Mouth still salivating from the food. When I say amazing, that's an understatement. Let me backtrack. Parking is limited and they sent a message stating so and to arrive early. Got a spot right up front which happens to be the entrance to the butcher/shop area. Nice sign directed me to the rear of the restaurant for the host and was sat immediately for my 6:15 reservation as I arrived early around 6pm. Jordan was the person taking care of me and they did a wonderful job. Great recommendations. Started with the grilled shrimp and they were tasty and I can't put my finger on what made it taste different. Perhaps the lime zest? Devoured those quickly. Next up was the antelope leg and y'all ain't never had it before but would order it again. Cooked amazing, easy to eat and those fries?!? Bye, just bye. I could do a whole plate of those and not bat an eye. Dessert was the basque cake and as anticipated fell inline with the rest of the meal. As you can see no plate (even the shrimp) was returned with something on it. Sooooo good. If you're looking for a new place to try, do it.
Woah! Smells so good here. Came here for brunch with no reservation. Got the biscuits with gravy and the Dai due breakfast (adding the sausage patty for $9). The biscuits are the BEST I've ever had. Soft and fluffy in the middle with lots of layers with a nice crunch on the outside. How?? So good. Kimchi and sour vegetables in the rice made everything pop and the star of the breakfast dish was the sausage. So glad we added it on! Otherwise, it's still a decent vegetarian dish. Portions are small compared to the price but I loved trying antelope for the first time. When the food came out, I thought the antelope patties looked burnt, but they aren't burnt at all and are full of flavor. The inside was full so we opted to sit on the outside patio, which had fans and pretty lush greenery. The restrooms are gender-neutral with changing tables, perfect for people with babies. I would love to come back to try their dinner menu!
I don't know why I wanted to long to eat at Dai Due because now it will become one of my regular spots! I can really appreciate that dai due is seed oil free and source pretty much everything they use & serve from local Texas farms and vendors. It makes me feel better about what I'm putting in my body. And for the quality of those products the pricing was very fair. You can taste the different in quality and I will be recommending this place to anyone who will listen. Dai due feels rustic, relaxing and inviting. The staff is friendly and the service is great. My highlight was the beef tartar and the flautas but every dish we ordered was delicious!
I've been itching to come here for a while now and boy was it worth the wait. We had a dinner reservation (a must here) and were quickly sweated when we arrived. Our waitress walked us through the menu (love that everything is texas-sourced). we landed on the lion's mane mushrooms for starters and shared the antelope, rice, and okra for our main. everything is pretty much cooked in beef tallow giving each dish such a rich flavor. everything, and i mean everything even down to the fries were delicious; but the okra stole the show for me. the guys next to us shared a burger and I saw many others ordering the burger. I'll have to come by (during happy hour!) for their half priced burgers. excellent job dai due!
Parking: they have some parking up front with additional spaces in the back. It's limited and a tight squeeze so give yourself time. Service: Fantastic! Izzy was our server and we had a great experience. I love that for a Michelin star location it can be luxurious without being stuffy, For appetizers we had the flautas which are the best crisp, full of flavor with an amazing broth. We also ordered the craw fish (essentially empanadas) and they were... okay, too heavy and the peas just did not do anything for the dish. For entrees we went with their shrimp à la plancha and their meatballs. Both were delicious. The pickles and the sauce paired to well with the meatballs and the shrimp were full of flavor and the crisp of the potatoes added a nice touch. Instead of a cocktail I tried their local limeade a sparkling delight! They also have a very cool store front where you can get all kinds of meats and coffee and signed books by the main chef. Such an amazing experience.
Another 5 stars after visiting again. This time for happy hour to get the $19 burger and fries and were far from disappointed. We sat at the bar where Maria was tending. She was wonderful! We loved getting to watch all the chefs do their magic. I also purchased a few pounds of wild boar chorizo verde and deer sausage that I'm looking forward to sharing with family during Labor Day weekend. Great service and ambiance, and we'll always come back.
Came here to very specifically try their Mead. I came right after they opened around 5p on a weekday, and sat at the bar -- the staff there were super friendly and gave great recs! I would have tried the food as well, but I had dinner plans elsewhere and it's a little pricey so I didn't get anything. That said, the guy next to me got one of their steaks and said it was one of the best he'd had, so that's high praise! I got a small glass (like 2 ounces) of the mead which is $5. It's expensive for how little you get but the flavor is just lovely -- as good as any dessert wine I've had! I could definitely drink a glass of it any time. They have lots of tables inside but the parking is a little limited outside. The day I came there was plenty because it was early and it was still pretty empty inside (just one or two other groups there), but on a busy night I imagine you'd end up having to get street parking nearby or something. Bathrooms were immaculate in here though, and the ambiance is nice! Not "super fancy," but definitelty more upscale than casual. Overall it strikes me as a nice date spot! A little expensive, but I'm sure the food is great, and can confirm the drinks are definitely very nice.
