section. There were a variety of knives, wine tools and kitchen supplies. Fold down colander's, egg shapers, multi sized whisks and spatulas, so many things that make kitchen prep easier and all in fun colors and designs. Everything is $1.50 unless marked otherwise. Underground parking is free....YAY! I would plan on spending a few hours. There are lots of Asian stores around the plaza. This Daiso is medium sized. It is very busy. Its crowded. I kept walking into people here because the aisles are so small. The place is constantly being stocked. I like the stock of notebooks! They always have the hair clips I like. I usually just buy things here that I often lose (like bobby pins) or need only for a little while (like flash eyelashes). Daiso is definitely a fun place to explore! So many random things you want to buy. Why go to target to spend $30 for six items, when I can come here and get 15 items instead! But I like it because it has covered parking and it is nearby good dim sum (NBC! oh yes!) and I like going after tea time! However, the drivers here are ridiculous so be careful driving in the lots! read more

Whether I only intended to go to Atlantic Times Square for a movie, or strictly to a restaurant, I ALWAYS unintentionally end up in Daiso! It's like my legs developed muscle memory to head into this fabulous store where almost everything is $1.50! "But wait..." you say! "Dollar Tree and/or 99 cents store is cheaper!" you say?? It's different. Although the items here are not excellent quality, I'd have to say they're better quality than both DT and 99CS. Can you imagine furnishing all of your kitchenware (super cute looking cups, bowls, plates, etc....all of which are good quality!) for only $1.50?? They have so much more than just kitchenware, too. Stationary, bathroom ware (I don't know how you call those), snacks, cheap ties, socks, hosiery, face creams, soaps, tupperware, blah blah blah (seriously, just check out the pictures of items that people have posted for Daiso). Everything you'd never think you'd actually need/want...you end up buying. There are usually a lot of people in each aisle since everyone wants great deals. The only trouble with this Daiso is that the parking lot is the one for Atlantic Times Square. This parking lot could be packed during most times since the plaza has a movie theater, a 24 Hour Fitness, and so many restaurants. But that's about it! read more

Oh Daiso, I am glad you are in a location closer to me so I don't have to make a pilgrimage to Torrance to get my cute and cheap Japanese household items. After having brunch in the area, we made a quick (okay, somewhat quick) stop here for some browsing. Well, with stores like these, browsing doesn't stay browsing for long. We lasted about 5 mintues in, oh boy. My friend that I took here is really into making bento, and she was overjoyed that she could expand her toolkit. LOL as with myself, we had to keep each other in check, as in, "Do I really NEED this item?!" XD This store is jam packed with items, and since it was a weekend... jam packed with people. Navigating the store was physically difficult, I can't imagine a person in a wheel chair doing well in that store. It was seriously fire hazard full, with the line to the cashiers wrapping around the store about 20+ deep, kid you not. :( So I guess, you'll fare better trying during the weekday hours. Even though almost everything is $1.50, I can't leave without blowing my paycheck here! Daiso is an explosion of KAWAII cuteness overload! If you are a sucker for adorable novelty utensils, then you will surely have a good time here! The Japanese beauty, cooking and home supplies are just the best! Yeahhhh...Daiso in MPK ! This place is A-M-A-Z-I-N-G ! This is like the japanese version of dollar trees or a mini chinatown ! LOL The shelves are filled with all sorts of household items and cute stuff. If you only have a couple of bucks and need a tiny tea pot, cell phone holder, banana holder, etc (you get the idea), Daiso is the perfect shop. The quality is what one can expect from a place where most items are $1.50. It is conveniently located inside the Atlantic Times Square plaza, so you can stroll in after dinner or while waiting for a table at curry house. Only drawback is the size of the store ... its smaller than most Daiso i've visited (i guess "size does matter" lol) Definitely should visit this store, again it is AMAZING! read more

The Japanese dollar tree store! (Not really a dollar. It's 1.50) I love daiso because they have pretty cute stuff and cool kitchen items such as a musubi maker or colorful selections of pens and pencils. The only thing you have to be careful is that, although it's a Japanese store, everything is made in China. So, don't expect for certain items to be of quality. It's cheap but there are drawbacks. Also, they have a lot of great Japanese snacks so if you crave pocky, buy them here because it's pretty cheap! (They have green tea pocky which is my favorite) Oh, and they don't allow you to use a debit card unless your total is 10 dollars or more. And don't forget that there are no exchange or returns because obviously if they allowed that, they'd lose money.