I've been looking forward to trying out the dry aged Longhorn burgers. Maybe my expectations were set too high. The burger was decent but not the best in town. My friends tried the Grilled Quails and Mushroom Paprikash. They enjoyed their dishes. For appetizers, we shared the spicy carrot tomato cream cheese and carrot tapenade on flat bread crackers and beef fat fries. They sound yummy, but I thought they tasted rather dull. We also got the marinated beets to share with our entrees, the group liked it. For dessert, we ordered the Strawberry galette with buttermilk ice cream, and it hit the spot. The best part was probably the service. Our server was very attentive with good timing. We didn't have to wait long to order anything, and she was very nice with a sweet smile. It's a farm to table butcher restaurant. Decent casual chic ambiance. They serve beer, wine, coffee, tea, and mocktails. We got parking easily because we arrived early.
My husband and I decided to try out Dai Due for our 8th anniversary, and unsurprisingly it was amazing! First off the reservations were pretty open mid-week; I had booked for Tuesday several weeks ahead of time but then had some plans shift and was able to change my reservation to Wednesday just a couple days ahead of time with no issues. We walked in through the front as the back entrance wasn't really obvious from the parking lot (which is quite small), but that was cool as we got to walk by the deli counter and see the meat and pickled veggies etc that were for sale. Our server was great, very helpful in suggesting items, explaining the menu, and answering any questions we had. On her suggestion we started with the sauteed mushroom appetizer but also requested the black garlic butter to be added on the side (I don't think there was an up charge) and this was a great choice! The mushrooms were tender but with a nice bite and super flavorful. We also got the grilled oysters- I forgot exactly what was in the sauce it had miso and something else, but it was so rich and flavorful! I couldn't decide what was the best between the two apps they were both amazing. The husband ordered the antelope over regular fries (as he doesn't like sweet potatoes) which they were happy to accommodate. It was delicious- tender and perfectly cooked with the chive butter on top. I had never had antelope before and found it very pleasant, not very gamey but with a slightly different flavor than beef. I got the quail over grits with a creole sauce and sauteed kale- amazing! It comes with two quail that I think were spatchcocked- the only bones were in the legs and wings so you could eat it easily. The grits were creamy and the sauce with the kale and quail was delicious. I was able to finish my whole meal but was pretty stuffed at the end! Our waitress encouraged us to get a dessert but when we declined brought us out a bowl of chai ice cream to share as she said she wasn't going to let us leave on our anniversary without a treat! All in all a great experience, only complaints are that they don't serve cocktails (there are plenty of local Texas liquors to choose from!) but we did enjoy a glass of wine, and then went next door to Vic and Als after dinner for a dessert cocktail!
Came out here on Friday for brunch at 11. The restaurant was quite empty but filled up as we were there. There are very few spots in front but a few more behind but it limited parking. The restaurant was very cozy and comfortable. Service was great. Food was great. We had the pastrami sandwich. Biscuits and gravy with Antelope sausage and sourdough pancakes. Also the lemonade and green tea. I will definitely be back again .
Dai Due absolutely deserves 5 stars. I went for a date night dinner and every single thing we tried was phenomenal - the kind of meal you're still talking about days later. The vibe is cozy but elevated, perfect for lingering over drinks and way too much food. We love trying game meats, and this is hands-down one of the best spots for that. Everything tasted incredibly fresh and thoughtfully prepared, with layers of flavor that actually make you slow down between bites just to appreciate it. But the real star of the night? The taquito starters. We still dream about those - crispy, rich, creatively flavored, and completely addictive. I'd go back for those alone, and then happily eat my way through the rest of the menu again.
Every time I'm here I think "I should come here more often." It never fails to be good. There's always some tweak to the menu. Some new ingredient, some new combination of flavors, something seasonal. It's never exactly the same, but never different enough I feel lost. Flavors? Yes. Technique? Yes. A new food pairing I'd never thought of, but isn't some over-the-top science experiment that might wow but doesn't satisfy? No. Just good food, cooked well, thought out in terms of flavor and portion, served in a place where you can sit, eat, drink, talk and enjoy. Upscale without pomp and circumstance, but homey enough to not be a wildly out of touch experience. Come here when you want to eat, come here when you want to talk over food you can munch and enjoy. Come here when you're bored with everything else and get reminded how good good can really be.
After a huge disappointment with another restaurant, we needed to find a new place for a birthday celebration and landed on Dai Due. There was a small wait... but given that it was a Saturday night, that was to be expected. Parking, kind of a nightmare. Not barely enough parking for the multiple restaurants in the strip, but after 30 min or so stalking the lot, we found a space to park. Once inside though, utter perfection. The waitstaff are extremely knowledgeable on the offerings and made great suggestions. Every morsel was balanced and delectable and definitely one of the best meat and cheese boards we've had. Stuffed after our meal, we could pass up the butterscotch pudding, so ordered it to go and enjoyed it the next night.

Dai due is hands down our favorite restaurant in Austin. The antelope steak frittes was my fiances favorite meal ever, period. This place is unique in so many ways and the foods execution is next level. The flavors are harmonious and take you on a unique culinary experience. We've had brunch here before and it was epic as well. The burger was truly the best burger we've ever had!! Whether brunch or dinner, this place delivers! Can't wait to go again as we already have our next meal from here picked out read more

The front of the restaurant is a deli/butcher shop, and the actual restaurant is in the back (where the host stand is). The restaurant had a rustic modern feel to it. It's not a large restaurant so we made a reservation for brunch via OpenTable. Service was friendly! The food was pretty good, but definitely a bit pricey for the amount of food you're getting. The Nilgai Antelope wraps were delicious! A nice spin to the traditional Korean lettuce wraps. My brother ordered the Cemita Ahogada, which looked like a sandwich dunked in broth. He enjoyed it, but didn't offer raving sentiments. Parking itself was convenient since there was a lot adjacent to the restaurant. read more

Food was absolutely phenomenal! One of the best meals my husband and I have had in a very long time. Also, surprisingly very affordable for the quality of the food. The centex & flautas were to die for! read more

What a wonderful meal and dining experience. Texas cuisine at its finest. Dai Due sources all of its products (meats, vegetables, fruit, drinks, etc.) only from Texas. They will not compromise - if it is not from Texas it is not served here. Example: I asked if they had cocktails. No, we can not reliably source citrus in Texas. So we had some pretty good Texas Wine from the Hill country. I knew about Dai Due, after a hunting trip when I was given a copy of the Chef's "The Hog Book" cookbook. The recipes were so good, I knew I had to go to the restaurant, next time I was in Austin. Glad I did. Our server, Kelli was a wealth of knowledge and helpful in helping select the right dishes and the proper amount of food for our group. There is not a question about the menu items, wine or Texas in general that she does not know. So to start, we had a delicious mezza platter with falafel, homemade yoghurt, hoummos, a feta and olive spread. The green chili pork stuffed chalupa simply divine. For the main course, a petite pork chop and Aoudad Sheep meatballs hit the spot. Each was served with separate accompaniments that really complimented the dishes. Roasted carrots with a Salsa Verde sauce exceptional as were the beets. Everything had remarkable flavors, perfectly spiced and seasoned. The kitchen knows what it is doing. Texas wine was served by the bottle or glass as well as craft Texas beers. Inside the dining room is well appointed and comfortable seating. The noise level was relatively quiet. Parking available in their lot. So glad I had the opportunity to experience one of Austin's finest restaurant. Bravo. Whoop! read more

I was visiting Austin for an extended weekend and my cousins wined and dined me. Dinner at Dai Due was the star of the weekend! A real live butchery with a farm to table menu made with all locally sourced ingredients. There's indoor seating with a view of the kitchen and outdoor seating with a romantic grapevine covered patio. There's a parking lot in the back but it's not that big, you may have to park on the street. Moving on to our menu pickings: Grilled confit chicken hearts with citrus honey and fried onions - if I could have ordered 5 of these and some hot white rice, I would have eaten this for dinner! Ham cornbread dressing stuffed quail w/ crawfish sauce piquante and herbs - this was delicious, the combination of salty and sweet, seafood and poultry was a winner. I'd order this again. Wild boar confit in a chile bone broth w/ Steen's cane syrup, coal roasted sweet potato puree, radish cabbage onion cilantro mint & lime - if everyone in the city could try this dish, Dai Due may be able to help TX manage the wild boar population a whole lot easier! Dry aged wagyu double cheese burger (ground w/ Dai Due bacon) - what could possibly make a wagyu burger any better? Grinding bacon INTO the burger of course! Beef fat french fries with beet ketchup and chile mayonnaise - good crispy French fries. That beet ketchup was my favorite condiment. Mixed greens salad with charred onion vinaigrette and winter vegetables - honestly, this was a lack luster dish for me. Possibly because everything else had so much flavor. Grilled achiote carrots w/ green garlic crema, pickled onions, toasted sesame seeds, mint & cilantro - good char on the carrots. They were soft but not mushy. Bruleed rye bread pudding w/ strawberry jam ice cream & Chanda cream sherry - I'm not a fan of rye but I am a fan of bread pudding. It was light & custard-y in the middle. That strawberry ice cream was a good balance to the rye bread. Brown butter strawberry blondie & pink peppercorn ice cream sandwich - the chewy dense blondie stole the show for me. The pink peppercorn ice cream had a good subtle complimentary flavor to the dessert. I will definitely revisit and be sure Dai Due is on the list to eat at again. The farm to table menu obviously constantly changes due to sourcing ability. I've heard rave reviews of the ginger beef rib, crossing my fingers it will be on the menu next time I'm in Austin. read more

Not sure if we ordered the wrong things on the menu or need to come back to try the dinner menu...but the breakfast food was beyond mediocre. Our pancake was definitely too thick, it was like eating a bread loaf. We had to ask for extra strawberry sauce because there wasn't enough sauce to evenly coat everything. Bacon was good but not crispy. No complaint about the service. Staff were sweet. Limited parking outside. read more
Our first visit to Dai Due today and it was Flautas were exceptional. If this was a plate, I'd order this and this alone. My partner had the Wagyu Burger and had zero complaints - very tasty. I ordered the Cemita Ahogada - taste was sweet and savory. Service was great and everyone was friendly. Wish the restaurant and parking availability was better but otherwise a wonderful experience. Great place to try. We will be back for dinner. read more
I honestly can't remember the names of the items I ate, but they were good. I wish we knew one of the meals came with fries so we didn't order extra fries, even though they were really good. The dipping sauces were great too! The dessert was smeh, I would try something else next time since it was like a hard biscuit. The service was excellent and the ambiance is cozy. Make a reservation to be safe. read more

Fellow Foodies Here's a glowing FIVE STAR restaurant review for brunch in Austin First, a quick warning: parking in front is tricky; take our advice and park in the back! However, we knew we'd picked a winner as soon as we walked in and experienced the warm, friendly service and the cool rustic, country-chic vibe. Dai Due's dedication to locally sourced, high-quality ingredients shines in every bite, and the atmosphere only adds to the charm. We chose the Tallow-fried green chile pork flautas for an appetizer, served in a spicy broth with fermented cortido, lime crema, and cotija. It was an absolute explosion of goodness, balancing the richness of perfectly seasoned pork, along with tasty, complex flavors that included a hit of spice and tang. For the main course, I had the Sourdough Pancake. It was perfectly fluffy, crispy on the edges and both sides, but tender in the middle, beautifully paired with cherry syrup, pistachio butter, crumbled pistachios, and a delicious cherry topping. Every bite had me doing a little happy dance. Monty ordered the chicken fried quail with mashed potatoes, okra, bread-and-butter jalapeños, biscuit, and gravy, that was totally worth raving about! The side of nilgai breakfast sausage was SO good, with a portion so hearty, we had plenty to take home. There's a cocktail on the menu that's a delightful twist on a classic mimosa. Instead of orange juice, they used house-made apple cider, which was out of this world--refreshing, crisp, and absolutely perfect for brunch. We highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a unique and memorable dining experience in Austin. Can't wait to come back! read more
The sautéed oyster was too salty but the sourdough balanced it pretty well. The wild boar confit was tender and flaky the purée at the bottom was delicious. One of the best main courses item I've had. The dessert was good, the pairing of bread pudding with berry sorbet was on point. Didn't had any reservations but the server was kind enough to seat us. The service and ambience were amazing. read more
Food: 3/5 I ordered the Wagyu Burger and Beef Tallow Fries. I wasn't asked how I'd like my burger cooked so it came out well done which was a letdown. The fries were a bit soggy but the sauces were delicious. Overall very expensive for what I got. Service: 2/5 Chalking this up to them having an off night. We had to wait around for an hour after our reservation to get the opportunity to order appetizers. Environment: 5/5 Gotta love a restaurant built in with a butcher shop! Very cool outdoor patio and clean bathrooms too. read more
Our server was impeccable. I asked if we could have some chicken liver pate and yes! We could! She made it happen. Delish! Btw, this place Smells soooo good! Cute cute cute tables and booths. We had the quail. I found the blood sausage stuffing a bit off putting, but friend loved hers. In all, a swanky, tasty visit with a perfectly delightful server. read more
Not much to look at from the road, but a great experience inside. We had brunch at this quaint and apparently very popular brunch establishment. Thankfully we had made reservations as the wait for drop in was over two hours. Great testament to the quality of the food. We sat outside on a chilly Sunday morning under heater and savor it some tasty drinks. The menu is filled with unique choices, rich and savory. We all thought the meal was great! A definite stop for breakfast in the future. Service was excellent and the food even better. read more

Have been here a few times now, and it is just is OK. My last trip I had the following Taquitos - these were good but were in a broth, which was kind of weird as I didn't know the point of it as you didn't want to have them become soggy Cheeseburger - also good but for the price, ok. Plus they only have one option of ketchup which is beets and am not a fan The service on our last try was also really bad and we did not feel taken care of. This place is not bad, but it's also nothing to scream about. It will probably be a while till I go back and try it again read more

What a wonderful place with a unique menu focused entirely on local Texas goods, from the meat to the wine. I am in constant pursuit of the 'best cheeseburger' and had heard great things about theirs as well as the rest of the menu. The burger was fantastic and my first foray into antelope which was paired with wagyu. We also had quail stuffed with blueberries and rhubarb, quite a combination of flavors but all went charmingly well together. I love all "pocket" foods and they had a crawfish variation that was just the right amount of bread to sauce to meat ratio. The brussel sprouts were excellent. The fries were okay, I probably wouldn't get them again - they didnt have the crispiness I look for in my fried potatoes. I reconfirmed I do not like Texas wine much but they have sparkling water and a selection of beer for those who also feel that way. There are three choices of seating options: indoor table, indoor counter, and outside. The kitchen is an open concept which is fun. You can see things being fire roasted. The staff was friendly and well equipped to answer menu questions and all worked together nicely when bringing foods to the table. They checked in without being too much. I an glad this is in my neighborhood! The menu is constantly changing -- I will be back. read more

Really enjoyed our experience at Dai Due! All of the food was extremely delicious. I also tried the Apple Cider Sparkling Cocktail and it was perfectly balanced, and not too sweet. We started with the lions mane, blue oyster mushroom toast and it was incredible! Next the star of the show was the 16oz NY strip steak. Perfectly cooked and seasoned. Not too salty! It's super cool to see a menu that is made of up of native Texas ingredients. Our waitress was very kind and we were able to park in their back lot. I'd definitely come back! read more

The ambiance is dimly lit and there's booths, tables, and a bar area. There's also an area right in front of the kitchen behind a wall. My partner had never been to Dai Due made the reservation in the area by the kitchen. We asked if we could be seated somewhere else but the hostess said the other tables would be taken. The Wagyu beef tartare was good. I liked the contrast of textures and the chopped apples. I had the burger and beef fat fries. Both of which were also very good. The burger was savory. I liked the sauce that came with the fries. The only downside of this experience was where we were sitting. It was loud and there's people walking behind you every five minutes. It felt very claustrophobic. When we left, nobody ever sat at most of the tables that the server claimed people had reservations for so that was disappointing to say the least. Make sure you don't book your reservation at the area near the kitchen and it might be an enjoyable experience. read more

Professionally trained staff with great communication amongst them. The owner Marie is always overseas every aspect of the restaurant. You can even see her walk around greeting the customers. I tried their Grilled Aoudad Keita, it's basically lamb with rice and salad. But the flavor is very unique and distinct. The place is very popular and is always packed so plan to book in advance. But it's a clean and classy place to come with friends and family. read more

The front boasts a butchery with many homemade options. Cute retail wall with tee shirts, books and more hand made goodies. Tables were too close together, once the ones beside us were sat, I couldn't hear my partner across the table. It was very disappointing! Sunday Bruch was delicious but very heavy. The wild boar boudin was my FAVORITE, some of the best I've ever had! Skip the chicken hearts, they were really chewy (overdone or texture, not sure) and the burger meat was extra well done (boarding chewy). Service was excellent and the restaurant energy was high. Great people, good food. I'll go again but will try later in the day and will request a booth on the reservation. read more

So I've been a returning customer for at least 1.5 years, but as of recent, I've been quite disappointed. They've changed their portion sizes, and are also now charging for simple things like a side of fries (use to come with the burger at no extra charge) or an extra 2 pieces of bread (at stupid price) with any of the boards. On new years last year we paid about $200 a person and the portions we got were less than half of what you usually get during regular meals which was super disappointing and felt like a rip off. Last time I dined in (about 4 months ago) I found a cricket in my salad and they just brushed it off and said "it's cricket season!" . I didn't get any discount off my meal or apology from anyone, I was so grossed out I didn't finish my meal. And I should have spoke up and not paid for my salad to be honest. I use to love this spot much more, the food is good but it's just gotten ridiculously money hungry recently, and I don't think it's worth it as much anymore. Maybe just to try once and say you've been. read more

We had an excellent meal here. Their outside patio, in my opinion, beats the hell outta dining inside. But I digress... Our only regret is that they were out of steak when we visited. Sucks 'cause we had our mouths all set for steak. But everything else we ordered was wonderful- I mean where else outside of Brazil do they even serve grilled chicken hearts as an appetizer. I'll tell you where... this place! Pretty much everything we had here was at least tasty. And the food looked so pretty too! Add in some excellent service and strong cocktails... and you got yourself a lovely evening. read more

Delicious food and seed oil free. What a delight to be able to order anything off their healthy menu. I want to take off 1/2-star due to the lack of connection, attentiveness, and upsell of our server. She left a lot of money on the table so to speak, not making any food suggestions, didn't offer coffee with dessert nor ask if we wanted another round of drinks. read more

I have had the good fortune to dine at some very good restaurants. However, Dai Due stands in a class of its own. Simple ingredients prepared with the perfect expertise made this a top 5 meal. I can't say much for the inside of the establishment; I went straight to the patio to join my party from the parking lot. However the outside is nice and spacious so that is an option during the pandemic. Being with to male cousins, we surprisingly crushed the amount of food we ate. The standout dish for us was the sourdough pancake. It is ENORMOUS. Very fluffy and crispy, and not too sweet. Do not skip out on it! Everything else was good, though one dish in particular was too spicy for me (I can't remember the name unfortunately). I would also recommend the meat board since they are a butcher shop. It's a good sample of all the things if you have a decent sized group! read more
